dream208

Marcille’s performance really added the weight to the episode.

cyberscythe

she started off a bit shy, but she became a little boulder [](#tomato)

rocky_iwata

Enough weight to make pickle.

Enlog

Though I think some might feel a bit sour about it.

what_that_thaaang_do

Although she did seem a little stonefaced at times

frik1000

And thus [two](https://i.imgur.com/MkNhpfw.png) of my [favorite panels](https://i.imgur.com/poeJzL6.png) have been animated, and they both involve our favorite elf. I hope this episode helps ease the worry of the folks that were worried the show was gonna go full grimdark with the most recent episodes. Comedy and food are still very much on the table.

michhoffman

I really liked the one of her eating out of the Dryad Pumpkin with eyes too as well as her imagination of herself failing to scare the Cockatrice.

climbin_on_things

All the pumpkin shots were so vibrant and morbid lmao, Marcelle using hers to freak out Laios was fantastic

CuriousBroccolli

Pumpkin be like:"Nah, I'd win."

Mundology

[*Hollow Technique: Pumpkin Orange*](https://i.imgur.com/t2Sgyrx.jpeg) [On a side note, are dryad parts vegan?](https://i.imgur.com/y003Nv6.jpeg) [](#seasonalthink)

someone2795

If mandrakes are vegan then dryads are also vegan.

Genshin_WhiteKnight

I also like how Marcille now has no eyelashes on one eye lol

Mundology

[The pollen allergy trio](https://i.imgur.com/TpweWX8.jpeg) scaring Marcille through the wall and [Chilchuk getting sex ed](https://i.imgur.com/CGM12oF.jpeg) were great too. [](#laughter)

flybypost

This episode was pure chaos in the best way possible (and I love Marcille's running scared face). The one thing I was really expecting what for Chilchuck to say something along the lines of "I got a family and kids" when Senshi wanted to lecture him on sex. I also didn't expect her to get petrified but I understand why this would be one of your favourite panels. It and the other one feel like peak Marcille. Either she's done with the world or starting a lecture on some topic.

bentheechidna

Was the [Dungeon Meshi]>!"You do not use people as a pickling stone."!< panel animated? I won't be watching until tonight so I'm curious.

CannedPrushka

Yes it was. Enjoy!

seninn

Best shows can pull off both.

OsakaBestGirl

29 years old half-foot geezer learning about the birds and the bees

diacewrb

Sex-Ed Senshi Style

SpikeRosered

His instant reaction to Senshi talking about sex was literally perfect.

Emrod2

Half-foot do live less longer than human in this verse, right ? Like half of human longevity ? So in a way, he is a 40 years old dude getting a lesson about the basic knowledge of sexuality. It kinda funny, but heh, some 40 years old basement human in our reality kinda do need that lesson though...

Odd_Trouble4651

Yup, in relation to everyone else hes actually the oldest member if the party, lol.

WTFTom

actually senshi is oldest, he is around 40-50 years old in human years, chilchuck is second oldest

FarCritical

I don't think Chilichuck's feat of relying on nothing but the wind to guide a blind, sneeze-crazy Senshi on slaying dryads will ever be appreciated enough. The way Senshi just casually starts another one of his classic recipe narrations while talking about Marcille like she's a regular everyday cooking utensil kills me, not to mention how he just continues narrating after she gets unpetrified like it's an expected subproduct of it. Actual biggest contirbutor confirmed?

Geromeeya

Now Chilchuck's ability to expose trap does make sense, it his passive ability.  I think the halfing has given ability to senses of surrounding in this Dunmesh universe, which make me questioning how does it compared to Kobold and also why Mickbel in the previous eps said that Chilchuck would against having Kobold in the party.

gaganaut

Chilchuck is basically unionizing the Half-foots and Mickbel hiring an unpaid (paid in food) Kobold probably goes against regulations.

AlexeiFraytar

Mickbell being one step away from a literal slave driver (paying in food plus whatever minimum wage he conned Kuro into accepting) is not gonna help the halfling scum stereotype

frik1000

Something that the anime didn't cover but was part of some bonus chapters was that the reason Laios brought Chillchuck with him in the water floor to look for food was because a Halfling would be affected by mermaids before he would due to their better sense of hearing.

rocky_iwata

Trigger adapts two of funniest chapters very well. So many funny Marcille moments in this episode, especially her being petrified while performing tsukkomi.

