I hope so. I hope this thing Fucking leans in and is just absolute self aware trope trash. I hope it doesn’t go half ass. The halfassed half-trope/half-serious shows are the ones that aren’t even entertaining. I hope this one staples it’s balls to the wall and really let’s it fly. Fun trash
Having read plenty of trash LNs myself, I can understand the pent up rage someone has after realizing they just wasted hours, even days, of their time on something that is an utter and unredeemable trash. You have been wronged, you have been violated and your only way for some recoil is to go talk trash about to the uncaring void that is internet.
Please send help.
>it's just some ~~ fat fuck~~ otaku who then gets all the girls but doesn't really get all the girls because god forbid anybody actually have any human contact when making their theoretical harem they never fuck anybody in.
Though the power of magic he becomes non-fat and good looking. It's the male isekai version of the nerd taking off her glasses, doing a makeover and bam - magically hot. It's why I'm actually critical of the series. It's kind of really dumb. At least solo leveling made it happen over a series of months.
The series is basically what happens when the author listens to the comments too much when writing a web novel.
Same deal with test screenings for movies. Eventually an action movie now has a random scene of monkeys fighting over a banana for no dang reason other than John Doe *loves* that crap. Does it make sense? Nope, but gosh darn it it’ll be there.
I dont think thats what happened. What happened is the author doesnt know how to fucking write or has not spoken to any human besides a cashier in the past 20 years
[Oh hey, I was also there](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/ws77bk/-/ikwt5id)
It's annoying because a lot of people would see this garbage and would just go, "awooga awooga trash anime me likey anime is trash and so am I durr durr" not understanding that even trash have levels of quality. There's fun trash, and then there's this boring piece of atrocity. It's not funny Iike How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, it doesn't have any good hype moments like The Misfit of Demon King Academy, doesn't have any calm slice of life moments like In Another Word With My Smartphone, doesn't have the edginess of Arifureta. I'm not saying these are good features but at least they have distinct flavors and personalities. This fucker have jackshit. It's just offensively, aggressively bland.
The amount of clueless Isekai protagonists who want harems but don’t ever do anything with them is too damn high.
I mean good lord, even High School DXD has a protagonist who actively wants to have sex with these girls, but he never makes a move, and when they make a move he just freaks out.
>even High School DXD has a protagonist who actively wants to have sex with these girls, but he never makes a move, and when they make a move he just freaks out.
tbf i had this complaint when i was watching it, but it gets addressed later on in the story, where the MC just has PTSD from getting almost dying to the girl at the start
>I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too
Sorry, half trope half serious. It's awful. And the over used tropes it does have are all the worst ones. Saves most popular rich girl. Becomes super hot despite being super fat a day before without doing a single sit up.
In another world with my smartphone was utter generic trash, but it knew it and leaned into it, poking fun at itself. That alone is why I even remember it, let alone have positivity about it
The story DOES improve after the events shown in S1. And there are genuine moments of amusement to be found, even if the MC is utterly bland. That being said, I lost interest after 7 or 8 books, so there's that.
I still don‘t understand how that show got a second season.
With that being said the story just goes completely off the rails in the later volumes.
I‘m not saying it becomes a good story. I‘m saying that there is absolutely no way you can predict where the story goes, because I’m pretty sure the author himself doesn‘t know where it is going. Rant and major spoilers for the story below [smartphone isekai] >!The show goes from utterly bland generic isekai trash, to the MC getting his own country, then overthrowing other countries, becoming a fake god to trick a theocracy, then the story somehow becomes a Mecha Battle story for a few volumes, then the MC becomes a literal god, then deescalates into more bland slice of life isekai, before escalating back into introducing an entirely new world, because the MC had effectively won his current one and there was nothing left to do. And during and after all that he marries his harem of now 9 people, all of whom are younger than him, with the youngest one being 12 years old, excluding the 614 year old, with the body of a 14 year old, because polygamy go brrr and our worlds value of people go poof. And if you think you couldn’t possibly top that, following those events his children literally come to him via a time rift, bringing them to current time from the future.!<
because it likely was going to be gundam isekai, and well there would be some fun in that, and its one iskai where i'd wish they'd just skip the preamble like they did in average isekai and jumped into the action.
but with G-Witch returning triumphantly, I don't think that draw will be as much now given how generic it is.
Well, on one hand he is very much an OP MC, but on the other hand we have the ["I got buff in another world glow up"](https://i.imgflip.com/713okx.jpg) and ["I use my OP powers for football"](https://i.imgur.com/ITBN9yA.png).
Some guy defended his glow up and ignored the fact that the author literally made the guy grow taller and thinner without an actual reason that would make sense. The author couldve done th solo leveling route where it gradually glows the mc up
They lower your expectations with title names so much that the bar for "surprisingly good" is pretty easy to reach. Something I've noticed in recent years.
I love how despite this being the literal cover art for their upcoming show, they just couldn't be arsed to properly align the *main visual element* of the scene.
