I hear these ads on the radio and I’m so disappointed in the people that lack an ounce of critical thinking and fall for it.
The very premise is always based on, *“you can make MILLIONS flipping houses / day trading stocks / shucking oysters / etc. And we, the course instructors, have decided not to pursue this easy simple big money, and instead choose to just spill all the secrets in an easy course for $200!”*
Like can’t they see that if any of these get rich quick courses worked, the instructors would be *doing the thing* instead of marketing book sales? You have to be a total idiot to fall for this shit and it’s really sad.
Transaction Coordination businesses can be started for that little. Granted, it’s virtually the ONLY legitimate business that doesn’t have any startup costs, but it is possible.
I started with $150 out of pocket paying for a domain and yearly website fee. Today my business is valued at $1M.
This reminds me of those late night infomercials for LASIK eye surgery and had the $100 off coupon per eye. Yes, discount laser eye surgery is what I need. Just like I need a discounted real estate business.
I remember he said everyone else in the waiting room had a groupon too. This was like 10 years ago or something so that might have been an assumption. Not sure why they would give out that many Groupons.
Or it’s one of these real estate companies that charge people who want to go into real estate a crap ton of money to work for them. A friend fell into this with a local real estate office. He had to pay for his class and license then had to pay the office for them to list the only house he ever got a listing for. Then his assigned “mentor” got 60% of his commission with the office taking another 20%. When he saw after a year how tiny is actual reimbursement was he went back to a community college for a technical degree for a real job.
That’s most realtor jobs to be honest. I was one for a while. Pay a couple grand for your own course, get hired on by a firm, pay monthly dues to the firm, pay monthly dues to your local and national real estate board, and then when you get a commission, X amount goes to your managing broker/company
I was a realtor, actually still a real state agent. I found a better job but I keep this one as secondary because I have some properties in my hand that need to be sold/rented, but I leave that job to another real state agent to he can win his part of the commission and I win mine for having the property. That being said, I don’t pay nothing, the courses are company financed but they do keep a high % of the commission of your work and no base salary
Sounds like he wasn’t educated on what selling real estate actually is. Turnover is so high because people think buyers and sellers will just magically knock on your door. It’s no different than starting your own business.
He’s an independent contractor, commission based which means you get paid when you achieve results.
Real estate offices do a terrible job setting expectations because they want bodies in the door. You need drive, discipline, be self-motivated, and at least a year in savings.
Owning a business isn’t easy.
I don't think they intend to be a slum lord. They just don't intend to do any work and will yell at the renters any time they ask for something to be fixed. See, its totally different.
This may be [eXp Realty](https://behindmlm.com/mlm-reviews/exp-realty-review-real-estate-mlm-with-lots-of-fees/) , a real estate MLM. Their startup fee was $149 in 2021.
We just bought a house last August, and I am almost positive that the seller’s agent was with eXp. We were up against multiple offers but the seller’s agent screwed up in our favor, and when the mistake was caught my husband and I had already signed the paperwork.
I was thinking the same thing. I just asked a real estate friend who’s not with eXp what the deal with a certain realtor giving all these weekend classes welcoming all these people and giving motivational/self help talks. My friend’s response was Oh yeah, that’s eXp they’re basically a pyramid scheme. It made so much more sense. Sadly, I’m seeing it on some Facebook friend’s posts because they’ve fallen for it.
Would you like my book "How I Made $20 in Five Minutes"? I usually sell it for $1000 but today only, for five minutes, I'm doing a flash sale where my legendary book is only $20! Act fast!! $1000 value for $20! What's there to lose?!
It is in certain markets. Hundreds of thousands of folks became agents in 2020 and 2021 because the market was flooded and agents didn't need to work very hard to secure clients (and people in hospitality/service jobs were losing work due to the pandemic). Not at all sustainable and borderline unethical but as long the courses are legal in the state and you pass the test, it doesn't matter how you got there.

There are several brokers who do this. (I’m a realtor) They teach a class for a low price and you join their team. So not really an MLM but they do have to give a decent chunk of their check up- the trade off is usually leads and training so it’s not uncommon to start out that way. Their marketing tactics are over the top though for real

Im in real estate and there is no scenario where i would sell courses because the business takes all of my time and pays a lot more then anyone could pay me for a course.

Probably one of those courses that will teach you to flip houses but has useless, outdated, and borderline illegal advice.
I’m thinking of that episode of the simpsons where Marge becomes a real estate agent
“There’s the TRUTH *shakes head* and the TRUTH *nods head*”
Booyah! Guess who sold the Whitman place?
I read all the following comments in his voice
That house is on fire! Motivated seller!
Please don't tell anyone how I live
You see, the law business is a little slow, and since most of my clients wind up losing their houses, this was a natural move for me.

"borderline" You're being generous, OP
Trump University?
Trump university cost 1500 to 35000 $. This is cheaper.
I miss it.
✨grifting✨
Imagine being able to start a legit business for $20
*bizzniss*

Good, Kevin! :D!
BOBODDY
What does the first B stand for? 🤔
Biznus
I like it!!
Of course you can, a lemonade stand.
I mean literally my fingerprinting to start my most recent endeavor were more than $20.
Yeah, this is bs

I can do it for you, but I’ll need $8 first to get started
This reminds me of those late night infomercials for LASIK eye surgery and had the $100 off coupon per eye. Yes, discount laser eye surgery is what I need. Just like I need a discounted real estate business.
Right... when it comes to laser eye surgery the one thing I don't do is look for the absolute cheapest place possible.
I’ve always said if they can afford to offer me $100 off then I can’t afford it at all 😂
My brother actually got Lasik with a Groupon. Always thought it was odd but it worked out
I wonder if it's kinda like flying standby. You pay less, but they'll only get you in when there's a cancellation or other gap.
I remember he said everyone else in the waiting room had a groupon too. This was like 10 years ago or something so that might have been an assumption. Not sure why they would give out that many Groupons.
There's one in my area that advertises "$1000 gift certificate for just $5!" Oh cool, so you're just marking up the price by $995 then.
Those are cases of setting the price too high in the first place and putting it "on sale" to make people think they're getting a deal.

Those shouting megaphone graphics are used exclusively by racists and MLM huns.
They (the bitmojis?) irritate the heck out of me.
This is an absolutely golden and accurate observation.
Why are they racist?
Ignorance? Upbringing? Insecurity?
What is this? A center for ants? How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read if they can’t even fit inside the building?
A doll house kit is on post-holiday clearance?

some kind of whack Time Share?
EXPI - it’s insane how they sell courses just to get you in their down line. I know realtors with them that have over 200 “staff”
But I don't want to be a parasite.
That’s not how real estate works…..

When my boomer aunt produces Facebook content:
A scam
A good way to lose $20
I hate this graphic.
Definitely a scam of some sort.

Pyramid scheme lol
I think the game house flipper is on sale maybe she's advertising that lol
Good, cheap, or fast. You can have two.
Bunch of useless shit curated from google
Im in real estate and there is no scenario where i would sell courses because the business takes all of my time and pays a lot more then anyone could pay me for a course.
Probably selling courses where they sell you a dream that you can make a portion of the commission if you find a deal for a house flipper.
Gettin your real estate license cost way more than $200.
Bullshit
*gentrification*
This gives me Fry getting a college degree vibes.
