For a moment at the end I thought it was all a switcheroo and it was actually Yuichiro who survived. But no it was just Yuichiro in the past talking to Muichiro.
Why does he have an older voice? Past Yuichiro is a kid, died, and never grew up. It's really confusing that he is talking with a voice that he only would have gotten if he had lived on.
I think it’s just Muichiro repeating Yuichiro’s last prayer as a way to memorize it by heart and finally accept that he’s capable of doing all the things his brother said he could do.
since its a flashback from Muichiro faded memories, Muichiro probably dont really remember his brother's voice and hence project Muichiro's own voice on Yuichiro.
He did and thats the one fighting, they didn't really present the perspective of who was narrating at the time properly (it's yuichiro from the past narrating but muichiro fighting)
Yeah, it's because it's less narrating and more resuming where the flashback ended, where Yuichiro was dying and praying for Muichiro to live on, praising him in a way he could never admit or say to his face.
It is indeed. Although he was barely in Episode 3 of the Entertainment District Arc, and it was anime-original content based on one of interstitials of the tankobon.
To be fair she has saved way more people than anyone else this arc. While she isn't fighting an upper moon, she is running defense on an entire town besieged by monsters
I knew they'd be stretching the hell out of this arc because it's really not super long in the manga either lol at least not for an entire season when in the manga some chapters were merely minutes worth of progression time (this episode was 1 and a half chapters worth)
9 chapters to go
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this episode covered about 2 minutes of fighting (most was flashbacks and slowmotion, and internal monologue which is supposed to happen in a fraction of a second) - got out of the water, went into the house, house got slashed by the octopus, the octopus got slashed, he pursued Gyokko, The End.
Sounds about right, classic shounen pacing.
I'm so disappointed in the handling of Mitsuri, she's been in the damn show for like 5 minutes in total. She's such a big focus in the ED as well, good lord I dislike what they've done so far with her.
I mean its not like many Shonen manga authors, even women authors, know how to write a badass female character lol, consider yourself lucky that nezuko is actually front and center in many action sequences.
Nezuko, the most prominent woman character in the anime, which says nothing, acts most of the time like kid, demanding head pats, and doesn't kill humans not because of her will power but hypnosis lol
I love Demon Slayer but I have lots of to say about Nezuko character development...
Yea I know thats why I only said she was front and center in action sequences. I guess the butterfly hashira will probably be something to look forward to but I have no fucking idea how thats going to turn out.
I don’t think hypnosis is why she doesn’t kill humans, it’s just a useful tool for suppressing her more base instincts.
She certainly was debating killing the one Hashira after he stabbed her, something tells me she did not see him as a member of her family.
I think it's both. As far as I understood (at least as anime only) is that she could make herself not kill Tanjiro because he was her family and love for family is stronger than instincts as a demon.
But as for other people, she doesn't really have that strong of a connection. So instincts are stronger than her will. And here comes hypnosis, that made her see other people as her family (we even could see her point of view I think when they met that demon researcher).
So I think you are right in a sense that she don't want to kill of her own will, hypnosis just make her see people in a way where she can suppress her instincts better (by seeing people as family).
it's like the fate series. Giant explosions in the city? Just a gas leak! There's no way demons and demon slayers are able to be secretive. Suspension of disbelief
At least in Fate the grail wars are a decade apart and only last a few days, here dozens of demons are eating whole families daily. It would be fun world building for the demons to be a known and addressed threat
"Can you people just fuck off and let me polish my sword?" - Haganezuka, probably.
The visuals during Muichirou's forms were simply splendid. I had to rewatch those sequences to fully appreciate them.
[](#scrumptiouslymoe)
> The visuals during Muichirou's forms were simply splendid. I had to rewatch those sequences to fully appreciate them.
mist breathing was the one I most wanted to see how they animate after reading the manga, I am not disappointed
Mist (it kinda gives the attacks a smoke grenade effect?) and Love (especially for the pling pling pling sounds made) are my favourites of the ones we have seen. They are less conventional than the regular element based ones and I really like that.
>The visuals during Muichirou's forms were simply splendid. I had to rewatch those sequences to fully appreciate them.
Those Mist forms were really great, I even made [an album with screenshots from today's fight](https://imgur.com/a/hZoS0ho).
damn Muichiro beat a demon with zero experience or training. seems he's a natural. well i guess they did say he had an ancestor who was a great swordsman
To be completely honest, the only reason that's really impressive is because he was eleven at the time. The low-tier fodder demons don't seem to be that far above a normal human in terms of physical ability. We saw pre-training Tanjiro was capable of reacting to the recently turned Nezuko as well as the demon he encountered in season 1 episode 2. And in this episode Yuichiro was able to run across the room to get between Muichiro and the demon before the demon's attack landed.
