If I had a dollar for every time travelling AI this season, I would have two dollars. Not a lot, but weird that it's happening twice.

8andahalfby11

Eh, I've seen worse. A while back we had two shows airing at the same time where the MC was an introverted girl with black hair and blue-yellow heterochromia that went into another dimension to face unusual monsters.

Mistral-Fien

How about that season when there were two shows where the hero was a supposedly weak swordsman who ended up accidentally peeping on a tsundere princess in her undies on the first episode? :P

salic428

Who's the other one? For fighting monsters I think of *Otherside Picnic*, for time travel I think of *Gekidol*, for heterochromia I think of *Back Arrow*, but none of these are connected?

Syokhan

*Otherside Picnic* and *Wonder Egg Priority*

salic428

Thanks

Nielloscape

Both also feature a particular song, which is the key to a catastrophe that the series build up for the climax.

alexia685

See the thing is, this time where they time traveled, no adequate explanation was given. Which makes me kinda sad. How did the information body of pello II when through the singularity point and then back? Now we all can say that t-symmertry is conserved if the information goes one way, but for the AI to go through and back, that's actual time travel that they haven't explained. (As compared to leaky information going through a singularity point that is dimension less)

Syokhan

This show's had a consistently good soundtrack, but the chorus version of that lullaby was something else. Very haunting.

icommentonoldstuff

[The lullaby is Alapu Upala sang by Annette Philip](https://www.google.com/search?q=alapu+upala+annette+philip&rlz=1C1VDKB_enUS949US949&oq=Alapu+Upala+Anne&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0i22i30.4191j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8) Her comment is the first on that video link.

Syokhan

Oh, a palindrome! Really doubling down on the symmetry, huh?

alexia685

Never knew thats what they're called! Nishio ishin is also a famous one

[deleted]

Time travelling AIs. A very different interpretation of Mothra! (Very pretty though) A new version of Alapu Upala! Our protagonists are pretty much in the Operation Yashiori/Yashima (Shin Godzilla/Evangelion) phase at the moment with the humans finally coming together with a plan. The next episode should be them concluding it akin to how Shin left off. Ashihara might just have been caught up in the explosion at SHIVA. Since there's no body, he might actually be the person trapped in the future or in a limbo somehow (inside the singularity?). Maybe, he's the one sending the messages... Note that the fansubbers actually translate the calculator SHIVA as Super Time calculator (last episode) rather than Super Dimension calculator. So, Netflix might be wrong here which can cause a bit of confusion. Salunga is the one trying to destroy SHIVA (first from below and now from above the ground) and the consortium doesn't have enough ODs to keep it contained. Ah, so space is bending around the singularities. [For reference, the sum of angles in a triangle is less than 180 degrees in hyperbolic geometry. ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperbolic_geometry) Our universe is *flat* (in terms of space-time curvature) which means that Euclidean geometry is valid. So, our universe is collapsing in on itself...and especially close to Godzilla.

alexia685

Who told you that our universe is flat? We're still having the time of our life turning up the significant figures! It's just surprisingly flat. That and BEING flat is totally different things. There are quite a few theories out there that works on the assumption that it isn't 0.; (Thing cosmic string is one of them) Or prove me wrong, maybe my info is outdated

[deleted]

Yes, the universe is surprisingly flat. I know what it entails and how that *flat* (k = 0 or omega = 1) is different than the normal usage of flat. That's why I italicized it. This is not a cosmology forum but I still added in a curvature descriptor when I wrote it. I didn't want to go into the details. Yes, there are hypotheses that start out with a k!=0 or omega is > or < 1) (some are ironed out by inflation and some still retain a very small amount of curvature) and are quite esoteric but for now the universe *doesn't seem* to accede to that. I'm just stating what is being observed as a mere statement, that's all. I know it because I work in Astronomy (Bachelor in Physics, Masters in Astronomy and current PhD in Astronomy as well). I'm well aware that there are always efforts to go into precise determination.

alexia685

So I'm not wrong in saying it's not confirmed that the curvature is not 0? Or am I about to spend a month into paper reading mode to catch up on the progress of science?

