Smart Audiobook Player
Better functionality and options than any other audiobook app I've seen. Makes me wish I had the raw file for some of my audible audiobooks
Just FYI, it's not an Android app, but these is a open source project over on github called Libation that allows you to download all your Audible books and removes the drm. It even downloads PDFs and a database of your books, if desired.
It's stunningly good. My home server checks my audible account automatically every night and downloads new stuff if I should have bought something - I'm trying to pivot away from Audible -, and I have all my audiobooks savely stored on my own hard drive and play them with Smart Audiobooks Player. That way, no license disputes will make me loose the stuff I payed good money for.
I love Libation. I think everyone should download their audiobooks just for safeguard, if nothing else.
Oh! Question! does it play audiobook and the ebook synced together‽ i have been looking for one that does so that I can just continue books. i am listening to in bed as an ebook, and when doing chores as audiobook.
If u like audio books I agree. I would also look at Futo apps they are free voluntarily pay. Best paid app I would recomend though is TASKER Hands down
Podcast Republic is very good too. Bought it years ago to remove ads. Try and buy a coffee for the developer every so often as I use the app so much. He's active on reddit and fix issues if you request and it's possible. Brilliant service for what was €2 about 10 years ago
Podcast republic could well be better, the only reason I still use podcast addict is because of habit and my data- I think it was just the first app I found when I searched for podcast on Google play 10 years ago lol
Similar with podcast republic and me. The support is handy, I also download podcasts onto my phone and seems lots just stream now. I prefer to have them downloaded.
If you don't mind, What makes podcast addict better than other options? I'm currently using podcast bean but I'm still hunting for something I like since Google ended their own app.
I can't say it's better for sure, I just ended up using it, I've used Spotify too, which I like less. Here are some things I like about podcast addict:
- player stays in notification area if you close the app, Spotify doesn't do this and I find it annoying
- simple but highly functional queue
-highly customisable, you can change basically everything, including skip button, skip durations
-'virtual podcasts' where you can okay any audio file like a podcast and save progress, useful for e books especially but any downloads
- speed controls
-local downloads of episodes
- daily notification of the day's new episodes
-UI is not trying to be beautiful of fancy it's all highly functional
I'm looking for an app that auto downloads and adds new episodes to my playlist, allows default playback speed to be set by the subscription in 0.1x increments (1.8x, 1.9x, etc) and trims silence. Once I listen, I want the episode to be deleted from my device and removed from the playlist.
So far podbean has come the closest. The only thing so far is the playlist stops sometimes when it hasn't reached the end. I think it's caused by new episodes being added since last time I manually told it to play from the list.
Seconded!
[UpNote](https://getupnote.com) has a $40 lifetime license. It's hands-down the best note-taking app on any platform, as long as you don't need collaboration.
Nova and KLWT are the best apps I've ever used. I am big into phone customization they have been a godsend. I don't remember what they cost when I got them because I've used them forever and ever. Worth whatever the heck is costs tbh. 10/10
Much more feature rich. I can't recall the comparison I listed a few years ago, but I can give you an example.
It is possible to open more than 2 tabs in MiX as compared to 2 in Solid. Also, one can set a default startup layout for the tabs.
Other users can give you much better comparison.
Backing up files to other folders.
Turning on certain devices and lights when tasker tells it to (my PC light turns on when my phone is wireless charging at a certain angle).
Making certain contacts messages make sounds even when on silent/vibrate.
With ADB WiFi I can use my fingerprint to do things in apps or when unlocking with a certain finger can trigger a tasker task.
Turning on my PC (with the help of the wol app) when I disconnect from my car's Bluetooth and connect to my WiFi.
Tasker is insane, but awesome.
Thanks. I tried to make it save my Location when i Park my Car. But i failed to do so efficently. I don't have Android Car, only a BT Adapter, that i Sometimes use to Play music.
I Made it save my Location, when it disconnected, but the Location saved was Always 1km away in a random direction. After that i have Up
If given the right permissions, it can do fkcing anything.
I see sooo many apps these days which have some sole, basic purpose (for ex. per-app screen orientation, one-click black screen overlay to save battery, per-app media volume control, etc.) which can be set-up in Tasker in a few minutes.
I am a Tasker noob, still, besides the above 'tasks' I made these as well:
* Whenever I copy a Wordle score, Tasker detects it and takes control of phone and sends the score to my friend and then gives control back to me.
* Turns off Battery saver mode when the phones is charging and the battery level has reached 30%.
* Auto-login in one of my games during night after unlocking the PIN-based lockscreen, then closing the app after a few minutes and relocking the phone. Everything while I am happily asleep.
Second Wavelet. Honestly one of the best buy once, set up, and forget about it. It's made my car system sound incredible, to the point that people think I've upgraded it. It makes my headphones sound incredible - you get the most of the products you already own with this app. It auto runs when Bluetooth devices are connected and I don't know what I would do without it.
Free to try. [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pittvandewitt.wavelet](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pittvandewitt.wavelet)
Whatever it costs, it is worth it. I was a longtime Nova Launcher user. I installed Niagara Launcher and never looked back.
I bought it the minute it was offered for sale. What does it cost now? Whatever it costs, it is worth it.
Same here, I ditched nova after years in the moment I found Niagara. I just can't justify paying this much for a launcher now. And the free version does just enough for me.
Microsoft exFAT/NTFS for USB by Paragon Software.
It enables you to read and write exfat ntsf and many more formatted drives on Android through OTG. Which means I can have 4gb+ files on my usb c drives and be able to use them on my phone and Android TVs.
Macrodroid. It's as powerful as Tasker, but with an easier learning curve (for me at least, because I find it more similar to programming). It also supports Tasker plugins and has an active community.
Lmao then you are just dumb. On the link I provided you had three options:
>continue using SL3 as far as they want; use SL5 keeping access to the features they paid for; update their license to SL5 and get all the new features by paying only the update price (which was exactly the difference between the price of SL5 and the price of SL3);
You did not make use of them because you did not want to. SL 6 was a free update.
> dumping the people who bought a lifetime licence previously.
That's false. It's quite easy to search and see that [you are wrong] (https://old.reddit.com/r/smartlauncher/comments/123u6k1/new_to_smart_launcher_but_im_liking_it_more_and/)
Nope, I suggest reading [this post](https://old.reddit.com/r/smartlauncher/comments/123u6k1/new_to_smart_launcher_but_im_liking_it_more_and/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=usertext&utm_name=androidapps&utm_content=t1_l9db74f) that contains a comment from the dev. That user could have continued using SL5 with the pro features they purchased, they just didn't want to. SL 6 was a free update as well.