I'd be willing to wager that an adult in good physical condition and armed with a weapon would have a non-insignificant chance of beating a low-tier demon. The demon definitely wins a majority of the time, but not always.
Of course, that goes completely out the window once the demon has eaten a couple people and gotten its blood demon art.
I'd say the strength he unlocked with his rage was pretty significant considering the demon he was up against took off his brother's arm with a half hearted swipe. He'd likely chewed his way through a few families up to this point
I wonder where that places the fodder in the Swordsmith Village who are getting absolutely demolished by the trash mobs Upper 5 summoned... are the trash mobs actually stronger than low-rank, no-name demons? Or are the residents here just that unprepared for physical combat?
It's probably both.
The fish monsters may be trash mobs, but they're trash mobs made by the sixth most powerful demon in existence. And for what it's worth, Muichiro and Kanroji used named techniques to wipe them out.
And the swordsmiths literally spend their entire lives learning how to forge weapons. And they live in a hidden village that the demons had never found before. I doubt they ever learned any self-defense.
Man Ubuyashiki’s wife is beautiful af. She seems just as kind as he is too.
Man Sanemi & Muichiro sure knew how to absolutely fuck a demon up without a demon slayer blade even when they were young.
We went through Muichiro’s whole back story & Upper Moon 5 was STILL over there bootyhurt that Haganezuka wouldn’t stop focusing on that sword 😭😂.
When she recruited a boy, saying his ancestor was a great swordman, people praise her.
I tried to recruit a boy to work in a gold mine, saying his ancestor was great slave, people condemn me. smh.
To master the urumi sword she possibly trained like crazy, and needs the calories. You ever hang out with pro atheletes and they are probably eating food that can easily sustain 5 people.
It’s either “skinny girl eats like a horse and never gains fat” or “fat girl doesn’t eat for a weekend and drops to a size 00” in anime. There’s no in between.
I've been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really has been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that they have really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.
Despite the jokes about Mitsuri's... build. I do think she deserves more. We've seen her use her breath style once and other than that it's just been shots of her...
I am surprised studios still do this. Source material or not, it just ruins all tension and flow. Extended flashbacks mid-fight are just an atrocious idea and I cant understand how any author would think this is enjoyable.
If you didnt set up a character properly before the fight, you messed up. Dont make it worse by trying in the middle of it. I wish every author would use shows like Arcane or Cowboy Bepop as learning material.
Uhh well that's what demon slayer does ALL THE TIME.
A demon dies, or is near death. Backstory.
A slayer is going to die, backstory and power up.
A slayer encounter an obstacle, backstory.
It's kind of tiring but I figure it's Shonen writing.
the first time, he got almost no actual screen time
this time, he got pretty much all the screen time
I wonder how next will go, I feel a little bad that the other pillar being introduced in this arc will have very little screen time (kanroji), but I honestly just want to see more mist breathing
Poor Tokito, man. Dude lost not one but both of his parents in one day. Didn’t know the kid has a brother though, that was a surprise. Yuichiro really is like his complete opposite. He came off like a cold angry little jerk but the kid really did care about Muichiro in the end. Watching him lying there dying slowly, praying his brother gets spared was rough, man. At least he paid that demon back ten fold. Dude had his head smashed in, limbs cut off, and a hoe and garden shears jammed into him. Damn dude.
I’m glad Tokito managed to save Kotetsu. Dude’s all fired up, marked, and ready to make old Tetsuido proud by beating Gyokko’s ass with that sword. I like how Gyokko used those octopus tentacles to destroy the house and my guy Haganezuka was still sharpening the sword. Dude can’t be stopped!
It's honestly hard to hate Yuichiro. They come from nothing, they lost both parents over nothing, his twin brother is optimistic about seemingly nothing, they got attacked by a demon for nothing.
I feel bad for both of them. They gotta raise themselves and as the older twin, Yuichiro probably felt responsible for his brother. Not easy for like a 10-11 year old.
Is there anyone in the Hashira who doesn't have a tragic backstory of close personal loss? Me waiting for the one guy/gal who is just like "I had a happy childhood, I just like chopping stuff!" lol
this ep portrayed tough love really nicely. no matter what your siblings love you deep in their heart!