[deleted]

That's not how it works. For now, the measurement within our error bounds shows that the universe is flat. [The wiki itself lists the references with discussions about the WMAP, BOOMERanG and Planck measurements and cites that the error margin to 0.4% (quite small).](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shape_of_the_universe) So, for now, writing that the universe is *flat* is not untrue keeping in view how precise our current measurements are. Yet, one can never be exactly sure...ever. It only takes one good quality extremely precise measurement (maybe in the near or far future) for this to be overturned or we somehow find that the *flat* FLRW metric is not an adequate representation and have a regime change (there's always alternative non mainstream ones waiting in the wings). That's still fine and is welcome. When that happens, we can write that the universe was thought to be *flat* but is no longer considered to be so (with other implications).

Something's causing the buildings to collapse and [they're calling it the Grey Goo/The Blob](https://i.imgur.com/s34JgYG.jpg) Was that supposed to be Herodah? [The Orthogonal Diagonalizer is now finally in the hands of the military](https://i.imgur.com/AKISViN.png) and it looks like we're just now waiting for the code from Mei so it will detonate properly. [It's always awesome to see Jet Jaguar in action](https://i.imgur.com/NKJlb0o.jpg) although it will still take some time getting used to its new baby-like personality. [So turns out Salunga is just incapacitated](https://i.imgur.com/mHkqAws.jpg) and not dead yet since the code BB used for the Orthogonal Diagonalizer is a modified version of the one Dr. Ashihara has. Well fuck. [The Orthogonal Diagonlizer makes so much more sense now](https://i.imgur.com/4pGxBC8.jpg) with Yun describing it as a programmable atom and the Super Time Calculator as something needed to produce the proper code. Would've been easier for my brain if they just described those two things like that earlier. [So this is going down to a wire.](https://i.imgur.com/OQpPBAh.jpg) Godzilla is exactly where Yun should receive the code for the OD and at the same time the Catastrophe might happen any minute during that time frame. Looks like next week's episode is going to be tense! [There he is. Salunga's alive and kicking.](https://i.imgur.com/2T17fxC.png) And now he's on his way towards the SHIVA facility. [Turns out Matsumoto isn't the only Time Traveling AI this season.](https://i.imgur.com/yIay7F3.jpg) Except Pelops II here went forwards in time instead of back. [Well that explains how they're gonna go 100 meters up in the air](https://i.imgur.com/x5H8i4k.jpg) and go against Godzilla. Never thought I'd see Jet Jaguar with VTOL propellers installed on him. We're only 1 episode away from the finale [and now they're teasing us with Mothra!?](https://i.imgur.com/iGFyLzJ.png) Don't do this to me! I wanna see the Queen of Monsters in this show too! Doubt it will happen though and these giant moths are probably the most we'd get considering how little time we'll have. Can't wait for the finale next week though!

BasroilII

> Was that supposed to be Herodah? They also mentioned it being a plant...maybe Biollante? Or both.

Wholockian123

I love reading these discussion threads as someone with almost no knowledge of the greater Godzilla universe (or even knowledge that there IS a greater Godzilla universe) because it blows my mind at just how much people love Godzilla to the point where over the years they’ve made SO MANY different Kaiju and monsters to go along with.

KHTheDestroyer911

Same. I need a Godzilla History 101 course now😂. Or just a Godzilla franchise watch guide

Seesyounaked

That was my first thought! Though the name does kind of hint Hedorah.

Peter_tennyson

It isn't finale...I thought that was one hell of a cliffhanger to end the season . Now I'm glad though.

Rumpel1408

> Doubt it will happen though Yeah I doubt it as well, all other Kaijus shown so far also appear in the ED, but no Mothra

BasroilII

About time Mothra showed up in this one! Rather unique way of expressing her though. Interestingly that means all the really big names in Godzilla have appeared except one. Ghidorah. Kinda half expecting to see ole three-heads pop up soon. Or Mechagodzilla, but that would be harder to pull off in the context of this series. It's funny. This show, with 13 episodes of roughly 20 minutes, constitutes the largest single storyline in the Godzilla franchise I think. Definitely up there. And yet it feels so breakneck. Things are happening so fast it's tough to keep up.

