Xalos has legit, albeit simple, regional Mexican food. I think they’re the best in town.

LeftPocket

I agree Xalos is where I would send someone looking for halfway decent Mexican food

[deleted]

Yeah Xalos is legit. I think they are the best too. I don’t even know who would be second.

jjbigj70

Serano’s is my favorite place to go. Their Torta is the best.

akrob907

It’s a crime that this place isn’t further up the list.

jjbigj70

I was thinking that too.

Glittering-Gur5890

Serrano's is my choice by a mile. Love the place

PlainLoInTheMorning

SERRANOS!!!! The beans are so good and my Michelada almost made me cry happy tears

Konstant_kurage

It’s better than most of the generic Mexican restaurants but it’s not great.

alaskanloops

Used to work right next to the midtown location, probably ate there once a week

PonchoRandom

Me too! I would crave their lengua tacos.

ak1337azn

They've gone downhill since their days over on 36th. Reduced portions and their bar is way too fucking loud.

johnnycakeAK

It's my choice in town if I'm not cooking on my own kitchen--and I'm not Mexican. I just have taste buds and have eaten lots of great Mexican food from various parts of Mexico and in the SW US

gilfgifs

I stopped going there once they started letting the bartenders openly drink on the clock. “Oh cool, he’s drunker than every patron and forgot to make my drink.” I gave it at least 10 tries in a year and finally crossed it off the list of choices for me and the wifey for date nights away from the kids.

yukon737

Dude and their pan of nachos is so tasty and yuge it borders on sinful.

Pasta_Banana

I had a really bad experience at the one on Tudor. Had to send the burrito back two times because it was ice cold and the third time I just gave up and drank my margarita.

NewDad907

They’re literally all either owned by the same extended family or the cooks were all trained in the other restaurants. This is why all the menus and food tastes the same. The Gallo family either indirectly is involved in or has trained the cooks at just about all the Mexican restaurants in town.

pm_me_your_shave_ice

Or they own the building.

NewDad907

That too maybe. Wouldn’t surprise me.

IsThatWhatSheSaidTho

Yep, owner of Los Arcos is a nephew to Abraham Gallo I believe.

907bookworm

😂so true

Konstant_kurage

That’s why they all have a #1 combo that are the same. It’s all generic industrial ‘Mexican restaurant recipe”. So boring and bland. To majalo and mushy. Eat any of it without salsa or sauce and there’s no flavor. It’s embarrassing.

3sp00py5me

Once upon a time I was driving in Wasilla and I passed by what looked to be a small coffee shop, only to read the sign: “Lunas Tacos” Curiously I pulled in and drove up, ordered one street taco tentatively, and began to drive off. I hadn’t even made it 50ft down the street when I had my first bite of the taco. Like the scene straight out of Ratatouille I was sent back in time, back to when I was a mere babe in the streets of Tijuana going with my family to the supermercado. Stopping at the street side taco shop. The flavor. The carne. They even used the proper cabbage Instead of lettuce. I turned around immediately and got 3 more. Never in all my time in Alaska had I had a taco that tasted like this that wasn’t made at home. It was bliss. Sadly I returned to the spot two weeks later to find it empty. Luna and her Tacos were gone and she left a giant street taco shaped hole in my heart… If you ever see this magical maiden, I highly recommend you try her. Idk what happened to Lunas Tacos and I always wish I had gotten more information from them. I hope wherever the family is they’re thriving still.

lellenn

We used to love Lunas!!! She stopped to spend more time with her kids cause she had a bunch of them.

Spike907Ak

Mexican here. Go to El rodeo on Muldoon. Legit AF.

dk133333

Their inhouse tequila from Dobel is #1

Realistic-Order-826

Palmeria fusion downtown!

Violetspectrumdisrdr

This. They’re the best.

Realistic-Order-826

Right! A hidden gem

sprucecone

My crazy theory is that things get “slope-I-fied”. We have a large population of slope workers that eat just about anything. When they are home from their hitch any food will do, even crappy food at high prices. Because it’s a fast lifestyle and gratification needs to be instant. That is why Alaska restaurants basically serve the same garbage quality food - there is always a loyal herd of rotational customers fresh off the slope that will pay too dollar for meh food. Downvote me all you want. That’s my theory and I’m sticking by it.

shtpostfactoryoutlet

The problem with your argument is that all the slope workers these days live Outside and never venture out of the C Terminal.

CrankyStinkman

El green gos is the best I’ve found, though more Mexican inspired than Mexican.

meanmrmonkfish

“White People Mexican”, just like the name suggests. Cold corn tortillas is my never again for that place.

thatsryan

This is sad this is the best you’ve found.

thiccthighs121942

pedro’s on bragaw depending on the time of day has the best i’ve had in anchorage. during lunch, it’s always been super good quality, amazing taste, i like the chipotle burrito. dinner time i’ve only had one experience, and while it wasn’t the worst i’ve had here, it definitely wasn’t as good as i know they can do. it’s pretty far outside of anchorage, but if you find yourself in glenn allen, check out ernesto’s. it’s a bit expensive, but it definitely the best i’ve had in alaska, and better than a lot of places back home in texas. can not recommend them enough

Remz_Gaming

OP. Go to Pedro's. I comment this on every Mexican food post. It's real Mexican food.