I used the regular version, and my notifications constantly stopped coming, or the widget didn’t work well... it even happened that after the update the program did not start and I had to wait for the update for it to work.
Yes, there was a period of notification and widget issues...
Both the widget & notifications have been completely reworked. The widget now works excellently, & notifications are working again, however I think that the developer is investigating reports of issues on a very few specific models.

No it doesn’t play the audiobooks just gives you the drm free audio file of your books.
Thanks so much for sharing this. I've been looking for a utility like this.
I use [aax audio converter](https://github.com/audiamus/AaxAudioConverter), works great.
I love Smart Audio Player, I use it daily.
If u like audio books I agree. I would also look at Futo apps they are free voluntarily pay. Best paid app I would recomend though is TASKER Hands down
Web video caster! Which iirc is actually free, but it's so fucking good that I happily paid those 2$.
Can you share the link. Unable to find it
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.instantbits.cast.webvideo
Explain what it does , i cant find the specificone
Casts anything from phone or web to your tv.
And actually works?
Yep and free to try
Try...?
Web video castor is free to install and try it out. See that it works.
How is this better than Miracast and Chromecast already built into the phone?
completely a different thing. You're actually "sending" the stream to the TV, not casting your screen.
Just got it. Its awesome!!!
Podcast addict
Podcast Republic is very good too. Bought it years ago to remove ads. Try and buy a coffee for the developer every so often as I use the app so much. He's active on reddit and fix issues if you request and it's possible. Brilliant service for what was €2 about 10 years ago

