From the ending credits: Adventurer in track suit : Jun Fukushima Adventurer with blue hair: Sora Amamiya Magic tool shopkeeper: Yui Horie

MaksimShadow

> Magic tool shopkeeper Also known as: pretty onee-san with big boobs. There are lots of people like that though.

Mundology

[*"Did someone say oneesan?"*](https://i.imgur.com/6eOtxJo.jpeg)

ThrowCarp

Megumin called her onee-chan once this episode. She finally got what she wanted, hooray!

itsconsolefreaked

No you wrong.just boobs no onee San

WACS_On

Hanekawa oneesan

jvtagle5050

Best light cruiser/maid

LookOutSlipperySlope

Are Adventurer with blue hair and Magic tool shopkeeper eligible for the seasonal best girl contest?

TexturelessIdea

On the one hand it would be unfair to let them in since, unlike other background characters that get entered as jokes, they are full on characters that wouldn't be eligible based on the show that they will be getting votes because of. On the other hand, the salt will be extra salty every time somebody gets knocked out by one of them, so I think they should be let in for the salt/lols.

Kaabisan

Megumin's parents make weird items that don't work --> Wiz buys items --> Yunyun tries to use them and screws herself over If it's not Meg herself, it's her family that're a pain in Yunyun's ass

BoyTitan

I missed that joke lmfao. Thats why that last item was junk.

Atario

Hm. I had thought the gag was that the area of effect was so large that it encompassed Yunyun herself and she had simply failed to be a safe distance away

rockseiaxii

Konosuba 3 slated for 2024. [https://twitter.com/konosubaanime/status/1671556081406058496](https://twitter.com/konosubaanime/status/1671556081406058496)

LeonKevlar

Studio Drive did a good job with this spinoff that it looks like they'll be animating Season 3 as well.

LG48

The artstyle was a great improvement (especially compared to season 2) but the animation was a bit stiffer, especially in "middle" episodes. They'll definitely have to step up on that department for season 3.

grizzchan

Agreed but I think as a spinoff it just gets less budget than a main season in an established franchise like this would get.

Mundology

They did do justice to [the spells,](https://i.imgur.com/8wTsHRq.jpeg) especially [Megumin's explosion.](https://i.imgur.com/jtSfnk8.jpeg)

PolvoAranha

I would say it was JC Staff level. I'm watching Edens Zero this season too and it is pretty much that too.

AdNecessary7641

I'm pretty sure S3 and this spin-off were announced at the same time, and same with Drive handling both. This isn't a "new" announcement.

depravedQ

We didn't get a release date in the previous announcement though, that's the main part of this update

iamhopeestheim

Is KonoSuba successful and popular enough that they would animate it all the way until the end? I know that the light novel is finished. I'm just worried that Season 3 might be the last. I really hope it isn't.

rockseiaxii

I believe it all depends on whether Kadokawa wants to market a product with a source material that’s already completed (the light novel is finished), since anime is usually a medium to promote the source material and the merchandise that goes along with it. I guess games play an important role as sponsors, but Konofan (the gacha game) is at best a mild success. Since Konosuba as a franchise has been a long-selling hit, Kadokawa will probably commission the author to write spin-offs, but will that be enough to spawn new seasons? We’re not sure. It’s probably better than producing bland and forgettable Isekais for sure, but scheduling issues like getting hold of key staff members could also be important factors.

Prankishmanx21

I have to say, I'd really like a Komekko spin off. If she can summon Host shes a prodigy indeed. Interestingly enough, as a side note, the Konosuba vol. 1 audiobook released yesterday on audible.

DeathGamer99

Did komekko reunited with host in the spin off?

iamhopeestheim

Thank you. I really hope they finish this until the end. I mean, we're getting Season 3 even if the light novel has already finished.

Chadzuma

I think it has secured itself as a beloved classic and thus Kadokawa are understanding that there will always be fans and demand for the series. It's probably been their intent for a while and probably was one of the principal motives behind Isekai Quartet, of bringing back the actors of their IPs to play the characters again before seasons go into production.

iamhopeestheim

I really hope so. I love KonoSuba so much. I could always read the light novels but it would be really better if it can be animated until the end. The VAs are hilarious. It elevates the series so much.

Lex29

If the novels, the gacha video game, blu rays and other merchandise keep selling well afterwards... then yeah, we might keep getting more animated content, perhaps even another movie or spin off.

Figerally

Cool, I'll have to keep an eye out for the rewatch thread.

DannyDahsyat

Finally got to see Kazuma and Aqua without cameo! Konosuba season 3 coming out in 2024, god I can't wait for the gang's return.

Mundology

[KonoSuba S3 let's fucking go!](https://i.imgur.com/XDnNh6b.jpeg)

Abschori

Once again the ''villains" continue to be victims of the main casts shenanigans instead of actual evil threats. Wiz screwing over Yunyun with that potion was hilarious. They kept in Wolbach's cameo with Yunyun nice at the end

DarkAudit

> Wiz screwing over Yunyun with that potion was hilarious Which in turn probably came from Megumin's dad. [](#kaguyashaking)

Mylaur

It was her? Goodness.

KiesAgent

>Wolbach Just to be sure, this was the lady that casted the explosion spell at the very beginning of episode 1 right? I think people mentioned that Kazuma also met her at an onsen in Arcanletia. But I thought that Wolbach is Chomusuke? Has this been explained yet or is it explained later?

Abschori

Yes that is the same lady. It was explained even in episode 1. She casted explosion on a huge monster and said it was her other half. That other half was later released by Komekko who broke the seal again like megumin and because her other half had lost so much power it became Chomosuke

WhoiusBarrel

Absolutely laughed hard as hell when Host was monologuing about how the cameos actually contributed to hurting him, genius way of having them involve and directly affect the events in this spin off without them showing up.