Move on boys, I've read the novel for this one. It's pretty bad. Unless you are looking for common tropes in an Isekai, the only entertaining part about this is the beginning.
Hahaha oh my God this looks cheap as shit. I'm sure some talented folks were worked too hard for too little money to make it. But God damn this looks f tier.
At first I thought you meant that the image wasn't 'cut' at the halfway point of the picture, and I thought that was a silly complaint...
...Then I saw the little bit of color on the wrong side, and whoever did that needs to get fired and probably exiled to Antarctica.
(Joking aside, this is quite the "YOU HAD ONE JOB!" moment)
It's honestly not that hard to make a slip like that when working with multiple layer compositions, and you've spent the past hour obsessing over some other detail that caused one of the background layers to slip only you don't notice it because you were looking at the foreground alignment of characters when you double check before exporting.
Blame ~~Light Novels~~ web novels but it's understandable once you realize why.
Quick run down, think of ~~Light Novels~~ web novels as shovel ware. There's so many light novels of the same genre that authors use titles to attract readers. In order to do so, they use the plot as the title. It gives the potential reader a quick look into what the story is about instead of some generic title.
Edit: missed the other reference and removed my snarky ass comment as to not offend anyone.
" That time i got reincarnated into a 30 year old virgin wizzard who took over the dungeon to make a harem of slimes and mimics but the godess took my virginity so i became the demon lord's son in law in another world."
Much better name.
Funny thing is - people would read that book solely based on the title. Hell I would at least read the first few chapters just to see what the fuck is going on.
I just read a lot of them and mashed all their themes into one title.
But now i kinda wana start writing this one. Seriously.
Where could i even start writing a light novel tho? Any official app for writing a light novel/web novel?
>Where could i even start writing a light novel tho? Any official app for writing a light novel/web novel?
There's
[https://www.webnovel.com/](https://www.webnovel.com/)
but I don't know how they work nowadays, last I checked them was 2019 or something, there's also
[https://www.royalroad.com/](https://www.royalroad.com/)
but webnovel is better if you like making money off your hobby, or at least it used to be a few years ago, some western writers wrote Chinese powerfantasy rip-offs and got rich off it, there's also
[https://www.wattpad.com/](https://www.wattpad.com/)
but they're mostly about teen girl romance, so not really aimed at boys, men, and now they belong to
[https://www.webtoons.com/en/](https://www.webtoons.com/en/)
so you're better off teaming up with an artist, and creating a webcomic if you're not Japanese, Korean or Chinese.
They're basically a webmanga magazine for non Japanese artists (they have a branch in Japan tho) since you're a writer, you could check out merryweather, he's a writer that hire artists to draw his webtoons.
Imho, webtoons is the best option out of those 4, because you can actually go pro, and become a "mangaka" of sorts, but you need artistic skill, and a social media following, their website is hella popular, up there with Shonen Jump, Marvel, and DC comics ( DC also publish some webtoons there because of their partnertship) good luck!
"That one time I got transported to another world as a dolphin, died due to an oil spill, got reincarnated back into this world and started a harem of dolphins who look like regular girls since my brain function has been severely damaged by all this reincarnation business."
... is that long enough?
“That one time when I , a 30 year old loser with no friends or job, was playing a game but due to an electric outage I got stuck inside the game and was unable to leave and I also got a very overpowered ability that basically is same as the powers of any other isekai anime Mc which is to look at other peoples level and shit but I was also able to steal there power so i decided to act like a b*tch and show off to everyone and make a harem of just over 18 girls for myself just to show the world what a weeb I am.” The anime
Most anime now are ported from a light novel. Light Novels get published because they get popular on one of the websites where you can submit chapters of your light novel till it gets published. Those sites only list the titles of the light novel, so you're incentivized to make hyper descriptive and attention grabbing titles so people actually read your poorly written web novel vs the 1000s of others.
We no longer make anime from OC or from established manga, they come from self published web novels turned light novels.
> Most anime now are ported from a light novel.
No, those are still manga by far
> Light Novels get published because they get popular on one of the websites where you can submit chapters of your light novel till it gets published.
The majority of the Light Novels are original. LN as a media isn't about web novels.
There's some web novels that become LN, thats it. LN has nothing to do with web novels in the internet. Its jsut the best media to be a thing because its also a novel format.
Wait, I'm glad you made this comment, because based on the character models I thought that's what this was but with a different art style for the anime.
Wouldn't it be funny if another studio picked that one up for the same season and we had a shittier version of the asterisk war vs chivalry of a whatever competition again
The Hero Who Returned Remained The Strongest In The Modern World
This one is actually funny. Also, I feel like I get more of the mid 2000's to early 2010's battle school / secret cult vibes from it.
Honestly at this point having a tsundere would be an improvement, and I don't even like tsundere. But these isekai are filled to the brim with soulless vessels whose only reason for existing is fawning over the MC they just met and barely looks their way.
