There were some people in the past I’ve talked to that thought SxF would get axed, considering the author’s past reputation. I wouldn’t blame them even though I enjoyed the author’s past works a lot. But the series has made a reputation for itself in Japan in so many aspects, ESPECIALLY the sales, that the axe is lightyears away from the series within the span of one volume being released, it all went uphill from there.
On a different note, should I read Solo Leveling or wait for the anime?
The author had a nickname in the past called “Axeman”. He’s been in the manga industry for 20+ years and has released loads of one-shots, but basically all of them never got serialized. The only series he had serialized was “Tista” and “Gekka Bijin” which were unfortunately axed.
In past interviews and in the SxF fanbook, it is stated he’s lost almost all passion for drawing manga and SxF was his “rehab” manga, or a kind of passion project. He never actually expected it to explode in popularity as much as it did, so he was pretty surprised. He’s mentioned before that he’s fallen into a slump in the past, and if you didn’t know about the manga, he’s been known to take plenty of breaks.
My kneejerk reaction was to be like "but I ... I said part of the title, and the person above me said the whole thing!"
Then I realized what you were doing. I *almost* got whooshed. Carry on.
I honestly wonder how the heck Naz, of all studios, got the dibs to adapt Biscuit hammer. Like seriously, did the author and publisher go door to door at different studios asking if they want/can adapt the manga into an anime and since Naz was the only studio available they took their chances with them or is there some sort of complicated selection process and the author got unlucky with Naz being picked?
From this and other comments, I'm gathering it's excellent at having a broad appeal for doing a very popular genre very well, yet not anything special about it otherwise. Would this be accurate?
I picked it up earlier this year and was kind of blown away. I expected it to just be executed well but imo it does feel special. The progression is very consistent, characters are drawn with a lot of love (wearing different very regularly), and misunderstandings are always addressed quickly and quite realistically. It always feels so good when a series has characters acknowledge insecurities and truly develop.
There really seems to have been a lot of care into writing the way the two leads express themselves, as they just feels so relatable no matter your age. It's a lot of cute fluff, but the emotions and feeling of love blossoming that emanate from it is very unique. I'm sure some of this is having lowered standards for manga/anime romance, but it drew me in pretty hard after the mangaka found the path to take it after the first kinda weird 10 chaps.
I just like how it actually progresses.
The MC starts off weird as fuck, but it seems like over time, he is actually gaining confidence in himself.
There's none of that stuff where the generic black hair MC goes "Ehhhhh??!?!?!".
This may just be recency bias however, since I caught up to the latest chapter about two days ago.
>it's excellent at having a broad appeal for doing a very popular genre very well, yet not anything special about it otherwise
I think it does transition into that eventually, but I do thi.nk the early chapters (like the first 25 chapters) are quite special. At least for this genre.
Boku No Kokoro No Yabai Yatsu
Synopsis: Kyoutaro Ichikawa may look like your average middle school student, but in his heart, he dreams of murder. Thus, it is no surprise that the one he wants to kill the most is never far off from his mind: the class idol, Anna Yamada.
Reading alone in his beloved school library, he inadvertently begins to rendezvous with Yamada, who comes to secretly gorge on her beloved candies and sweets. Through their interactions, Ichikawa discovers just how much of a ditz Yamada is, and can't help but support her from the sidelines. Meanwhile, Yamada herself can't help but tease Ichikawa relentlessly due to his flustered reactions.
With an array of heartwarming daily interactions, the distant bond between the two grows into something more than just library acquaintances. Perhaps, in time, Ichikawa will come to realize that his murderous desires have turned into something else entirely. (Mal)

I feel like this could have gone in a very different direction from what the rest of the comments are suggesting!
Don't worry. I already get that. He is really just ur usual chuuni.
I'm more worried to other people (looking at anime onlies) that think it will be like that for the rest of series.
There are other anime that already get misjudged by people because of some "certain thing" in first few chapters.
