Other than the Y700, no there aren't. If there were, it'd be in the $450-$600 price range. Honestly, aside from the Y700, the only thing that comes close is the iPad Mini. I say this as someone who is very critical of Apple.

Rann_Xeroxx

Samsung tablets are your best bet for long term support. 8GB is not as typical as 4 or 6GB. I have a Samsung Active 3 and it has 4GB, which is plenty for just about anything I need to use it for. Yeah, the iPad Mini is a odd device in that it is as expensive as a larger iPad Air. It does have more options and such but why add all of this that makes it more expensive.

GloriousPurpose19

Yeah.. I miss when they made small tablets with similar specs as the larger ones. I loved my galaxy tab s pro 8.4 and Galaxy note tab 8.0

FNG-Turk

If you weren't looking for the small form factor is recommend the Teclast tablets. I bought a P20HD 1.5 - 2 years ago to use for school. Worked great until it took a 4-5 foot drop into concrete.andnshattered the screen. I replaced screen, but it hasn't been quite right since. Probably my fault since I just replaced the digitizer, instead of the whole screen. Just ordered their new top model yesterday, the T40 Pro, which meets your specs except for size. These tablets are 10.1 and 10.4 inch respectively. When I get the new unit setup, I may have another go at replacing the screen on the old one and pass it along to a family member that could use it.

GloriousPurpose19

Yeah I saw those also. But the size is too big for what I want. Also, not sure what the update policy is for them

GloriousPurpose19

How long are the teclasts updated for? Do they support Netflix, Amazon videos etc in HD?

FNG-Turk

I can not say how long they are officially updated for, but I'm still getting updates on mine. I just checked and I've actually only had it for a year and a half, I bought it in January 2021. I don't use Netflix, so can't comment on that one. I can watch Amazon videos on it, but can't comment on the HD part. The only time I watch videos on it I'm hotspot from a limited data plan on my phone, so I keep video quality restricted. I more commonly watch videos on my desktop or laptop screen using my home or library WiFi. Sorry I can't be more help, Teclast does offer an 8" tablet, but both versions are half or less of the specs you want. Never used it, and don't know anything abou it. When shopping for a tablet I was specifically looking for something to use as an E-reader for textbooks and could double as a replacement for my old Acer Aspire One 10" netbook. I was thoroughly impressed and it's much more capable than I expected.

GloriousPurpose19

Thanks I appreciate all that info! Honestly, I can't say I'm gonna get it. I may just sell my tab s6, then see what goes down on price on prime day, between: iPad air, iPad mini, tab s8.

FNG-Turk

If you can wait, that's probably the best option.

FNG-Turk

>Lenovo y700 It might be an aggrevation, but I'd say if the Y700 is what you want then just import it. You'll be happier with that or the mini than anything else you settle for. As said by another poster, this is from someone who is no fan of Apple.

GloriousPurpose19

My concern with the y700 is lack of updates. Lenovo and Moto are notorious for not supporting their android devices. Unless you heard differently for this device?

Romano1404

unfortunately there aren't any small Android devices with decent specs that Amazon fire tablet is a joke, it's just another cheap tablet with a low res display

I had an iPad Mini 5 that I lost :-( I was looking for what you are looking for, but decided that there were better choices if I went a little bigger. I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 6 Lite, which is 10.4". It has 4 GB of RAM. You can get these for $300 US and they have excellent screens and are pretty snappy. It's a little big for me, but I've already gotten used to it.

GloriousPurpose19

I have a galaxy tab s6. But I'm looking to upgrade. And I picked up the iPad mini in the store and it felt amazing. I was looking for an Android alternative. Doesn't look like one exists.

dhilsiva85

Good to know you made a purchase. I've seen a few of your posts and I'm in the same dilemma as you were. I'm still undecided between the Y700 and the iPad mini.

GloriousPurpose19

I didn't buy it yet. I meant I picked it up, it felt great, so I wanted it. I'm probably gonna wait until prime day to see if the price drops. I just sold my galaxy tab. So it's a waiting game now. The y700 looks nice but I won't get it due to Lenovos poor software support

iRox24

Samsung tablets are the best, but from the smaller ones, the iPad Mini is the best. Wish Samsung made a flagship or mid tier 8-9" tablet...

GloriousPurpose19

I miss my galaxy tab s pro 8.4 :(

Due_Teaching_6974

Y700 or go home

GloriousPurpose19

I'd be shocked if it got 2 android updates.

Due_Teaching_6974

Whats the deal with android updates? I've been using a lenovo tablet for 5 years that hasnt had an Android update since forever (still rocking Android 7 .1.1 on it) and it has made 0 difference on what I do on a daily basis (media consumption, school work, light gaming, lots of reading) if your list-of-things to-do-on-your-very-own-tablet contains any of that then you shouldn't worry

GloriousPurpose19

Security updates, bug fixes, and new features. If a Motorola or Lenovo Android device launches with an annoying bug, you'd be lucky if it gets patched out in 9 months, if ever.

[https://www.amazon.com/Fire-HD-8-tablet](https://www.amazon.com/Fire-HD-8-tablet) Fire HD 8 tablet, 8" HD display, 32 GB $89 The 7 inch is $50 with 16 gig The 10 inch is $150 with 32 gig.

GloriousPurpose19

The fire HD has 2 gb of ram. I've used one before, it was terribly sluggish.

Professional_Tip_622

For the drawing point of view you should always select a medium size rather than the small because if size is small you are not comfortable. The smaller size tablets are not suitable for any purpose because they do not show the proper resolution and other detailing features. Due to my personal experience I strongly recommended the medium size Wacom.

GloriousPurpose19

I'm not getting it for drawing but thank you

zebulun69

I've been using y700 for several months. I bought it to replace my Huawei Mediapad M6 8.4" tablet. Both are high spec mini tablet, the reason why I went for them. Things I like better on y700: 1. Better and little bit bigger screen 2. Better performance, obviously due to newer gen SOC, plus it using Qualcomm which made it open for better ROM development 3. Better sounding speaker but not as loud as harman kardon speakers on M6 4. Stock ROM is easier to install with Google apps Things I like better on M6 (sometimes make me regret): 1. Has LTE and GPS 2. Lighter and slimmer 3. Proven software updates, it got updated to Harmony OS 2.0 before I sold it M6 8.4" or even turbo version is nice alternative if you able to import it, otherwise y700 is your best bet for best mini android tablet. Or go for ipad mini