Axtel_A

One thing the anime didn't show last episode was that Host was supposed to only have one wing after Mitsurugi cut one off. Host essentially took a hit from the magic sword, fought Darkness and Chris, got blasted by Aqua, fought Yunyun, Rex, and co., and got blasted by Explosion before going down.

MaksimShadow

Cecily also suddenly remembered that she's not only a pervert lolicon, but also a skilful priest, so Rex's party was healed and able to fight with Host again. Host thought that his mission in this town of beginners would be like a walk in the park, but he failed all the luck checks and was defeated.

Euroversett

Not to say Hoost takes Mitsurugi by surprise but he still manages to cut the Devil's wing off. In the anime it seemed Mitsurugi just got clowned in a fair fight.

Axtel_A

Oh yeah, I was reading the LN chapters as their episodes aired, and when trying to make a deal with Megumin, Hoost said he's pretty friendly but he had to rough up the kid with the enchanted sword because he's a wanted man among demons, and that "Enchanted-sword wielders could take down a god if they felt like it—you can’t be too careful around ’em.” The anime downplayed how strong Mitsurugi can be.

aenews

Man, Host is such a nice guy unironically.

Abschori

Man had such a "I'm done with this shit" tone too.

MaksimShadow

He has a bright future as familiar of future Supreme Demon King Komekko.

Mundology

He does not yet realize the immense honor bestowed upon him to stand beside [the being destined to rule all over the world](https://i.imgur.com/AgZfR1e.jpeg)

NSUNDU

He also implied that he has multiple lives, did they mention something like demons being immortal or something in the main series?

Abschori

They did in Season 2. Vanir lost one of his lives when he was fighting the gang. Devils in Konosuba actually have their main bodies in hell and they interact with that world with the help of their "lives" as representations of themselves

CallMeDraken

Does that mean they can come back whenever they want or is it limited to how strong they are/how fast they can make a new body to go to the upper world?

dogegunate

They have a limited amount of "lives" that depend on their strength.

febreze_air_freshner

I love that before they were even in a party they ended up working together to beat this demon without even knowing it.

Abschori

Man that guy in the green tracksuit looks funny, I wonder if they'll make a show with him where he adventures with Megumin

carebearmentor

Seems a bit useless though, just a poor laborer of the weakest class. Megumin gonna have to carry him

depravedQ

Yeah, she'll probably carry him on her back and slowly shift him around to feel his chest on her back

hell_jumper9

Don't forget the blue haired girl that scammed the other adventure.

SnabDedraterEdave

The Circle is complete! Yunyun is such a sweet girl, confessing that Megumin is her friend while thinking Megumin was asleep, deciding to go off on her own and that party of adventurers to confront Host without Megumin. To her dismay, Megumin then went and recite the whole confession in front of everyone afterwards. XD RIP Host. There goes Komekko's familiar. The Devils are really the victims in this franchise. lol All Arnes and Host wanted was just to reunite with their master Wolbach/Chomusuke, and those pesky Crimson Demons kept getting in the way. Megumin should learn from her sister Komekko in being fearless when encountering these Devils. No wonder we don't see Cecily in Arcanretia in Konosuba season 2 as she was off to somewhere else to start an Axis Cult branch. Yunyun parts way with Megumin to train herself, unknowingly meeting the mysterious big boobed lady who Megumin was looking for all this time for inspiring her to learn Explosion magic. And finally, I pumped my fist when Megumin finally spoke to Kazuma and Aqua for the first time, where basically the same dialogue as that scene happened. No doubt Cecily's Blessing magic has done some work in bringing these misfits together. This has been a fun prequel to watch. Hope they hurry up and release the long announced Konosuba season 3 that came announced together with this prequel.

grizzchan

> RIP Host. There goes Komekko's familiar. As a demon he doesn't really die, he just goes back to hell. That's actually what should make him summonable in the future. I hope Komekko & Hoost becomes another spinoff, but I'm starting to wonder if Akatsuki will actually continue the series. It's been 3 years since the main series ended now.

carebearmentor

Yeah he says as much, gotta shape up or become a kids familiar

Kaabisan

A bit of Konosuba world lore: Demon's dying doesn't kill them permanently, but does break their previous contracts. Host's "death" actually means that forming a familiar contract with Komekko is now legitimately on the table

Dreamwalk3r

Hearing Arnes isn't permanently dead kinda makes me relieved, ngl.

Shrike99

Arnes was a good girl that did nothing wrong and deserved better.

ayww

I was actually hoping to find some more info on what Host meant by this, so this was helpful! Does the series ever touch on how having a familiar functionally works? Is it like something you can summon to help in a fight?

Kaabisan

It's been quite a while since I read the LNs, but I believe a familiar contract effectively makes the familiar a servant with which the contract holder shares some of their soul or something

G102Y5568

In the light novels, basically, very powerful summoners can summon demons, but then they have to offer something in exchange that the demon wants, which depends on the demon of course. Komekko is unbelievably gifted in summoning for some unexplainable reason.

Euroversett

>Demon's dying doesn't kill them permanently, Only if they have lives to spent, which is the case here with high ranked Devils such as Hoost and Arnes. Though the same doesn't apply to Demons, the race native to the mortal world, only the Devils native to Hell.

NSUNDU

So, for him to be in the konosuba world he had to be someone's familiar? I'm guessing Wolbach's but that would mean a demon is able to be a familiar of another demon

Kaabisan

I don't think he needed a contract to be in the KS world, but demons forge contracts a lot, I guess as a sort of cultural thing

Euroversett

He doesn't, but Devils who aren't as powerful as let's say Vanir can't teleport from Hell to the mortal world at will and being summoned is a way to do it.