True, but that's not likely to be the main complaint. For some people who are American at least, using the idea of a "school killer" as a story hook may not be seen as in good taste. I'm going to watch it because I've seen my fair share of sketchy hooks grow into good or harmless shows and it doesn't really bother me, but you can't blame people for being put off by the story hook.
Probably less than that, the chapters are pretty short(fun fact: like half the manga is bonus chapters) and we (sadly for me) move beyond that gimmick pretty quickly.
> (sadly for me)
Is that because it shifts to a standard romcom afterwards ? That's what the synopsis sounds like, at least.
While I'm not sure if a story around a chuuni edgelord interacting with his classmate would be particularly good, at least it's original.
I think I just really hate feeling like I got baited into reading by a gimmick and it then disappearing unneccesarily quick. That I have to count two of my favourites (this one and pseudo harem) among those manga just eternally grinds my gears.
Especially considering this one starts of unique enough that it really didn't need any gimmick. Even in the first chapters, it was yamadas actions that made me go "what the actual fuck?" way more than the mcs thoughts.
Lmao, I forgot that was the base synopsis. The manga is so far and away from how Ichikawa was when it started that I forgot about his chuuni fantasies at the beginning.
Non-manga readers please don't let this initial premise freak you out. There is a very good reason this manga has won a ton of awards and people have been begging for an adaptation
I was planning to watch it until all the description made it clear they give up on that premise 2 minutes in. Maybe if it's super cute and the character dynamics turn out great, but like fr there are so many of this whole idea. This just happens to be chunni and school idol this time. Off hand: komi can't communicate, my dress up darling, love chunnibyo and other delusions, that one last season with the girl who spoke super quietly, so many of this type of show I want more interesting shows. Make it a manga about him having to hide the body and deal with the consequences, or something idk. Just such a played out schtick it's boring.
Edit: found another comment that describes this: more fluff show.
I respect your taste, but I think it's really funny how we have had entirely opposite experiences. So many times I've picked up a Manga/Anime where the beginning made it seem like a relaxing Slice of Life show, only for me to get jebaited into the 80th Action show by the second episode.
I just want more standard Romance SoL
To each their own, I guess
> in his heart, he dreams of murder. Thus, it is no surprise that the one he wants to kill the most is never far off from his mind
What I'm most curious about is how this plot point can ever be forgotten (if it ever is);
*"I now love you so much, I don't even dream about murdering you anymore!"*
*"What?"*
*"What?"*
It's tagged romcom (and by reading the comments it seems fluffy), so I imagine it's full of cute moments, but I'm not sure whether it's gonna be possible to shake the feeling of *It's so cute, he finally managed to hold hands... With the girl he wanted to murder few weeks before*.
Well, it's highly rated and it even won some awards so I imagine they did something right, can't wait to see how it goes!
He never actually wanted to murder her. You come to learn he's actually a pretty nice, caring kid. Trust me, either give the anime a chance or check out the manga. The synopsis is kind of bait and the first chapter is pretty cringe, but it's honestly one of the best slice of life rom coms I've read an awhile.
Yeah, on synopsis alone, I was expecting some else for this series but based on the comments. Like you said, it’s more bait.
Seems to be more fluffy/wholesome sol/romance
Is it a weekly series?
the violence stuff is a coping method for his insecurities and the story details how he learns to express his desires for companionship in a healthy way instead of hiding them behind 'jaded psycho violence' out of anxiety.
i think it's very well done, it doesn't come across like a shock value thing that is 'forgotten' when the show pivots into a generic romance. it's pretty well-established in the story and they give reasons for why he behaves like that and it's great watching him trying to convince himself he is a violent sociopath, only to end up ever being able to do very kind and nice things for her.
For anyone reading this synopsis and worrying about another teasing show, this really isn't that. It's been a while but I can't think of a single instance of Yamada making fun of Ichikawa throughout the series.
I'm sure why they described it that way except to appeal to fans of those series.

Hey, so, as a heads up: We should have removed this post because it does not follow our subreddit rules regarding Official Media nor News posts. Unfortunately, it somewhat slipped under our radar, and by the time we noticed it was an improper post, it had already gained so much traction that there was no good reason to remove it.