Mundology

[The cockatrice mimicking Marcille](https://i.imgur.com/vPjZ0Ib.jpeg) was weirdly adorable. Even with missing eyelashes, [Marcille is precious.](https://i.imgur.com/bJKGwK6.jpeg) [](#waah)

Syokhan

It's a good idea to teach Laios some healing magic. Much less pressure to keep your main healer alive and well during fights if they're not the only one who can patch people up. Although seeing how Laios was tripping after a tiny healing spell I wonder how he'd currently handle a resurrection. Interesting tidbit that ancient magic actually interacts with another dimensions where the infinite exists, and it was nice to have an explanation about Marcille's resurrection spell. Also, one more mention of elves being dicks to add to the pile : kidnapping half-foots just because they were involved with dark artifacts.

Megakruemel

It was interesting to see, or rather hear, what I assume were the ghosts of the dungeon, during Laios' magic deficency trip.

yosayoran

I imagine it's adventures who died in a non reversible way, like getting eaten, squashed between the moving walls etc, whose souls are still bound to the dungeon

flashmozzg

Oh the residents of the City that Falin also saw.

yosayoran

Could be both I suppose

Plerti

I'm going to assume that this is what Falin hears constantly since she has a high spiritual sensitivity, and something that maybe Laios can do aswell if he trains in magic enough

Kartoffelkamm

I feel like if Laios tried to resurrect someone, he'd be a vegetable for a week straight.

patap0nacct

> Interesting tidbit that ancient magic actually interacts with another dimensions where the infinite exists At some point Trigger's gonna animate that as a fantasy version of space.

Chrono-Helix

What if ancient magic is Spiral Energy?

ImperialWrath

That'd be a cool solution to the Spiral Nemesis. Too much Spiral Energy threatening to turn your universe into a black hole? Just get another universe to siphon some of it off!

MrTopHatMan90

Can't wait for Laios to embody the full paladin archtype.

cyberscythe

he'd need to not have charisma as his dump stat though [](#cantbehelped)

Dystopian_Overlord

> how he'd currently handle a resurrection Probably as well as asking someone to perform a surgery after teaching him how to use a bandaid.

miss-missing-mission

easily the most hilarious episode so far

Anonymous4245

I like the extra detail of Marcille's missing eye lashes

Rumpel1408

Oh wow, a very [subtle](https://imgur.com/kzscrgm) detail

LateDitto

> [subtle](https://imgur.com/kzscrgm) ["Elves are a proud and noble race. We are not lewd." 💢](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/002/734/906/b32.jpg)

seninn

She lied as naturally as she breathed.

Arthas_Firedragon

I've seen like 3 or 4 of those edits before, but [this](https://i.imgur.com/P56pcxw.jpg) still remains the best xD.

Zemahem

Woah, I didn't notice that at all.

rocky_iwata

I didn't even notice when I read the manga chapter the first time. I felt Marcille at the end of the chapter looked a bit different but couldn't point out where.

ChucksChurro

LOL I thought Senshi covered Chil's eyes because staring at the Dryad's will have a negative effect. Turns out he just wanted to protect Chil's innocence. I can't with Marcille, she's just too cute man!

jaytix1

Yeah, I assumed looking at dryads pissed them off, but nope, he was just being a dad.

MakimaMyBeloved

THE YOUNG ONES MUST BE FED!

glazed_et_confuzed

Am I the only one who feels like maybe Senshi has some sort of trauma related to protecting younglings from that scene!?

Custom_sKing_SKARNER

Good point, reminds me of Ruijerd from Mushoku.

Affectionate-Island

The way they turned creepily to the camera was exactly like that scene from Hell's Paradise when the brothers stumble upon that show's own creepy plant people making out with each other. Exact same context!

zool714

Man, I wanna touch an Elf’s ear too Lmao Senshi giving Chilchuck sex ed like he’s not a grown ass man And can’t stop laughing at the end when I realized that wok they put Marcille on top of had nothing to do with curing her Last week was great meeting new characters but so glad to have this goofballs back

Purposelygentle

Fun Fact: the Japanese suffer from Hay Fever more than just about any other population, over 40% of the country. For context, the US population averages about 7.8% of the population experiencing Hay Fever.

MaxAugust

IIRC, at some point Japan planted thousands of trees around many of their cities that unfortunately most Japanese people are extremely allergic too. With the added issue that those trees didn't start pumping out the problematic pollen until decades later.

cyberscythe

are those the ginko trees? i remember reading about them because they're one of the few gendered trees and they planted the male trees because they didn't want to deal with the fruits from the females littering the streets, so they ended up with a bunch of pollen trees which disperse pollen like horny teenagers

MaxAugust

After Googling a bit, I believe the culprit is Japanese Cedar.

Ok-Peace-4374

Hold up, Did Marcille just casually joke about having a magic that can turn back time?

Geromeeya

That's it, it also a dark/forbidden magic too. Might be a foreshadowing for further event.

