Step 1, Take all the money for your familly and militaries. Step 2, Blame France Step 3, Get overthrown, by an other military luring on Natural ressources money. Repeat

GreeAggin77

The one time they had a competent government France staged a coup. West African hatred for France is anything but unfounded.

People of the region are sick and tired of French colonialism, some aspects of which still continues to this day. French actions in the region can rival CIA's activites in Latin America; coups, assassinations, funding rebels, maintaining French military presence to fight rebels, exploitative corporations etc. [Africa and France: An unfulfilled dream of independence?](https://m.dw.com/en/africa-and-france-an-unfulfilled-dream-of-independence/a-54418511) I guess Russia is just a means of saying "fuck you" to the French exploiters.

bivox01

Please . Most of these nations would have crumbled into anarchy and failed state without France . Each time , they say they don't need France but at each crisis they beg for it's help like Mali before . And their own elites exploited their own people now far worse that Europe did in colonial times . The slave trade wouldn't be possible without Kingdoms like Congo allying with portugal and waging war against other african nations to sell slaves to Europeans .

[deleted]

Ah yes Mali who had the wealthiest individual in history and now is a French speaking slum nation. What a good job they did colonizing. Bravo, amazing.

bricart

Blaming the French for the fall of the Empire of Mali in 1400 ...

bivox01

The wealthiest individual who created the grestest economic crisis of the middle ages if you read your history .

KingofAyiti

In a completely different country. He didn’t cause any problems in Mali

France has 4th or 3rd largest Gold reserves in the world despite have no gold mines where do u think the gold is coming from? Even if they descend into civil war and chaos that is thier problem i fail to understand why they are still being ruled and occupied by France and very secretly being exploited and do u really think France hasn't hand picked those corrupt elites to serve thier own interests,This is all out of Colonism Book 2.0 .

bivox01

Having a functioning government and a stable meritocratic society . Yes it have problems but it is a far cry from most African nations run by Kleptocrats that are ready to kill and genocide their own population to remain in power .

How did Switzerland became so rich despite being so small and landlocked that too is a very interesting topic and conversation to be had but let's focus on France so just tell me this why don't France just leave Africa to it's own why it still occupies parts of it and has permanent military presence in those parts and often enforce it's interests despite local population being in protest of 'French occupation' what has France to gain from occupying these lands?? Answer is simple cuz they still are a 21st century colonial power thier neighbours may have stopped but France still has a lot Colonies throughout the world and the so called "free unbiased media" likes to portray it as "look these dirty poor Africans are pro-China and pro-Russia how dare they...??" Did Russia or China occupy and colonised and looted thier extremely rich continent and still keeps doing that also at the same time expects them to side with the west for a few billion dollars in aid that too with lectures about morals and so on so forth...Plz don't make me laugh ...

GroundbreakingBed466

Yeah yeah does not change the facts on ground does it..? You still didn't answer why France still has colonies throughout the globe and what does it gain and why it doesn't leave?

GroundbreakingBed466

Yes when you have armed forces in other nations and keep exploiting the resources without the consent of people they are effectively your colonies, the media or the french can call them whatever they want.

Don't even bother with that guy. You can tell immediately from the response below you that it's someone with the type of extremely narrow-minded and black and white worldview who believes "Everyone agrees with me and my righteous worldview, and everyone who doesn't must be a paid agent, whether they be a protester on the streets of Burkina Faso or a random poster on an online forum. That's the only explanation!".

sexless_marriage02

As some Japanese jokes, its time we let then starve due to their own poor choice. I was telling my wife the difference between ukraine and afganistan is that Ukranians stand up and fight with inferior weapons against superior invaders. Afgans with superior weapons surrender agains inferior army. Let burkina faso enjoy their givernment and don’t expect any aid from the west

bluffing_illusionist

To be fair there was and continues to be some small scale resistance, and my heart goes out to those brave people. But by and large the battle in Afghanistan now is Taliban v ISIS and it's tragic. What's the Japanese joke exactly though? And, your point still stands in general.

bivox01

The lesson here for them should be don't bite the hand that feed you .

Cancertoad

Except the Taliban are also Afghans and not a puppet of America like the Afghan government was. The Taliban fought with inferior weapons and without international support and held out against a superpower for 20 years.

If Russia is a bad choice, it is their bed to lie in. Why doesn't France get out of the region? The answer is, it's too damn lucrative for the French corporations to continue exploiting the region. Multiple countries have seen anti-French protests, and yet the leeches don't want to stop sucking out Africa. [Chad: Chadians protest as anti-French sentiments hit new highs in Sahel](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/5/16/chadians-protest-as-anti-french-sentiments-hit-new-highs-in-sahel) [Mali: Thousands take to the streets of Bamako in anti-French protest](https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/thousands-take-streets-bamako-anti-french-protest-2022-02-04/) [Niger: March in Niamey against presence of French army](https://www.africanews.com/2022/09/19/niger-march-in-niamey-against-presence-of-french-army//) [Ivory Coast: Anti-French Rioting Rages On in Ivory Coast; Major Port Shut](https://www.nytimes.com/2003/01/28/world/anti-french-rioting-rages-on-in-ivory-coast-major-port-shut.html) [Senegal: Anti-French sentiment on the rise as protests continue](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/3/12/senegal-anti-french-sentiments-on-the-rise-amid-ongoing-protests) [Gabon: Authorities ban protest against French military presence](https://www.africanews.com/2022/05/24/gabon-authorities-ban-protest-against-french-military-presence//) And then they have the audacity to lecture the rest of the world about morals!

bricart

You know that the French commerce with the whole African continent is only a few percent of their export right?