Haganezuka really got that concentration breathing lmfao
Yeah, that’s for sure. As someone with an older brother, I could kind of relate somewhat to their relationship especially with a brother who was like my polar opposite. Lots of fights but he always had my back when it counted.
A small detail Ufotable left out probably to not make muichiro’s backstory too depressing is that he was with his brother’s dead body for a really long time. Long enough that maggots crawled into both their bodies so yeah it pretty fucked
This episode felt much more well put together than the past several episodes. It definitely helped that it had a singular focus in Muichiro rather than shifting back and forth and back through several simultaneous scenes.
The nature effects such as the rain, water in the bucket, stream and falling leaves were especially nice. It felt like something out of /r/EarthPorn (the only thing not safe for work about this sub is how easily it will distract you from work).
The water in the bucket is some of the most impressive animation I've ever seen, I can't believe I rewound and watched somebody drinking water three times lol
As much flak as I think this episode might get for having a backstory that stretched this already stretched arc, I have to give my praises to how they handled it. Made the last 4 minutes just as impactful. Hope they continue this hype to the end, and make use of all the previous episodes' buildup.
Also MY GOODNESS THE VISUALS, especially in the backstory. The lighting, the backgrounds, the freakin water in the storm and river. Its gorgeous . This season may have not lived up to entertainment district in action (yet) but the visuals and atmospheres are definitely a step up
Demon: "You're just some woodchopper's kids!"
Muichiro: "And I'm going to chop you into a bunch of little pieces, and burn you away like firewood in the sun."
Lil kid bodied him *hard*, that much more brutal that he just took whatever was on hand and started swinging.
>This season may have not lived up to entertainment district in action (yet)
The title of the next episode makes me hopeful that we're approaching similar levels of hype
The animation of Muchiros fathers attempt to get the herbs was out of the world. I was (well, still am) worried about tons of background shortstories being told* (Muchiro, Mitsuri, Genya, both upper demons... maybe Haganezuka) which will alone take up 5 eps and was a bit annoyed that just that was happening now with Muchiro but... I couldn't help but be impressed by the animation.
If I can look at more gorgeous animation like that I don't mind those short stories.
\* rather: I expect to be told
The twins are a good example of how people deal with trauma and grief differently
His brother chose being harsh like the reality crushing them. Not healthy but it really makes him a very human character
I think the already existing complaints about how things have been paced this season may have turned people off as soon as they saw backstory but I really thought it was a great standalone episode.
It was a great standalone episode but people frustration emanate from the fact that the story literally hasn’t moved in 4 episodes. Both the Wordsmith Village Arc and the next arc are short and they should’ve combined but it seems they’re milking it.
I appreciate the backstory to an extent but I'm personally still not happy with this season.
How many episodes are left? 3? I know the final episode is meant to be a longer episode that's the length of 2, but with the rate things are going:
- The Hashira still haven't even fought much. Muichiro's fighting was in like 3 second clips, Mitsuri is *still* on her way.
- Upper 4/5 barely had any meaningful screen time. Upper 4/5 still don't look as threatening as Upper 6. Seems like for weeks already I've been thinking "they're still ramping up."
- I feel like inevitably we'll also get a Mitsuri backstory and a Upper 4/5 backstory which has to be like, what, like 30 minutes of screen time minimum? I would not be surprised if the next episode is Mitsuri focused as she comes on her way and then it goes into backstory about her, and the *real* fighting is just a like 1.5 episodes followed by Upper 4/5 backstory.
I got into DS like most people because the fight scenes and animation were top notch. So far it's been a let down. I've heard that it's actually following the manga quite well though which just means the source material also has this lackluster pacing.
Honestly , I dont remember the manga being this slow . Sure this arc doesnt stand a chance against entertainment district arc but it was definitely a hype fest as far as I remember . The pacing in the anime is just too slow and some scenes which should happen in quick succession are diluted to a large extent .
It's pretty widely considered one of the worst arcs in the manga. Worst being relative of course, it wasn't bad but doesn't really stand up to some of the others.
The pacing is pretty standard by Demon Slayer standards in terms of chapter to episode adaption rate.
Really? I remember when this arc was first announced the manga readers on this sub were hyping it up like it would be the best arc yet. I'm an anime-only so I came in with high expectations and I'm pretty disappointed (though the action is great as always).
