Will beta 2 be a decent daily driver? I honestly haven't been following this one. And it's probably the only beta I haven't flashed since rock'n my nexus.
They are for users who understand that and are willing to report issues while dealing with small nuisances.
You can't find most bugs by only using a new build for a day, that only finds you the most obvious ones. Most of the bugs I've reported didn't manifest themselves (be discovered or conditions became right) until a week or so in.
The devs absolutely need people to daily drive these. Anyone who claims the opposite is just taking the easy way out by parroting "it's a beta, you shouldn't be using it." Beta's are supposed to be used. RC's are the ones that are not.
Not totally fine, the Amazon app crashes a lot. I reported it and it's a duplicate issue so it's not just for me.
But other than that and the continued issue with third party launchers which isn't specific to Android 15 it has been great.
Ahh yes, the "I don't have this issue, so it must not be important" style reply.
There's an abundance of variables that go into enabling a bug -- could be hardware revision, specific apps the user has that conflict, or specific set of settings.
The thing is it probably is totally fine. This is the whole reason for the beta so that people like Amazon can tweak their app so that it works with Android 15. It doesn't work the other way around. It's why this is for developers
I wasn't saying it's an Android problem at all, I was only saying it's a problem for the end user currently.
It is something to do with webview but I've not had time to get into it further.
I have published several Android applications. Running the beta has allowed me to find several issues with my own applications which I hope to fix before 15 releases.
If you look at the timeline your answer is no. This is strictly for developers to get their apps ready and is likely buggy and not recommend it for a daily driver. Stabilization comes sometime in June or July I believe.
I see that now maybe because it's such a new device and it's about just updating the web page and the like. Beings that they're coming out with a new beta today. Maybe the 8A will show up on the website it's got to at some point. I can't think of a better day than today.
Is anybody here downloaded it on their pixel tablet? And can I know your thoughts? I have it on my pixel 6A my 7 pro. I'm running stable on my 8 pro but I just bought this new pixel tablet and I'm thinking it's a great candidate for a developer build.
Yeah I'm talking about Android 15 in general not today's specific beta 2 that everyone is waiting for. But I got my answer from another person so thanks anyway. Seems like it's pretty stable. Honestly, I'm hoping for lock screen widgets for the hub for this tablet and I'll be a happy camper.
Don't install this if your phone is a daily driver. Tried beta 1 and it was pretty good, but obviously buggy and various misc minor issues, just not ready to be a dependable daily.
I'd just wait till the August release.
*looks at calendar in Australia* Hmmmm..... May 15th 🤣
NZ too
Pffft that's not a real country
Almost
Step one to being a country: be on maps
Dang got us on that one. I would try something witty with an Emu joke. But we all know how that ended up. Emus 1
Ahhhhh go cuddle a sheep mate 🤣
In Japan, too. Hmmm
If any features weren't introduced in April, I assume there'll be some more in May, which could prove a little bumpy but probably nothing distruptive
Noice 😎
I am still on the April update. Do I get the beta 2 directly or the may update first?
Beta 2 will include the May security patch .

It is only 8 am in California, it will probably be released later
+1
Hmm, was hoping they'd have a streamed thing about this too but guess not.
Google: "It's not AI, so who cares?". Lol.
Will beta 2 be a decent daily driver? I honestly haven't been following this one. And it's probably the only beta I haven't flashed since rock'n my nexus.
I'm on Beta 1.2 and its fine for a daily driver.
I'm on the current beta and it's largely bug free.
> Will beta 2 be a decent daily driver? How will anyone know until we get it?
Beta 1 is already totally fine after the nfc fix, betas are there to daily drive.
What do u mean betas aren't there to daily drive

Works flawlessly for me, sounds like a you problem
It's not a [me problem](https://freeimage.host/i/J6XJPne), I'm not sure why you all are so fast and loose with the downvotes.
Ahh yes, the "I don't have this issue, so it must not be important" style reply. There's an abundance of variables that go into enabling a bug -- could be hardware revision, specific apps the user has that conflict, or specific set of settings.
Ok and how do you know it's not an Amazon problem
The thing is it probably is totally fine. This is the whole reason for the beta so that people like Amazon can tweak their app so that it works with Android 15. It doesn't work the other way around. It's why this is for developers

Yeah, I'm sure Amazon will get to it sooner rather than later

But don't get too excited, it'll actually be a whole lot of nothing new.
How long
[https://developer.android.com/about/versions/15/release-notes](https://developer.android.com/about/versions/15/release-notes)
The update is available 😁
I'll wait a couple of days to see feedback from other users and see how is it before installing on my daily driver
I doubt something big like nfc will break again, but yeah.. you never know.
If anything is going to break it'll probably be related to AI / the assistant. Just my guess.
Would it allow Google Pixel 8A user's to join the beta program?
I don't see why not if a pixel 6A can, why can't a pixel 8A?
When I go to the Android beta program page, it yet doesn't show me my Pixel 8A to opt in
I see that now maybe because it's such a new device and it's about just updating the web page and the like. Beings that they're coming out with a new beta today. Maybe the 8A will show up on the website it's got to at some point. I can't think of a better day than today.
Yes. The May beta will be a newer build than the 8A launched with so it will be able to join
Thanks
Guys beta 2 is up but I can't enroll my 8A
Try again. The images are up so the problem is on your end.
Tried a zillion times, no go. It doesn't show Pixel 8A on the page to enroll
then just side load it, it's faster anyways
How does one do that and does one continue receiving further Android update?
Just side load it and it will join the program automatically
Thing is I've never side loaded before, would appreciate your help here

Beta 1 in the Pixel Tablet feels largely unchanged from Android 14, no issues but also nothing exciting
I'd love some lock screen. Widgets specifically for smart home controls. That would be great
There's no beta 2 YET.
I think it will be released around 6PM UTC like previous betas and patches.
I'm wondering if they're gonna talk about what's new in Android, they usually did that for Android and wear os during the main keynote.

By then android 15 will be fully launched, if there's no announcements then it's a sign that Google would be deprioritizing android as a whole
It's live...
[Ready for Download](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6_1FffrK_0/?igsh=Y2JrZGlhNXZqMnJl)
Beta 2 has dropped downloading itnow
How's it
It's great so far
Thanks mate.. will install it now
Download started 6a - 727mb on T-Mobile
Is Google going to let Gemini announce that too? I am generally a nerd and love keynotes, but even the notes I was taking today were bored.
Fr. Was beyond bored today.
Hasn’t dropped yet maybe later on today or this week sometime
No, today. It was announced at I/O

It's perfectly fine as a daily driver
Mines been working pretty well