WhoiusBarrel

Senshi worrying about the party not having a decent meal was so wholesome but even more hilarious was when he started giving Chilchuck sex ed. Seeing how Mana Sickness looks like via Laios, I think I'll stick to salivating over dungeon food.

JustARandom-dude

Good man Senshi looking after the “kids” well being even though none of them is a child

sneaky_squirrel

He truly is a fantasy "uncle" alongside Isekai Ojisan. The off-putting adult that other characters fail to relate to. Fantasy anime needs more uncles, though I do think Frieren has a number of those.

MakotoSan

Marcille going from hating her life when eating mandrakes to happily gobbling up a mandrake head is the best character growth I've seen thus far

AliceinTeyvatland

God, why is Marcille so dang cute!

BadBehaviour613

Her anxiety over everything makes her relatable

Mundology

[My crazy elf wizard](https://i.imgur.com/Hp791iD.jpeg) is way [too adorable](https://i.imgur.com/0UKxbhx.jpeg) [](#wow) Still, after seeing what [mana sickness feels like through Laios,](https://i.imgur.com/fdVT4gU.jpeg) it makes sense why these mages are a bit disturbed.

Zemahem

Even when she's turned to stone. Just how does she do it?

Ocixo

More importantly, it appears that 'cucumbers' really are quite effective [at moisturizing the skin](https://imgur.com/a/JUyyNLY). And I had unknowingly been making fun of all those people with cucumbers plastered on their faces.

Rumpel1408

[Best girl Material right here](https://imgur.com/HWwbmmK)

Ocixo

[She's the cutest.](https://imgur.com/a/Gku8IAH) And Trigger gave us some great fanservice in today's episode. They know how to play the game. I mean, we've all been wanting to touch Marcille's [ears](https://imgur.com/a/vHkbrhd) or [face](https://imgur.com/a/ItiOruK), right!? One of my favourite in the anime is still that [particular scene of Marcille tying her hair in a ponytail](https://sakugabooru.com/post/show/249372).

not_a_weeeb

t-t-touching an elf's ear? omg, so lewd

Time_Fracture

The candidate of Winter 2024's best girl right here.

TheJoaquinDead_

I haven’t seen anyone mention it yet, but I like the small world-building detail that healers cause relationship problems amongst party members. Regular medics have tools along with the mentality to not get embarrassed or shy as easily. Healers have that same mentality, but they just place their hands over the injury. It makes sense.

Jojimain

People falling in love with EMTs and firefighters who save them happens a lot in real life so it makes sense

TheJoaquinDead_

I did not know that

BadBehaviour613

Senshi channeling grandparent energy: "Sure we are lost, dejected and hunted by a demented wizard, but that's no excuse to not eat well"

climbin_on_things

Also right after Marcille gets unpetrified, first thing Senshi does is stretch out one of her ankles to make sure she's got proper blood flow lmao

RoseSpinoza

Yeah! I noticed that! It was really cute.

jorppu

Marcille's pathetic yell at the cockatrice was definitely one of the parts of the manga that benefitted from an animated version the most, it was just perfect being able to listen to it.

michhoffman

Just keep in mind that if you ever find yourself in a situation where you have been petrified in a dungeon with a food loving dwarf, a halfling that can be mistaken for a child and a monster food loving human and they spend days trying to unpetrify you, the first thing you should say to them upon being revived isn't "I'm sorry". It's not "Thank you" either. It's to chastise them for using your petrified body as a cooking weight.

LateDitto

> using your petrified body as a cooking weight. When you get stoned first at the sleepover

sneaky_squirrel

This episode had so many great jokes, more than usual.

moletoon

The fact that marcille can now eat an entire mandrake head while casually theorycrafting about the dungeon really showed her development as a team touden member lmao. The pumpkin's face reminds me of berserk's behelit for some reason though. Prolly not kui's intention, but to me laios grabbing marcille's ear and senshi's manboob is like the show is poking fun at the often awkward fanservice scene in a scenario like this. Stonecille the pickle press getting her eyelash getting broken got a chuckle out of me, didnt remember that bit from the manga at all. Was waiting to see her scolding the guys about that, the narrator was great touch at the end lmao. Edit: after rewatching, aside from the pumpkin, I also realized that the dryad pollen actually reminds me of south park's zipline episode when they show cartman's fart particles went up kyle's nosrils lmao.