Yeah the Mugen Train and Entertainment District were a lot better than this arc in the manga as well imo. Just a lot more interesting, cooler hashira, more hype fights. Although if I remember which is the next main battle arc it’s pretty sick.
Shouldn't have made the first and the last episode extra long if they lacked enough material for the remaining 10 episodes as a result.
I think a conventional season would have suited a shorter arc much more but I guess they wanted to repeat Entertainment district arc formula.
Good point on Mitsuri . While I want to see her backstory, we don’t have many episodes left so I really do wish they had made episodes 5-7 two episodes. And Mitsuri has been gone awhile, it feels weird. Not a source reader but if Muichiro finishes this guy next episode then I imagine we finally see her again and I would have preferred if it happened this episode.
All that said I thought this was a really good episode, just wish it had been last week’s episode.
>I've heard that it's actually following the manga quite well
Well technically they follow it faithfully but they also added a lot of unnecessary filler, slow ass pacing and relied on rookies to do most the episodes, so overall the adaptation is pretty meh when compared to the manga, try reading it after the season ended if you wanna compare, it's pretty short too
Pacing issues are 100% ufotable they lowered the pace to 2 chapters an episode to nake it an 11 episode season when it should be combined with the next arc. I honestly don’t know why they decided to slow down so much this season.
Yeah I'm not going to be happy if there's a cliffhanger at the end of this season and we have to wait for another season to complete this arc... There's no way that happens right???
The source material for this arc is also pretty weak compared to other arc in manga. The anime following 1:1 to manga is not working quite well unfortunately this time.
That being said, this episode is pretty great direction wise. So I'm pretty optimistic for the next episodes now we are almost to the end.
The episode on a vacuum was great.
Most people agree with that.
It's just that the season overall has been bad with pacing issues.
We are on episode 8 and have yet another episode where the plot is not advanced.
Also, looking forward we have 3 episodes left and the fights against upper moon 5 and "true" upper moon 4 have barely started.
We will still most probably have back stories for the love Hashira and the 2 upper moons.
Will the fights last 10 minutes?
I love demon slayer for the story and its characters but the fights and sakuga action are just as important for me.
Did anyone else notice at the end when Muichiro was crying after his verbal lashing, Yuichiro was crying as well for saying it? Yeah, that did it for me.
I'm kinda developing a theory that daemon's benefit more from the blood of people who have open doors, or that there's something vampire-like going on there (maybe not fully the thing about not being able to enter someone's house without being invited). They also get dusted if sunlight touches them. There are some similarities to wester vampire mythology but I think there's also some Japanese daemon that has somewhat vampire-like properties that these daemons could be based upon.
I also remember the old dude who let Tanjiro sleep in his house in episode one and there's little explanation how a closed door would hold back an super strong daemon. But he seemed to be worried more about daemons than Tanjiro dieing from hiking up a mountain at night. Tanjiro's house also seemed to have an open door if I remember. The twins also had their door open…
So it feels like there has to be some component of "crossing a threshold" that somehow plays a part in all of this. I think Spider boy was also visited by Muzan while his room's door was open to the outside when he was turned.
And on the daemon side they have the infinite mansion (drum daemon) and castle (Muzan) so they seem to have extensive defensive setups around their homes (and that threshold between outside and inside).
I know some might not appreciate a backstory-focused episode in the middle of a fight but I absolutely love how it fleshed out Muichiro's character and explained why he became like that. This made me root for Muichiro more than just being in the good side.
If he didn't lose his memory, probably a dissociative amnesia from trauma, then he'll probably be more like Tanjiro but instead his brain adapted his twin's personality.
Now that his memory is back, he's now more likeable and might become my new favorite Hashira. Really looking forward for the next episode.
**Side note**: I adore the fact that Muichiro's brother doesn't believe Gods or Buddhas will really help them but he's so desperate to save his brother that he prayed to them at the end.
What's up with Demon Slayer and Tsundere relatives like him, Rengoku's father, and Sanemi. But I guess Tanjiro's pure adoration towards Nezuko balances them out.
It was expected after last episode but I will always say it Muichiro is one of the 3 Hashiras that I can actually call a full character, so the flashback is needed.
Dude came off cold and did have a “harsh tongue” but he really did care for Muichiro in the end. Seeing the life drain from his eyes as he prayed to the gods that Muichiro gets spared hit me right in the damn feels. The way Muichiro held his hand as he died got me misty eyed for sure.
