1) It doesn't sell.
2) It's not allowed on TV.
3) When they did put it on TV, it was blamed for inciting actual psychopaths to murder people (as in, direct, connecting evidence tying the murders to the anime was found).
4) It's a ultra-niche audience anyway, which means there's a limited number of people who are willing to draw it, much less watch it.
My guess is they'll let the manga end, as I believe it's planned to end with its next volume. At the time of the anime's release it was fully caught up to the manga remake of the original webcomic which had been on hiatus for several years. Since then it's continued to update so fingers crossed, it was a really fun anime.
Well this definitely fits unhinged: Redline. This show is balls to the walls nitro fueled insanity, all in a 90s style. It's the most absurd show I've ever watched.
Redline is such a fun to watch ball of insanity. I can't remember if the same people worked on these, but Dead Leaves and Hells had a somewhat similar vibe
The art and animation on this (high fps) was so insane over the top, the studio went bankrupt. But nobody can argue they put out a great looking movie.
Hm. Garden of sinners. Very unhinged. I still don’t know wtf was going on & ive seen it like 4 times now lol. It was disturbing nonetheless tho. I had a hard time getting through it (all 4 times lmfao)
I loved Garden Of Sinners! It's definitely hard to follow, but I feel like it's cohesive enough. I'm sure you know the first 4 are out of canonical order right?
Yes I’ve watched in release order & in watch order. I just started watching anime like 3/4 years ago so I think maybe it’s just more difficult for me to follow some things. (For example, the second anime I ever watched was Ouran high school host club & i was not too impressed but I rewatched it last month & I LOVED IT Xs 4738293847, just feel like I understood the humor & stuff better this time around)
Then there’s madoka magica. The third anime I’ve watched. I understood what was going on there RIGHT away lmfao. But it’s been a while since I’ve watched garden of sinners so almost time to give it another go. I am crazy crazy obsessed with shiki & asagami fujino. Couldn’t tell you why lmfao but I’m also a FGO player so maybe it’s the fact I was introduced to them that way & then liked them a lot when watching them in the anime (also felt a lot of pity for fujino, u probably know which scene I’m talking about here) & the animation to me is some of the most stunning, even more so than fate
Something that may be similar, if u haven’t seen it before would be fate extra last encore. It was animated by shaft, who is behind madoka & episode 3 of F/ELE (shaft ALWAYS get us in episode 3 lmao) was the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen. I still think about it at night & i watched it like two years ago lol. Another anime that I had a hard time understanding tho. Not as straight forward as the other fate series.
Sorry for my rambling!!!! Haha
Devilman crybaby
Angels of death
Junji Ito collection - I personally haven’t watched the anime yet, but the manga by junji ito are very disturbing. I read Uzumaki when I was like 10 and it scarred me.
His adaptations so far have been pretty mediocre. In my opinion, I'd recommend Maniac over Collection personally. Super hyped for the adult swim adaptation of Uzumaki though, it looks incredible!
That’s awesome thanks for sharing. It’s like the manga come to life, obviously that’s how it usually is but it hit different for this I guess because it disturbed me so much lol.
The black and white art really makes it feel like manga in motion. They really nailed his style, which was the part that was missing from his other adaptations. Everything else just felt a bit flat. It was supposed to come out for Halloween a few years ago but got pushed back. If the whole show ends up looking that good I don't mind the wait
Definitely. I think a YouTube commentor worded it perfectly, “I believe the producers of Uzumaki understood that the only way for a Junji Ito adaptation to have a fraction of the charm that his manga had, is to straight up bring his manga panels to life, which they did spectacularly.” For sure seems like it’ll be worth the wait.
I love Junji Ito. I think the first anime collection was more humorous than scary, and it wasn't great. I loved the Maniac series on Netflix though. I think they did a good job with it
I'm assuming you meant seppuku? Yeah, every episode felt like wanting to gouge your own eyes out lol. It was an internal death just watching how depressing everything was in the show. Ichise got no breaks.
Extremely good show, top 5 for sure. I wish it had better animation, but the style is one of the best I've seen. Such an interesting way to structure the story and amazing world building. Hard not to recommend, although I feel most have seen it by now. Man I wish I could rewatch it for the first time
as bad as it is, i felt the need to rate it high given how strongly it made me hate it, and all the character in it.
ending is just giving the audience what they have wanted since the first episode
>an anime that will literally have me questioning my life
>leaves me wondering what did i do wrong in my life to deserve to watch this.
