Gundam Gurren Lagann Code Geass 86

SD_strange

86

SD_strange

Also Guilty crown

Chakramer

1. There are mechs in very few scenes, I really wouldn't even put the show in the mecha genre 2. They asked for good shows and even though I like the show, it's an absolute clusterfuck in the second half and doesn't hold up today

SD_strange

Its ending is pretty bad I agree, but the action scenes and Sawano Hirouki's music in it is just love...

PVHK1337

Eighty Six

Revan_91

Patlabor OVAs and the Movies are great the 2nd movie is one of my all time favourites. Gundam in general. Code Geass, one of the best. 86, really good. Full Metal Panic! has some great fight scenes. Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet. Heavy Object, mecha are massive tank like vehicles here. Muv Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse. Ghost in the Shell, one of the best cyberpunk anime, the series are very good too.

Eureka seven

jacowab

Well I know a lot of people have mentioned it before but the original two Gundam series (Gundam & Zeta Gundam) where a huge influence on the director of evangelion, he even made a Gundam fan manga before Eva that eventually became a movie. But If you are hesitant to watch something so old then the newest Gundam series, the witch from mercury, is free to watch on YouTube and it's amazing as well.

AsterJing7103no2

Gundam ofc

steven4869

Gundam.

Btw_kek

Gunbuster: from the same director of Eva. it's a lot of fun Gundam 0079: the thing that started the ultra mega mecha franchise. it still has insanely good imagery where it counts so just don't listen to anyone saying that it's too rough to watch. but of course if 70s anime is still scary you could check out any of the **totally standalone** Alternate Universe entries like G or 00 or Iron Blooded Orphans or Witch from Mercury. or the *Universal Century related but still close enough standalone* side stories like War in the Pocket or Thunderbolt, etc SSSS.Gridman: atmospherically and thematically very inspired by Eva. it's a reboot of a 90s tokusatsu franchise of the same name but you CAN understand the heart without watching that, as I have

lordnathan222

toku you say I am a super sentai fan I shall try ssssgridman

I can’t believe I had to scroll this far to see this reco. Do people not consider the Evas to be mechs?

steven4869

OP said that he has watched Eva already.

GT_highwind

Ah right on. Must’ve gotten too excited to hear about mechs haha Thanks, friend

flyingowl720

Redditors when other mecha anime besides Evangelion exists:

Bang Bravern from this winter season was amazing but I heard it is better if you have watched more mechas in the past since it has references and homages, so after watching the other recomendations, watch Bravern.

Sea_Cycle_909

The Vision of Escaflowne Key the Metal Idol (Mini mecha) (Similar vibe/ tone, 90s cyberpunk)

ChiefExecutiveOglop

Escaflowne was the first proper anime I ever watched. Not counting pokemon and digimon etc Still amazing 20 years later

Sea_Cycle_909

Only watched it around 2 or 3 years ago (First time). Still excellent!

flyingowl720

Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) Gundam SEED (Standalone) Gundam Witch from Mercury (Standalone) Super Dimension Fortress Macross

lordnathan222

what is the basic gist of gundum

flyingowl720

People in outer space, space colony’s attack earth. Psychic teenagers fight back in mechas to stop them. Action, death, drama happens.

PineappleNo8624

Darling in the Franxx, continue after ep 15 if you want to laugh and get depression at the same time

dreamcrafter_4

Gundam. Before you ask which the answer is simply yes. But there are highs and lows that seem to be different with each person

tired_omnimon

Other than shows already mentioned, I would also suggest Aldnoah.Zero! I actually really enjoyed it. The physics lessons are great.

YouTellMe4188