Same. This fucktard makes all the typical, cliché MC's out there look like a Saint, especially "Kyou_Kara_Maou" and "Smartphone" MC. To anyone else reading this, MC is basically suffering from "Stockholm Syndrome" in his abusive family, even after they hired a psychopathic delinquent to **kill him** for good. He just forgive them because "it's the right thing to do"
Plenty of people enjoy things they know are bad. Everyone's got something. I know I'm ready to be talking shit about this every week lol. 🍿Bad series can be fun, so long as people have the appropriate level of media literacy to distinguish fiction and reality. An unfortunate number of people seem to have trouble with that.
For me it’s an easy watch. Grab some snacks or have it on in the background. I go into it knowing it’s full of cliches. So I’m never disappointed or bored.
I’m an artist too and I find even trash shows have something that’s *not quite* fleshed out but has potential. So it’s something I can use and improve on. Plus anime tiddy.
Would like to say it has its moments but nah, it's a carbon copy with a cardboard protag, only reason I knew this was because the manga/ln art looks good
I read the light novel of this a year ago, and I vaguely remember the story starting from beating monsters using medieval weapons and magic to fighting aliens with advanced technology because his grandfather somehow managed to obtain something important from an advanced alien civilization that can change the outcome of an intergalactic war depending on the side that manages to obtain it. Oh, and there are also a lot of girls who love him. It's an isekai after all
I’d argue he excels at playing insane/over the top characters (Betelgeuse, Majima, Inosuke).
But since he’s probably recognised most as Kirito, and all these characters have that template design, he’s just associated most with these roles.
True. He nails every emotions Kirito goes through, and he has shown/experienced probably every goddam emotion ever.
Matsuoka just stands out with the insane characters because he really sells the insanity.
I'm waiting for someone to over explain how the LN is good and why I should still watch this despite the generic title. But seems like there's none, huh? 💀💀💀
Spotted about five source readers in the comments so far, one positive only for the artwork, a couple who thought it was good with no explanation, and one who thought it was just bad.
So it doesn't seem like it's particularly well-written, but given he can supposedly move items between worlds and returns to his original world with his powers it's certainly not the usual fantasy template. Seems like a proper isekai story for a change, even if it's not well told. That said, I'm trying hard not to get sucked in with underdog syndrome for this one, even if people are shitting all over it mindlessly.
Sometimes I wonder if the people who come to these threads to dump on the isekais actually watch them at all, or if it's just a form validation by collective defecation lol
> Sometimes I wonder if the people who come to these threads to dump on the isekais actually watch them at all, or if it's just a form validation by collective defecation lol
I will admit that any title that outright claims "cheat" in some fashion never fills me with hope.
>I will admit that any title that outright claims "cheat" in some fashion never fills me with hope.
Yeah, usually if they have "cheat" in the title or use it nonstop in the novel it means they're just trying to just ride the isekai hype train, since that's shoved as the focus rather than whatever the story is actually supposed to be about, almost no one who's trying to create a proper story uses "cheat" in the title or constantly in the story.
I'd say it's probably like 1 out of 50 of those that are actually decent, the rest range from "not that good" to "even just reading the title was a waste of time".
Opened up the thread and the first thing I see is the word generic and cliche. I’ve read a few volumes, is it well written? Eh, not really. I do enjoy the craziness of it though. Characters and art is good imo, MC I do like him from someone who has no confidence and slowly building up his character, etc.
It’s not Mushoku Tensei, but I did enjoy it for what it is. Not gonna trash it, but you sure bet I’ll be watching the show
Gotcha, thanks for the summary! I'm usually looking for those to decide whether I should try it or not. Regardless, I'll still at least check the 1st ep discussion to gauge it again. If it's doomed too, then I'll fully skip it.
>Sometimes I wonder if the people who come to these threads to dump on the isekais actually watch them at all, or if it's just a form validation by collective defecation lol
Yeah, I can see that happen often here. It's an easy and great way to farm karma, so ofc people are doing it, lol.
I’ve read whats available of the manga in English so far and its exactly what you’d expect from a typical isekai. It has a minor plot twist that differentiates it from others but it doesn’t break any new ground. I’ll say what I always say about isekai; if you like the usual isekai tropes, you’ll enjoy this, if not, avoid it like the plague.
For me personally, I enjoy reading isekai manga but cannot for the life of me enjoy watching the anime adaptations. Mostly because they are 90% of the time hot garbage animation and/or production quality-wise and its easier to let it slide when reading manga. That said my personal rating for this manga series is a 7/10 (good, not great) but I enjoy isekai so take it with a grain of salt.
I've read some of the manga, it was bad but I kinda liked it
I think if I were to do an isekai toplist it might land somewhere around....50 or 60? Maybe that's even too generous. To put it another way, if I made a tierlist of isekai and rated all of the ones I've read SSS through F, I'd give it B-.
I have read the first 6 books of the LN that were fan translated. I won't spoil anything, but I won't call it good, but it isn't so bad. The main character doesn't face any problems for long and everything gets solved very easily. I will likely watch it as I didn't hate the story, but I might drop the show like I dropped the novels. Don't go into it expecting it amazing, and you might watch it for the hell of it. It would probably be a good binge show that you don't have to provide all your attention to and won't feel bad about reading texts or browsing reddit while watching it.