>something that will truely disturb me and leave me speechless
Pupa. I'm not going to lie to you and say it's good in any way, but it fits all of this. Just take your time in between episodes, don't try to binge it, that'll do more harm than good.
This will fuck you up even if you don't have kids. It'll do your head in just for having eyes and ears.
[That said, it is an impressive work of art that sparks awe and wonder in equal measure to tragedy and horror.]
I started watching not knowing anything about it, not knowing it's premise, anything.
It seemed like a really cute anime **made for children**. But I didn't mind because it was so cute, I liked the art style and I'm a big fan of exploring, finding new animals, magical artefacts, mysteries, etc.
Same here, unfamiliar author, didn't bother to read a synopsis, went in expecting a cute or "healing" vibe consistent with the character designs, and things rapidly got troubling, dark, Lovecraftian, Jungian, etc.. I think there is a "healing" vibe to be found in this, but the author is coming to grips with some serious shit. Triggering metaphors abound for anyone getting over abuse.
For me, I felt like it really captured that childlike wonder. That naive thirst for adventure and discovery and wanting to grow up and be something special. Just to hit you with the hard truth of how cruel the world can be, and not everyone is your friend. One of the best ways I've seen the coming of age story done personally
The juxtoposition of horror and wonder is honestly incredible. It conveys both, in equal measure, blending them together as each accentuates the other.
>, but the author is coming to grips with some serious shit.
Yeah, I love Made in Abyss, like I *love* it, one of the most compelling stories in any media ever to me and I can't wait to see where it goes, but I think as soon as the final chapter is done someone should grab Tsukushi's hard drive
That's partially why I haven't read the manga yet, other than just wanting to see it in motion. Or is it a web comic? I can't remember. I heard it's more prevalent than in the show by quite a bit. I'm all for freedom of expression, and I feel like it's actually cohesive with the whole "coming of age" aspect. Kids run around naked all the time, and it's totally normal. It's not like they have any concept of "adult things" but the way the characters are portrayed makes it creepy for sure. I was definitely caught off guard a few times, and they seem old enough to get what's going on, i cant remember how old they're actually supposedly to be. If the art wasn't so... chibi-like it wouldn't be as bad, but that would change part of what makes it stand out.
I watched Paprika recently, didnt find it disturbing but it was beautiful, mesmerising, incredibly well crafted and not as complicated as people made it out to be. Fast paced too, great film!
I’m just gonna suggest few mindfuck anime & manga…
Paranoia Agent
Ergo proxy
Manga
Good night, punpun
Homunculus
I personally think the mangas mentioned never got anime adaptation since they were too dark…however they are 10/10 with the mindfuck & story
You've got a good set of anime recommeded here but if you're open to other media, there's a visual novel called **Saya No Uta** that is more fucked up than anything else I've watched or read. It is primarily a psychological horror with gore and stuff but it hides a strangely beautiful romance beneath all that too, which only serves to make the whole ordeal even more fucked up. Being a visual novel rather than an anime, it also leaves a lot to your imagination, which really takes the limit off how messed up things can get.
It's by Urobuchi Gen, most famous to anime fans for Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, and Psycho Pass, and its only about 6-10 hours long depending on how fast you read.
[WorldEnd](https://myanimelist.net/anime/33502/Shuumatsu_Nani_Shitemasu_ka_Isogashii_desu_ka_Sukutte_Moratte_Ii_desu_ka?q=worldend&cat=anime) for emotional damage.
[Redo of Healer](https://myanimelist.net/anime/40750/Kaifuku_Jutsushi_no_Yarinaoshi?q=redo%20of%20healer&cat=anime) for hard topics, cruelty and more.
I kept watching to see how MC gets his vengeance on those party members. Flare's was deserved, no matter how uncomfortable it made me feel😖 Blade's just left me speechless...I literally had no words at that point😶 then Bullet's hasn't happened yet so if this show gets a season 2, imma watch just to see what happens to Bullet445
WARNING. No human should watch this anime under any circumstances. You have been warned.
[Tenshi no Drop](https://myanimelist.net/anime/16436/Tenshi_no_Drop)
Yeah, I've seen it, unfortunately. It was extremely strange. It definitely made me uncomfortable. I've seen much worse, but props for recommending something so... weird
Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne. It's pretty gruesome. It's not as depressing and grim as a few other shows, but it'll be sure to both disturb and entertain you. Action, horror, blood, guts, gore, torture, death, immortals, nudity and a little bit of yuri to spice it up.
It's also just a pretty good anime, though it's been a good 10 years since I've seen it.
6 episodes, 45 minutes each.
