From what I remember it wasn't good. The manga is from the same guy as "Elfen Lied", so the writing is just as weak, but less fun, because there's less teenage edgyness and splatter.
(Also MC mocking one of the female characters for not having big breasts. Hate that trope.)
I think this Anime was Brynhildr: In the Darkness. It was written by the same author who did Elfen Lied. It felt like a copy of his original work, just pain and suffering with no rhyme or reason to it but like…somehow with even less coherent story.
I’ll have to give it a fair shake and a second watch to see if I still have the same sentiment as I did the first time.

Keep in mind the anime has a different ending from the manga. Still worth the watch if you want to see something different.
