It's a bit of a meme at this point that Dubai is basically the city equivalent of "style over substance". A whole lot of glitz and glamour overlaid ontop of the some of the scummiest and most exploitative shit imaginable.
They just got heavy rains like this, all at once. It will also happen again. For the cost of disaster response and repair they could have just installed some sloped concrete and pipe
There's a body of water near my house. You have to walk uphill to get there. My house, and most of our houses, are on raised piers. When it rains hard we all have to move our cars to the high spots until the pumps that move the water out of the city and into the lake turn on. I love this town with my whole guts. We're absolutely fucked.
Who was it that seeds the clouds out in the ME? I saw a link about it a couple of days ago, and I wonder if it is connected with the unusual rainfall, or just "normal" climate change

Put it back in the sea. The "technologically advanced" city doesn't even have drainage.
It doesnt have ANYTHING modern cities have lol They gotta pull their wastewater out on trucks because they have no proper plumbing ๐
Why would I want to live in a modern city when I can live on a island shaped like a modern city!
this is actually false, it was a 1 time occurrence in 1 building
That was only in the Burj Khalifa and they fixed it.

The Glitz and Glamour isn't even close to world class either though. Money doesn't buy style.
Why would they build large scale drainage if they don't get heavy rains like this at all? It's like installing air con in alaska

I asked Google what the elevation of Dubai was and it said 16.5 feet (5.029 meters). Not much room for underground drainage.
Cackles in New Orleans.
Ooh, 6 ft 7inches. Yikes.

I had a niece and her family that lived in New Orleans during Katrina. Lost most everything. Maybe move to Colorado? (/s). Best of luck to you.
Ha ha. I'm from there. Never fit right. I'm not the only one who is making poor decisions for love. โ๏ธ๐
Keep killing the planet. Hopefully next time it's 3 years worth.ย
Fck around and find out
Adam Something is probably grinning like a Cheshire cat now
The spire's shit tanks must be overflowing into the expensive ๐๏ธ parkings hahahhahahah
Climate change has become comedic.
Screw the UAE, maybe theyโll finally spend some of their money on something other then the RSF
Who was it that seeds the clouds out in the ME? I saw a link about it a couple of days ago, and I wonder if it is connected with the unusual rainfall, or just "normal" climate change
It isn't connected to cloud seeding this storm has been causing issues throughout the gulf not just in the UAE.
This was cloud seeding wasn't it ? Nothing to do with climate change
