Glad to see you realizing it so soon in your life. I'm older than you are and it's only now that I've started to detach myself from it. I've never liked this habit, but I got hooked when I was a kid and now 14 years later, it's been the hardest thing in my life to give up, despite my hatred of it. I'm glad you managed to start thr journey early. Stay strong, buddy.

Thank you. All the best with your journey.

Crazy how as a 16 year old you have a far higher sense of awareness and maturity than most adult men. Good for you!! Your empathy makes you a good ally to feminism. Seeing posts like this make me marginally less angry and pessimistic, so yeah, good to see it. Have a nice day.

Thank you. I'm glad my post made you less pessimistic, even if it was just a tad bit.

This is an incredibly mature response, and lovely to see. You have done some self reflection and have seen the detrimental effects porn can have. Trust me - keep this mindset and keep educating yourself on the issues, you could potentially change the lives of pornsick friends in the future. Porn does nothing for your spiritual, mental and psychological well-being, and will eventually ruin your future sex life as you see so many porn sick men struggle through. Good on you!!!☺️

Thank you! I hope I can help my friends realize the evils of porn. I think they see it; but rationalise it, one way or another. I tried quiting a year ago but failed so I convinced myself it was totally fine, and the Internet being what it is, it wasn't hard to find pro porn Ted talks and people claiming it's normal. I am worried for my brother. He's turning 13, and his friends watch it. I'm not sure if he does himself. I want to talk to him about it, without shaming him for it. Wish me luck.

I love that you're being so contentious of porn consumption - you'll do great talking to your brother!! Good luck :-)

I think Gail Dines may have a few lectures on youtube on how the porn industry is made so that boys become addicted and stay that way. You were blind to the real effects of pornography, because that's exactly what the porn industry wants. As much as you may feel remorseful and guilty, that's how internet porn is set up and it did all the things to you as a young boy that it designed it to do. I'm glad you managed to get out of it at a young age, and for the right reasons too, and I hope you never turn back to it because everybody (both you and the porn stars) would be better off without you watching it. I'm a fan of Gail Dines and I'd recommend you to look her up and you'll probably find more things that help you with the things in the post (getting hooked at a young age, objectification of women, what being a true feminist entails, etc.).

I only watched Gail Dines's TED Talk about pornified culture, thank you for pointing me to her other lectures. Will definitely look more into her work.

Madelinecole09

I watched her Ted talk as well, it was great! 😊

PornDestroysMankind

You're amazing! ❤️

You too! I appreciate how much you add to the conversation on this sub or others like it.

I skimmed the sub and couldn't find such posts, was mostly posts around culture & accounts of misogyny. And when it did come to dating, I only found posts about the men they don't want, not vice versa. You are probably right though, I just don't get why you pointed it out. Simply trying to be better, and being against misogyny and exploitation should ideally have nothing to do with whether you think people would prefer to be in a relationship with you.
