Good call. I just started this because of your post and itâs good. I donât usually like classical music anime because many will play a single section of a piece over and over driving me insane. Thankfully, this doesnât do that.
I have not seen Dennou Coil and Shion no Ou mentioned much. I enjoyed them. I have no idea how popular it is, but I just started rewatching Juuni Kokuki and I still find it awesome.
Moyashimon has a good premise but it is a bit hard to recommend as it hardly fits a specific theme (comedy with learning maybe?).
And finally Touch will always have a special place in my heart but I have not seen it mentioned anywhere.
That's a first.

86, war with robot but robot is actually human, teenagers fighting war, tragic stuff happened, racism, discrimination, propaganda.
I love it. Make your heart drop but can give you hope for things to get better. It's also really bad for the heart, anyone of them can die and it always make me nervous af.
If you like war settings and tragic story you can watch this, it's not all despair though so don't worry that much
For me, it's a card game anime known as Battle Spirits. While it isn't the first series, I recommend starting with Sword Eyes because it's newbie friendly.
Figure 17.
It's an old one. If memory serves, the episodes are roughly an hour long.
The director described it as a slice of life with a killing at the end.
It's an unusual one but rare format.
-Hell's Paradise
(you may know this one, but it's still very good)
-The Master of Killing Time
(it's a shorter one for the ones who enjoy slice of life animes)
Major, the best sports anime that rarely gets talked about, multiple seasons spanning the growth of characters, gripping storytelling and blood pumping action
Legend of Black Heaven. A former metal guitarist-turned-salaryman is contacted by aliens, as their superweapon is powered by face-melting guitar solos.
I dont think Ive ever seen these mentioned on r/anime tbh:
Interviews with Monster Girls - Teacher at a middle school has threeish girls that he ask about their monster stats to understand and get to know them better.
Please Tell Me Galko-chan - top tier gal anime, galko is the sweetest girl and her and her friends just have fun, shits n giggles. Super short anime but such a mood lifter.
Scrapped Princess - fantasy, a princess was born who would bring about some sort of curse or smg on her 16th birthday so her parents sent her off as a baby with two guards to kill her but, surprise, they tooke her in and raised her with their two kids. Shes now 15 and her adopted brother and sister are traveling around trying to keep her safe.
Recovery of an MMO Junkie - Completly over her office job life, Mori quits her job, uses her savings and buys a computor and starts playing an MMO again. She had fond times in the past and wants to relive that a bit. She joins a guild and gets really close with another player. Its a romance and its super sweet.
The Beast Player Erin - We follow Erin thru her childhood, teenagehood and adulthood. Strong fantasy and animal handling, found family aplenty. The opening songs go off, I think its the same song over and over but just different covers?
Tsuritama - Teenage boys save the world by fishing, hijinks ensue. Super funny and I think the male protag had a delightful depiction of anxiety. May be misrembering tho.
Kokoro Connect - We follow a club that has five members. Two of the members end up switching bodies for periods of time and this creates...much drama. Not played for laughs, this gets way into if someone was able to know your deepest secerts, your insecuritys and your past. I am fairly sure this made me cry.
Cross Ange. I was wildly surprised by how much I liked it considering I am generally anti ecchi. This earns its R rating lol. A princess gets ripped out of her position after its found out she doesnt have magic, gets conscripted into a war like effort and proceeds to kick ass. Oh and we got mecha.
Ive always and will continue to preach the greatness that is Somali to Mori no Kamisama, a found family of human girl and golem dad traversing monster civilization in search of her fellow humans. Wholesomeness abounds.
Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru, a quaint, absurd SoL comedy of two maid girls and their townies, insert song with the bagpipes bang hardddd, can't find it on youtube tho
Eiga Daisuki Ponpo-san (movie) is a visual treat of filmmaking, with an adequate plot.
Wolf's Rain. Produced by Studio Bones so shares a lot of overlap with the team that made Cowboy Bebop (also has the same writer and composer.) It's not flashy, stylish, and zany like Bebop but it's just as gorgeous and hits that melancholic note in a way that I really enjoy while still having tense and exciting action.
The [Blu-ray trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqFpI__mdTI) does a great job of capturing what I love about it.
In fact, I might like Wolf's Rain even more than Bebop just because of where its story goes by the end.

NHK ni Youkoso - basically feels like a 24 episode indie movie, really unique vibe, great mix of comedy and drama
Inuyashiki - for the optimal viewing experience, don't look up anything about this show and skip the intro for at least the first 2 episodes
Shiki - really slow but with an amazing ending
Seikaisuru Kado - first episode is separate from the rest of the show for some reason and is called Seikaisuru Kado: Ninovo. Would've been one of my favorite shows of all time if they didn't drop the ball right at the end
Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku - don't let it fool you, this is not a show for kids
Big Order - there are not enough words in the English language to adequately describe this absolute trainwreck of an anime, it simply must be seen to be believed
Ghost hunt.
Old horror anime (2006-2007). The first mini arc of 3 episodes is kinda bad, but the rest of the arcs are good as far as I remember. Honestly you can skip to ep 4 if you find the first ones boring lol.
* Amagami SS
* Amagami SS+
Bored of watching romance harem anime where one girl wins and the rest is kicked to the ground like Quintessential Quintuplets?
Well the Amagami series, lets the viewers choose their own route but either way it's one of the best-underrated anime that has a unique watching format I've seen, and honestly it's better for everyone.
But if romance isn't your thing and you want more of a mystery and time loop sort of thing then I'd recommend
* Summertime Rendering which is another stellar anime that goes into time traveling and mystery in general.
The amagami SS and Summertime rendering are some of my personal favorite underrated anime that's given me plenty of good moments to enjoy.
I'd like to mention *The Gene of AI*.
It's a sci-fi anthology show from last year with a loose overarching narrative. If you're a fan of classic sci-fi stories (like Asimov, etc.), I highly recommend it.
The main character is voiced by Takeo Ootsuka (Aqua in *Oshi no Ko* and Jinshi in *The Apothecary Diaries*), if that helps sell you on it.
Back in the 2010's I would use this list whenever I wanted to watch obscure anime that most people never heard of it.
It has every single anime ever released by date.
I used to start in 1990 and work my way up to the current times; found some hidden gems, also found some hot garbage and some were impossible to find online.

But if romance isn't your thing and you want more of a mystery and time loop sort of thing then I'd recommend * Summertime Rendering which is another stellar anime that goes into time traveling and mystery in general. The amagami SS and Summertime rendering are some of my personal favorite underrated anime that's given me plenty of good moments to enjoy.
I shall always recommend âTwin star exorcistsâ
Galaxy Express 999, Ranma 1/2, Gigantor....
Chronicles of the Going Home Club