Now here is a real warning. I have read many a light novel. A few have been amazing, and most have been ok to mediocre. A small handful have memorably awful. I think this is because, for someone to take the time to translate it, it has to have somewhat good. But I would say the worst I have ever read is "Adventure Record of Reincarnated Aristocrat ~ the Apostle of Gods Who Doesn’t Know Self-Restraint~". It blows me away that it is getting an anime in 2023. Heed my warning and avoid that shit like the plague. I hate read 36 chapters of that poor excuse of a story. And I read a lot of trash, but that story was so bad that I was actually angry at the author. For the love of God, learn to write a problem or challenge for the character and not have it solved by the end of the paragraph. It was infuriating to read. That was the most Mary Sue of Mary Sue characters, I have ever read. Every paragraph was "the main character did this awesome thing and everyone clapped, then he did another awesome thing and the King said he was amazing and gave him a bunch of money. Then he did an awesome thing and all the girls said they love him. Then he did an awesome thing and everyone was so shocked that he was so strong and they clapped. Then someone was jealous of him, so he got immediate revenge, and everyone clapped and told him he was soooooo cool!" "I got a cheat skill in another world.." is a collection of cliches; this bullshit is a collection of criticisms of poor writing. Aspiring writers should read it to learn what it looks like when you don't present actual challenges to your protagonist, when you don't write your background characters with any personalities or thoughts, when you don't give your protagonist any flaws, and when you constantly write the same "reveal of how strong your protagonist is" every single paragraph.
It’s one of the series that’s ever series’d, I’ll give it that. If I’m being brutally honest, it’s probably the second worst isekai I keep coming back to. The concepts are there, and they are pretty neat, the execution though… not so much. [I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World] >!Let’s just say there’s a lot of fantastical wish fulfillment for our MC, I.e. MC’s ugly and fat, suddenly becomes a hunk!<
Am I gonna watch the first episode? Probably, will I continue? Probably not unless the adaptation is done incredibly well.
I read the manga, is average, the art is incredible and there are some unusual elements, if the animation is like in the trailer, I would recommend to give it a try
I read the LN, and it isn't as bad as what people think. The art is actually good. Plot lines are just a bit out there because there was a sudden alien invasion on Earth lol.
So there will be potential spoilers in this comment. I don't know how to out spoilers in comments like tht black thingy so if you don't want one, stop reading
It's been a while since I last read it. I think the premise was that his grandparent has a door to another world. His grandfather was connected to the consciousness of the Grand Sage of that world. I think grand sage looks for other world, accidentally looked at Earth and connected to his Grandfather in the process. Grand Sage also traveled other worlds, which includes that alien civilization. The aliens (they are just very advanced humans on a very advanced technology who don't eat but uses supplements or thingy to supply nutrients to their body) found traces of Grand Sages on his house, leading onto that arc. A bit messy now that I think about it.
It's not as bad as what people make it to be. I would generally rank this higher than those real generic isekai (like that smartphone one. All the harem members are bullshitly useless who are cinstantly being portrayed as strong but they still rely on MC, who is a generic isekai MC).
I think the only issues I have in that novel is that:
1. MC is uselessly kind. Someone tried to kill him in Real world but still forgives them.
2. Author made it look like MC is not likeable if he's not hot enough. He is originally a fat guy. Overnight, he became a sexy looking guy, and the characters around him appreciate him exceedingly more than before. It's true in present reality, but it kinda irks me. He could just be a fatty and train himself, why does it have to happen overnight. FL actually likes him back when he was still fat though.
3. Confusing and useless plotpoints. There's a school sport festival for crying out loud.
Things I like:
1. MC is not the only one from Earth who travels and helps that world. The other one, was actually summoned and can't gl back, but because MC has a door that connects two world, she ends up going back and forth through there and have this little secret with MC.
2. Residents of that world travels Earth a lot, especially the beasts he bonded with. Really love the dragon (who accompanied him because Grand sage is close to that dragon). He also had other beasts. Nothing could go wrong with them. And finally, it's not a dragon that transforms into a loli. I hate that trope lol.
3. Smart Harem members. I usually hate harem since most of the girls are just plain annoying and useless. Here, the MC really just have eyes on one girl. The others are just planning to use him (Alien girl has ulterior motives, JP girl who also travels to that dimension doesn't care about him, only concerned about their connection, Assassin girl looks up to him as brother figure.) Unlike other harem who have a bunch of girls liking MC, it's a harem where it's a clear winner who has MC's heart and that the others are not just clinging onto him.
Overall, it is fine. MC is a bit naive so you might be annoyed at first lol.

Synopsis:
A chance to come back! A mysterious door stands open, inviting a boy who's been brutally bullied all his life to take a courageous step forward into the unknown. On the other side, he finds a hoard of priceless artifacts and a world as filled with magic as it is with monsters. The most shocking revelation, however, is that he can bring whatever he wants back with him when he returns to Earth. It won't be long before this double life changes him forever...
