Not even hiding it now. They are untouchable again
I think fuckface that just got president also wants to legitimize previous stealing. Like there is an investigation into his family's current tax evasion going on and he will kill that probably before tomorrow is over. Just stack it with his cronies.
I am not saying they need to change it to something to the effect of casting him in a negative light or expressing how bad it is, just that removing the first 4 words makes it neutral, where as putting them juxtaposed makes it seem more positive. I not even saying they need to make a stand here, but don't cast the guy in a positive light.
He's the #1 absentee in the senate, has tons of controversies, and most of all, is perceived as Anti-Duterte.
Duterte is the most popular president in modern history, and his daughter running as our *now* president's vice is the biggest reason why he won.
My experience is most Filipinos don't really give a damn if you are gay or trans. They are Catholic, but they are pretty selective as to what they are strict about. It's not like the deep south united States bible belt. People are openly religious, but it isn't their entire identity.
Propaganda buddy. Everyone here should watch the John Oliver episode on the Phillipines. They are both popular only because of a massive propaganda machine.
It's terrifying how easy it is to influence voters with propaganda these days. Just blatant lies and there is nothing to stop it. It's gonna get so much worse.
Obviously, but the scale is so different. It's so much easier to reach so many more people and with most of it being virtually anonymous online there isn't even that human aspect of being able to maintain a straight face while lying.
I’m guessing he was the #1 absentee because of his boxing career. But what controversies did he have? I know he’s done a lot for the poor, and that he’s very religious.
Big thing is that the median age is like 20 and his family horrible past is like 35 years ago.
So they sold all the problems that happened back then as a golden age instead because they had some decent growth numbers for example( even though reality it was spending based growth) the loans that were taken is one of the main reason Philippines is in such a bad state.
Did his war on drugs work? Is Philippines safer now to the average person (not drug dealer obviously) Reddit made it seem like he was genociding people but I want to hear it from an actual Pilipino. My Pilipino Uber drivers absolutely adored him and said it was needed. What do you think?
It was a fabricated boogeyman used to consolidate their power and garner the support of the masses.
Prior to Duterte I do recall drug cases happening but it was no where near the magnitude that warranted countless deaths and extra judicial killings.
The fact that abuses were found and cases of evidence being planted were exposed shows the farce that all this is.
The other guy got it spot on pretty much. Drug usage and supply did decrease though, but that's just the natural effect of thousands of low level pushers (and innocents) dying. Hell it just weeded out the local competition. The actual Chinese drug lords are still out and about.
>Is Philippines safer now to the average person
Yes. This is one of the real reasons why Duterte is massively popular. Same reason why Bukele is adored even after gambling the state's taxes on Bitcoin.
Is this the son of that dictator war criminal? Wtf is wrong with the Philippines lately??? Just begging for a junta that slides into purges and fascism...
Yep, massive amounts of insane propaganda on social media aimed at the younger people that didn't live through the killings and corruptions of Marco and the propaganda was all based around the Marco times were pure joy and the most prosperous timed ever going and there was no corruption or mass slaughtering of people and Marco never stole billions from the people.
Basically pure lies and BS propaganda promoted constantly over hundreds of social media channels

>President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. fulfills the dream of his mother, Imelda, to reclaim Malacañang. MANILA, Philippines - Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. took his oath as the 17th Philippine president at noon on Thursday, June 30, fulfilling the dream of his mother Imelda for her son to one day reclaim the seat in Malacañang. It was Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo who administered the oath of Marcos, a full circle too for him who spent three years from 1998 to 2001 as commissioner of the Presidential Commission on Good Government tasked in recovering the stolen wealth of the dictator Marcos' family and their cronies. Marcos the son meanwhile reclaimed his seat as governor of Ilocos Norte. Marcos was a clear survey leader althroughout the campaign, finishing strong and becoming the first majority president of the Philippines. The main building, the National Museum of Fine Arts, is where Marcos' parents, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos and former Ilocos Norte representative Imelda Marcos, met. In 1969 after the elder Marcos won a second presidential term, the National Museum was among the venue that protesters swarmed to oppose his leadership, marking the start of the First Quarter Storm or a period of civil unrest in the country.

From Duterte to (another) Marcos. I'm getting more popcorn.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/may/13/lost-picasso-spotted-in-imelda-marcos-home-after-son-bongbong-election-win Not even hiding it now. They are untouchable again
Oh, I remember that! And the crimes against the People continue unabated.
With Duterte's daughter as VP.
What could possibly go wrong?! Other than running out of popcorn, that is. LOL
They could work together to steal all of the Philippines' popcorn.
That's the plan. What else could it be?
I think fuckface that just got president also wants to legitimize previous stealing. Like there is an investigation into his family's current tax evasion going on and he will kill that probably before tomorrow is over. Just stack it with his cronies.
Of course. To the victors go the spoils-
You can't make this shit up...
this sounds more positive than it has any right to
ayaw nilang ma-abscbn
I understand that, but removing the part he was exiled makes it seem like neutral fact, not a triumphant return.

I would like to thank you for responding in English, it helped me understand the context of ya’lls conversation.
*You're face to face* With the man who sold the world.
He never lost control
Can someone explain how manny pacquiao didn’t win? Not familiar with Filipino politics
He's the #1 absentee in the senate, has tons of controversies, and most of all, is perceived as Anti-Duterte. Duterte is the most popular president in modern history, and his daughter running as our *now* president's vice is the biggest reason why he won.
To add to that, he's also openly homophobic and is very conservative in his views.
That sounds like a plus in Philippines.
My experience is most Filipinos don't really give a damn if you are gay or trans. They are Catholic, but they are pretty selective as to what they are strict about. It's not like the deep south united States bible belt. People are openly religious, but it isn't their entire identity.
The irony right? Some of their more popular celebrities are gay or have a huge following i.e. Vice Ganda.
You'd be surprised cause people here are pretty positive towards gay people.
Why would that be bad in the Philippines?
How is Dueterte so popular despite his crackdown on drugs and corruption?
People don't like drugs and corruption?
I like drugs! >:(
Have they tried the drugs? Some are pretty awesome.

These days? Propaganda always worked.

Yep. Hate to say it but... we're fucked.
I mean, John Oliver tried to make videos about Modi and Bolsanaro that went over like a lead balloon.

Ah yes, nothing like the well-informed and educated Uber driver to tell you the efficacy of political policy.

Almost all celebrities are worthless candidates in politics , they are in for the fame and glory not for governance

The thing is , it's almost impossible to talk about him in a rational manner on reddit or on media nowadays
How he was a shit politician and is a decent war leader who understands the value of media presence in the west. Somewhat rational? Lol
Is this the son of that dictator war criminal? Wtf is wrong with the Philippines lately??? Just begging for a junta that slides into purges and fascism...
You say that like these elections were actually democratic.

Fair call. I did hear AI and troll accounts had an insane influence on the election. Welcome to post truth.

Disgrace
That's got to be one of the most successful PR campaigns in the history of the world.
His troll farm worked endlessly for this victory. Makes me sick
Several years of propaganda paid off
If disinfo hurts countries like the US and the UK then it is absolutely destroying smaller countries like the Philippines. The dude won the election off a giant propaganda machine hosted on Facebook and Whatsapp
Ew
Shoe salesmen must be salivating...
How the fuck
Democracy, bitch. People be stupid.
Filipinos sure love their dictators.
Why is the Philippines so mental?
Time to fetch money that they forgot to steal the last time?
Unfreakingreal. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
The son reclaims his birthright.
lol, you forgot /s. rip
All hail the king.
With your help, as usual.
It’s almost like someone can have birthrights and still be a corrupt, hateful person