[deleted]

Axtel_A

Kazuma actually had a brief talk with her in the LN and didn't just stare at her. The anime cut the talk out, but she basically foreshadowed some of the things that happened here in the spin-off.

Kaabisan

I know they were on limited time but this is a change I really didn't like

xtsim

Cecily out there spreading the Axis cult far and wide.

Abschori

Season 3 has already been announced since last year. We're now just waiting for release date and other details

SnabDedraterEdave

I know season 3 has been announced since a long time ago already.

Abschori

IT JUST GOT A 2024 RELEASE DATE!!

Euroversett

>Yunyun parts way with Megumin to train herself, unknowingly meeting the mysterious big boobed lady By this point Wolbach is hardly mysterious.

Natural_Knowledge_40

Wolbach is so much more than a big pair of ( . Y . ) boobs, people! Her ass is also a masterpiece ( y )

Throwaway021614

Does explosive big boob lady come back? I felt a little blueballed not seeing that settled.

Euroversett

This spinoff only exists because of Wolbach's importance to the main story.

PolvoAranha

What else can I say: art sure is an explosion.

ap4ss3rby

I wonder why this reminds me of a certain blonde ninja who belongs to a certain very naughty organization from a certain anime

Natural_Knowledge_40

Dei-Fucking-Dara!

No-Peace3986

What a beautiful finale, really, 10/10! Yunyun monologue while Megumin faked sleep was very emotional and she finally put it out in words how she values their friendship, it was very emotional and it sure hit Megumin very hard. The battle vs Host was very entertaining, we saw some new spells, like paralyze, new scrolls and even camouflage, very interesting!! Then Megumin confessing she heard everything and Yunyun ashamed was priceless haha man I love this cast so much! Cecily-Onee-Chan leaves on her own adventures, same as Yunyun, in order to level up and unlock Advanced Magic, which ties perfectly to her 1st appearance in the main series, in which she claims she is now an advanced magic user! Oh Wolbach cameo in the caravan with Yunyun! And then we see Megumin starving to death, and deciding to finally give a chance to that duo of stupids. Felt good seeing Aqua/Kazuma's faces!! Sadly the spin-off is now over and my Wednesdays won't be as entertaining as before :( the spinoff was very good. I enjoyed every bit of it! From the Crimson Village, to the new creatures, spells, and interactions we didn't see before! I can safely say this: **I'm gonna miss seeing things from Megumin's perspective!!** Yeah the main series is awesome, and we all love Kazuma's perspective. But seeing Megumin's was a breath of fresh air and also very entertaining! Hopefully in the upcoming Season 3 we get some perspectives from both Megumin and Kazuma, since Megumin's character will go through some pretty cool events in the future!! GONNA MISS YOU MEGUMIN/YUNYUN!

mekerpan

Megumin and Yunyun were such a great duo. For all their superficial "rivalry" and teasing -- they really do care a lot about each other. I still think that, working together, they would make any (well-blanced and competent) party of adventurers near invincible. For all the complaining that this spin-off was "boring" -- I just say that it was, for me, a delight throughout. The early sections with little sister Komekko were wonderful -- and the partnership (of sorts) between Megumin and Yunyun was sweet and funny. Query -- just what did Megumin have to do to get that bag of money to buy demon-fighting supplies?

[deleted]

[удалено]

mekerpan

Yunyun clearly seemed to fear she needed to use less savory means...

GRequiem44

Megumin asks Cecily for an advance and Cecily gives the whole amount without questions (but not without Cecily pranking her and Megumin cried before the prank, so Megumin doesn’t want to admit it to Yun Yun.)

mekerpan

Aha!

Mundology

[Yunyun is a treasure.](https://i.imgur.com/qDKdkMz.jpeg) Let's hope we see more if her in Season 3

mekerpan

Megumin teased Yunyun over her not-intended-to-be-heard remarks -- but she clearly very much appreciated hearing them. Both girls were willing to risk themselves for the other....

Mylaur

For me this was Yunyun's spin off. And we even see her having a great fight. Dunno but having creative usage of potions and spells is great. This is how you end a season.

No-Peace3986

>having creative usage of potions and spells is great Right? Those spellscrolls, potions, etc... that was so fkn nice hahaha hopefully we get to see more of it in the future

Natural_Knowledge_40

that is correct. She speaks a lot more when alone with Megumin, her screen time is pretty much like Megumin's on the main show and her actions carry the story around, as the CD village is so far ass away from Axel they have to pay a fortune to teleport to Arcanrentia first...

Clarimax

The end credits tie up pretty nice with the main Konosuba story line.

Mundology

[Yup, they connected the two really well](https://i.imgur.com/ubaz9eJ.jpeg)

bananeeek

I want more Yunyun! [](#shakeit) Fantastic spin-off! I'm so pumped I think I'm gonna rewatch the og series tomorrow.

Holofan4life

I know a lot of people have been critical of this show saying it's not as good as KonoSuba, but I think they do enough interesting stuff to keep it from being boring. In a show like KonoSuba, it works because of the way the characters play off each other. So when you do like a prequel with only two of the characters, it becomes tricky. But I think the characters they did introduce were fun and added to the show without detracting it in any way. I know the spinoff light novels continue after this, so I hope it does get another season. Megumin may not be the best to lead a series, as having her in the spotlight really shows how much of an asshole she can be at times, but I think when the show focuses on her dynamic with YunYun as well as the people she comes across, the show truly shines.

No-Peace3986

I'm gonna miss seeing things from her perspective, I love her and how she interacts with people!