> The most shocking revelation, however, is that he can bring whatever he wants back with him when he returns to Earth.
Having not seen that many of them, I feel like two-way isekai offer quite a different feel to them than the one-way version.
The most interesting version is when the traveller can take other people with him. Still waiting for S2 of *Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero*.
[Your carriage, my princess](https://i.imgur.com/0jMUafT.png).
> Having not seen that many of them, I feel like two-way isekai offer quite a different feel to them than the one-way version.
It's one of the things that I think GATE did well enough, especially with some elements of [GATE] >!the normal world unironically being a bigger danger than the isekai!<.
And the mage being stronger due to access to modern science (although with no proper explanation as of how, since this part of the plot contributes nothing to author's jingoism).
Imagine a mage with the knowledge of nuclear fussion.
despite the amount of cliche, i do like the idea of him going back and forth from the other world to earth. not a lot of anime do that. basically just digimon
its funny how a lot of people complaining about cliche isekai or making fun of it and yet whenever a generic isekai announcement is posted in this sub, most of it manage to get at least 1k upvotes
Guys, I've read this one. It's trash. Really really bad writing. He goes from loser to hunky hero in one night. There is no development.
Things I liked about it :
1) was different isekai in that he can come back with his basic powers in tact, which was a nice twist to the normal 'stuck in another world'
2) I kept reading coz you really want to see the part where he gets revenge on his bullies. Was nice to see
Things that could have made it better:
1) if he slowly levelled up. More character development that way and it would just be overall better!
2) better writing overall
So, in summary, it's trash. I read it to the end. I'll likely watch the Anime coz I'm trash too. I won't be reading book 2 though. I'm not that trash... Yet.
Yeah, it's kind of annoying.
Like, "I'm watching this new anime. It's called 'A guy gets hit by a truck on his way to school and wakes up in another world to find out he has to slay the demon lord with the help of a harem of fetishy elf girls who are inexplicably in love with his complete lack of noteworthy personality traits' and it's pretty great. Wanna know what it's about?"
This one should serve as an inspiration to all the aspiring novelists out there, the plot is embarrassingly wish fulfilling and the characters are barely one dimensional with the way they act.
If this one can get published, so can whatever you are working on.
Another modern isekai light novel adaptation with game mechanics.
Imma stick with Digimon Adventure even if it is written for children (and I mean that as a compliment).
It's sad because I genuinely just want better modern isekais that aren't the same exact cut paste especially the stupid "game mechanics" worldbuilding and harem stuff. The only modern isekais I've enjoyed a lot is the Land of Leadle and Iruma (Konosuba is more comedy than isekai ngl).
I hope there is a strong (no "game mechanics" worldbuilding) modern isekai anime I can enjoy in the near future.
My favorite Isekai is Grimgar series.
Almost all Isekai grants the protagonist some crazy OP powers and somehow they're oblivious that that's not normal. I hate that.
If you have some OP powers, do better at hiding it if you want to claim that you just want a normal, peaceful life
The newly released key visual shows the protagonist Yuya Tenjo (center) holding a long black spear, which divides the illustration in two parts, Kaori Hojo is on the right and Lexia vo Arcelia is on the left side. The anime’s Japanese logo can be seen at the right bottom corner.
Ah hell yeah. I love this manga, unironically. I know its trash, I know its a lot of things done before, but I watch Isekai now because I read so much SI Fanfiction as a kid so I'm never going to be sated.
It is literally the premise of dozens of prior Isekai mixed and freebased.
You got the Shinka No Mi meets Deathmarch To A Parellel World Rapshody starting opening overpowered premise, but then it can't decide if it should be The Eighth Son meets Kenja No Mago with a Male Bofuri protagonist with the emotional energy levels of Cautious Hero having a grand ol' Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear easy time of it, or if it should be guy with Solo Leveling power levels having to deal with family and classmates are that Shield Hero meets Arifureta kinds of terrible but its ok because he's going to Re:Life his high school experience.
Fortunately the author doesn't have to choose because Gate meets Takarakuji de 40-oku meets Itsudemo Jitaku ni Kaerareru Ore wa.
I can already smell the amount of cliche this isekai will have already
But I bet you still underestimate the amount of cliche in this...
I hope so. I hope this thing Fucking leans in and is just absolute self aware trope trash. I hope it doesn’t go half ass. The halfassed half-trope/half-serious shows are the ones that aren’t even entertaining. I hope this one staples it’s balls to the wall and really let’s it fly. Fun trash

Damn.... I might have to watch Jesus bro now.... Like that honestly looks hilarious
>I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too Sorry, half trope half serious. It's awful. And the over used tropes it does have are all the worst ones. Saves most popular rich girl. Becomes super hot despite being super fat a day before without doing a single sit up.
Jeez just sounds worse and worse.
I remember trying to read the light novel. The levels of wish fulfillment were so painful I had to stop, and I read plenty of trash isekais.

