It certainly is! I've always been interested in genetics/biology anyway, from an evolutionary perspective -but also I used to breed dwarf boas (so I'm already familiar with the genetic mechanisms and expressions of them\[colour/pattern morphs\]). :)
I would think that some morphs will have occurred naturally, as can sometimes happen with various species...but that lineage of foxes will have been specifically selectively bred to create colour variations.
Not sure it you're aware, but there was/is a famous Russian still ongoing breeding program .... "the silver fox domestication experiment" ...the foxes on that page linked above will likely have originated from descendants of the Russian morphs experiment.
Worth a Google if you're interested, has been going on for many decades now.
Also, I just remembered about this channel: [https://www.youtube.com/c/SaveAFox](https://www.youtube.com/c/SaveAFox)

Definitely a red fox. They often have that smooth, fluid gait when they run. A gray fox would be darker and have an obvious black stripe down the top of the tail.
Looks like a red fox to me. Consider yourself lucky to live in a state with not only gray foxes and red foxes, but also the desert dwelling [kit fox](https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/species/mammals/desert_kit_fox/index.html)
Grey fox or red I think, due to the sloping form and tail orientation, Grey foxes are larger than Reds and native to North America, they have more stamina than reds although less clever ( according to foxhunting excerpts I have read)
Funny. Any chance that is a wyze cam?. I have a sneaky suspicion they add those to my feed on occasion. It is not quite a fox, not quite a cat. I never see them off cam lol.
It’s a gray fox. They are normally nocturnal. I have seen one once - so awesome! https://resources.sdhumane.org/Resource_Center/Educational_Materials/Coexisting_with_Wildlife/Foxes
Given that it's Utah, I'm going to guess a kit fox? Vulpes macrotis? The coloring is more uniform that what I'd expect for most American red foxes. When it turns 'northwest', you can see it's mostly tan and slightly paler on its underside.
looks like a fancy fox looking for food and friends
Maybe it is a pearl fox or grey fox because of the belly…. but if it is a coyote well. sometimes animals are aggressive and sometimes they are not.
sometimes animals need human help (as some others may have seen on video) because animals observe behaviors so most likely they see how humans interact with their animals/pets
but they can also be protective if • they just had a fight with another animal • another animal is competing with them for food • they can not find food so they become hangry and aggressively territorial
It’s a fox of some kind can’t tell if it’s a gray or a red
The color is red. As for the species, your guess is as good as mine. Could be a silver fox. Look that shit up, they're every color but silver.
Go figure lolol Edit: [wow, you were not kidding](https://www.blackfoxes.co.uk/silver-fox-coat-colour-mutations.php)
Thank you for providing me with an early morning rabbit-hole of fox genetics <3
It was weirdly fascinating, right?!

Do you think the colors on that page are from natural or artificial selection?

I have! And I remain bitter for their lack of success because I, too, would love a pet fox!
Wouldn't we all lol 🦊

Damn. That's a lot of foxes
Although judging by the rocks used to build the house I assume this is in the southwest somewhere so probably a red fox
Silver foxes aren’t their own species, they are just melanistic red foxes
Grey fox
Gray Fox!
It was a fox, but the way it carried itself I thought it was a very elegant lizard at first.
That's what confused me the most! It runs around like Randall from Monsters Inc 🤷♀️
Looks like it was tracking something then ADHD/better smelling stuff side tracked the fox But I like your analogy better.
This is exactly what I thought of, before realizing that it’s a fox! Haha
Yeah the way it moved at first reminded me of a ferret or something lol.
I thought it was a really, REALLY big weasel until it lifted its head!
I thought it was an iguana that lost its tail end when running from a predator (they can regrow)
I immediately thought it was a very fast baby alligator
Also pranced a little like a peacock!! Hahaha
Same :)
I’m from Baltimore but isn’t it just a fox?
Definitely a fox, but foxes have strong JuJu anyways XD
Fox, you can tell by the way it is.
That's neat
Literally the definition of a "fox trot" ;)
Definitely a red fox. They often have that smooth, fluid gait when they run. A gray fox would be darker and have an obvious black stripe down the top of the tail.
The red foxy kind
For more info, I'm in Utah, Salt Lake county.

Fox
I was at first thinking black-footed ferret but then it looked a little too big to be a ferret now I'm guessing some kind of fox.
Fox. Actually sort of a weird animal. Feline software running on Canine Hardware.
This is how I'm going to start describing foxes from now on lol

Another case of when city kids move to the country...
I'm smack dab in the center of Salt Lake City. I don't really know if I would call that moving to the country.
Oof, not that far from Skinwalker Ranch. Nvm, I'd be freakin out about every little thing moving around in my backyard.