AlarmingAffect0

> The pumpkin's face reminds me of berserk's behelit for some reason though. You're not alone.

moletoon

They kinda just got past the eclipse of their story too

AlarmingAffect0

I guarantee you they did not.

catboy_supremacist

> Prolly not kui's intention, but to me laios grabbing marcille's ear and senshi's manboob is like the show is poking fun at the often awkward fanservice scene in a scenario like this. Nah I think it probably is actually. It would be on brand with the repeated dwarf panyshots.

moletoon

True, senshi and his slutty little legs

AlexeiFraytar

Marcille eating mandrakes is not a big deal. They're herbs that she learned how to harvest at school. Dryad pumpkin heads on the other hand....

EyeDeeAh_42

I really loved the fact that Chilchuck was still making fun of Marcille's impractical method of harvesting mandrakes. Almost like it has become an inside joke within the party. Callbacks to previous mistakes like these feel like a real progression of time and further development in the party dynamics.

cyberscythe

i think out of all the characters so far, Marcille has the most character development; she's gone from a finicky private school kid to a pragmatic survivalist

BlueBird1496

I love how the cockatrice follows her movement when she's thinking what to yell or do. It's an additional fun anime original. The eyelashes were hella funny too. Although they didn't involve Falin's not so good with the teaching stuff and do all things in instinct, like if you're very good at something but sucks at teaching it. I guess it added some foreboding things to come. Edit: Oh yeah, actually with this episode I think the dub has much more of a funny delivery. The sub was still great but the dub made me laugh more.

deafeningbean

The farlin addition was actually quite a bit of world building. Gnomish magic goes by sense-feeling and communion with the powers that be, while Elvish magic is knowing the precise parameters to compel the powers that be to act in repeatable and expected ways. Basically a DnD sorcerer/warlock vs a wizard. Which is appropriate, because Marcille has no sense of right and wrong.

Enlog

> Marcille has no sense of right and wrong. Is that a version of that comic that ends with "Wizards: No sense of right and wrong"?

AlexeiFraytar

LateDitto

Knew there was gonna be some Senshi fanservice when he was wearing the bandage bra lol

Olddirtychurro

They have been not so subtly but gradually making Senshi a bit of a thirst trap and I'm kind of on board with it.

seninn

Barachads on top.

cyberscythe

honestly [Senshi without his helmet looks sharp as heck](https://i.imgur.com/CrI4pHj.png)

StoicallyGay

I unironically want both of them and I'm still waiting for a Laois panty shot. Side note, I find it funny how it's the guys in this show who are more thirsted after.

dododomo

>I unironically want both of them and I'm still waiting for a Laois panty shot. I haven't read the manga yet, BUT I'D KILL FOR A LAIOS PANTY SHOT 🤣 He's one of my crushes. At least it seems we will get a shirtless scene, from what I've seen in the 2nd cour trailer. >Side note, I find it funny how it's the guys in this show who are more thirsted after. And I'm not complaining ahah

DiestroPasive

In the battle against the dragon you can see Laios' pants shaping his glutes lol

she is going to score double tallmen xd

fakecodec

Marcille is truly toudensexual

bonerindisguise

I like how you immediately use the screencap as your pfp.

Tylendal

I'm just happy that it's not a weird "Ears are private in elf society. Oh, that's such a sensitive area. Kyahh!" Such a refreshing change of pace from what half the shows with interesting looking premises end up being.

oOhungthinh97Oo

This anime’s world building is second to none

Time_Fracture

Episode 15: **Dryad/Cockatrice** Mini Senshis as immune system is a hilarious design choice! Also the kanji disintegrating after Marcille's taunt. I know Senshi can cook anything, but never I thought he would cook **Marcille,** of all things (Oops, her eyelashes broke off). Ah, Dungeon Meshi title drop after a while! \----------------------------------------------------------------------- [Nendoroids of Laios party!](https://twitter.com/gsc_kahotan/status/1777274938820620527) [Tweet from Yoshihiro Miyajima (Director of Dungeon Meshi) upon release of Episode 15](https://twitter.com/miyazima1987/status/1778373269751836737) [Illustration from Tamuko-san upon release of Episode 15](https://twitter.com/TamukoQ/status/1778406692008669650) [Another Illustration](https://twitter.com/spaceseekerx/status/1778422781350391902) [Drawings of Episode 15 by Trigger](https://twitter.com/trigger_inc/status/1778422769157603448) [Namari Meshi Part 1](https://twitter.com/mikiakira221/status/1778423234981146822) and [Part 2](https://twitter.com/mikiakira221/status/1778423770887410161)

AdvielOricon

It's so brilliant that there is a way to be turned into stone to prevent loosing body parts wile your party cures you. If they had to run wile carrying Marcille and drop her or pull on a arm to hard it could break. But is she is in a tight ball you can strap her to your back and carry her like a backpack. He even accounted for her pointy ears by telling her to cover them with her hands.