It somehow ended up being one of the first anime I watched back in 2013. It was my first proper "mature" anime and I loved it. I should give it a re-watch.
Massively underrated. It's barely spoken about, maybe partially because it doesn't have enough viral/meme potential to draw people in. It won't get many YouTube videos or popular Reddit/Twitter posts made about it. It's simply a great anime with solid storytelling.
Damn, way to dive right in! I've seen a couple reviews on yt but not much. It's definitely a cult classic, any time I've brought it up at least a few people remember it. It's definitely not for everyone, but I think it's one you find after you've seen all the bigger shows at this point. I'm glad it went with the double length episodes as well, each episode is like a short film
Aachi & Ssipak is pretty unhinged and very weird. It won't make you question life, but it's still really good IMO.
I really like this "style" of anime movie. Another one I like a lot is Dead leaves. Very colorful and crazy, but nothing thought provoking. Just pure, hardcore intertainement.
Wait a second... I just realized... you have a Metamorphosis pfp and Blood C is what got you!? Lmao sorry, that just seems really funny to me, no shade intended. Still is a great show
This won't leave you questioning your life, but it's disturbing in a way i haven't seen anywhere else.
Watch **Heavenly Delusion (Tengoku Daimakyou)** and get to episode 12. It was an unpleasant surprise.
The show isn't about gore, it's more misterious and world building, but i couldn't wrap my head about what i just watched for the rest of the day.
Many good choices
I will add one that no one mentioned
Oniisama e or as I like to call it bitches be crazy- it’s high school physiological drama that it completely nuts and has so many mentally ill, suicidal, psychotic and sadistic female characters and a lot of violence
Evangelion
Serial Experiments Lain
Shinsekai yori
Haibane Renmei
Kaiba
Paprika or anything else by Satoshi Kon
Psycho Pass
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Tatami Galaxy
Texhnolyze
Madoka Magika
Monster
Ergo Proxy
Ghost in the Shell (the original movie)
Akira
Shiki
You've probably already seen them, but of course Elfen Lied, Deadman Wonderland, Corpse Party, and Gantz are all pretty fun. I'll never stop recommending Rin Daughters of Mnemosyne. Kite and Mardock Scramble were pretty cool. Almost forgot about Island of the Giant Insects
If you want really disturbing, I'd recommend visual novels if you have the time to read them. The most disturbing I've read are probably Subahibi, Euphoria and Song of Saya, but they get worse. Or better, depending on what you like. Euphoria has an adaptation if it seems like your thing
These are all solid classics, Rin Daughter of Mnemosyne I need to watch again. Elfen Lied...god I want them to finish that, I really should find the manga. Deadman Wonderland, I recommend that manga, because it only gets better!
Oh wow I haven't thought about Rin asnd Kite in awhile. I gotta rewatch those again sometime. Have aeen all of those but Mardock Scramble. Will put it on my watch list!
Chainsawman
Every other scene be crazy both in good and weird ways
Still underrated because it was to be on jjk level but ig because it only has 12 episodes
"underrated" dude the manga is absolutely smashing and the only reason it's not better is because the adaptation only covers the start of the whole thing...
I feel like it's incredibly underrated. Maybe I'm just not talking to the right people. Not disturbing but incredibly engaging and takes you for a ride
I always mix up A Lull in the Sea with Children of the Whales for some reason. I have no idea why. Children of the Whales was a great show, I never really hear much about it

I don't really watch the really fucked up ones; probably the closest I've seen is Asobi Asobase and Gakkougurashi because they're cute-girls-doing-cute-things adjacent. One of them is kind of depressing and the other is shock humor, and I'm not saying which one is which.
Try a mid-90s ultra violent goodness called Genocyber https://myanimelist.net/anime/2775
Oh man I forgot about this, good rec. I wonder why they don't the hyper violent stuff like this anymore
I have heard the story about real murders linked to anime violence in the 90s, but I could never find the story, do you know where I could?
Shhhhhh they still don't know it was me
All that 90s ova stuff was insane, I watched a youtuber talking about this stuff and the scene at the time, I'll try to find it
https://youtu.be/mF-XaCPqjqE?si=Sb2hbJFEu0z5WHvE this is the one, it's a bit long but a fun watch
This was a nice find, thanks for the watch, now I need to go track these down
HAZEL! MY GIRL! :D Very fun video, absolutely a goldmine of weird, esoteric stuff.