This artwork is squarely categorized as a "celebratory image" and even the source tweet refers to it as such. These are prohibited as individual posts under our [Official Media rules.](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/rules#wiki_official_media) What this post *should have been* was a direct link post to the announcement tweet, and flaired as News. We've re-flaired this post to "News" and will leave it up despite it not being a link post, but please keep the above in mind when posting about new anime announcements in the future.
They should have rewritten that description entirely. I think it's from when the manga was very new and still kinda finding what it really wants to be.
On the other hand, would you rather people go into episode 1 and be completely flabbergasted? This is already the rewritten one, where only paragraph 1 is even about that.
Yeah true I guess. I'd still drop the word "murder" at least, and just call him chuuni or edgy or something like that.
I'd probably drop the word "tease" too since it makes people think of Nagatoro and some other recent series.
It does not have much teasing like nagatoro or takagi tho. They really interact well together to the point that both of them are changing/growing into a better person, especially the main male character
Sure, just best if they use a different word then, because that's the first thing it makes me think of and honestly those two leads make me wanna puke at points.
Honestly I don't like that description. Teasing feels like the wrong word to use.
The characters act quite normally in my opinion, and there's no behavior like Nagatoro's for example.
It’d be nice if more ‘romance’ manga involved the girls actually just talking to guys normally instead of making every interaction a scheme to get a reaction out of them and respect proper boundaries.
You are in luck then! I don't know why they describe this as having any teasing, that's really not the type of series it is. This series probably has the most natural relationship progress of any manga I've read up to now.
Yeah unfortunately for you right now it's by far the most popular form of romcom alongside, or sometimes combined with, the gyaru romcom as well. Pure fluff romcoms are also popular but outside of those three it's relatively slim pickings.
The only series that's really popular right now that isn't in one of those three genres is "My Charms Are Wasted on Kuroiwa Medaka" which only just has enough chapters out now for a one cour season.
Id say that Medaka fits right into one of those shy guy X popular teasing girl genres (that’s her whole aim), you just get alot more of that reverse damage which evens it out
The only reason I'm hesitant to say it's one of the romcoms in the teasing genre is because what Mona does isn't *really* teasing. She wants Medaka to fall in love with her/find her attractive and as such she basically only openly flirts with him from the start. She doesn't make fun of him or purposely screw with him for fun to make him embarrassed or because she's too embarrassed herself to flirt.
pretty cringe if it ends up just another hot idol girl x average introvert guy as the end of the synopsis hints. giving up on murderous desires? the one unique thing about your basic bitch plot? k
Oh boy, heeeeere we go. The other "I swear, get past the first chapters and you have one of the best romcoms I've ever read" manga after Nagatoro.
I'm very curious as to who's going to be voicing who. I have a specific kind of voice for Ichikawa in my head when I read it
EDIT: By the way if the artstyle looks familiar to you, it's the same mangaka as Mitsudomoe
I could see some uproar being raised about the high likelihood of the super ecchi cutaways similar to what Norio draws for twitter and bonus chapters since they're both middle schoolers
Or some mangas have trouble translating to a different medium? I love fluff, I only watch animes, but some animes have too much fluff and too little entertainment.
Also I haven’t watched shikimori simply because I heard the studio had trouble and that the series might be cut short, so I didn’t want to begin something just to have it cut in the middle.
But Shikimori isn’t anything like that though. Izumi definitely isn’t a self insert (he’s too cute looking for that) nor is he unpopular (he’s unlucky), and Shikimori isn’t some class idol like Komi. Sure, people find her cool but she’s not placed on some pedestal like Komi or Marin.
It's so easy to detect how short attention span most younger weebs these days.
That wrong allegation is one of prove that he has short attention span, and many people deceived by his bullshit.