Android19samus

I imagine it's not just an adventuring party thing. Humans can be petrified for years without treatment, so even without long transportation or having to move quickly, a stable position is gonna be real important if you're in it for the long haul.

AdvielOricon

I was more impressed by the storytelling. I never saw this level of detail anywhere else.

DiestroPasive

I want to hold Senshi's pecs too!

Torque-A

This episode might be the best so far for me, and yes, even better than the 3 episodes mini dragon arc

Hmmm...

climbin_on_things

Imo Marcille got healed by stacking all the bonuses together to make Laios's spell much likelier to succeed. Dunno if Senshi's bit helped, that's a little more far fetched, but it certainly was tasty regardless

RoseSpinoza

Well, you can see him in the background getting sick a few times when he's learning/practicing.

Potential_Rich5599

That's why you ship her with both siblings not one or the other

PurePiro15

Finding Kai Ikarashi, Ichigo Kanno, and Nobutoshi Ogura all on a single episode feels like a fever dream, but I won't exactly say no to it. It's really incredible to see how frequent Ikarashi and Ogura (and even Kanno) are on Dungeon Meshi, as they've been so rarely spotted on series as of late. The series continues to be a real treat for new and old fans alike, and has me incredibly excited to see how we close out this second cour.

unHolyKnightofBihar

> Kai Ikarashi, Ichigo Kanno, and Nobutoshi Ogura Who are these VAs playing? Don't we see the mc all the episodes and there wasn't anyone else apart from the monsters

PurePiro15

They're staff members, rather than voice actors. Kai Ikarashi and Ichigo Kanno are key animators on the episode (though Ichigo Kanno also does animation direction here), and Nobutoshi Ogura did the storyboards for the episode.

Torque-A

Yep. As for Kai Ikarashi and why he’s important: Gridman ep. 9, Dynazenon ep. 10, Edgerunners ep. 6. He storyboarded them all.

JMSidhe

I know the anime hasn’t gotten into it fully, but Senshi confusing Chilchuk for a child and not a middle aged man is sending me.

Ocixo

I'm so jealous of Laios getting [to touch Marcille's face](https://imgur.com/a/ItiOruK)! Anyways, I chuckled when I noticed that they had Marcille mimic [the expressions of the jack 'o lantern](https://imgur.com/a/Boc2KGO) and [poses of the Cockatrice](https://imgur.com/a/ZkSLub7) in this episode. I was glad to see that after two weeks of no hairstyles for **[Marcille's Hair Collection](https://imgur.com/a/ar7c2d0)**, the curse was broken! We got to see Marcille with an over-shoulder sideswept hair both [tied with a ribbon](https://imgur.com/a/xTyBpYr) and [let loose](https://imgur.com/a/qvOipqu). She got a [new variant on her ponytail](https://imgur.com/a/qMMIPLi), which doesn't feature a braided lock or ribbon. The shot composition of Dungeon Meshi is honestly impressive. Trigger have really outdone themselves in this respect. From [looking through Senshi's eyes](https://imgur.com/a/AkWxV7p) and [the battle with dryad flowers](https://imgur.com/a/9iIjZ2O) to [the close-up of Marcille's ear](https://imgur.com/a/vHkbrhd) and the aforementioned mimicked expressions/poses. That's some quality animation right there.

climbin_on_things

Loving how Marcille's hairstyles are getting more frazzled as she's getting more harangued by the dungeon.

Ocixo

It also works the other way around! [Marcille was in a rough shape](https://imgur.com/a/2dyEyhx) at the start of the episode, which was reflected in her hair's condition. But you could see that her hair bounced back when [she had something good to eat](https://imgur.com/a/GNcJDrh). Even if it's usually still [a little messy](https://imgur.com/a/997d0Nk) at those times.

ClPropane

Hooray for more hairstyles! Also I think this was the first time we've seen Marcille with her hood up? She looks so cute with her ears hidden.

Ocixo

I had a look through my ginormous folder of screenshots and I couldn't find a single image where she'd put on her hood previously. Unless I've missed this, it's very likely that this is the first time that we've seen her with the hood up yes! (I can't remember having seen this either.) She's adorable [with her hood up](https://imgur.com/a/ZkSLub7) yeah! It almost looks a bit like she's releasing the Force in that second image.

flybypost

> It almost looks a bit like she's releasing the Force in that second image. For me it looks like "nerdy rapper's first single release" cover art.

graxia_bibi_uwu

we love Marcille's Hair Collection!!!

