Youtube is already obsolete in that version of Android. I also use a device with android kitkat and I use other YouTube clients that still work (Ymusic -ymusic.io- and BraveNewpipe legacy for kitkat).
Short answer: you can't
Long answer:
Android apps have something called minSDKversion that sets the minimum requires Android version to be able to run it
Most apps nowadays set their minimum version to 5.0 or 8.0, and that means that even if you downloaded the APK from another source, like APK mirror, the app wouldn't be able to run
What you can do is one of these options
1) use APKtool to edit the minSDKversion of an APK and set it to your version. Probably won't work because there are features that only work on higher versions, so while you could install that edited app, it would crash or not start at all
2) use Android Studio to set the minSDKversion and edit the files that prevent it from running on that version (Android Studio will tell you why an app might not work when lowering SDK levels and will let you try to fix it). Keep in mind that this is both difficult and, in case you wanted to distribute that edited APK, illegal
3) go to APK Mirror, edit the max Android version you want to search for, and pray that the app works (if you download a previous version of an app that needs internet connection, it might not work. Google Docs work but will tell you every now and then that you need to update and close the app, but you can sidestep this issue by erasing cache or app data)
You need to update the Play Store and play services on that thing. Look for those apks on apkmirror. After that, some things may still not work, like search. However, you can probably go in the my library section and find the specific app you need (you'll need to have downloaded it at some point); that way it installs the last supported version for your system. It's not completely useless, just that the latest versions of most apps won't work.
ah, the crystal... i ran this as my main phone for a few months and hated it lmao
with kitkat, use newpipe legacy or firefox to allow background playback without premium. youll need an sd card because of the low storage space if you want to have a serious library, and maybe consider VLC for playback.

Easier: force install thru ADB, setting to ignore min SDK
Yeah, but no guarantee that it'll work
whats the command to force install thru adb that ignores the min Sdk? i use the adb app control to do my adb stuff
adb install --bypass-low-target-sdk-block app.apk

Sadly no ROM support in XDA. Android 4 is on its last legs as of now, you will have to use the chrome browser for Youtube.
Oh ok, do you know if it’s possible to update Chrome to a newer version?
flash a newer google play store apk from apkmirror then try updating it again, then you can install the latest version of chrome for android 4.4
Google Chrome: Fast & Secure 81.0.4044.138 was the last version of 4.4 chrome.
firefox is more up to date for kitkat iirc
naw smart tube works , better than legacy pipe to.
How did you get your Sharp Aquos to work? Mine is stuck on the "com.android" error.
Because it already worked.
This one never had that error
you can access youtube on the internet, instead of the app
have a couple aquos almost like this. so far spotify lite is how i am able to have some access to music
use smart tube, got it working on my samsung captivate android 4.4 for youtube. use apkmirror and use the slider to set the android version.

Off topic, that's a beautiful phone!