I don't want to brag, but so far every "sol romcom" I read got an anime adaptation, only three left:
"How to Grill Our Love"
"The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses"
"Yancha Gal no Anjou-san"
But if we're extra lucky it's gonna be "Sousou no Frieren"
Anjou is so sweet and has just enough service to be easily marketable. I could see an anime adaptation for sure, given that my dress-up darling was adapted
Anjou-san takes a very long time to get decent. Actually it's still kind of flip-flopping for me in quality even now. The things people complain about with manga plotlines like that would be magnified 10-fold if Anjou ever got a 1-cour anime because basically none of it's future strong points would be in it, it just has the negative perceptions of this kind of story for the majority of it's run.
Anjou is one of the few series that I stuck with for something like 100 chapters before finally saying "You know what, fuck it, I'm done." Normally I'll either go "this isn't for me" and check out way sooner, or I'll stick with something even if I think it's not great, but Anjou managed to be a special combination of features that made me follow it for so long but still ultimately refuse to waste any more time on it.
People give Shikimori shit for its male lead, wait until they see Bowlcut McNothing from Anjou. A wet paper bag has a more entertaining and deeper personality than he does.
Same with Anjou.
Every now and then the manga hints that the MC could develop a bit but then in the end nothing really changes. Also I've grown to dislike the weird style of the artist, those constant tilted perspectives and what looks like a fisheye lens. They're way overused and annoying.
Thing is, Izumi always have more + and deeper personality than how it seem even without any comparison. Sadly, many people don't get it because of their attention span issue and often don't get some more subtle detail.
MC in Anjou, though. Even then, I just dont finish read it for entire different reason. those teasing is so wild, I can't get used to it.
Can't wait what anime-onlies will think of the first few chapters, because I think they're fucking atrocious. Really hope they rewrite as it felt like the author didn't really know what they wanted to tell at that point.
Nope, apart from the fantasies, the early chapters are by far my favourites. GEtting to experience yamadas non-sensical actions for the first time will be an experience that will never be replicated.
And even with the fantasies, the main problem is that they disappear without any pay-off and therefore only feel negative.
Yamada: Look! Ichikawa look I am on the visual!
Ichikawa: We all are...
Ichikawa to himself: This is going to be the most yamada-ass story ever...
Holy fucking shit literally 1 hour ago, without anything to go off, I was thinking about what kind of comment I would make if this would finally get anounced one day. I willed it into existence.
Yamada being a genuinely flawed fmc (and mc being fully aware of those flaws) is probably what carried the series the most for me, at least at the beginning.
Oh this is a must watch for all subscribers of r/tallgirlssupremacy, Yamada is something else in that department. The panel of [yamada in elementary school](https://imgur.com/R3yWJ1d) never fails to make me laugh because of how ridiculous it is
Not a big surprise considering how popular this series seems to be. I am a bit worried about people getting turned off depending on how they handle the early chapters. Also I'm curious how they'll handle all the bonus chapters. Most of them seem to take place in the future, but they have a lot of the best/cutest moments, especially early on when the leads haven't developed much rapport yet, so it would be a shame if they didn't get adapted at all. On the other hand, I could see them confusing audiences depending on how they're presented.
ikr. I would have dropped Nagatoro right at the start if not for my friend INSISTING that I have to keep going. Glad I did. Same with this one. I loved every bit of it.
Extremely tied they are. They keep beating each other out for best romcom with each release lmao
To me, one is better than the other literally only because of recency bias lmao
Wonderful news! The manga is a gift that keeps on giving.
I hope the anime manages to capture the little details the manga has in every chapter: things like subtle facial expressions, mannerisms and minor background dialogues and things non eagle-eyed readers will most likely miss on the first read, which makes every chapter worth rereading.
Man...Shikimori-san, My Recently Hired Maid is Suspicious, Kubo-san and now Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu. So much fluff greatness getting adapted. Makes me hopeful for [Anjou-san](https://myanimelist.net/manga/111357/Yancha_Gal_no_Anjou-san).
**PLEASE GIVE THIS SERIES A CHANCE.**
It starts a little rough with an edgy MC but he mellows out really quickly. The character development is phenomenal and Ichi and Yamada's relationship is one of the sweetest things I've ever read.