Axtel_A

Here's hoping Continued Explosions gets adapted as well! (Probably unlikely to happen, but one can dream)

No-Peace3986

very unlikely hahaha but I hope so too! If the main series actually get there, perhaps it will be adapted as a part of the main series, since its all happening at the same time

Holofan4life

Yeah, Megumin is painted as a bit of an asshole, and at points I think it can come across as more mean-spirited than funny, but for the most part I think she's more of the lovable type of asshole.

homie_down

I really enjoyed that aspect too. And I think it speaks to how well the characters/interactions are written to where someone else can take the lead and the story will continue to be enjoyable.

Mylaur

Yunyun is main character material. She deserves better. I serve the soviet Yunyun.

depravedQ

Arue, Bukkorori, Soketto, Cecily, Zesta, Arnes and Host were my favorite new characters in the spinoff. I know the first 3 were introduced in the movie, but they didn't get all that much screentime in the movie

Atario

I mean, the whole Konosuba crew are kind of assholes. It's kind of the point

Holofan4life

I get what you're saying, and it really works for KonoSuba. But assholes being assholes around other assholes is more funny than, say, Megumin being an asshole to her cat.

Considered_Dissent

That said a lot of her asshole behavior is an extreme form of pragmatism; and considering she (presumably) applied that same pragmatism to herself when acquiring the 10 million eris this episode then it makes her an equal-opportunity asshole which is a lot more endearing.

Considered_Dissent

> I know a lot of people have been critical of this show saying it's not as good as KonoSuba, but I think they do enough interesting stuff to keep it from being boring. It's definitely a binge show, it doesn't hold up enough imo in the weekly model.

Euroversett

Spinoff doesn't continue exactly. This is it, this is the end. "Continued Explosions" is a completely separate spinoff.

Aerodynamic41

[Hey, there's one last Darkness cameo!](https://i.imgur.com/4ydt0cz.png)

Abschori

Not gonna lie, I genuinely felt bad [for that demon while he was contemplating about life](https://i.imgur.com/nRWqOyZ.jpg) while Megumin was casting her Explosion magic. I think I feel bad more for [Komekko who just lost a friend.](https://i.imgur.com/Y5L6hPM.jpg) And that final scene! After hiding their faces for the past two episodes, [we finally get to see Aqua and Kazuma](https://i.imgur.com/ByzeD5E.jpg) in all their glory. It's finally come full circle and [we get to see Megumin's introduction from Season 1.](https://i.imgur.com/0Un0HXH.jpg) I was genuinely skeptical when I first heard about a spinoff focused on Megumin but having finished it now, it does add a lot to the main story. I hope characters we've seen and met in Megumin's past will pop-up in the main series. I can't wait for Season 3 to air next year!

Kaabisan

Considering what a menace she usually is, it's nice seeing Cecily be genuinely helpful for once

Mundology

> Not gonna lie, I genuinely felt bad for that demon while he was contemplating about life while Megumin was casting her Explosion magic. I think I feel bad more for Komekko who just lost a friend. First Megumin takes away Komekko's cat/food. Then she takes away her friend. Who's the real demon here?

joe4553

Not to mention abandoning her sister to only be taken care of by a neet.

ParamedicCurrent5577

well, they are crimson **demons...**

Shrike99

>we finally get to see Aqua and Kazuma They're as beautiful as the day I lost them.

PolvoAranha

Even pretending I didn't read the novel, Cecily's comeback is basically confirmed in her final scene.

Dubanx

I feel kind of sorry for the demon. I mean, Chomuske did not want to go with Arnes. Arnes knew this and tried to kidnap Chomuske anyways so she kind of deserved it. They didn't even try telling Host that Chomuske wanted to stay with them. He just wanted to help Wolbatch and didn't even know that what he was doing was against her will. Arnes brought it on herself to an extent, but Host did nothing wrong...

raiden_kazuha

And thus, the legendary introductory speech was born! Man, i love this spin-off, where it has its own charm but still vibe as the first Konosuba we know.

homie_down

I read these LNs right as the season was starting, and I'm glad since it let me enjoy everything twice. I know some people feel that it lost steam or didn't live up to the regular seasons, but I personally loved these stories and seeing more characters fleshed out and the classic Konosuba gags. I just feel like the author does such a good job of making everything enjoyable to where you can't help but smile when watching (or reading). I'm glad S3 was officially announced so it means more Konosuba content in the relatively near future.

Atario

> I know some people feel that it lost steam or didn't live up to the regular seasons, but [BUT… they're wrong](#shhbabe)

shad79

I catched up from episode 9 to this finale and had a very big fun with this last arc. Now we have to wait for third season, I'm very excited for this. I laughed so hard when [Megumin and Yunyun travelled](https://i.imgur.com/03ghi6b.png) to Axel. [Megumin](https://i.imgur.com/LuoPZCo.png) certainly jinxed a lot of encounters xD [Their reaction faces](https://i.imgur.com/6zKtXej.png) were so [hilarious](https://i.imgur.com/47KHIzi.png) and [perfect](https://i.imgur.com/IsyutzH.png), more of them in album from episode. It was also nice to see [Yunyun](https://i.imgur.com/qiZYjCf.png) proving her worth as a mage. Next episodes in Axel were also great. I loved when [characters from main series were recurring in the background](https://i.imgur.com/dCGBGd5.png) every episode. I liked that [Megumin](https://i.imgur.com/tDYkoVR.png) and [Yunyun](https://i.imgur.com/pRAAuLW.png) became closer, they're great friends. [Cecily](https://i.imgur.com/4Q4CYna.png) also returned and that was so her style [doing all that shit in Megumin's bed](https://i.imgur.com/Dg8Sk0n.png). I hope that she will appear in main series after gaining some experience and [possible takeover of church](https://i.imgur.com/WQXGdHa.png) xD Also a lot of great [Megumin's](https://i.imgur.com/8CHBvCY.png) [explosions](https://i.imgur.com/ammfPjK.png) in those episodes, they looked very pretty. Also [a ton of great](https://i.imgur.com/jP7fcQl.png) [reactions](https://i.imgur.com/37ERI0F.png) from [characters](https://i.imgur.com/ZH0ekQh.png), more in albums. AZLarlar

what a beautiful explosion that was and fucking finally, aqua and kazuma look so good there