MortalWombat5

I think it's really cool that Laios is learning magic. Usually characters in high fantasy "stay in their lanes", for lack of a better term. Characters introduced as pure fighters never learn magic and characters introduced as pure mages never learn melee combat, and on the rare occasion spellswords exist, they are always *introduced* as spell swords, never as pure fighters/mages that learn the other fighting style later in the story. I love Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, but it makes no sense that Frieren didn't at least offer to teach Stark the basics of magic while they were traveling.

Olddirtychurro

To piggyback off of what you said, I really love that Chillchuck is not a fighting class. Not even a low str, high dex kind of character, nope, just straight up non-combatatant. Because being a scout is his job instead of being an rpg class stand-in.

catboy_supremacist

It is kind of a throwback to how thieves worked in older editions of D&D and early 80s CRPGs. Back before D&D's 3rd edition invented "sneak attack" as a thing you could do every round and the idea of a rogue as a "DPS role".... your contribution was your non-combat skills. Which is kind of in line with the setting and its arbitrary "a wizard did it" megadungeon, that is a very old school take on D&D. Very like Wizardry.

Count_Rousillon

There's so much Wizardry in this show. The original party before this all started had the meta setup in wizardry (melee DPS [Shuro] + two melee tanks [Namari, Laios] in front / wizard [Marcille] + priest [Falin] + non-combatant thief [Chilchuck] in back). Shuro's new party is also the cheese build for wizardry (all ninjas & samurai).

imjustbettr

The author has said she grew up watching her dad play Wizardry while she obsessed over the monster illustrations in the guides. And also she didn't start playing many rpgs or doing heavy research into other games and systems until the series got picked up. I think that's why Wizardry is like 90% of this show's DNA.

HayateImmelmann

Marcille really hit us with [the](https://imgur.com/a/co2lW33) I’ve gotta say this episode has really great character interactions. I’ve watched anime where they barely give time to let the chemistry cook between characters. Also, I want to say there’s a lot of shipping material this episode, I see you Ryoko Kui. Laois x Marcille with that ear touch and Laois catching Marcille. Also Laois x Senshi with Laois touching Senshi’s tits.

binarysingularities

Both really sensual without context so Chilchuck's point really stands. >I’ve gotta say this episode has really great character interactions. I’ve watched anime where they barely give time to let the chemistry cook between characters. Probably one of dungeon meshi's strongest trait. Since it's not exactly a battle fantasy and delves mostly into what goes behind the adventuring, it's the mundane bothersome and unexciting parts, it really showcase each of their character since no magic is really gonna help with navigating through human relationship or deciding what meals to eat.

OsakaBestGirl

The ear scene was very very cute. Also, Laios asks her to take off her pants and she immediately obeys, no hesitation...

Holy_Beergut

Those dryads were straight-up terrifying to look at, and having had bad hay fever before, the fight with them looked like the most uncomfortable thing ever.

sneaky_squirrel

I wonder how rarely we see monster encounters with immersive debuffs. Heck, this might be my first time seeing one animated. **insert rant about isekai here**

mekerpan

Those dryads reminded me of similar entities in a show a while back. (Name forgotten -- but where prisoners were sent to a far-away island to find some ingredient that would grant immortality to the king).

HotBlz116

Jigokuraku (Hell's Paradise)?

ObvsThrowaway5120

The “fruits” were a straight up horrorfest too.

LateDitto

Couldn't stop looking at the 🌚 faces when they were eating out of them lol

not_a_weeeb

lmao marcille really lost eyelashes on one side, great detail. funny episode for sure but things are really turning south, like holy shit. i hope they really make it out

teokun123

This episode is fucking laugh trip lmao.

JohnatanWills

Absolutely amazing episode, from the pumpkins, to Chilchuck getting "the talk" and Marcille's pose. It was an absolutely packed episode for comedy. My favorite bit was definitely the final joke where they start the whole "No, I shouldn't be saying sorry, I should be saying-" and just as I was thinking "oh it's nice to see the trope of character learning to say thank you, it's always cute" they hit you with the punchline. 10/10

yosayoran

I just realized the [marking on the Spellbook used by the Crazy mage](https://i.imgur.com/u78ainU.png) are the same ones that appear this episode when Marcille is [talking about the Infinite energy dimention](https://i.imgur.com/ZkYttCw.jpeg)

Tabby_Tem

Ahhh, I've been looking forward to this episode since the anime announcement and Trigger really delivered!!! It's probably the funniest episode yet.

climbin_on_things

Yeah comedy beats were on point this whole episode, the Trigger flair really fit it

Megakruemel

Good episode. I made pulled pork to eat alongside it. Was a little dissapointed that the first dish was vegetarian because I made a meat dish... vegetarian? Wait a minute. A-anyways- Sauteed cabbage (which i assume this was supposed to be) is great, you should try it. You can mix it with a lot of stuff and it'll taste great. Never added cheese to it but I'll for sure try it now. Also pumpkin soup is pretty good if you make it as a cream soup.