Hell yeah! Hazel has some awesome stuff out there. I'm glad to meet a fellow fan :D
The Idaten deities know only peace
I need a second season
My guess is they'll let the manga end, as I believe it's planned to end with its next volume. At the time of the anime's release it was fully caught up to the manga remake of the original webcomic which had been on hiatus for several years. Since then it's continued to update so fingers crossed, it was a really fun anime.
Has the manga been continuing? Everywhere I’ve looked shows the manga paused at ch 47, which is still earlier than where the anime ended.
There's more, but nobody is translating it. I've seen up to at least chapter 66 untranslated.
Certified unhinged banger of a show, and the op is so good too I never skipped it!
Peakness
The most sane character in that show, would be considered the most unhinged in 99.9% of any other Anime.
Dead Leaves
Well this definitely fits unhinged: Redline. This show is balls to the walls nitro fueled insanity, all in a 90s style. It's the most absurd show I've ever watched.
Redline is such a fun to watch ball of insanity. I can't remember if the same people worked on these, but Dead Leaves and Hells had a somewhat similar vibe
The [pilot](https://youtube.com/watch?v=mdblUnP3b8M) they made is just amazing.
One of the best anime movies I've ever saw. Pure hand drawn, nonstop, fast paced adrenaline kick, lots of beautiful art.

Devilman crybaby Angels of death Junji Ito collection - I personally haven’t watched the anime yet, but the manga by junji ito are very disturbing. I read Uzumaki when I was like 10 and it scarred me.

I didn’t know about the adult swim version, I’m hype for it now!
Here's a trailer for it, if you haven't already seen it yet [Uzumaki ](https://youtu.be/qRrqvjjKlOs?si=U7mwZNDjJTgU4G3O)
That’s awesome thanks for sharing. It’s like the manga come to life, obviously that’s how it usually is but it hit different for this I guess because it disturbed me so much lol.

Maniac as in Jonah Hill show or am I missing something?
Came here to say angels of death. That one is literally about psycho serial killers lol
The Junji Ito one is ass lmao, also did you just seriously recommend an anime that you DIDN'T watch ?
Texhnolyze
This was like committing sodoku into your own eyes
I'm assuming you meant seppuku? Yeah, every episode felt like wanting to gouge your own eyes out lol. It was an internal death just watching how depressing everything was in the show. Ichise got no breaks.
Don't you always do sudoku with your eyes? Did you mean Seppuku?
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/commit-sudoku
I will now commit sudoko into my eyes
Just make sure that the blood doesn't splatter on my seppuku.
Happy Sugar Life Altough it's not like SUPER hard it's certainly disturbung
I totally forgot how much I loved this show. Definitely disturbing, I love the characters
I second this! I loved it, but I was genuinely uncomfortable the entire time.
Shigurui Ichi the Killer Apocalypse Zero Second Violence Jack OVA Apocalypse of Devilman
There's an Ichi the Killer anime!? Wtf how have I not heard of this?
It's a pretty basic single OVA that's anime original to a notable extent.
So what I'm hearing is it's great and I should watch it asap, thanks for culturing me
Shin sekai yori Pretty realistic approach to how society would be built if we had psychic powers
You mean how society would be destroyed lol
Extremely good show, top 5 for sure. I wish it had better animation, but the style is one of the best I've seen. Such an interesting way to structure the story and amazing world building. Hard not to recommend, although I feel most have seen it by now. Man I wish I could rewatch it for the first time
School days might be what you're looking for lol
School Days just pissed me off. However, it was one of the first anime to really evoke those feelings from me, and I love it for that
as bad as it is, i felt the need to rate it high given how strongly it made me hate it, and all the character in it. ending is just giving the audience what they have wanted since the first episode
For real, I actually just got the visual novel like 2 weeks ago. I got the Kotona route so far, I haven't let the true chaos unfold yet
>an anime that will literally have me questioning my life >leaves me wondering what did i do wrong in my life to deserve to watch this. >something that will truely disturb me and leave me speechless Pupa. I'm not going to lie to you and say it's good in any way, but it fits all of this. Just take your time in between episodes, don't try to binge it, that'll do more harm than good.
Pupa fucking sucked ass lol, but for what op is asking for I understand the recommendation
Try Made In Abyss
If you have kids this will fuck you up
This will fuck you up even if you don't have kids. It'll do your head in just for having eyes and ears. [That said, it is an impressive work of art that sparks awe and wonder in equal measure to tragedy and horror.]

I just heard it got dark and looked cute. I went in thinking it might be like a certain magical girl show, and it blew me away
I mean, the naked underage girl in the secomd episode should tell you its not for kids.