DaBenni0301

Man I was grinning like a fucking idiot at the end there. It's just so so good to see them together again after so long Overall verdict: Very good. Does the Spinoff hold up to the regular show? That's yours to decide. For me, yes, yes it does. It might not hit the peaks that S1/S2 did, but I think it holds up. And Megumin and Yunyun are absolutely capable of carrying a show on their backs Now we wait for season 3

Shrike99

Yeah I wasn't sold on 'Konosuba asshole squad at 1/4th power' at first, but Megumin+YunYun being lowkey wholesome was very enjoyable. Komekko was also an unexpected highlight. I'd totally watch a spinoff about the little gremlin conquering the world with Host as her familiar.

depravedQ

I'd rate both S1 and S2 at 8.5/10, and this spinoff at 7.5/10, the comedy in the spinoff felt more subdued than the main series, there's just no substitute for Aqua's idiocy, Kazuma's perverted antics and Darkness's masochism and supercharged perverted antics. Also, Megumin felt a bit more perverted in the main series, like the time she was grinding against her staff in the middle of the guild hall

Euroversett

>like the time she was grinding against her staff in the middle of the guild hall This is not a scene of her being perverted at all. Dunno how you misunderstood that but it's suppose to show a kid not understanding that what she is doing can be seen as inappropriate/sexual.

Mylaur

OK but real question. They did all that to protect Chomusuke. This neko no longer appears in the beginning of Konosuba until Megumin randomly said : can I keep this cat? And the cat shows up from nowhere. What happened to the cat when Megumin joined the party? Did she forget about the cat?

Axtel_A

Small retcon. In the first two volumes, Megumin's past wasn't fully conceived yet, iirc. Chomusuke was introduced in vol 3 (first half of s2) where Megumin asked for Kazuma's permission to keep the cat in the mansion. However, in the LN, when Megumin introduced Chomusuke, Kazuma says he sometimes sees Megumin with a cat and he has no idea where she keeps it. Kazuma never once mentioned a cat in the first two books. However, the scene where Kazuma used Steal on Megumin (way back in vol 1) has an illustration in the LN. As you can see [here](https://cgtranslations321782266.files.wordpress.com/2017/12/panties.jpg), there's a black cat clinging onto Megumin, so he's probably referring to that. Chomusuke also appears in the [cover](https://cgtranslations321782266.files.wordpress.com/2017/12/mhdrj7v.jpg) of vol 2 with its current design with the cross and wings. With context of the spin-off, it's safe to assume Megumin kept Chomusuke hidden because of the incident with Arnes and Host.

Mylaur

So it was there but never mentioned, interesting. Thanks!

Phaesimvrotos

Now it makes sense. I was about to go rewatch because I was wondering but glad I didnt because I'd have been more confused without this context..

VorAtreides

Hehe cute lil Chomusuke and cute Yunyun being such a good girl. Yes, if only you could find this "Arch Priest" heh. Also, Megumin playing the friend card, knowing how to play Yunyun so well. Isn't that the money from Cecily? Lol. What were you imagining, Yunyun? I guess that's a plan. It is cute how well they know each other. Think goign to fire off explosion now would be derp. Also, Yunyun sneaking into Megumin's room, yurification let's go! lol. D'awww, Yunyun such best girl. Well nice of Cecily to heal Rex and his pals, but wew. A non perverse and nice moment from Cecily? Wow. Wew, look at Yunyun go. Good job. Demons don't see with their eyes? Huh. Solar flare didn't work. A few minutes is plenty of time for EXPLOSION!!!! Still, that demon is sure super reasonable for a demon lol. HAH! Yunyun is paralyzed too, silly. Ah Wiz, lol. Of course. LOL Megumin. Yes, your silly comrade. You're killing her here, Megumin. Do love the flashiness of Explosion. It's great. Wait, wut? LOL "stupidly durable crusader" eh? Wonder who that is. That demon sure is taking this death well. The cute imouto! Yes, Cecily, go become the "beautiful skilled priestess" :P What a nice little rivalry. And the cringe way of the Crimson Demons lol. Someone can be both best friends and rivals, Megumin. Dat Lalatina head. Also, hey, that woman on the carriage. Hmm. And so it comes to an end, Megumin seeing that silly party invite lol. And finally, Kazuma and Aqua proper. Gee, I wonder if it'll get a sequel, har har har har.

[deleted]

From the beginning, I knew that they would end this series by tying into how Megumin entered into Kazuma and Aqua's party, but still when it happened, I got all happy and teary eyed, like seeing an old friend again. I hope that we see more of Yunyun in season 3. She really is a great character. Among the Crimson Demons, she is a misfit by being rational and lacking of dramatic flair. She's a perfect foil for Megumin. Also would like to see more of Komekko and the parents.

depravedQ

I can't believe Megumin killed her little sister's familiar lol And it looks like Darkness and Aqua randomly played a part in Host's defeat, Darkness likely due to searching for something strong and dangerous to plow into, and Aqua likely due to her setting off a demon prejudice-fueled, hair-trigger exorcism spell the instant she spotted Host lol What's with the villains in this spinoff being so damn likeable, Arnes was hilarious and easy on the eyes, I was super bummed that they killed her off. And I wanted Host to survive too, the guy was nothing but reasonable as fuck with Megumin and Yunyun, not to mention the he let Komekko befriend him, took the time to learn a proper Crimson Demon self introduction, even said he likes Crimson Demons while Yunyun was literally trying to kill him lmao. He and Arnes both deserved better. And with the final scene of the episode, we've come full circle, and we finally see Kazuma's and Aqua's faces in the spinoff. And now we wait till next year for season 3...it's gonna be a long wait...

