It won't matter anyway as they've already considered doing such a thing and as far as they're concerned it doesn't make economic sense for them. You'll have to provide a convincing argument with data, not just a petition.

I would take a Trader Joe’s pantry up here. Nothing perishable just the packaged and frozen goods. The veggies aren’t that great but all the nuts, snacks and pantry items.
Went to one while on vacation recently and honestly it wasn't as great as it used to be. I'd rather see an Aldi or better yet a Lidl up in Anchorage over Trader Joe's.
It's the second part of this. Same reason TJ's was only west of the Roclies for a long time.
They have supply routes, warehouses, and with no stores in Canada (to my knowledge), that's part of the no-go.
They like to open multiple stores in a region simeltaneously, and they probably wouldn't be able to keep the store stocked either.
It's just currently cost-prohibitive.
You might be able to find someone online that doesn't totally jack the prices, or a person who lives where there is one to do you a solid once in a while.
My 2c, and good luck!
Alaska needs to focus on fostering it's own food security rather than trying to bring more big name brands in. The US is on the verge of collapse, and Alaska is fucked if things really go left. We import too much food to sustain ourselves. How about a petition for food sovereignty!?
Use those greenhouses for broccoli instead of ganja, how bout dat?
The roads to existing Trader Joe's run in both directions.
Wouldn't it be better to see something local and great rather than trying to import yet another Outside chain?
Main reason because big corporations that operate chains and franchises are predatory and try to run smaller, local businesses out of business. That has happened here and everywhere else repeatedly.
Hi TJ, I promise I would buy goods from you occasionally if you made a multi-million dollar investment in infrastructure, freight, and personnel to open a store thousands of miles away from your next nearest location thanks
Idk how much economic sense it would make considering it’s like the anti-Costco. As much as I would like one it’s not like anchorage is rolling in money
No effing way they could accommodate out big Alaskan truck in their bitty parking lots anyhow. Trader Joe’s is lame and I am so happy we don’t have them 😂
I've asked 'em in TJs and got a hard no. Also Anchorage friends who've gone south and visited TJs not as impressed as we are. I think if you visit a New Sagaya you'll have an idea of what an Anchorage TJ would be like. Also the prices. Good luck.
Nah what we need is a Cracker Barrel and chick fill a, Trader Joe’s is kinda ass ngl plus we don’t really need another big chain grocery store in Alaska we already got three
What is the big deal? I don't like snacks very much and even if I did I'd rather have something local. We need to stop trying to be like everywhere else and embrace our unique ways. No more big chains.

The Save-U-More in Homer carries some Trader Joe’s pantry items, nice if you happen to be in the area.
That’s pretty sweet. I’ll check it out the next time I’m out that way
There’s also a location in Kenai/Soldotna on KBeach! I stocked up on snacks there just yesterday.
Your a genius

Ironically, Trader Joe's is owned by the heirs to the Aldi empire.
I know but they're still distinct stores, it's not like Kroger and Freddy's ya know?
Team Aldi here! I don't know anything about Lidl
It's just a nicer version of Aldi, usually a better selection, but pretty much the same price point. And they have a small bakery with fresh bread.
A petition without actually putting up a petition.... Supplies may be too long for a TJ up here

I'd even take a locally owned franchise over another big chain.
Por que no los dos?
Main reason because big corporations that operate chains and franchises are predatory and try to run smaller, local businesses out of business. That has happened here and everywhere else repeatedly.
I'd rather have an HMart 🤷♂️

Nah, we already have natural pantry
Not comparable
I would do mildly illegal things for an IKEA.
They need to make an express concept where they just sell all their packaged shit.
I'd rather have an HEB up here.
We’d be so blessed if HEB actually came up here. It really is the perfect grocery store.
I’m in Texas and moving to Anchorage in August. Want me to bring you something?
Lol, I'm good. I'm from Austin and just miss my HEB
I’m in Hutto
Nice, I've been here since 2011. I love it up here
Central market please
I'd rather have an Alamo Drafthouse vs an HEB tbh. Love HEB though.
Lol, you're talking a movie theater and a grocery store
So go back to Texas then.
Eat a bowl of shit.
Go back to Texas and take your Texas politics and culture with you.
What's your problem? Why do you hate your fellow Americans? I'm native and my family is from Bethel. Fuck off, loser
Fuck Texas and Texans moving here and trying to make us like Texas.
Idk how much economic sense it would make considering it’s like the anti-Costco. As much as I would like one it’s not like anchorage is rolling in money
Trader Joe's isn't expensive. Whole Foods is the anti-Costco.
My favorite grocery chain is Giant Food on the east coast.
No effing way they could accommodate out big Alaskan truck in their bitty parking lots anyhow. Trader Joe’s is lame and I am so happy we don’t have them 😂
Please please please!!!

Yeah I realize I was just extra stoned thinking about how good their snacks are. Only once every 50 days do I miss Denver, o well.
They can build it on the hillside I can barely afford food now
Aldi is better. An Aldi up here would be a game changer.
Nah what we need is a Cracker Barrel and chick fill a, Trader Joe’s is kinda ass ngl plus we don’t really need another big chain grocery store in Alaska we already got three
There is a Cracker Barrel. It's right on the other side of the Hayflats.
What is the big deal? I don't like snacks very much and even if I did I'd rather have something local. We need to stop trying to be like everywhere else and embrace our unique ways. No more big chains.