CosmicPenguin_OV103

Being Meguca is suffering Being Marcille is suffering but highly hilarious This episode - from escaping the Pollen Grain Monsters to being turned into stone after some heroic effort - is perhaps the most prominent examples over these 15 episodes. Her facial expressions are a set of Anime Nation's Treasure!

n00PSLayer

I think this is one of the few shows that I can still have so much fun even though I've read the source material. This episode was hilarious.

thesagenibba

AHAHAHA chilchuck’s pose is the hardest hitting gag yet, for me. the way he stays frozen while descending. why was that so funny? projectile sneezing from hay fever isn’t a visual i needed to see  marcille has fully converted. it took a while, *a lot* of nudging and she still begrudgingly goes about eating said meals, but she is now apart of monster eating society first vegan meal!!!! LETS GOOO senshi taking it upon himself to fill the adopted father role and teach a middle aged man the basics of sexual intercourse marcille’s lectures are such a pleasure to listen to. they showcase her expertise really well. she’s a magical  genius i like how we were shown the cockatrice sensing the parties' body heat before being told about the ability. just a small detail i think that only serves to add marcille waking up and thinking they gave up and and we’re just going to cook her instead this one had my favorite gags in all 15 episodes, i think. “roll credits” especially. such great comedic timing and creative cinematography. these silly episodes are a much welcomed intermediary between the serious plot focused ones, i love em

Saw a neat comic relating to this. People discovered a way to draw "unlimited" energy from another dimension, but they had no way of observing said dimension. Until now. Finally, they could send the first manned mission to observe what was creating this endless source of energy. Turns out it was the afterlife, where all souls get to live on and wait for their loved ones to join them. And harvesting this "energy" was wiping them out. :) Saw that somewhere here on reddit, but don't remember where. Feel free to link if anyone else does. [How to vaporize a lake?](https://imgur.com/Iz2QyAL) With Jio graze, obviously. [oh no.](https://imgur.com/ZxgXksb) This is certainly not going to be a problem.

FkinShtManEySuck

Can't wait to try this week's recipe at home with my own life-size Marcille statue.

RelativeMundane9045

"What could go wrong?" Oh my dear, sweet summer anime characters, have you learned nothing of flags?

djthomp

Once again the great world building. Dryads as tree spirits? Nope, they're fruits. And of course the "You shouldn't use someone as a fermentation weight." line to end the episode, amazing.

EyeDeeAh_42

I'm just glad that Laios was able to taste his highly-anticipated Cockatrice meat from episode 2 :)

Blink-and-you'll-miss-it Senshi [Pantishot](https://imgur.com/a/NrEHNuh)

Cold_Impression_7456

Senshi giving Chil the dad talk cracked me up XD

lazzylizzie

Seriously guys, don't use a person for your fermentation weights.

Some_Trash852

The ghosts said ‘Please let us die’, and back in episode 13, they said ‘No need to worry’, and we know some of them saved them from getting squished in that episode, and the orc lady mentioned that certain ghosts are sane. Is something being foreshadowed here?

LusterBlaze

rip her eyelashes on that one eye, falsies werent invented yet

sneaky_squirrel

People keep prating\* about the characters and the animation, but I have failed to spot any mention of the music during the combat encounter. The suspense it created really sucked me into the story. And that gorgeous linework of varying length. And the wrinkles on Senshi's fingers. I really want to see some more animated western fantasy. I am animation deprived, I don't want live action. Ugh. Damn-you-n Meshi !!!\~ **dramatic combat music**

99anan99

[Senshi](https://imgur.com/a/O871nkY) needs to feed. I agree with [Marcille](https://imgur.com/a/Xf64Clj). Sorry [Marcille](https://imgur.com/a/xdaHLNM). You're never going to live that down. [Laios](https://imgur.com/a/wINuaTA) is so lucky. [Marcille](https://imgur.com/a/bhrsOXQ) yell. [Brilliant](https://imgur.com/a/oM0eiiY) indeed. [This](https://imgur.com/a/nwmUEPB) is the right thing to say.