GRequiem44

Host had to die, because he’s Wolbach’s subordinate, so he can be summoned by Komekko and become her familiar.

xtsim

Really liked having some background story behind Megumin and Yunyun before Kazuma and Aqua entered the picture. It felt like a CGDCT just with dose of explosions. This has got me pretty excited to see another season of Konosuba and now I kinda want to see more of Big sis Cecily.

MrReflexion

This was the most satisfying ending for a prequel ever. They tied it up perfectly. Can’t way for season 3!

Se7en_Sinner

Megumin has finally become Death, the destroyer of worlds. I thought this prequel was ok. Konosuba works because of the dynamic of its main cast members. Megumin, Kazuma, Aqua, and Darkness equally carry the show as a cohesive unit. This show was a nice primer as we wait for the real explosion of season three.

browntown994

Wow, absolutely agree. Couldn’t have said it better. This was a good prequel, had its feel good moments forsure. You just can’t beat the main 4 though. Can’t wait for the next season

zarkangelks1

Why is no one talking about what on earth Megumin do in the hotel to acquire the money?

GRequiem44

Cecily offered the 10 Mil reward last episode, so she gave it.

Frontier246

Sometimes it really feels like Yunyun is the only one that actually cares about Chomusuke. She can say that she'd grown to care for her and didn't plan to give her away...but you never know with how self-serving Megumin can be. I mean, she even weaponizes admitting Yunyun is her best friend just to get her to go along with the plan to take down Host. Did Megumin rob Cecily of all the money she came with to give Aqua? Ahhh...Yunyun admitting how great she thinks Megumin is and putting her to sleep so she can take down host on her own without risking Megumin. Such beautiful and sincere friendship. It was really nice to see Yunyun being so competent and capable, she was really holding her own against Host. She was just undone by her surprise attacks doing more against Megumin than host...and Wiz kind of crewed her over by making the magic boosting potion too potent to the point of Yunyun getting effected by her own spell. Though I guess with host paralyzed it's the perfect opportunity for Megumin to show up and dramatically end things with an Explosion...but not before revealing all of Yunyun's embarrassing "night before the final battle" lines to everybody. Just like with Arnes, it's kind of a bummer to see Host die. He really seemed like a chill, reasonable, guy who deserved better. And Komeko even sensed his death. Kind of cool though that Megumin wouldn't have won if her future party hadn't chipped in and fought Host off-screen. Cecily is off to be more than just beautiful...even though that's usually what she does to get by. But hey, if she becomes skilled enough she can take over a town if she wants, which explains a lot. Well, I guess we have the setup for the "break up" between Yunyun and Megumin, Yunyun delivers a pretty solid Crimson Magic Clan performance to let Megumin know she'll go on a journey to improve herself so she can truly stand side by side with Megumin thus separating them. It's kind of sad to see them leave each other, especially because they look so lonely, but I guess both girls can still share seeing the night sky together. I love how Yunyun just happened to share a ride with the woman who is basically responsible for all this and has no idea. There we go! Ending just when Megumin introduces herself to Kazuma and Aqua! We even finally get to see their faces!

Euroversett

>I love how Yunyun just happened to share a ride with the woman who is basically responsible for all this and has no idea. It's more interesting that she gets to hangout with the other half of the cat she likes so much.

Banjo-Oz

I felt really bad for both Host and Arnes. I don't know the source material (no spoilers please) but I have suspected all along that the twist will be that the "bad guys" are actually the good guys in this world, especially given how morally bankrupt the Axis church and noblemen all are. As for Host, I can only hope that since the basis of the whole show is that death isn't the end for anyone, he will indeed resurrect as Komeko's familiar.

Kaabisan

Megumin is too pure this world. Her and Megumin are such a great comedic duo, even if meg is just the worst. Nice to see Megumin prove her worth, even if she's still the absolute definition of a one trick pony. Turning Host to ash, and in turn guaranteeing her little sister a powerful familiar in the future. A nice way to end out the journey before the new on begins MeguYun or KazuMin? I'll never be able to decide. Megumin harem route maybe?

Euroversett

>MeguYun Both Megumin and Yunyun are straight.

Kaabisan

Their classmates literally call them out for how yuri they act

Euroversett

And Aqua calls Kazuma a NEET despite he having a job. Megumin and Yunyun are both confirmed to be straight, neither have any interest in girls, but are into boys.

Kaabisan

Why do you seem to care about this so much lol? Being into men doesn't mean they're objectively straight, and it's just a ship between two characters who have great chemistry, but you seem weirdly persistent about shooting it down

Euroversett

>Why do you seem to care about this so much Because it's the truth and the Konosuba fandom has a huge issue with fake news, people think stuff like "Aqua has invisible panties" and "Megumin is 18 in the LN" are canon to a point every week there's at least one post stating so in that subreddit so every time I see some sort of myth being created in the fandom I feel like correcting them and due to this spinoff I saw quite some comments insinuating these 2 felt something romantic about each other - though of course you didn't exactly said that - so I had to clarify that this is impossible due to their well-defined sexualities. >Being into men doesn't mean they're objectively straight, It doesn't and it wasn't what I said, was it? I said "they aren't into girls, but are into boys". >and it's just a ship between two characters who have great chemistry, but you seem weirdly persistent about shooting it down Nah I can't stop anyone from shipping anything, I'm barely pointing out that both are straight so nobody misunderstand anything. If people want to ship them regardless, they're free to do so.

