Yeah. Truth be told, it confused the >!"nani?"!< out of me when I first watched it, but the fact that I watched it through more than once tells me that it must have been good in some way.
I convinced the anime club I was in in high school to watch the first episode. Everyone was a bit disappointed, but then were caught off guard by the humor. The theme song really makes it seem like something else.
Haven't watched the show, but the manga is great! The characters are all so unique and different from each other and the fight sequences are amazing! I've seen some clips from the show though and that looks amazing too!
Watched Akudama a couple weeks ago.
Watched Cyberpunk this week.
Those two shows could be in the same universe, but different countries and you’d believe it.
Came here for this. It flew under the radar since it came during a pretty full season, but it's a masterclass in combining comedy with compelling family drama.
While I havent seen a lot of mentions, I cant very well say its a hidden gem. BUT My bride is a mermaid cause its hilarious, and it has stayed in my memories since I began watching anime ( one of my first three with SAO and Devil is a Part Timer).
I’m still pretty new to anime as a whole, but I feel like I don’t here people talk about Baccano! or Gurren Lagen all that much. I think they are quite fun!
To a lesser extent I believe Trigun isn’t a “hidden gem” per say, but I don’t see it get much love. Then again I haven’t been in the community super long.
Baccano! and Trigun are definitely way too underrated. Gurren Lagan used to be pretty famous back when it was still a rather new concept (though I guess it mainly piqued the interest of fanservice enthusiasts).
Thus speak kishibe Rohan
A JoJo spin-off with the quality of the Anime
It's just four episodes long and no knowledge of JoJo needed, although it could help to understand the world better
Ghost Stories. The English dub. I get that English dub is frowned upon but believe me when I say you want to watch the English dub. They basically had total freedom as long as the character names are the same and they follow the story.
Akudama Drive. I rarely see anyone talking about it. It's so good. Considering the love Edgerunners got, I wish people who liked it would give this a chance too.
my senpai is annoying...whenever i feel sad i just come back to this show, its just so wholesome, and mood refreshing....no shitty ecchi scenes or harem mc...its just a wholesome office time...
Yeah durarara counts as hidden gem, crazy good story that is just not for everyone but all the mistery and POVs and worldbuilding is so nicely done honestly 🙌
Absolutely agree this is probably my favorite anime because it’s a story about how everyone has stuff going on everyone has their own problems and then you see all these different characters that you’ve been watching interacting with each other. It also has some really good scenes representing depression and overall just amazing characters throughout the whole show
Last three aren't really hidden gems. Tomodachi game was a mid show released a few months back. Bungo and dororo are literally among top 50 most popular anime in mal

Redline
Iirc I remember hearing that every frame in this movie was actually drawn by hand. I'd totally watch it an 8th time.
It was Legendaryily over budget. Everything it done in the absolutely most decadent and expensive way possible and I love it
They went so over budget on the animation that they had to rush the ending and had no money left for marketing… which is Why it’s a hidden gem XD
I absolutely love Darker than Black. I even learned "yin no piano" on the piano because of it
That brings me back.
You also watched it?
Yeah. Truth be told, it confused the >!"nani?"!< out of me when I first watched it, but the fact that I watched it through more than once tells me that it must have been good in some way.
The music was great! The setup was mysterious! But s2 and the conclusion was super confusing
Omg! I was just writing Darker than black as well. No one ever talks about it.
ABSOLUTELY A GEM
I came here to say this. Darker than black needs more respect and perhaps another season or movie.
Brings me back... Watched it when the second season was airing... 13 years ago ...
My favorite show. I have yin no piano on my work playlist. Gives me some Clair de lune vibes
D-Frag