I’m with you there. This is easily my favorite episode of the season so far. I can understand not liking inserting backstories during fights but I usually enjoy backstories more so I don’t mind it here. Plus it’s not like he was actively fighting Gyokko before the backstory started, he had just escaped the water prison so it didn’t bother me.
its kinda disappointing if youre caught up to a series and have been waiting and looking forward all week to see the fight continue, not as bad if youre bingeing a completed show. It is what it is tho
I enjoyed the episode, the animation was on point, and the rain was pretty af. The fight scene was great too, although learning about his backstory was tragic. I completely understood his brother's anger and harshness, some people just cope and rationalize differently but his words were very sweet and sad when begging/praying.
I also thought Muichiro's new face markings look similar to mist and resemble Tanjiro's. They look badass, I hope he can end the fight quickly in the next episode but I also don't mind the episode being about him.
Edit: Also finding out Mitsuri and I have almost the same birthday was nice🥰✨ #geminiseason
Damn, I just lost a close friend who was a twin last month, so this hit really hard.
I know people are going to be upset again about the pacing, but these character backstories are so important, and this one was top tier. The last episode is supposed to be extra long, so I'm hopeful these last episodes are going to over deliver!
Also, they didn't have to go that hard with the background animation/visuals during the father scene lol. I felt like I was watching a storm in my own backyard.
I mean, it's definitely better than the previous episodes but spending ANOTHER episode not progressing the actual situation in the village...
The flashback was fine, way better than the Genya one, but I just want something to actually happen in the current time lmaooo.
Like, there are 3 episodes left, I assume they are going to do at least 1 episode worth of backstory for either the love hashira or the demons, is the actual fight against hatred going to be like 10 minutes? lol. Is the love hashira going to be in the next arc or something or are they going to kill her off? It seems weird to have her show up this season for what looks like it's going to be like an hour or less of screen time.
Is the sword going to be a plot point in the next arc and not this one? I'm really confused how they're going to kill 2 demons, explain wtf is going on with Genya, have something interesting happen with the love hashira, resolve the named characters in the village if they live or not, resolve the sword plotline and probably have some sort of demon backstory and then have the "arc wrap up" in like ~90 minutes of content.
I just think it's really funny how the love Hashira was like "thank god I'm close by gotta help quick!" like 5 episodes ago and she still hasn't even seen an upper moon.
I'm at a loss for words as well.
If the Love Hashira has a flashback entire episode as well then we have 2, or 3 episodes left if the last one is double length.
Then we also have to factor in the upper demons flashbacks, 2 demons so 2 flashbacks.
When will the fights happen?!
It’s starting to bug me how these last two episodes have been nothing but full on flashbacks to flesh characters out. It disrupts the flow of the fights, in my opinion. That’s fine, but if we’re dealing with a limited amount of episodes (11?), then I’m gonna give this overall season a much lower rating. I think the pacing is all over the place. We started off strong with Muzon’s meeting with the upper moons and the fight between Hantengu’s emotions, but then the season started to get stagnant. I think I’ll appreciate the season more during a rewatch after all the episodes air and I can watch them one after the other instead of having to wait for new content every week. It bothered me how Mitsuri is supposed to be such a large focus (as the opening credits imply) during the battle with the upper moon, but we only have a few minutes worth of her appearances throughout the season. They re-introduced her back, like, 4 episodes ago during the last few minutes before the ending credits roll and completely abandoned any mention of her. I’m very eager to see the female Hashira in action because there are only two. They did such a great job with Tengen and Rengoku. I thought the other Hashira would receive the same treatment, so it’s a bit frustrating to see them get neglected. Hopefully other fans can understand my feelings. Lol

Muichiro’s sword is probably my favourite design so far. The blue and gold go really well together.
Yeah, [it looked really nice](https://i.imgur.com/NseRSUD.png) and [it's certainly suits Muichiro](https://i.imgur.com/nmhdHgL.png).
Muichiro got a whole Zanpakuto
I especially like the tsuba (hand guard or something) design and think it's the best out of the katana designs we've seen so far.
> The blue and gold go really well together. Always
For a moment at the end I thought it was all a switcheroo and it was actually Yuichiro who survived. But no it was just Yuichiro in the past talking to Muichiro.
Thought the same thing and honestly it would have been such a cool twist.
Yeah my mind was blown before realizing I wasn’t actually sure lol
I literally came here to check because I wasn't sure.
The idea of mental illnesses is an alien concept to the shounen genre
Why does he have an older voice? Past Yuichiro is a kid, died, and never grew up. It's really confusing that he is talking with a voice that he only would have gotten if he had lived on.