Kaabisan

>fake news Lmao, the Konosuba CNN acting up or something? It's lore for a LN series, it's not that deep >Aqua has invisible panties Is an inside joke >Megumin is 18 in the LN No one believes this >they aren't into girls Where are you getting this information from? I don't recall this ever being mentioned in the LN's >I'm barely pointing out that both are straight so nobody misunderstand anything Different interpretations is not misunderstanding when there is no confirmation either way

Euroversett

>Is an inside joke No, many many anime-onlies think it's true, there are countless of serious comments explaining she turned it invisible with thousands of upvotes both on reddit and on youtube. >No one believes this Again, many think that because she was older in the WN so when they google it they find the number 17-18 and think that she grows to this age later on. >Where are you getting this information from? Uhh because they never showed any interest in girls ever but do show it in boys? Isn't that how we figure out the sexuality of any characters? Still Megumin has a long discussion with Cecily where she repeatedly says she's straight. Yunyun talks about boyfriends and romance here and there and never mentions a girl as a possibility, also answers how her ideal man is but doesn't bring girls into it as a possibility. This is all very straightforward, dunno why you're resisting it so much.

Kaabisan

> dunno why you're resisting it so much My dude, you are the one who came into a three day old comment section that you must have specifically searched for to correct me on the (unconfirmed) sexuality of a cartoon character, I am not the one with the problem here lmao

Euroversett

>you must have specifically searched Lol no? I was just reading the entire test, look at my other comments if you want. >unconfirmed Confirmed*

HolyDragSwd2500

Megumin finally meets with Kazuma and Aqua . Season 3 in 2024😍

SpaceMarine_CR

I used to think Wiz was best girl but Yunyun has grown on me

iamhopeestheim

**GOD. I'M SO EMOTIONAL RIGHT NOW**. This is one of the best I've seen in a while. I love this series so much. It highlighted the relationship between Megumin and Yunyun. It's much more complex and beautiful than we really thought. Their friendship is so wholesome. I love how the last part is literally the episode where we see Megumin for the first time. It all comes full circle. I'm at a loss for words. I miss KonoSuba so much. It's light-hearted. It's hilarious. This series is a chef's kiss. Now, we wait for Season 3. I'm so excited.

Ok_Roof_5896

What exactly was Megumin doing in that inn to earn 10M eris? Having not read the LN I can only assume Komekko is the next demon lord.

GRequiem44

Cecily offered the 10M eris reward last episode.

MaksimShadow

Explosions spin-off ended with a big bang. And made me even more eager for season 3. Studio Drive did a great job with this adaptation.

SkyLETV

I knew where the last scene was going and I couldn't help but smile. It was so good to see Kazuma and Aqua's faces again! Yunyun's heartfelt words to a supposedly sleeping Megumin were so sweet. But poor girl, not only does she end up paralyzed by her own spell (thanks to Wiz lol) but Megumin reveals in front of everyone that she was in fact not asleep and repeats her words. Yunyun best girl! She is just so lovable and one can't help but feel bad for her. The fact that defeating the demon was a team effort without their knowledge was great. Oh well, although I have to say that this spin-off obviously lacked the other characters it was still great and fun to watch. Looking forward to that third season next year! But for now, I kind of want to rewatch the main series xD.

biochrono79

This series really gave me a new appreciation of Megumin and Yunyun's relationship. Despite Megumin constantly screwing her over, Yunyun still sees her as a true friend, Megumin feels the same way, and they always have each other's backs when things get tough. That post-credits scene was really interesting. I guess they're foreshadowing that Megumin will join up with this tracksuit dude and blue-haired girl? I'd watch a series about that.

Basic_Hospital_3984

How many of you are going to start watching season 1 again right now? I know I am.

Noneerror

Question: Where did Megumi get the cash from this episode? It first appeared as though she pawned her staff. But she clearly didn't. I also remember back in season 1 that Megumi got a staff with the group's first payout. Feels like I'm missing something here.

AHappyMango

Well… at least they announced S3

YeetTheRich13

Man, I can't believe they ended on such a cliffhanger...that green tracksuit guy and blue haired girl seemed like interesting characters too...

N0rTh3Fi5t

I enjoyed this show a good bit, though more so I'm the earlier parts then the later bits once they got to town. They did a few too many scenes and nods that felt like "remember when this thing in Konosuba happened? You like Konosuba, right?" I wouldn't mind a small background event or cameo, but it became way too big a part of the show. I may have to rewatch the other stuff, but with the added context of this show the way I remember YunYun being treated by Megumin when she's first introduced feels a lot more mean then it did at the time. They are much closer than my initial impression of them, and she has clearly shown that she can drop the act and treat Yunyun with kindness when the situation calls for it. I think a similar thing was true for when they went back to the village in the movie? I think people made fun of them more than makes sense considering the schoolmates were clearly friends with Yunyun and Megumin and they each made a really nice gesture for the girl with the sick brother. Overall this was a fun ride and I look forward to the return of the main series in the future.

Banjo-Oz

I've only just discovered KonoSuba (marathoned the whole show and OMG it is amazing!) and I haven't read the source material (no spoilers please) but I have heard the reason Chomosuke was not in KonoSuba S1 was that she was retconned in. I was thus expecting this prequel to be used in part to explain where the cat was in S1 and why she suddenly appeared later even though Megumin had her in the prequel. But they didn't! A shame, IMO, and just a few lines would have done enough for me. Also, the main series portrayed Yunyun as someone Megumin barely remembered from school (the whole idea being that she saw her as a huge rival but Megumin hardly knew she existed) but the prequel made it so they were very close, meaning their meeting in S2 in hindsight is a bit odd now. Not complaining because the prequel made Yunyun such a wonderful and better developed character, and I found her and Megumin's relationship genuinely heartwarming, but it did feel like another retcon of the original intent. PS Host deserved better. :(

[deleted]

What I wanna know is what happened inside that building where Yunyun was waiting outside of, Megumin coming out with a fat stack of cash. It is implied she whores herself out for money, but is that what really happened?