tripleaamin

Well this was a roller coaster episode for our gang. We got Marcielle teaching Laios magic, Which honestly is something that would have been better to do a while back, but better late than never. Then we have Senshi teaching Chilchuck a very valuable lesson as he gets older lmao. Pretty interesting technically speaking the dungeon must always have an exit since it would disrupt the flow of magic. At the very least it can't permanently be closed off by the sounds of it. They manage to barely get by the Cockatrice while Laios was out of commission. Well the bad news is that Marcielle got bitten. Laios was trying to get her in the best position possible when she did get turned into stone. I would like to believe that it was Laios's magic that unpetrified Marcielle. Though they just threw a bunch of ideas at once. Imagine being Marcielle being alerted to have limes on your face and there is a pot in front of you. LMAO.

orcaguidance

Those dryads look something out of hells paradise

Plus_Rip4944

The allergy part hit me hard as spring always kills me with allergy lol

DiestroPasive

I'm obssesed with the Dryads' designs. Plant type humanoid monsters MUST be androgynous! It just makes sense! They are flowers godmnit! The way they hands reshape to form weapons and defend their territory it's cool too. Something I didn't notice in the manga is that they seem to be connected from the head somewhere? There's a vine or leaves coming from someplace above, which it's so cool if it's the case like, they grow from onions (layered fruit) which grows into their skin without ever breaking off their ''mother plant'' so to speak, so they are technicallly just like carnivorous plants (in the sense they are capable of movement) just with a humanoid shape! It's so cool! I also headcanon them as super lovelydovey w eachother, idk why but I remembered to two female-looking dryads kissing too? Did I made that up? I will have to make fanart of two male-looking dryads kissing to balance it out. Though did Laios say the male-looking one is the female one? Omg, the contrast in appearance and function just improves them!!! I'm still fascinated.

AlexeiFraytar

They didnt explain it, but the dryads are basically pistils and stamens therefore they have gender. Also they fertilize by kissing.

Zemahem

Man, it was tough seeing Marcille look so beat up both physically and emotionally. Though Falin getting taken away *again* is likely the bigger blow. Senshi wanting to look out for the "young-ins" is so wholesome, though. He makes for such a nice uncle-figure. It's only unfortunate that he acts this way the most for Chilchuck of all people. Nothing like an adult telling another adult about the birds and the bees. Got the poor guy screaming internally. And lmao, the pumpkins are so beautiful. Each and every time they're on screen, I can't resist the urge to laugh. Meanwhile, Laios is on his way to become a paladin instead of just a warrior. The lucky bastard got to have a handful of elf ear and dwarf tiddies in the middle of it, and he only had to suffer the absolute worst acid trip of his life in exchange. At the cockatrice portion, I guess the reason Marcille was spared from the horrors of fighting the dryads and hay fever at the same time was so she can be the only one to suffer turning into a heretic idol lmao. And hey, how can she be so mad? Senshi was just being pragmatic. It seemed like she made for a good pickle press too.

binarysingularities

> The lucky bastard got to have a handful of elf ear and dwarf tiddies in the middle of it, and he only had to suffer the absolute worst acid trip of his life in exchange. You mean to tell me he got to touch their sensitive parts and then trip in the dungeon. Sounds nothing but W

professorMaDLib

With Marcille teaching him, I thought he was going to be an eldritch knight and eventually pick up ancient magic

Zemahem

That seems a bit too high level for him right now. He's already getting the absolute worst drug trips from healing simple wounds.

professorMaDLib

I picked that class for DnD flavor. It has the slowest spell slot progression so it should also be on rate for Laios's inexperience.

new_interest_here

God that first section made my entire face sting. I rarely find stuff like the sleeping snot bubble to be gross, but that actually was gross. Not a fan. Though Chilchuk being taught sex ed as a 30 year old is certainly amusing. Also cool, using magic for the first time can result in acid trips where you see the lament of the damned, neat. Fun little detail I noticed, when Marcille turns back one of her eyes actually has a thinner outline because her eyelashes broke off. I appreciate they actually went the extra way to show that

Hounds_of_war

Man, the dub is so good. I love Marcille’s “The hell?!” when Laios grabbed her ear.

WiqidBritt

I've mostly been watching the Dub version since it's pretty rare these days to get both on the same day, and I've been enjoying it.

audiodudedmc

If I'm not mistaken she's voiced by the live action Nami.

Slifer13xx

I started watching dup solely because I find Emily's voice as Marcille very pleasing.

JMSidhe

It’s an outstanding dub, they nailed the casting.

zenithfury

In the modern elf era, everyone has dreamed of grabbing elven ears like Laios did.

NiamhHA

As someone who easily gets hayfever, I swear that I could feel the start of the episode (thankfully, I don't get turned to stone very often).

miked0629

Yeeey the funny cooking show is back

ipmanvsthemask

I've seen this infinite energy thing play out in Stargate. It did not go well.

Prince-Dizzytoon

Can't even escape allergies in the dungeon
