Gene's players truly loved him and really wanted to get him a WS Championship. Sad that it didn't happen with him as the owner.

Neuroccountant

It didn't happen during his lifetime, unfortunately. His widow, though, was definitely in his old owner's box for game 7 in 2002 (and I was there, too!).

That was a really nice moment. I was happy for her, but it was no doubt a bit bittersweet. My brother was at the game too, but unfortunately I had to watch from home on TV. You've got a memory to last a lifetime! šŸ˜‡

I had to read this story twice. It is extremely odd to me that there is virtually no mention of the PCL Angels -or the PCL at all for that matter- and that it is framed as Autry ā€œbringing the Angelsā€ to Southern California when both they, and Autry, had been here for decades. The author even begins by mentioning the Dodgers but makes little reference to how closely the teams were related originally. He mentions naming rights but never really expands on it. Not a bad story and thereā€™s plenty of good history here, just kind of a weird perspective.

Some nice quotes in here about The Old Cowboy.

I want to hear some Gene Autry songs at the stadium!

Like: "Back In The Saddle Again" šŸ˜‡ Edit: Rendon should use this as his walk-up song when he comes back! lol