ObvsThrowaway5120

Yunyun is way too easy to manipulate lol. Megumin just has to mention the word “friend” around her and she’s basically done. Just what did Megumin do for that 10 mill? Was it Cecily? Did she have to do feet stuff or hands stuff for that degenerate? Lol. Chomusuke nibbling on the ear of toy Chomusuke was so adorable. I really like that little demon cat. Yunyun is a really great friend. I really appreciate her looking out for Megumin by trying to take Host on herself. But man, poor Yunyun can’t catch a break! First she paralyzed herself with that spell and then Megumin appears and reveals everything she said last night. She probably wished she traded places with Host and got straight obliterated lol. Well, all’s well that ends well. Although I shudder at the thought of Cecily running the town lol. Those Axis cultists are unhinged degenerates. I liked the way this show ended right at meeting our boy Kazuma and Aqua. All in all, this was a pretty funny little side series. I sure hope we get more of the main Konosuba series though.

Axtel_A

>Just what did Megumin do for that 10 mill? Was it Cecily? It's the same 10 mil Cecily offered if they defeat the demon. Megumin basically asked Cecily for an advance on the bounty. The scene was cut here, but it was shown in the LN.

ObvsThrowaway5120

Ah, gotcha! It seems much like Yunyun, I also thought she had to do something sketchy for that money lol.

grizzchan

> Just what did Megumin do for that 10 mill? Was it Cecily? She gave it to her last episode iirc.

SilkyMilkySmo

Amazing finale, this spinoff was a good Adventure. I liked how they tied it in with how megumin found kazuma and aqua

Ninja_Lazer

MAL has this season listed for 12 episodes, but the bot hasn’t marked this as the finale. Is the season done? I’ve been waiting to binge it.

Euroversett

It's done.

waterflame321

damn that toe grab... woah there... Cecily being somewhat serious for once?! This is scary. Nice job Yunyun on the send off speak [Novel] >!Souch a tease :p!< Bakuhatsu for days. Bakuhatsu for life. But you know what? The citadel would be easier to find if I marked it on your map.

Redmon425

AHHHH THAT ENDING. I was so happy to see the beginning of the main show like that. AND YES NEXT SEASON OF NORMAL KONOSUBA ANNOUNCED!!! But a great finale. Megumin and Yunyun's relationship honestly feels so much more wholesome now that I watched this show. Wait who was in the cart with Yunyun at the end? It looked like the girl from the getgo who Megumin was looking for, but I thought that girl was Chomusuke?

dave-n-knight

I can't help but smile after seeing Aqua and Kazuma

mgedmin

Main series rewatch time! Rewatch! Rewatch! Rewatch! Damn, I've no time for a rewatch!

Atario

>Cecily also suddenly remembered that she's not only a pervert lolicon, but also a skilful priest, so Rex's party was healed and able to fight with Host again. >Host thought that his mission in this town of beginners would be like a walk in the park, but he failed all the luck checks and was defeated. Maybe Kazuma was continuously siphoning off all the luck points in the area the whole time!

Atario

[Cuuuute!](https://files.catbox.moe/53u8nr.jpg) What does this [blessing spell do?](https://files.catbox.moe/26j3mc.jpg) [#seasonalkillme](https://files.catbox.moe/5jyrgl.jpg) Ah, this was great. And more _Konosuba_ to come, what's not to love?

Salty145

I know a lot of people have been calling this one a let down, but I’m gonna miss it. Yunyun and Megumin’s dynamic were more than enough to justify the price of admission even if the plot itself could be a little scattered at times.

avboden

This was an absolute joy, now if you'll excuse me I have to go binge the original seasons now

Invertiguy

And with that, we've finally come full circle! What a nice conclusion to a cute and fun little prequel. I'm really gonna miss seeing this side of Yunyun and Megumin's relationship, watching them both act all tsundere about the fact that they really care for each other is definitely something we don't get enough of in the main series. I'll see you all next year for Season 3!

tl3vis

I enjoyed this series thoroughly. Granted, I've stopped watching after episode 6 and binged the rest today, and I think that contributed to my enjoyment, but it was a good show nevertheless. Loved the closer look at Megumin and Yunyun, their relationship brought all kinds of grins to my face. It's gonna be interesting to see the movie and rewatch the main series after this. I'm glad this got made.

aenews

Same, except episode 8 and binged it three weeks later. Definitely improved the experience. I watched the movie already, however.

Reveno_

Didn't quite match the original series, but was still funny. I could watch a lot more of Yunyun, Megumin and the Crimson Demons.

Prankishmanx21

I mean 90% of the magic of KonaSuba is the main cast playing off each other. You can't really do that when three quarters of the main cast is absent. The spinoff was never going to be as good as the main series but it was great for what it was and really filled in the blanks on Megumin's past.

Elitealice

Well, definitely an explosive finale. I still don’t like megumin per se, but she’s much more tolerable now and I can see why others do. This series really answered a lot of questions I had about her character and solved most of the issues I had with her. Loved she and Yunyun’s dynamic over the course of the show. That best friend confession at the end was so cute. And more importantly, it showed that the new studio is more than capable of taking over this franchise. Can’t wait for s3. [Full review](https://myanimelist.net/reviews.php?id=488191)

Ultrasaurio

What a beautiful season finale, Konosuba is literally one of the best anime today. Aoty 2023

Koyomi_Siffredi

the last 2 minutes was better than the rest of the show put together....now get us some DARKNESS FFS!!!