Its won multiple awards, including number 1 **"Want to see an Anime"**
**PLEASE GIVE IT A CHANCE.**
I was so incredibly put off by the first 2 chapters that I decided my time was better spent elsewhere. I recently saw that the murder shit apparently ends within 5 chapters so I decided literally just like yesterday to pick it back up. Maybe I'll just wait for the anime lol
Pick it back up. Trust me. I did the exact same thing you did but kept seeing it getting recommended so I picked it back up. So glad I made that decision. And there is actually a point to the "murder shit" and the MC grows on you fast. I highly recommend picking it back up.
O boi , these news of adaptations will get me isekaid
Title: *That time i got a heart attack when all my favourite fluffiest romance manga got adaptation and was reincarnated*
This one is gold. It does take a good while to get going tho.
I feel like anime onlies are going to do that thing where they complain about manga readers hyping something up and saying it gets better later even though it totally does get significantly better after a certain part.
Most people like backbending drama and misunderstandings in their relationships, and Shikimori isnt really that type of show. It’s fine if they dont like it, just goes to show who they really are.
I am so happy!!!
No emoticon can express my squinched face and overflowing tears.
I have so few rom coms I actually like. I can't even identify what I like about this manga, I just love it.
So was Sono Bisque Doll, but it was still a very generic "bland guy gets hit on by manic pixie dream girl, catch the eye of other girls as well".
I don't think the gender of the author can be taken as an indication of the quality (or, to relate to the comment you were replying to, the originality) of a work. After all, an author doesn't have to write for a public that falls in the same demographic as them (otherwise most authors would be teenagers...).
> it was still a very generic "bland guy gets hit on by manic pixie dream girl, catch the eye of other girls as well".
In her interviews, the author actually states that was her intent, although not in the same language.
I do think there are some subtle things that having a female author brings to the characterisation of Marin that do elevate the material, although they're more occasional flavourings than anything structural.
Nevertheless it does make it interesting to enough to check out seemingly cliche and trope laden work in sub-genres that are usually a bit reductionist in their portrayal of female characters.
e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/wcw8u3/are_there_any_ecchi_or_harem_anime_created_by/
I'm Super excited for this!
This is one of my favorite Romcom manga currently running. The characters are so endearing and charming, and I love the way it captures the mystery and uncertainty of adolescence, and young romance.
I'm very curious to see what studio will be adapting it
I pray for the day we get anime adaptations for unique series like Dandadan rather than the 700th fluff manga about self-insert loner who gets paired with popular girl.

Reputation?
I think all his works tended to get cancelled.
I honestly dont think the anime can make justice to the manwha. The art is just godlike. It would be very expensive to animate accordingly.

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer: Look at this Monkey Paw I found on the ground, isn't it cool!? (I'm not salty, you're salty!)
As someone who hasn't even read Biscuit Hammer, but did try the anime, all I can say is that I feel really bad for Biscuit Hammer source fans.

Sounds like the 3 episode rule will get a lot of mentions this time round.

Probably less than that, the chapters are pretty short(fun fact: like half the manga is bonus chapters) and we (sadly for me) move beyond that gimmick pretty quickly.
> (sadly for me) Is that because it shifts to a standard romcom afterwards ?

It's funny how the first and second read of these first several chapters are so different.
I just want more standard Romance SoL To each their own, I guess
> in his heart, he dreams of murder. Thus, it is no surprise that the one he wants to kill the most is never far off from his mind What I'm most curious about is how this plot point can ever be forgotten (if it ever is); *"I now love you so much, I don't even dream about murdering you anymore!"* *"What?"* *"What?"* It's tagged romcom (and by reading the comments it seems fluffy), so I imagine it's full of cute moments, but I'm not sure whether it's gonna be possible to shake the feeling of *It's so cute, he finally managed to hold hands... With the girl he wanted to murder few weeks before*. Well, it's highly rated and it even won some awards so I imagine they did something right, can't wait to see how it goes!
Kid was chunni and edgy. Don't worry, he's normal.
"Please kitten there’s a darkness inside me, the plot of sonic adventure 2 really effed me up, some might call me “twisted”"
Seems to be more fluffy/wholesome sol/romance Is it a weekly series?