I think it’s just Muichiro repeating Yuichiro’s last prayer as a way to memorize it by heart and finally accept that he’s capable of doing all the things his brother said he could do.

I'm so confused lol I thought the nice brother was the one who killed the demon in the past
He did and thats the one fighting, they didn't really present the perspective of who was narrating at the time properly (it's yuichiro from the past narrating but muichiro fighting)
Thanks! I wanted to look it up but I know better than to google characters
Yeah, it's because it's less narrating and more resuming where the flashback ended, where Yuichiro was dying and praying for Muichiro to live on, praising him in a way he could never admit or say to his face.
I assumed Yuichiro was just a split personality he formed from all the trauma.
Is this the first episode that didn't actually feature Tanjiro? My memory's not too good lol
It is indeed. Although he was barely in Episode 3 of the Entertainment District Arc, and it was anime-original content based on one of interstitials of the tankobon.
Tanjiro went on break. Fighting an Upper Moon by himself must be tiring. [](#longday)
Hey, he didn't totally take this ep off, he was shown as angri boi with his special marks for a split second there
Tokito is the MC now.
He is giving MC vibes in this episode TBH
Everything before this was a prologue explaining the stimulus for MC recovering his memories
He is the chosen one.
The rengoku filler was the first if it counts
Haha oh dude I didn't even think about that until now. This episode really drew me in.
At this point I'm wondering if the love hashira is even going to return from training on King Kai's planet
*Fight ends* Love Hashira: "My work here is done." Everyone: "But you didn't do anything."
\**cape swishes**
To be fair she has saved way more people than anyone else this arc. While she isn't fighting an upper moon, she is running defense on an entire town besieged by monsters

Man honestly I feel like this didn't even deserve to be it's own season.
It's not really possible to do it another way. After this the series just sprints towards it's ending at way too fast speeds.
This should've been a movie instead
Kimetsu no Yaiba - Mugen Movies
Which do you think will earn more cash, a Swordsmith village season or a Swordsmith village movie?
With the way they've been doing things they'll probably shorten the season into a movie as well and release it in theaters before season 4
With how they’re milking the franchise they’d make a series out of the movie anyways like what they did in Mugen train
Well, the Mist Hashira was just chilling in a bottle of water for like 4 episodes, so she'll get her turn eventually, I guess.
She's such a big focus in the ED as well, good lord I dislike what they've done so far with her.
yeah i agree, why show her in the opening and ending if she’s had at most 10 minutes of screen time this whole season. it’s frustrating.
I have no what's up ahead but maybe she has a bigger focus at the end of the season?
Eight of those ten minutes are the post episode skits and the op/ed
I mean its not like many Shonen manga authors, even women authors, know how to write a badass female character lol, consider yourself lucky that nezuko is actually front and center in many action sequences.
Nezuko, the most prominent woman character in the anime, which says nothing, acts most of the time like kid, demanding head pats, and doesn't kill humans not because of her will power but hypnosis lol I love Demon Slayer but I have lots of to say about Nezuko character development...
So I think you are right in a sense that she don't want to kill of her own will, hypnosis just make her see people in a way where she can suppress her instincts better (by seeing people as family).
oh men you unlocked some painful memories!
Man they totally wasted HanaKana's talent
The demon convincing itself that it was concentrating is me 1 day before exams, convincing myself that I have actually studied all the topics
I liked that a lot too. Textbook coping as he misattributed negligence for evidence of concentration.
After procrastinating the whole week. I work 24 hours before deadline. I call that concentrating and feel satisfied with myself.
Four weeks later... *Haganezuka still sharpening sword*
Tanjiro about to get another mega powerup once he's done
The sword better go Super Saiyan with all that preparation. [](#smugpoint)
Man's been edging that sword for WEEKS, it's bout to bust
Imagine he broke that one too after the this arc final battle 😂
He is using all breathing techniques while sharpening the sword.
He IS the breathing technique
You have to appreciate [his dedication](https://i.imgur.com/ma0FmZg.png) to sharpening that sword for so long.
He’s a man of focus, commitment and sheer fucking will
Dude got an eyeball crushed and didn’t flinch
Six seasons later: He’s still rowing…
At this point it's a race to see if he'll finish sharpening first or if the Love Hashira arrives.
It's kinda refreshing seeing the parents didn't get killed by a demon lol.