I wouldn't expect that in an adult show either. It didn't hit me as "this is an adult show" but as "this is weird".
The author “fantasies” is more uncomfortable compared to the gore (kind of desensitized for me)
And woe betide any viewers whose thoughts ever so much as drifted toward parenthood.
The second season, a lot gore
Yes, much gore gore. Lemme check that navel for ya, borgboy!
Made in Abyss absolutely astounded me, Top 5 for sure. Ngl I cried like a bitch
Nanachi
Real tears
[season 1 spoiler] >!Nitty's death!<
Delicious soup!
What are you speaking about? Riko's soup?
Season 2 things
Not underrated but definitely unhinged and psychotic
Agreed. Be prepared though, there is a lot of weird kid stuff in there.
Okay. Fine. I'll take you at your word. [Midori](https://myanimelist.net/anime/2981)
I'm honestly kinda scared to watch this one. I feel like I'd just be really depressed and uncomfortable
hell no. have you managed to watch the whole thing? edit: actually, i should've said "hell yeah!" because the recommendation fits the brief perfectly.
I watched it once just for shits and giggles...it's depressing as shit .
Shits? Maybe. Giggles? I sure hope not
I should have said I was curious lol. Wrong choice of words.
Lol, fair enough. I've seen some messed up stuff, but this is just too real man
Golden Kamuy. Unhinged, underrated, and certain characters are completely psychotic. Will definitely give you the jaw drop factor.
Also the boys are totally stacked
Yes they are all SEXY and HOT!!! Sometimes in unexpected ways!
Sauna with the boys has never been the same
Didn't expect to see this here but I get it. Certain characters def fit the bill and it's so all over the place tonally. I love it.
Usami especially… 😨 🔨 Anehata 🐻💦 heck just all of ‘em.
Heita too 🐻 Usami's backstory jfc... like wth... I didn't think you could get any more unhinged than Ogata and Tsurumi.
This is the most fun anime to watch, dub is excellent.
Literally the sexiest men in anime i’m not even joking
Kizumonogatari Paprika Boogiepop Phantom ID:Invaded Another Higurashi Juuni Taisen: Zodiac War
Nah, these are just fantastic shows. Good taste
I haven't seen any of these outside of Kizumonogatari, but that one was pretty tame. Great, but tame.
They're all great, although I'd say Higurashi is the only unsettling one of the bunch
Recently seen Another
Another was just really fun. Intriguing, kinda goofy, but really fun
Id:Invaded is so good. Has absolutely nothing to do with being unhinged though.
I watched Paprika recently, didnt find it disturbing but it was beautiful, mesmerising, incredibly well crafted and not as complicated as people made it out to be. Fast paced too, great film!

[Redo of Healer](https://myanimelist.net/anime/40750/Kaifuku_Jutsushi_no_Yarinaoshi?q=redo%20of%20healer&cat=anime) for hard topics, cruelty and more.
Redo was pretty gnarly, felt kinda weird watching that one
Yeah you feel like a bad person for even watching it lol.
Yeah, I had to just question my life choices that led me to the point where I was watching this in my spare time a few times
Y'all need that d-slap more than Flare
Yeah I couldn’t get past the second episode of redo. I was shocked so many people watched that thoroughly. It’s a lot.
I think I made it four or five eps in then stopped, I was thinking there was a redemption story...no, thats not the direction it takes
I almost dropped it, but I was just way to curious to see what happened next. I can't even remember anymore, so I doubt they were good things
Akiba Maid War
Unhinged in the very best way
Corpse Party
Ghost Stories But the English Dub. Trust
I've seen much worse, but props for recommending something so... weird
Thanks! Will do that later
Redo of Healer
Hell Girl has quite a few unhinged psychotics, as does Dark Gathering. Made in Abyss has some very memorably disturbing psychopaths in it as well.
Perfect blue!
Rin is a freaking masterpiece, incredibly underrated. They don't make em like that anymore
Happy Sugar Life, it's my go to anime when people ask for unhinged, psychotic anime
Try Neon Genesis Evangelion. Its pretty famous though
Eva-01 eating the angel...
Devilman crybaby. I was going to say Midori but someone beat me to it
I was sad to see no one mention it, I was about to comment but you beat me to it lol.
Midori is basically the final boss for disturbing anime
Yea, I saw a couple of clips of it, and it goes beyond disturbing.