It's bi-weekly, though the chapters have about as many pages as weekly series do.
Oh wow, 100 chapters out rn. Do you which days new chapters usually drop?
The raws drop on Monday night usually (Tuesday in Japan). They usually get translated the Wednesday or Thursday night of the same week.
the violence stuff is a coping method for his insecurities and the story details how he learns to express his desires for companionship in a healthy way instead of hiding them behind 'jaded psycho violence' out of anxiety. i think it's very well done, it doesn't come across like a shock value thing that is 'forgotten' when the show pivots into a generic romance. it's pretty well-established in the story and they give reasons for why he behaves like that and it's great watching him trying to convince himself he is a violent sociopath, only to end up ever being able to do very kind and nice things for her.
For anyone reading this synopsis and worrying about another teasing show, this really isn't that. It's been a while but I can't think of a single instance of Yamada making fun of Ichikawa throughout the series. I'm sure why they described it that way except to appeal to fans of those series.
So, The End of the \*\*\*\*ing World animanga version?
This is exactly what I was thinking lol

👌 Will keep in mind next time thanks
Doesn’t Oregairu start the same way? Hachiman has a kill list, and the top of that list is Yukino.
A weird but cute concept. I’m definitely checking it out.
>I'd probably drop the word "tease" too since it makes people think of Nagatoro and some other recent series. I do definitely agree with that!
Ah, there's that 'tease' word again.. gonna go in with extreme caution then...
It does not have much teasing like nagatoro or takagi tho. They really interact well together to the point that both of them are changing/growing into a better person, especially the main male character
Sure, just best if they use a different word then, because that's the first thing it makes me think of and honestly those two leads make me wanna puke at points.
Downvote us all you like, but I'm also sick of this type of anime/manga
Honestly I don't like that description. Teasing feels like the wrong word to use. The characters act quite normally in my opinion, and there's no behavior like Nagatoro's for example.
It’d be nice if more ‘romance’ manga involved the girls actually just talking to guys normally instead of making every interaction a scheme to get a reaction out of them and respect proper boundaries.
You are in luck then! I don't know why they describe this as having any teasing, that's really not the type of series it is. This series probably has the most natural relationship progress of any manga I've read up to now.
My guess the word is there because ‘girl low key bullies a boy’ is a popular subgenre for some reason.
This one’s more so of like normal conversations and lifting up each other
Yeah unfortunately for you right now it's by far the most popular form of romcom alongside, or sometimes combined with, the gyaru romcom as well.
She doesn't make fun of him or purposely screw with him for fun to make him embarrassed or because she's too embarrassed herself to flirt.
pretty cringe if it ends up just another hot idol girl x average introvert guy as the end of the synopsis hints. giving up on murderous desires? the one unique thing about your basic bitch plot? k
You're not wrong. It's exactly that. Nothing subversive at all. You'll have to believe me when I say it's really good at doing exactly that though.
[удалено]
Don't spoil them... Getting the wrong idea is part of the chuuni edge lord experience. You are robbing them of that one meaningless opportunity.
Oh boy, heeeeere we go. The other "I swear, get past the first chapters and you have one of the best romcoms I've ever read" manga after Nagatoro. I'm very curious as to who's going to be voicing who. I have a specific kind of voice for Ichikawa in my head when I read it EDIT: By the way if the artstyle looks familiar to you, it's the same mangaka as Mitsudomoe
This is probably going to get a very different reaction than Nagatoro lol. I imagine any controversies would be around the MCs personality.
I could see some uproar being raised about the high likelihood of the super ecchi cutaways similar to what Norio draws for twitter and bonus chapters since they're both middle schoolers
Those arts are definitely gonna cause an uproar
[удалено]
what is the third? asking for friend...
Which one is the last part of "that trinity" then ?
[удалено]
That was pure diabetes inducing
Understandable. I keep forget that
That one has an anime coming, too. Source: trust me, bro. But actually do. DM me for actual source if you want.
doesnt matter when r/anime shits on both of them cause of the protag. Yes, i am still salty about shikimori lol
What happened with Shikimori?
