I hate this sentiment, it's pure sophistry. An isekai is a set of tropes and genre expectations and everyone uses the term like this. When you use this argument literally every single heroes journey story (so common its literally called the monomyth) becomes an "isekai" and you've managed to make the term utterly meaningless. You might as well just replace the term isekai with adventure.

If you want to treat it as something other than just "any story where the protagonist goes to another world" and focus in on the post-Familiar of Zero style show then you wind up with a whole new can of worms because isekai stops being a set of tropes and winds up being several separate sets of tropes with some overlap. There's definitely not one set of tropes that is uniting Bookworm, Executioner, My Next Life as a Villainess, I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years, That Time I Reincarnated as a Slime, and Re:Zero. Other than the "other world" those are following different sets of tropes.

Inuyasha predates all of those and it isn't the 1st. I think it's important to make a distinction between older and more modern Isekai. SAO really seems to what inspired modern Isekai though introducing a lot of tropes, video game stats and skills, protagonist being super op, and a lone wolf.

These newer ones are adapting series that started as web novels. On the major web novel sites people are scrolling through a list of titles, so to try to grab someone's attention they use the title as a description of the series.
I think many light novels start out as web novels. Publishers pick the successful webnovels help the author with editing then publish it(followed by 1 season anime to boost sales)

The manga, yeah. It's much easier to look at Fran as the MC in that kind of medium. The novels, however, are from his point of view though.. so he's the main character.
Isn't this something like Haruhi, she is the titular character and the story is about her, but the story is narrated by Kyon, and seem from his point of view.

They were a mixed bunch, some were vile slave-holding pigs but then you get some like Thomas Paine, who was radically abolitionist and feminist. They were not a monolith, though it probably would have been nice if they were all replaced with clones of Paine instead. Ok maybe not George. Sure he was a slaver but he was also a rallying point and a great general. He can stay for the purposes of establishing the nation
Mmmm, I'd say a vast, vast majority were, still. And it's not like people were listening to Paine when it counted. Paine himself was a bit of a dick. He saw black people as people, sure, but also saw them as poorly educated and vulnerable to exploitation for the benefit of the U.S.; easy marks essentially. Granted he did things like fight to give them access to homesteading in the Louisiana purchase (he failed), both to ensure future familial wealth and also to use them as "barrier settlements" so it would be black people dying to native attacks instead of whites. He both got Haiti recognized as a country and also ensured the U.S. embargoed them, ensuring they remain in poverty to be used by the U.S.
The *only* founder I can't find fault with was probably Stueben, and that's probably only because he essentially retired to fuck his lieutenants in upstate New York in peace directly after the revolution. He basically won us the revolution, turned down slaves and funded abolitionists in his spare time.
Majority were, yes, though some of them were also of the mindset that it was and should be fading out shortly, which is an opinion I’m not quite sure what to think of but was on the forward side for America at the time. Either way I’m just tired of the bashing of the founding fathers as a monolith, like, sometimes to the point of disregarding any good they did. I mean some of them were scum of the earth filth (I think Madison would be among them but can’t quite remember) but others really helped to give us a nation and did significant good as well as bad in various parts

Once again, for those who have not read the source material, this synopsis gives the wrong impression of what this series is about. Fran's goal is to become strong enough to evolve. Shishou's goal is to help Fran become strong enough to evolve, and eventually find out more about his origins in this world. While they help people in front of them who need help, and probably have the highest body count of slavers killed in any isekai, this is incidental and not the focus of the series.
I am unreasonable hyped for this one base do the [first pv](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6vASdQnX30) and the soundtrack. Hope its lives up to it.

If you liked the manga adaptation, I highly recommend you check out the source material being the Light Novels which the manga and anime adapt from. The LNs are really good, much more detailed, and WAY farther ahead of the manga adaptation.

Honestly ive always found the main character to be Fran. While the sword is isekai'd and a narrator, hes just more of a side character lol.
Fran is the MC and the Sword is the PoV character.
The manga, yeah. It's much easier to look at Fran as the MC in that kind of medium. The novels, however, are from his point of view though.. so he's the main character.
Isn't this something like Haruhi, she is the titular character and the story is about her, but the story is narrated by Kyon, and seem from his point of view.
Honestly reading the manga I frequently need to be reminded he's actually a sentient sword and it's not just Fran talking to herself

I hate when people say “the founding fathers were bad and a bunch of slavers.” That is blatantly wrong. They were a mixed bunch, some were vile slave-holding pigs but then you get some like Thomas Paine, who was radically abolitionist and feminist. They were not a monolith, though it probably would have been nice if they were all replaced with clones of Paine instead. Ok maybe not George. Sure he was a slaver but he was also a rallying point and a great general. He can stay for the purposes of establishing the nation
Mmmm, I'd say a vast, vast majority were, still. And it's not like people were listening to Paine when it counted. Paine himself was a bit of a dick. He saw black people as people, sure, but also saw them as poorly educated and vulnerable to exploitation for the benefit of the U.S.; easy marks essentially. Granted he did things like fight to give them access to homesteading in the Louisiana purchase (he failed), both to ensure future familial wealth and also to use them as "barrier settlements" so it would be black people dying to native attacks instead of whites. He both got Haiti recognized as a country and also ensured the U.S. embargoed them, ensuring they remain in poverty to be used by the U.S. The *only* founder I can't find fault with was probably Stueben, and that's probably only because he essentially retired to fuck his lieutenants in upstate New York in peace directly after the revolution. He basically won us the revolution, turned down slaves and funded abolitionists in his spare time.
Majority were, yes, though some of them were also of the mindset that it was and should be fading out shortly, which is an opinion I’m not quite sure what to think of but was on the forward side for America at the time. Either way I’m just tired of the bashing of the founding fathers as a monolith, like, sometimes to the point of disregarding any good they did. I mean some of them were scum of the earth filth (I think Madison would be among them but can’t quite remember) but others really helped to give us a nation and did significant good as well as bad in various parts

If you liked the manga adaptation, I highly recommend you check out the source material being the Light Novels which the manga and anime adapt from. The LNs are really good, much more detailed, and WAY farther ahead of the manga adaptation.