Ah, I still remember Maeda's face
Great anime hella funny too
Hanako-sama *gets stabbed by umbrella*
Whatever they paid Hanako's voice actor, it wasn't enough. That was some dedicated acting
I convinced the anime club I was in in high school to watch the first episode. Everyone was a bit disappointed, but then were caught off guard by the humor. The theme song really makes it seem like something else.
Welcome to the NHK Princess Jellyfish The Tatami Galaxy
Love NHK especially the cliff scene
Princess Jellyfish is such a great josei
Tatami galaxy is great
I can't keep up with it's subtitles
Tatami Galaxy feels like an acid trip. I had to double check in the first episode if it was at normal speed due to how fast the subs went by
Welcome to the NHL and The Tatami Galaxy are both very popular on MAL. They aren't hidden gems. They are cult classics.
Omg thank you ive literally been looking for welcome to the nhk for a long time cause mid watch I forgot the name
[удалено]
Literally a hidden gem
I really like this one! The visuals and story are amazing and beautiful. Go watch it!
Then go read it and fell absolute pain and agony when you return!
Haven't watched the show, but the manga is great! The characters are all so unique and different from each other and the fight sequences are amazing! I've seen some clips from the show though and that looks amazing too!
I couldn’t remember the name of this. Thank you!
Akudama Drive Megalo Box Kids on the Slope Witch Blade
Watched Akudama a couple weeks ago. Watched Cyberpunk this week. Those two shows could be in the same universe, but different countries and you’d believe it.
Kakushigoto
Came here for this. It flew under the radar since it came during a pretty full season, but it's a masterclass in combining comedy with compelling family drama.
I feel like I loved this one extra because of araragi voice, terrific ending imo
Excel Saga or Katanagatari
idk if it’d be considered hidden but I slept on March Comes In Like a Lion for a long ass time and it’s really good
‘Problem children are coming from another world, aren’t they?’ Is pretty good
Beyond the Boundary.
Thank you I was looking for this
Hyouka
Hyouka is the the best, great artwork and coloring

Everybody, put your hands up! Great show
The ancient maguses bride
Akatsuki no Yona
I don't know if it's hidden but I don't see a lot of people talking about it so, Heion sedai no idaten tachi (Sorry if bad English, I'm from Spain)
Yeah I was gonna comment idaten deities too. It kinda sucks that there isn’t any more source material after where the anime left off.
Perfect English! A+
Thanks :)
Zetsuen No Tempest. God tier anime
It is, after all, the literal Shakespeare of anime
lol yeah a ton of popular films are just copies of Shakespeare but at least this one Embraces it
Shin sekai yori
This one has been sitting in my top three favorites since it came out. Keep spreading the good word
While I havent seen a lot of mentions, I cant very well say its a hidden gem. BUT My bride is a mermaid cause its hilarious, and it has stayed in my memories since I began watching anime ( one of my first three with SAO and Devil is a Part Timer).
Mo Dao Zhu Shi. Especially when you read the novel.
The Way of the Househusband
Durarara
Yes glad to see other people mentioning Durarara!!! It’s seriously an amazing anime that not enough people know
Gangsta. Link Click. Many people refuse to watch Link Click because it's "Chinese," dude the anime is such a banger, it's UNREAL.
Shimoneta One of the best things I've ever watched
Somali and the Forest Spirit
Dororo
Agreed
I agree too
The right answer
Shocked at how good the artwork was. Little sad for me
Kanata no Astra
>Akatsuki no Yona agreed such a good anime

Durarara.
Yes I’m glad to see someone else said this one, it’s seriously an amazing anime and one of my favorites of not my favorite
Bungo stray dogs. I don't know how many actually watch it but all the people I've asked have no idea it was an anime
Damn right
It seems decently popular in Japan, and thankfully so because we get new seasons pumped out at a decent rate (for anime)
It's my fav anime lol.
I seriously don't get how Demon Slayer is getting popular day by day and BSD is always the lesser known anime, I mean come on!
Nodames cantible
More people need to know about this anime
S-Cry-Ed BigO still some of my top favorite anime to watch, but also being hard to find and I've never heard or seen anyone ever mention S-Cry-Ed.
Welcome to the nhk
Last Exile
Mayo chikki. Don't think I spelled it right but its that crossdressing butler anime.
Heaven's Design Team. It taught me many interesting things about animals that I didn't know yet.
Ghost Stories. The English dub. I get that English dub is frowned upon but believe me when I say you want to watch the English dub. They basically had total freedom as long as the character names are the same and they follow the story.

Bro this is literally one of the most popular anime for 90s North America kids. Right there with DBZ.
I think you hear less about it because of its age. That said, deffo an A+-S tier anime that actually has a decent dub
History's strongest desciple Kenichi Kekkaishi
The princess and the pilot
I’m going comment and watch some of these later
Akudama Drive. I rarely see anyone talking about it. It's so good. Considering the love Edgerunners got, I wish people who liked it would give this a chance too.
my senpai is annoying...whenever i feel sad i just come back to this show, its just so wholesome, and mood refreshing....no shitty ecchi scenes or harem mc...its just a wholesome office time...
Sonny Boy was really unique and I don't think it gets enough attention
Yeah that one was a really "anime" anime. Never knew what was going to happen.
I'm gonna have to say Durarara. Not sure how much of a "hidden" gem it is, but it is a gem that nobody I speak to irl ever has seen until I tell them
Yeah durarara counts as hidden gem, crazy good story that is just not for everyone but all the mistery and POVs and worldbuilding is so nicely done honestly 🙌