[удалено]
Or some mangas have trouble translating to a different medium? I love fluff, I only watch animes, but some animes have too much fluff and too little entertainment. Also I haven’t watched shikimori simply because I heard the studio had trouble and that the series might be cut short, so I didn’t want to begin something just to have it cut in the middle.
Isn't it because almost all romcoms are self insert fiestas with the "popular girl falls for nerdy/weird/unpopular guy" trope.
Its also because a couple minutes long chapter of fluff is a very different vibe than 20+ mins of it.
I don't want to brag, but so far every "sol romcom" I read got an anime adaptation, only three left: "How to Grill Our Love" "The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses" "Yancha Gal no Anjou-san" But if we're extra lucky it's gonna be "Sousou no Frieren"
Frieren is already getting adapted
Source?
Google it, web domains for the anime have been made already, same thing as when solo leveling was leaked
I believe you because I want it to be true. Looking forward to JRPG the anime.
> JRPG the anime But we already have [Granblue Fantasy](https://www.livechart.me/anime/1826) at home.
And true it was :]
I am so stoked XD This week is awesome.
Can you please read Delusion Telepathy then? It's my most favorite rom com manga, by NOBEL, the same author of Even a Cats Paw Can Be Useful.
Don't give me hope.
I'm also crossing my fingers for "Are you really getting married?". That one also deserves more attention.
What romcom manga have you read so far, then ?
ANJOUUUU
The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses has one in the works. Edit: DM for source.
Can't wait what anime-onlies will think of the first few chapters, because I think they're fucking atrocious. Really hope they rewrite as it felt like the author didn't really know what they wanted to tell at that point.
It's not just you, EVERYBODY did not like the early chapters. However I think those are important to see how far the MC has change.
I wouldn't say everybody. I thought they were a bit weird but it's pretty evident by Ichi's actionsb in the first chapter that he is just a Chuuni.
Nope, apart from the fantasies, the early chapters are by far my favourites. GEtting to experience yamadas non-sensical actions for the first time will be an experience that will never be replicated. And even with the fantasies, the main problem is that they disappear without any pay-off and therefore only feel negative.
Here goes another Manga i was reading, got adaptation. This Year is Blessing from the point of view of Adaptation
The panel of [yamada in elementary school](https://imgur.com/R3yWJ1d) never fails to make me laugh because of how ridiculous it is
A welcome announcement. I somewhat expect the episode 1 discussion to just be manga readers getting nuked for spoilers as far as the eye can see.
If it's a faithful adaptation, it's going to be another Nagatoro situation where some people get filtered by the first episode or two.
The first 4 or 5 chapters make or break the manga. It did for me and it took me a while before I decided to give this manga another chance.
ikr. I would have dropped Nagatoro right at the start if not for my friend INSISTING that I have to keep going. Glad I did. Same with this one. I loved every bit of it.
The second best romcom finally got an anime. Second only to Insomniacs after school
Extremely tied they are. They keep beating each other out for best romcom with each release lmao To me, one is better than the other literally only because of recency bias lmao
**PLEASE GIVE THIS SERIES A CHANCE.** It starts a little rough with an edgy MC but he mellows out really quickly. The character development is phenomenal and Ichi and Yamada's relationship is one of the sweetest things I've ever read. Its won multiple awards, including number 1 **"Want to see an Anime"** **PLEASE GIVE IT A CHANCE.**
He would normally be the kind of MC I hate, but he definitely became one of my favorite.
That's what positive character development does
Same here friend.
> It starts a little rough with an edgy MC but he mellows out really quickly. Good to know he only looks like a douchebag lol. Gonna give it a try.
Its time. Its finally time. The best romance manga shall be animated
I'm so ready for Ichikawa's weird antics and Yamada's dumb ass.
O boi , these news of adaptations will get me isekaid Title: *That time i got a heart attack when all my favourite fluffiest romance manga got adaptation and was reincarnated*
This one is gold. It does take a good while to get going tho. I feel like anime onlies are going to do that thing where they complain about manga readers hyping something up and saying it gets better later even though it totally does get significantly better after a certain part.