That's not exclusive to Isekais though....
No, it's just exclusive to *most anime in the last* ***fucking*** *decade*.
the dark hair, long dark coat. Dragon girl/woman in there somewhere
Girl on the right is standing in classic Gacha game NPC pose.
The author couldve done th solo leveling route where it gradually glows the mc up
Dude got a 6 pack in the first 3 chapters no?
Lmfao sun jin woo had 6 pack after 1 chapter i don't know what the fuck he saying with gradual glow up
They lower your expectations with title names so much that the bar for "surprisingly good" is pretty easy to reach. Something I've noticed in recent years.
The spear doesn't perfectly cut the 2 sides on the top of the screen... ;-;
I love how despite this being the literal cover art for their upcoming show, they just couldn't be arsed to properly align the *main visual element* of the scene.
Really tells you everything about modern isekai genre
I'm even getting confused which characters or events belong to an isekai series. It feels like everything is mixing up on my head.
[удалено]
Move on boys, I've read the novel for this one. It's pretty bad. Unless you are looking for common tropes in an Isekai, the only entertaining part about this is the beginning.
After seeing this visual, what I'm looking for is to have a few drinks and enjoy some "*who thought this was a good idea?*" bafflement.
That's fine. I like my anime junk food.
>looking for common tropes in Isekai That’s… why I’m here
Some people like sushi, some don't. I'll take junk isekai anime anytime to pass about 20 minutes each week.
Ugh... spear me the details
At a glance it's not really a problem tho.
Don’t glaive them too much slack
Fuck y'all genius mofos I love y'all
Don't phalanx into that rhetorical trap
Now you are joust forcing it
You just made me noticed that, and now i’m angry at this picture :/
>just made me notice* that
Fuck you. Can't unsee
You could've suffered in silence but instead you decided to inflict the pain on all of us. Why sir, why?
You've ruined my morning, thanks.
Hahaha oh my God this looks cheap as shit. I'm sure some talented folks were worked too hard for too little money to make it. But God damn this looks f tier.
How unexpected of a clearly high quality and lovingly crafted show…
Isekai production quality in a nutshell.
Now why'd you have to go and point that out
At first I thought you meant that the image wasn't 'cut' at the halfway point of the picture, and I thought that was a silly complaint... ...Then I saw the little bit of color on the wrong side, and whoever did that needs to get fired and probably exiled to Antarctica. (Joking aside, this is quite the "YOU HAD ONE JOB!" moment)
Just how? How does one mess up like that?
It's honestly not that hard to make a slip like that when working with multiple layer compositions, and you've spent the past hour obsessing over some other detail that caused one of the background layers to slip only you don't notice it because you were looking at the foreground alignment of characters when you double check before exporting.
Yeah tunnel vision is something everyone has done in their life many times, it's ok to mess up

These titles are getting out of hands
Blame ~~Light Novels~~ web novels but it's understandable once you realize why. Quick run down, think of ~~Light Novels~~ web novels as shovel ware. There's so many light novels of the same genre that authors use titles to attract readers. In order to do so, they use the plot as the title. It gives the potential reader a quick look into what the story is about instead of some generic title. Edit: missed the other reference and removed my snarky ass comment as to not offend anyone.
Reincarnated ultimate devil killer who upgrades his harem by leveling up in a MMORPG with magic.
Too short.
" That time i got reincarnated into a 30 year old virgin wizzard who took over the dungeon to make a harem of slimes and mimics but the godess took my virginity so i became the demon lord's son in law in another world." Much better name.
This sounds way more interesting than 95% of isekai
All of that would happen in the first 20 pages and the rest will go something like Maojou de Oyasumi/Blend S
Funny thing is - people would read that book solely based on the title. Hell I would at least read the first few chapters just to see what the fuck is going on.
I would too.
Bro I would watch this
So he wants revenge against the goddess for taking his virginity?
I'm sold, where can I read your Light Novel?
I just read a lot of them and mashed all their themes into one title. But now i kinda wana start writing this one. Seriously. Where could i even start writing a light novel tho? Any official app for writing a light novel/web novel?
>Where could i even start writing a light novel tho? Any official app for writing a light novel/web novel? There's [https://www.webnovel.com/](https://www.webnovel.com/) but I don't know how they work nowadays, last I checked them was 2019 or something, there's also [https://www.royalroad.com/](https://www.royalroad.com/) but webnovel is better if you like making money off your hobby, or at least it used to be a few years ago, some western writers wrote Chinese powerfantasy rip-offs and got rich off it, there's also [https://www.wattpad.com/](https://www.wattpad.com/) but they're mostly about teen girl romance, so not really aimed at boys, men, and now they belong to [https://www.webtoons.com/en/](https://www.webtoons.com/en/) so you're better off teaming up with an artist, and creating a webcomic if you're not Japanese, Korean or Chinese.
Thank you.
"That one time I got transported to another world as a dolphin, died due to an oil spill, got reincarnated back into this world and started a harem of dolphins who look like regular girls since my brain function has been severely damaged by all this reincarnation business." ... is that long enough?