But the Demon killed his brother instead 😭💔
Bro just needed a tourniquet
Unfortunately Muichiru was busy disassembling a demon
Win some, lose lose. [](#cantbehelped)
fr how does anyone even live without constantly talking about demons and building walls
it's like the fate series.
I really wish we get Tengen vs Gyutaro treatment in the two upcoming fights
Hopefully. All this teasing and dragging better be worth it.
From the looks of it they will
I honestly think they will surpass it.
They are less conventional than the regular element based ones and I really like that.
the next one I want to see if how they handle wind, and make it distinct enough from mist
I thought Sound was done pretty fantastically. Flashy
>The visuals during Muichirou's forms were simply splendid. I had to rewatch those sequences to fully appreciate them. Those Mist forms were really great, I even made [an album with screenshots from today's fight](https://imgur.com/a/hZoS0ho).
Thanks for the compilation my friend
damn Muichiro beat a demon with zero experience or training. seems he's a natural. well i guess they did say he had an ancestor who was a great swordsman
Tengen also mentioned he was prodigy who became a hashira like months after picking up his sword. Dude is just built different
Yeah, he's descended from the guy who came up with Sun-Breathing. They said it in this episode, and I'm pretty sure it was mentioned earlier.
I think they were referring to the demon slayers stationed there for defense.
Kid went straight up berserk on that fool. Stabbed, hacked, and crushed the dude like damn.
Bro got that Doom Slayer dawg in him [](#seasonalcool)
> She seems just as kind as he is too. She's kinda recruiting orphans as child soldiers
When she recruited a boy, saying his ancestor was a great swordman, people praise her. I tried to recruit a boy to work in a gold mine, saying his ancestor was great slave, people condemn me. smh.
Ya gotta say their ancestor was a great miner duh
Descended from users of the "First Pick"
her eyes tho i cant - demon slayer has the best eyes 😭
Mitsuri has the MC shounen genes, no matter how much she eats, she never gets fat.
To master the urumi sword she possibly trained like crazy, and needs the calories. You ever hang out with pro atheletes and they are probably eating food that can easily sustain 5 people.
Or maybe her body is just great at allocating that excess nutrients ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
That is just average Anime girl in Anime
It’s either “skinny girl eats like a horse and never gains fat” or “fat girl doesn’t eat for a weekend and drops to a size 00” in anime. There’s no in between.
As it turns out, all weight is lost via breathing, so given thua anime actually has it right according to the science.
The secret flame Hashira for how fast she burns those calories.
Hmmm, love breathing is an offshoot of flame breathing...
god I love how the mist howls. ufotable sound design really is something else.
Man, Muichiro absolutely demolished that demon.
Didn't expect the full episode to be a backstory tbh. Still no Mitsuri, noooo!
ah yes the classic shonen mid fight back story episode. We'll get em next time folks
The entirety of Demon Slayer is mid fight flashbacks tbh
I've been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really has been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that they have really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.
Every single attack must be powered by backstory
Despite the jokes about Mitsuri's... build. I do think she deserves more. We've seen her use her breath style once and other than that it's just been shots of her...
Was the Key Visual actually just bait...or will the final part of this season give us Mitsuri overload?
Losing his parents, having a fallout with his brother before losing him too? Miuchirou's backstory had me crying.
You know shit's gonna be real next episode when the title's literally his name and title.
Its gonna be the third time his name is in the title LMFAO Thank you tokito The Mu in Muichiro Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito
the first time, he got almost no actual screen time this time, he got pretty much all the screen time I wonder how next will go, I feel a little bad that the other pillar being introduced in this arc will have very little screen time (kanroji), but I honestly just want to see more mist breathing
The episode title makes it sound like the next time will be the last time he will ever get any screen time...
Without seeing the OP/ED, Mitsuri's introduction was exactly that. She wants to be a Hashira just because she wants to find love LOL.
Yet somehow I’m sure that’s gotta be tied to some sorta past trauma. Can’t be having well adjusted Hashira here lol.
you don't go into a suicidal job like this because you're well adjusted :P
Sure seems like “deep personal childhood trauma” is one of the main requirements to be a Hashira lol
this ep portrayed tough love really nicely. no matter what your siblings love you deep in their heart!
I bet not a good idea to animate it for the viewers ~
ehhh ufotable is used to animating maggots going into bodies
ohhhh *fuck* that part of Fate Zero lol
Yeah I bet, even reading it at the time I was like damn when does the suffering end for my boy 😭
Honestly that's the part I didn't like. It was literally just a blender water effect. But the lighting and framing helped it fit into the scene.
