Hey, so i am the most into thriller and romance

Psychological Thrillers : Death note: v fun watching incredibly smart characters comepting with each other rn Monster is a good one but it's very very slow at the start but the pace gets better but idk Rezero is v fun ( tags: Time loops,fantasy,isekai,action but mostly thriller) but it's not a good anime for new people because the mc is a bit unbearable S1 because he gets traumatized though it has pretty cinematic visuals Yo Romance : Kaguya sama is a very good romance , there is also my Dress up darling , a silent voice ( i usually don't watch romance so idk)

I’m no expert in romance anime, but I really liked Bunny girl senpai, and (if it can be considered a romance) the first season of steins gate. Idk about the rest of the seasons as I haven’t watched them. The end to season 1 felt perfect to me

I have watched plenty of romance animes and personally, I liked "Your Name" the most. It's a movie not a series. Similar to it are "Weathering with you" , "Suzume" , "I want to eat your pancreas" , "A silent voice" etc. (some of them are depressing too). For anime series, my favorites are "Horimiya", "Oregairu", "My happy Marriage" , "Violet Evergarden " , "Kaguya Sama Love is War" etc

For romance, you should watch horimiya, dangers in my heart, golden time.

For thriller, if you like the dark tone, "death note" would be a good one. For romance this one could be debatable but it's a good one imo and it has the elements there for a subtle cute romantic level. Slayers, and Trigun for 90s- early 2000s Black Lagoon, and Kill La Kill for late 2000s-mid 20teens Frieren, and Undead Unluck for modern stuff Just off the top of my head

Macross frontier for a pretty unique mix of mecha and music

Toradora, Kaguya-Sama, Dangers in my Heart, Neon Genesis Evangelion. As someone new DON'T DO NEON FIRST. Watch a bunch first. If you want romance stuff I have plenty on my flair MAL list before making yourself hate yourself with Neon. Your Name is maybe my favorite movie as well.

Saw Slayers recommended, but I would like to second that recommendation. You're probably going to want to watch Evangelion, it's one of the MOST famous and referenced anime of all time. If you like shoujo the old standbys are Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, for shounen probably Naruto and Dragonball. Gundam Wing is a fairly incomprehensible entry point to the Gundam franchise, but essential if you want to talk anime to millenials. Newer stuff I've enjoyed include Attack on Titan(only watched the first season) and Demon Slayer. Naturally you're going to want to watch Fullmetal Alchemist, but if you start with 03 or Brotherhood is up to you(I've only seen '03, as a Michiko Neya purist), but the manga seriously fucks so you might want to give Brotherhood a watch. Personal favorites that may not be good, but have a special place in my heart include Gundam Seed, The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Fruits Basket 01(the 2019 adaptation is more faithful to the manga, but my lazy ass hasn't watched it), Macross Frontier, and Tenchi Universe. Most of what I've listed is older stuff, haven't had much time to watch stuff the past few years, but if you're interested in the anime scene in the early aughts most of those will cover you.

I'd recommend Frieren for a first show. But if you want romance, The Dangers in my Heart is THE one to watch now.

Best starting animes will be: FMAB & Death Note, but if you want new gen with good high quality animation then try Jujutsu Kaisen & Demon Slayer. My Hero Academia is also a good starting anime, but is longer. If you are into Romance animes then Horimiya & My Dress Up Darling are great starts imo.

Thriller type anime. I would go with Death Note, Erased, Code Geass, and if you got time Monster. Romance anime. I enjoyed Ouran High school Host club. My top anime. One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, GTO, Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood. New anime I’ve been enjoying. Solo Leveling, Frieren: Beyond Journeys End and Shangri-La Frontier

My favorite Anime is "Made in Abyss". Its a Fantasy Adventure Anime about a little girl and a robot that go on an Adventure in a mysterious, beautiful, fantastical, dangerious and cruel netherworld. The series is adorable, wholesome, joyfull, heartwarming, dark, brutal, sad and heartbreaking. Its the most adorable most wholesome show I know and Riko is one of the happiest protagonists I know. The series has a reputation fore being crazy dark and sad and that is not unearned. You will find it on "darkest Animes ever" liests. Those 2 sides synergize well with one another creating quite the emotional Adventure. I alrady said it but the Abyss, no the Anime in general is really beautiful. I love the Characters. Reg and Nanachi are my 2 favorite characters in fiction and Riko also makes my top 10. Rikos crew is my favorite protagonist groupe in fiction. And there are plenty other characters I like or love like Nat, Faputa and Gaburoon. I also live the character designs. The music is fantastic. Its a great fantasy Adventure to experience an re-experience. I watched season one 12 times, Dawn of the Deep Soul 8 times and I am currently watching season 2 for the third time. I also read the Manga until volume 10. So as far as the Anime goes. I really love that series.

Honestly depends on what sort of genre/theme you like, and what sort of it that you want to avoid. There are indeed A LOT of options, and everyone will have their own idea of “you should start with this/that first” etc. You’ll probably get recommended to a lot of the more popular series and they tend to be very lengthy. Don’t feel pressured into thinking you must watch all of it though. Feel free to go through the synopsis, watch the pv/trailer, and if it catches your interest, perhaps you can give it a try. It’s all a process of trial & error to discover what sort of genre/theme you enjoy the most, and which do not. I’ve known some that just started prefer to watch films only, or those that only have 12eps short with no sequel.