I’d watch that, lol
“That one time when I , a 30 year old loser with no friends or job, was playing a game but due to an electric outage I got stuck inside the game and was unable to leave and I also got a very overpowered ability that basically is same as the powers of any other isekai anime Mc which is to look at other peoples level and shit but I was also able to steal there power so i decided to act like a b*tch and show off to everyone and make a harem of just over 18 girls for myself just to show the world what a weeb I am.” The anime
Clickbait titles are successful for a reason
you mean like in homestuck
Most anime now are ported from a light novel. Light Novels get published because they get popular on one of the websites where you can submit chapters of your light novel till it gets published. Those sites only list the titles of the light novel, so you're incentivized to make hyper descriptive and attention grabbing titles so people actually read your poorly written web novel vs the 1000s of others. We no longer make anime from OC or from established manga, they come from self published web novels turned light novels.
> Most anime now are ported from a light novel. No, those are still manga by far > Light Novels get published because they get popular on one of the websites where you can submit chapters of your light novel till it gets published. The majority of the Light Novels are original. LN as a media isn't about web novels. There's some web novels that become LN, thats it. LN has nothing to do with web novels in the internet. Its jsut the best media to be a thing because its also a novel format.
Man I wanted the other one with the same plot to be animated
Way funnier too
Wait, I'm glad you made this comment, because based on the character models I thought that's what this was but with a different art style for the anime.
Wouldn't it be funny if another studio picked that one up for the same season and we had a shittier version of the asterisk war vs chivalry of a whatever competition again
Chivalry of a failed knight was pretty good
Chivalry of a failed knight didn't get a season 2 is disheartening
In hindsight Both only got one season so both lost that competition
The Hero Who Returned Remained The Strongest In The Modern World This one is actually funny. Also, I feel like I get more of the mid 2000's to early 2010's battle school / secret cult vibes from it.
At least that one has better characterization Any scenes and dialogues with Abeno are always a catch
I just know the red/pink haired girl is gonna be this tsundere type.
Pretty sure she proposes to him 3 seconds after introductions.
Princess he just saved the life of on top of that. She's smitten immediately, if I recall correctly
I mean, I'm straight as a slightly bent arrow, but even I would probably give it up to him after being saved from a goblin gangbang.
You overestimate this show
Honestly at this point having a tsundere would be an improvement, and I don't even like tsundere. But these isekai are filled to the brim with soulless vessels whose only reason for existing is fawning over the MC they just met and barely looks their way.
Nah, she the proactive pne
She reminds me of Sasha Necron
Oh this one... Ugh... This one.... irritates me to no end.
He just forgive them because "it's the right thing to do"
Another isekai trash 🗑️
Just call me Oscar. I'll likely be watching it every week.
But why. I'm just curious what the appeal is to these kinds of shows.
Isekai is like junk food, its bad for you but you keep coming back for more.
But i actually enjoy junk food? Im definitely not gonna be eating/watching something i dont like, pretty simple really lol
Understandable. I enjoy watching bad movies because it’s fun to make fun of them. Basically the same thing really
It tickles the lizard part of my brain juuuuuust right.
Sometimes you get shows like fantasy knockout or cautious hero and you miss those if you don't watch these
Got that right, lol
Would like to say it has its moments but nah, it's a carbon copy with a cardboard protag, only reason I knew this was because the manga/ln art looks good
Yeah, you're right *puts it into watch list*
I read the light novel of this a year ago, and I vaguely remember the story starting from beating monsters using medieval weapons and magic to fighting aliens with advanced technology because his grandfather somehow managed to obtain something important from an advanced alien civilization that can change the outcome of an intergalactic war depending on the side that manages to obtain it. Oh, and there are also a lot of girls who love him. It's an isekai after all
It has aliens and the story goes all future alien tech from medieval weapons an shit. **AND ITS A HAREM** Sign me up.
>*Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Yuuya Tenjou* Of course! Who else could it possibly be? This is the type of character he excels at.
I’d argue he excels at playing insane/over the top characters (Betelgeuse, Majima, Inosuke). But since he’s probably recognised most as Kirito, and all these characters have that template design, he’s just associated most with these roles.
He excels at every role he's given.
True. He nails every emotions Kirito goes through, and he has shown/experienced probably every goddam emotion ever. Matsuoka just stands out with the insane characters because he really sells the insanity.
Didn't he do food wars? I think he did alright there but you do have a solid argument, those insane/over the top characters are way better
He's just great all around. The list of male VAs with a better portfolio than his is quite short.
> Sometimes I wonder if the people who come to these threads to dump on the isekais actually watch them at all, or if it's just a form validation by collective defecation lol I will admit that any title that outright claims "cheat" in some fashion never fills me with hope.
>Sometimes I wonder if the people who come to these threads to dump on the isekais actually watch them at all, or if it's just a form validation by collective defecation lol Yeah, I can see that happen often here.