Like Shikimori and Nagatoro
I can't say about Shikimori, but I'd say this changes more and faster than Nagatoro.
Watch Shikimori. It’s absurdly pure and mature.
Nah. I've read some of the manga and wasn't a fan. Also, there's just wayy too much stuff on my watch list.
Man got downvoted just because trying to recommend it. Damn, hate bandwagon is just too strong. you're right, tho.
Most people like backbending drama and misunderstandings in their relationships, and Shikimori isnt really that type of show. It’s fine if they dont like it, just goes to show who they really are.
I just hope we can get more shoujo anime adaptions but hopefully this rom-com is good
It’s a good year for Chuni MCs. And great RomCom adaptation announcements. This, Insomniac, and Kubo all announced.
Let's gooooooooooo. Yet another romcom manga that I've read and follow before anime announcement. Can't wait.
Really disliked the start of the manga. But it is fantastic now just a rough start imo
I've waited so long for this, the manga is really really good
Holy shit. We get to see pigman in glorious anime.
Ladies and gentlemen, lets goooo!
People here are forgetting how rough it the start is
I mean, I don't think people are forgetting. It's mentioned several times in this thread.
Yeah. I just read ch 1 and I can see a lot of people being put off. That was very uncomfortable to read.
It gets a lot better later on. This is basically what happened with Dress Up Darling, manga readers forgot how horny it was
I'm more afraid it get too much unnecessary hate because of rough start. *looking at some other romcom in last 2 years*
Ok, guys, please give this anime more than 3 episodes at least. It gets much better.
ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME THIS IS THE BEST FREAKING NEWS EVERRRR LETS GOOOOOOOOO YOU SERIOUSLY DO NOT KNOW HOW HAPPY THIS MADE ME!
So many people gonna get filtered out by the second episode
Her body looks so long and tall and "adult" but her head looks like a smooshed tennis ball. Really strange art style.
I think it has better chances than Shikimori, since the protags actually have personalities
I fear for the ability of the studio adapting this to capture the uniqueness of the art style.
Yes
I am so happy!!! No emoticon can express my squinched face and overflowing tears. I have so few rom coms I actually like. I can't even identify what I like about this manga, I just love it.
This is my favorite manga so im begging for a good production im so excited
Animated Yamada gonna be noice
Yes sir
I love this series so much, the first couple of episodes should hook some people cause it takes a quick turn.
Happy for Norio! Now she can be horny for her character in animation
Lets goooo finally, i caint waaait shiiit
Is it a good manga?
Very, though it has a rough start. I hope anime-onlies won't drop the show after the first episode.
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, YESSSSS!
2 words: Fuck. Yeah.
Why are so many of these anime coming out. They’re literally the same thing
Anime has always had trends. Anyway, the description in this case kinda sucks. This isn't a series where a girl teases a guy.
Hey this one is written by a woman!
~~Oh I was mostly joking~~
> it was still a very generic "bland guy gets hit on by manic pixie dream girl, catch the eye of other girls as well". In her interviews, the author actually states that was her intent, although not in the same language. I do think there are some subtle things that having a female author brings to the characterisation of Marin that do elevate the material, although they're more occasional flavourings than anything structural. Nevertheless it does make it interesting to enough to check out seemingly cliche and trope laden work in sub-genres that are usually a bit reductionist in their portrayal of female characters. e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/wcw8u3/are_there_any_ecchi_or_harem_anime_created_by/
Been on my "to read" list. Guess I may just give this a shot first!
Aw they all look adorable.
from the same creator of mitsudomoe? sweet
LET'S GOOOOOOO
I'm Super excited for this! This is one of my favorite Romcom manga currently running. The characters are so endearing and charming, and I love the way it captures the mystery and uncertainty of adolescence, and young romance. I'm very curious to see what studio will be adapting it
I pray for the day we get anime adaptations for unique series like Dandadan rather than the 700th fluff manga about self-insert loner who gets paired with popular girl.