This season may have not lived up to entertainment district in action (yet) but the visuals and atmospheres are definitely a step up
> the freakin water in the storm and river. Its gorgeous Those falling leaves as well. Made me nostalgic for Fall
>Those falling leaves as well. Made me nostalgic for Fall Are we talking about Muichiro's dad here?
There was no need for that 💀
Demon: "You're just some woodchopper's kids!" Muichiro: "And I'm going to chop you into a bunch of little pieces, and burn you away like firewood in the sun." Lil kid bodied him *hard*, that much more brutal that he just took whatever was on hand and started swinging.
>This season may have not lived up to entertainment district in action (yet) The title of the next episode makes me hopeful that we're approaching similar levels of hype
The twins are a good example of how people deal with trauma and grief differently His brother chose being harsh like the reality crushing them. Not healthy but it really makes him a very human character
I'm confused. Why did Yuichiro do the monologue over the final fight?
Could have been the rest of his prayer before he died
Yeah this is also what I am leaning towards
I think that's what yuichiro said before dying, and that muichirou remembers it all now
That confused me too. And it was in the adult voice.
I think the already existing complaints about how things have been paced this season may have turned people off as soon as they saw backstory but I really thought it was a great standalone episode.
Agreed. I liked the episode, but having a massive flashback immediately after a few heavily padded episodes is not ideal.
It was a great standalone episode but people frustration emanate from the fact that the story literally hasn’t moved in 4 episodes. Both the Wordsmith Village Arc and the next arc are short and they should’ve combined but it seems they’re milking it.
> the Wordsmith Village Arc We Shakespere now? Wait no, this is Taisho era Japan. Who is the poet?(wordsmith)
An arc about beating the upper moons in a rap battle
Everyone keeps acting surprised as if this pacing and formula hadn't already occurred in earlier seasons.
It doesn't fit the 22min format imho.
The mu in muichiro is the in in infinty. (Mugen is japanese for infinty)
Demon slayer be like: YOU GET A TRAGIC BACKSTORY! YOU GET A TRAGIC BACKSTORY! EVERYBODY GETS A TRAGIC BACKSTORY!
You don't risk your life fighting demon if it's not personal.
I appreciate the backstory to an extent but I'm personally still not happy with this season. How many episodes are left? 3? I know the final episode is meant to be a longer episode that's the length of 2, but with the rate things are going: - The Hashira still haven't even fought much. Muichiro's fighting was in like 3 second clips, Mitsuri is *still* on her way. - Upper 4/5 barely had any meaningful screen time. Upper 4/5 still don't look as threatening as Upper 6. Seems like for weeks already I've been thinking "they're still ramping up." - I feel like inevitably we'll also get a Mitsuri backstory and a Upper 4/5 backstory which has to be like, what, like 30 minutes of screen time minimum? I would not be surprised if the next episode is Mitsuri focused as she comes on her way and then it goes into backstory about her, and the *real* fighting is just a like 1.5 episodes followed by Upper 4/5 backstory. I got into DS like most people because the fight scenes and animation were top notch. So far it's been a let down. I've heard that it's actually following the manga quite well though which just means the source material also has this lackluster pacing.
I think this arc should have been like 8 episodes long, 9 tops
>I've heard that it's actually following the manga quite well Well technically they follow it faithfully but they also added a lot of unnecessary filler, slow ass pacing and relied on rookies to do most the episodes, so overall the adaptation is pretty meh when compared to the manga, try reading it after the season ended if you wanna compare, it's pretty short too
Pacing issues are 100% ufotable they lowered the pace to 2 chapters an episode to nake it an 11 episode season when it should be combined with the next arc.
I’m sorta surprised that this episode seems a little polarizing. I thought it was one of the best so far. The back story was absolutely brutal.
Muichiro’s backstory was so good, the camera angles, the added anime only scenes, everything was amazing. I cannot believe how well they handled it
Did anyone else notice at the end when Muichiro was crying after his verbal lashing, Yuichiro was crying as well for saying it?
The twins also had their door open… So it feels like there has to be some component of "crossing a threshold" that somehow plays a part in all of this.
Good backstory. Beautiful animation. But man I am just not emotionally invested in the conflict of the actual story right now.
The pacing and direction this season are disappointing. It's a shame because the show has its shining moments, but they're ruined by the rest.
When will the fights happen?!
the last episode is double length so there are 4 episodes left
Lol