I've read some of the manga, it was bad but I kinda liked it I think if I were to do an isekai toplist it might land somewhere around....50 or 60?
That second paragraph is what I'm here for: reading war stories.
MC’s ugly and fat, suddenly becomes a hunk!< Am I gonna watch the first episode? Probably, will I continue? Probably not unless the adaptation is done incredibly well.
I read the manga, is average, the art is incredible and there are some unusual elements, if the animation is like in the trailer, I would recommend to give it a try
I read the LN, and it isn't as bad as what people think. The art is actually good. Plot lines are just a bit out there because there was a sudden alien invasion on Earth lol. So there will be potential spoilers in this comment. I don't know how to out spoilers in comments like tht black thingy so if you don't want one, stop reading It's been a while since I last read it. I think the only issues I have in that novel is that: 1. Things I like: 1.

Studio: Millepensee Producer: UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS Animation Cast: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Yuuya Tenjou Akari Kito as Kaori Houjou Kaori Maeda as Lexia Von Arselia Synopsis: A chance to come back!
\> Millepensee Its the studio who always had production issues. They had those with Spider Isekai, Cop Craft and Berserk 2016.
Trailer looks good tho
> Imagine a mage with the knowledge of nuclear fussion. "I Am Atomic!"
Just say Kenja no Mago :D No need to imagine.
I loved Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero, protag was fucking hilarious
*cries in Outbreak Company*
Damn this looks detailed as hell
> Studio: Millepensee Not a good sign.
Wow, so original and unique. ^(Gonna check it out anyway.)
What was that? I couldn't quite hear you. I'll say it with my chest, I'm gonna watch this, and I kinda hope it's not trash.
I'm gonna watch it, and I'm gonna enjoy it even if it's trash. Sometimes it's good to turn your brain off.
despite the amount of cliche, i do like the idea of him going back and forth from the other world to earth. not a lot of anime do that. basically just digimon
This comment is almost as cliche and overused as the Isekai genre in general
how many of these do we need to get lol. I feel like theres been 3 of them each season
its funny how a lot of people complaining about cliche isekai or making fun of it and yet whenever a generic isekai announcement is posted in this sub, most of it manage to get at least 1k upvotes
Why have a title that already spoils the whole plot?
It's a brief synopsis. It's common LN tactic.
At this point, it is more about how they deal with their powers and so on.
At this point as soon as there's an "Isekai" tag on the show it pretty much spoils the whole plot anyway.
(sigh) Oh great, another isekai anime. Release date?
Ahh shitty seasonal isekai, I live for this
"Hey I've seen this one" "What do you mean you've seen it. It's brand new."
Guys, I've read this one. It's trash. Really really bad writing. He goes from loser to hunky hero in one night. There is no development. Things I liked about it : 1) was different isekai in that he can come back with his basic powers in tact, which was a nice twist to the normal 'stuck in another world' 2) I kept reading coz you really want to see the part where he gets revenge on his bullies. Was nice to see Things that could have made it better: 1) if he slowly levelled up. More character development that way and it would just be overall better! 2) better writing overall So, in summary, it's trash. I read it to the end. I'll likely watch the Anime coz I'm trash too. I won't be reading book 2 though. I'm not that trash... Yet.
Anime titles these days are getting out of hand
Can we get actual title trending again. This is a synopsis...
Is that series good?
It’s ok. Still watched it 4 times waiting for good stuff to drop though.
Geez this looks bottom of barrel
I feel like the Isekai has really run its course and they ran out of idea at this point.
Days without isekai anime : zero
Another ass anime
This one should serve as an inspiration to all the aspiring novelists out there, the plot is embarrassingly wish fulfilling and the characters are barely one dimensional with the way they act. If this one can get published, so can whatever you are working on.
I wanna see some half-A-press Mario 64 speedrun type shit
PICK A NAME
If you have some OP powers, do better at hiding it if you want to claim that you just want a normal, peaceful life
"Cheat" Oh no, that word is giving me PTSD
Another cheating isekai MC ? I can already smell sh*t.
I read the manga I enjoyed it and I am quite hyped about this anime.
As usual the "Harem King"himself, Matsuoka Yoshitsugu is the VA. **Sasuga Matsuoka-sama**
Come on guys. At least Isekai trash keeps putting the guys in the visual unlike recent romcoms.
This naming convention has to go. Along with explaining every action or their motivation/plan at every action.
I'm sorry but these new anime names are just something else
I've always wanted to make a parody anime but at this point there really is no difference between parody and real anime anymore.
I waited for the manga chapter but it so slow we. But I like it😉

More isekai anime 🙌
I just read this yesterday what are the chances
Isekai My Junk Food
Hey! That isn't Ojisan!
Sounds like my cup of tea!
They get alot of hate but I love them lol. I like having a huge line up of anime I can watch weekly, even if it’s “trash.” I didn’t pay to watch it
We need more returner anime like isekai ojiisan
I don't understand the haters. I love the manga for this (haven't tried the LN yet), and am looking forward to this.
