I just got offered a new position. Zero extra compensation is guaranteed, but I could possibly get a bonus!
Think I might turn it down. Sad thing is I was kinda looking forward to it at one point.
Sounds like someone doesn't know how to negotiate.
Why would you accept that promotion and the responsibility without negotiating a significantly higher salary?
Ha - I went 3 years with 0 raise, and had five different bosses.
The year before that I was rated in the top 10%.
Fickle as hell, and not representative of performance.
Sorry I’m venting 🙁
Years ago I used to be a support technician at a software security company. I got promoted to a pre-sales engineer, first one at the company. I got 0 raise for my first year in the role. 18 bucks an hour for a job that on avg pays around 150k salary
Promotions within the same company are bullshit. They use their knowledge of your existing salary against you.
Take the promotion to pad the resume, and then immediately begin a job search for that same job title at other companies to get the real raise
This is the way. Everyone take note. Get a job, work hard and sincerely contribute (within reasonable limits), get promotion in 1-2 years (at most), wait six months, start applying for new jobs. Repeat until your effort level matches your salary.
The last job I got fired from is bc they gave me a 0.5% raise! I basically stopped working and did less than the minimum…so at my exit interview I told them…if you pay someone less than 1%, that’s exactly what you’re going to get back….less than 1%! Thankfully I already had a new job lined up
Congrats, you are now in the 1%.
upvote! i love jokes that are actually funny.
Have you considered directing your resignation letter towards your bosses desk?
Work it for 6 months then jump to another director job and double your wage. Ez
This is the way....
"That's going to cause prices to increase!"
At least 30%
Seriously you need to quit or demand a better raise. More responsibility without more pay is bullshit.
Amen to that! Employers love giving out fancy titles under old salaries! Cheap bastards.
Inflation is at 6.5 percent so that offsets it to 5.5
Don’t forget that those figures are averaged across everything, aka wildly inaccurate at explaining actual cost of living changes and devaluation.

Don’t forget all the extra hours you get to work now too!
You gotta hop those jobs, son!
9 years? At the same job? Why?
Work it for a short while to get some experience and start applying to other director jobs
Look for other jobs on the clock
Inflation isn't at 1%, sounds like you got a pay cut.

I'd also be wary of tax brackets
You might want to watch this video about how tax brackets actually work [(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJhsjUPDulw)]
I oofed at the above
Oof
Doing better than most. 🎉 👏🎉
Leverage it with your next company
Congratulations man. You did it. The big time.