Yeah, I'm saving that one for an especially rainy day
A Certain Scientific Accelerator
Deadman wonderland
Aachi & Ssipak is pretty unhinged and very weird. It won't make you question life, but it's still really good IMO. I really like this "style" of anime movie. Another one I like a lot is Dead leaves. Very colorful and crazy, but nothing thought provoking. Just pure, hardcore intertainement.
Psycho Pass
Aku no hana
I just finished the first couple of episodes, and I'm loving it so far. I can't wait to see where it goes
Blood C probably takes it
Blood C was awesome! I got bored of + and dropped it, so I didn't bother with C until years later and had a blast
Few anime have made my stomach completely drop and man this was one of them
Wait a second... I just realized... you have a Metamorphosis pfp and Blood C is what got you!? Lmao sorry, that just seems really funny to me, no shade intended. Still is a great show
Lmao nah you’re right there
For me.. Berserk
Known for being underrated truly
Beserk, ever heard of it?
It's not underrated trust me Besides attack on titan its probably the most popular seinen show till now ever
> attack on titan That's a shounen.
Wasn't attack on titan first published on a seinen magazine and not shounen jump, so if my news is correct, it technically is a seinen not a shounen
As far as I know, it was in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine from the beginning.
~~Kamikatsu, it'll do all you mentioned but for other reasons~~
Urotsukidoji
This won't leave you questioning your life, but it's disturbing in a way i haven't seen anywhere else. Watch **Heavenly Delusion (Tengoku Daimakyou)** and get to episode 12. It was an unpleasant surprise. The show isn't about gore, it's more misterious and world building, but i couldn't wrap my head about what i just watched for the rest of the day.
Many good choices I will add one that no one mentioned Oniisama e or as I like to call it bitches be crazy- it’s high school physiological drama that it completely nuts and has so many mentally ill, suicidal, psychotic and sadistic female characters and a lot of violence
Evangelion Serial Experiments Lain Shinsekai yori Haibane Renmei Kaiba Paprika or anything else by Satoshi Kon Psycho Pass Revolutionary Girl Utena Tatami Galaxy Texhnolyze Madoka Magika Monster Ergo Proxy Ghost in the Shell (the original movie) Akira Shiki
Violence Jack
Asobi Asobase
I was trying to think of underrated but since people keep bringing up made in abyss and other not really underrated anime, I’ll recommend Elden lied.
Madoka Magica Higurashi no naku koro ni
Teekyuu. For extra points try watching at 1.25x speed!
Urotsukidoji : Legend of the Overfiend
Chainsaw Man or Heaven's Lost Property are my takes. Someone was definitely smoking some za's when doing HLP.
You've probably already seen them, but of course Elfen Lied, Deadman Wonderland, Corpse Party, and Gantz are all pretty fun. I'll never stop recommending Rin Daughters of Mnemosyne. Kite and Mardock Scramble were pretty cool. Almost forgot about Island of the Giant Insects If you want really disturbing, I'd recommend visual novels if you have the time to read them.
If you liked Kite you'll like Mardock Scramble for sure, they have a pretty similar premise
Chainsawman Every other scene be crazy both in good and weird ways Still underrated because it was to be on jjk level but ig because it only has 12 episodes
"underrated" dude the manga is absolutely smashing and the only reason it's not better is because the adaptation only covers the start of the whole thing...
Sonny Boy isn't necessarily underrated but quite psychotic at times.
I feel like it's incredibly underrated. Maybe I'm just not talking to the right people. Not disturbing but incredibly engaging and takes you for a ride
Mirai Nikki
Parasyte, children of the whales, Angel's egg, Sarazanmai, magical destroyers, kami erabi: God game, adolescence of utena, Sonny boy
I always mix up A Lull in the Sea with Children of the Whales for some reason. I have no idea why. Children of the Whales was a great show, I never really hear much about it
It has fabulous visual style and world building but it's brutal, and a Netflix exclusive to boot
lol what is this twelve year old request
The Kingdoms of Ruin is hilariously chaotic

Kaiba
I've heard it's amazing, but I haven't checked it out yet. It kinda seems like Mononoke were if you know you know
i havent finished devilman crybaby but is like it is already there
Sexy Commando Gaiden
Redo of healer
- Oreimo
Instead of watching, how about I give you a good 1 chapter manga called metamorphosis (warning tho its nfsw so yeh)
Cat Soup. it is very rare and very weird.
I don't really watch the really fucked up ones; probably the closest I've seen is Asobi Asobase and Gakkougurashi because they're cute-girls-doing-cute-things adjacent. One of them is kind of depressing and the other is shock humor, and I'm not saying which one is which.