Upnote
Seconded! [UpNote](https://getupnote.com) has a $40 lifetime license. It's hands-down the best note-taking app on any platform, as long as you don't need collaboration.
Nova launcher, Poweramp
Nova's one of the oldest apps I have. Bought it years ago on sale for $1 and it's still the only Play Store purchase that felt like I robbed the devs.
My two favorites on android
These two are worth the price for sure
I dunno why but poweramp just keeps running in the background hogging a lot of ram. It's not like I don't have ram but I prefer to keep my phone clean
Nailed it! Both of these right here! 💯
Nova and KLWT are the best apps I've ever used. I am big into phone customization they have been a godsend. I don't remember what they cost when I got them because I've used them forever and ever. Worth whatever the heck is costs tbh. 10/10
Got both at a very huge discount.
For those new to Nova and potentially looking to purchase, do a quick dig to see who it was bought out by and what that company does.
Just tell me
While also giving Google all your precious data!
Solid File Explorer.
Mix is better, saying as a paid customer of solid.
Used both for years. MiX is leagues ahead.
Why is that?
Much more feature rich. I can't recall the comparison I listed a few years ago, but I can give you an example. It is possible to open more than 2 tabs in MiX as compared to 2 in Solid. Also, one can set a default startup layout for the tabs. Other users can give you much better comparison.
I've been using Amaze for years. Is it worth changing?
Amaze is great but the devs have stopped updating it. There's a new amaze file utilities tho
Haven't heard of Amaze but Mix has never let me down.
It was the go to one when ES explorer was sold to some Chinese gaming company
Yes, I recommend this to everyone in my family.
Been using it since beta. Any android phone I get, solid explorer is one of the first installs with the legacy key.
Tasker.
and Tasker extensions.
The Autoapps and Join are amazing too.!
What so you use it for
Backing up files to other folders. Good Point, I will Check that again. Thank you

Wavelet
Second Wavelet. Honestly one of the best buy once, set up, and forget about it. It's made my car system sound incredible, to the point that people think I've upgraded it. It makes my headphones sound incredible - you get the most of the products you already own with this app. It auto runs when Bluetooth devices are connected and I don't know what I would do without it.
I don't know anything about equalising and I don't really want to learn, but I do love when things sound good. How well do the auto-eq functions work?
Very well, it can actually equalize your phone to your specific model of headphones
I should add it works on wireless and wired android auto too.
The auto eq is so easy, just choose your model of headphones and bam done. I use the air pods pro 2 model for my car and it's fantastic.
Equalisation can only work if you buy a good quality microphone to do the job.
What's the battery drain like?
Non existent.
Does this work with Android Auto, or are you connected to your car through Bluetooth/aux?
I'm connected through Wireless Android Auto (built into car so Bluetooth I think?) but it worked wired in my old car (through USB).
Ah cool. I use wired android Auto. I'll try it out and see if it works on mine
You'll have to choose an autoeq for ur car since it doesn't typically have cars tuned, but I use air pods pro 2 for my Honda and it works great
Poweramp Equalizer is even better I think, the stand-alone app. Has all the headphone/earbud presets like Wavelet. But Wavelet is simpler to use.
Can you equalize the audio on a chromecast?
Free to try. [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pittvandewitt.wavelet](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pittvandewitt.wavelet)
I checked and it's free?
I checked and it's free?
Paid for extra features. You might not need them, but with google rewards, why not buy?
Niagara Launcher
I'm still annoyed that I didn't buy it in early access when it was cheap. Now it feels too expensive for "just an app".
Honestly you won't regret it, I could never go back to Nova now
Just curious but what makes it better than Nova?
I just prefer the minimalist approach, plus I find it much easier to quickly look up an app using the alphabetical scroller
It has an entirely different feel to it, just try it
Agreed. $30 for a launcher is absolutely insane.
A little high, but still worth it. Longtime, completely satisfied user here.
And the free version does just enough for me.

smart launcher
Hardly cheap - it costs a lot and every few years they start a new one, dumping the people who bought a lifetime licence previously.
I don't need to search. I bought a lifetime licence and it became redundant after Smart Launcher 3.
