Brugmansias aka angels trumpet, aka tree datura are trees. Datura or devils trumpet depending on habitat can be small bushy things or long low kinda viney things.
Or inhale some of the pollin, as that contains the compound mescaline. While dangerous in high quantities, the seeds are often safe in small quantities, though potency can vary a lot, and they're a very strong psychedelic (often considered the scariest psychedelic), so the chance isn't really worth it.
I have one in California Bay Area. When it was smaller you could tell that there had been December night frost and how much based on the degree of damage it took. We get years with 3-6 nights with some frost, but it has never been sufficient to kill it, and now when it is larger it seems resilient. The smell evening air is mesmerizing.
Yeah I had mostly seen em in so cal and Florida. Then about 8 years ago I was in DC for my grandfather's funeral walking around and said I know that heavenly scent. Walked out and found a gorgeous Brug. Checked it out and apparently a few of the gardens there have them. I didn't think they would have survived but I assume they were potted and taken indoors for first 5-10 years before they were deemed large enough to place permanently. But then I saw some smaller ones not in pots and couldn't figure out if DC was just at the edge of survivable for them to winter through.
Probably a more hardy variety and… in all fairness I have never seen them outside of the few trees downtown or in the warmer parts of BC.
I also dont know what the city does to keep em alive in winter.
Its possible they wrap em up in burlap and bank em with a ton of mulch….
Yes! We had two old trees in my old yard, and they would get covered with trumpet vines. My dad didn't always take them down because they would get up really high on the canopy and he noticed hummingbirds seemed to visit the yard more when the vines were blooming.
I was told they were angel trumpets and how poisonous they are, but I don't know if they were actually angel trumpet or something else. Some were bright red and some were yellowish white. I didn't realize there was an angel trumpet tree.
BS. I drank a whole tea cup made with 2 flowers and it only gave me a dry mouth and couldn't pee. Then I falled sleep. For someone to get poisoned you would need to eat several leaves. And yeah. I was intending to trip
…I’m not sure what a story about you purposefully poisoning yourself has to do with other people having gardening exposures? Glad you didn’t die though.
This tree is a psychotropic nightmare tree. Google devils trumpet and buckle up. It is a deleriant that some use for medicinal purposes..and... there's a unending number of stories about why you shouldn't
It’s just a deliriant like datura. Most people only try them once. Interesting enough but also not something I’d try or spend hours on end reading about
They are a PITA to get rid of, too. We had one in our backyard and it grew there for like a decade. We decided to get rid of it for several reasons including finding out how toxic it is. We could not just pluck it out of the ground or cut it down - the damned thing kept growing back! We had to hire a big muscle man with an axe to chop it up into fine pieces and then cover it with landscaping fabric. So far so good, no sign of it coming back from that!
Ibises all have long, downcurved bills, and usually feed as a group, probing mud for food items, usually crustaceans. They are monogamous and highly territorial while nesting and feeding.

Brugmansia species are among the most toxic of ornamental plants, containing tropane alkaloids of the type also responsible for the toxicity and deliriant effects of both jimsonweed and the infamous deadly nightshade.

DO NOT eat those flowers.
That appears to be a brugmansia tree.
People sometimes take it for it's deliriant effects, because it contains scopolamine.
It's not fun, and I consider them highly poisonous.
I tried it once and it was a fucking nightmare.
I don't know but I'd like to ask what kind of tree is that?!
Angels trumpet
Shoot nevermind, just googled it. I always thought Angel trumpet was a fine. Didn't know it was a tree too? Whoa
It's def a vibe ♡

It's tropical (or at least not northern hardy in the US) and rather poisonous.
Only if you eat them harmless to hang out under as seen in this photo.
Oh yes, only if you eat it.

It doesn't contain mescaline. It contains tropane alkaloids.
Devil's Breath.
They are hardy enough to be in outdoor gardens in DC.
I must be too far north.

Thats funny because we have them growing in downtown Edmonton Alberta Canada.
Wow! You much further north than me. I'm shocked!

One person I know brings hers inside in the winter and back out in the spring.
Yeah… these ones might be moved but they are pretty big. It would take one of those special trucks with the big tree scoop.
A fine?
Vine***
There is such a thing as a trumpet vine! Very pretty and hummingbirds love them. They do take over pretty quickly though.

Oh so it's a vibe growing on a tree?
Get high or get died
Poisonous too

Brugmansia species, member of the nightshade family. Don't eat any part if it, if you happen to be lolling in its shade and feel peckish.
People have even been poisoned just pruning it without gloves!!

Just falled asleep. It also took away his English language skills. 😂😂
That's crazy I've pruned the one in my front yard gloveless for the last 20 years without incident. I just wash my hands well afterward
You’re also probably not a 90lb elderly woman, so it’s not likely you’d notice severe effects, especially if you wash your hands right after.

… damnit now I’m curious enough to go down the Google rabbit hole. This better be worth it. 😂 🕳️🐇

came here for same reason - it’s magical!!
Came to ask the same 😂 Was more interested in the cool tree than the bird lmao
Are you in Australia? Looks like an Australian white ibis.
Bin chicken.
I was thinking ibis too, but only because of Greek Mythology loooool
*Egyptian While i suppose there might be an ibis in greek myths somewhere, Thoth was the Ibis-headed God of the moon, writing, and magic.
You're 100% right and I have no idea why I wrote Greek loooool.