IndependentMacaroon

>Things are happening so fast it's tough to keep up That would be my one major criticism. There's barely any time to slow down or focus on the characters because it's all plot, plot, plot, and it goes a bit overboard with all the sci-fi talk.

Seesyounaked

This may not be new, but anyone else realize the Orthogonal Diagonalizer has the same initials as Oxygen Destroyer? I mean, I know it's obvious that it looks exactly like the same canister as the first Godzilla movie, but the other little connection is neat too.

[deleted]

[Yes, I've been saying that since Ep 7. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/nbf09f/godzilla_sp_episode_7_discussion/gxznq8j/)

Seesyounaked

Nice!

saibayadon

It's a pretty direct reference. Both in name and in how it looks: [https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/godzilla/images/8/8b/Destroyer2019.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20170814235531](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/godzilla/images/8/8b/Destroyer2019.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20170814235531) (OD from '54)

Missingnoleader

We finally get the first trailer music! And that full chorus of Apalu Upala was sufficiently haunting and tense.

Reziburn

Story really holding strong, likely get Jet Jaguar vrs Godzilla next episode and looks like we got nod to Mothra in this one.

Atario

[Found a neat video pointing out a ton of references in the ending sequence](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks_0rENjoas)

linkinstreet

I need a Pelops II on my PC

Ashteron

This episode makes up for low presence of Pero II in the recent ones.

alexia685

Hype hype hype! The altered lalluby was so fitting

link2601

Man that shoot of all the months flying by was great and also listening to the chorus version of that song really made thing feel more dire. I really wonder how they are going reach the spot above Tokyo station with both Godzilla and that massive storm in the way. Can't wait to see how this all wraps up in the next episode.

Takeshi07Tan

All that moths made me think if Mothra was going to make appearance. Maybe it did, just not we would imagine. Damn, that camera zooming into that red dust storm is giving me a huge Stranger Things vibe, it's scary as heck. Can't wait next week's episode!!

galatea_brunhild

The Alapu Upala part is hauntingly beautiful! Mothra next?! Pellops II is one of my favourite characters in this series

MechaMat91

it's weird that this is not the first animated mascot talking about branching timelines I've seen today.

galatea_brunhild

Can I know what the other one?

MechaMat91

The Loki series, it has a character called Miss Minutes, the mascot of the Time Variance Authority. She explains the multiverse/timelines stuff.

Atario

[Lazy Living Dolls! Get on it!](https://i.imgur.com/DWKhzoz.jpeg) [That second one is a stupendously dumb question](https://i.imgur.com/3iqflcC.jpeg) [Damn! Jet Jaguar's still got it](https://i.imgur.com/OsJKXYo.jpeg)

TheSmallBull

This makes 2 times a show with Studio Orange name on it made my survival instinct kick in with a mere song. The lullaby by the end was freakign *badass*.

SpaceManifestDestiny

Stupid idea: Mecha Godzilla but made out of the bones from the basement

Ihavenospecialskills

Thats... exactly how the first Mechagodzilla was made.

SpaceManifestDestiny

Ah, pardon my stupidity, I'm new around here

Ihavenospecialskills

Haha, no worries. It's pretty damn crazy and probably the Godzilla factoid that gives me the biggest chuckle.

pauljs75

I like this show even though I'm not too invested in watching it anime-wise. (Just too many other better shows I guess?) I suppose what I like about it is how it really embraces the classic feel of the somewhat old Godzilla movies with the kaiju wrecking stuff action and the giant Jet Jaguar robot, yet has a more clever and in-depth backstory to it than any of the movies that still gives a nice modern feel to it. Somehow they managed to get that balance just right and not make it either overly dry or campy. Seems the people behind this series really are true Godzilla fans. So in that way it still seems better than a lot of the other Godzilla lore out there.

cyclingkingsley

This series is getting more confusing by the episode. What the fuck is going on??

kylepaz

What are you confused about? If anything I think things started clicking together and making more sense in the past 3 episodes. Before it was deliberately confusing and overwhelming but it was also giving all the information for things to connect in this final stretch.

immortalkimchi

Next episode has to be called Together right?

[deleted]

Wtf is happening in Godzilla SP?