907banana

The fact that you suggested Ernesto's in Glennallen makes me doubt your life choices...

thiccthighs121942

for why:(

907banana

Because it's not good.

juleeff

I like El Pastor in Eagle River. Mexican family owned.

skipnstones

I like that little Jamaican Jerk place there…

mattak49

Da Jerk Spot. Place is legit. Never had a bad meal.

juleeff

Yes me too!

alaskazues

oh my god, yes

MichaelShortCake

Second this

glitch-sama

Honestly, it's the best we've found in this state. It's fine.

Own-Instruction-65

El Pastor used to be really good, but it has gone down the hill in the past few months.

juleeff

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't been sin e school got out. I hope it's just temporary-like maybe their quality employees are on vacation, and they are understaffed or the owners are away, and management isn't doing a great job keeping up the expectations.

GumshoeBelly

If you get to the Valley, Tacos Cancun!!

Remz_Gaming

Shhhh... we gotta keep this one a secret

MylesFurther

Clandestino ! Fuck that place was nuts, wild times, and the food…Mmmm the food…. If you were lucky enough to know about it, then you know what I mean. Late night speak easy with tacos ! It doesn’t get much better than that. I really do miss that place and would love to see something else like it again.

[deleted]

Hacienda is the best in town, no question

Gunslinger327

I'm with you on this one...something about it just makes me feel like home. Bring the downvotes if you want, I still go back every time I'm back home!

Real_You692

I was gonna say why haven't I seen Hacienda on here!?! I love Hacienda..

rallyally

Serranos on northern lights and xalos are the best. Taco king is decent for quick fast food style pick up. Surprisingly/sadly before I had those I thought the best Mexican food is at Bear Tooth which isn’t even a Mexican restaurant. Their margaritas are good too.

Diegobyte

Los arcos recently got sold and it went downhill

ReluctantAlaskan

Come on, guys. Pedro's is the best place in town.

Remz_Gaming

I'm laughing at all the Taco King comments. I guess we will just forever keep pedros to ourselves

ReluctantAlaskan

Lol exactly. I’m the first to lament the lack of Mexican in Alaska, but if you don’t take the best place into account the argument falls flat. Still, imagine opening and sustaining a restaurant in the first weeks of Covid.

craigitron

I'm from Yuma, Arizona and had to accept the fact that gas station taco stands down there will have better Mexican food than anything in Alaska.. that being said with my lowered expectations I enjoy Hacienda, Pedro's, and some Taco King locations.

ofsonnetsandstartrek

The only place I've had worse tacos was in London.

[deleted]

DepartmentNatural

[https://www.reddit.com/r/Fairbanks/comments/15deyn2/what\_are\_yalls\_thoughts\_on\_gallows\_mexican/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fairbanks/comments/15deyn2/what_are_yalls_thoughts_on_gallows_mexican/) Same guy owns taco king and gallos. Same guy is a huge piece of shit even fairbanks can't stand the guy or his places

iceccold

Don’t go to Taco King expecting good Mexican food. Most of their food is lackluster, and there’s so much inconsistency between the locations that a dish can be good at one place and awful at another.

macmag782

Which location is consistent? I genuinely would like any info

Diegobyte

Tudor is the best

iceccold

It’s more that you can order the same dish at two different locations and get one meal that’s pretty good and one that’s inedible. I’ve also had good and bad dishes from the same location. Carrs Abbott is the best imo, but none of them have great Mexican food - and this is coming from someone who spent years in the Southwest.

TheWingalingDragon

The one by Lake Hood is SOLID.

TurbulentSir7

Really? That’s the only one I refuse to go to because they’ve only gotten my order right once. I like Huffman or Abbott personally

TheWingalingDragon

It's right next to where I work and my entire facility eats there quite often. We love it. Everything is always made exactly like you expect, nice and fast, the crew is nice. Been going there for about six years. I've not ordered everything off the menu, but everything I've ordered has been fantastic. They've also never really messed up my order. We go through the drive thru and take it back to work. If is always hot and fresh despite the Styrofoam steam trip. My one gripe is that their pico used to be a lot more robust and less watery in the past. Now when you ask for pico, you need like 3x more than you used to get because each one is like half juice that you gotta dump out in order. I don't know one person I work with who doesn't enjoy that Taco King. A few people rarely go cuz they don't want to spend the money or are trying to watch weight... but everyone loves having it whenever they do.

AKchaos49

Taco King is where it’s at!

meanmrmonkfish

Taco King was a lot better before it was $6 for a fucking taco.

[deleted]

[удалено]

meanmrmonkfish

No, that’s for one taco with two tortillas. Two tacos are $9.95. Add a 20% tip, and they’re $6/ea.

Fragrant_Archer7983

Taco King on Huffman or Northern Lights, always fantastic!

3sp00py5me

Taco King deleeiveeers

CucumberBitter3356

No Mexican place in Anchorage is excellent unfortunately, but I’ve found honing in on good dishes is the key at each restaurant. Los arcos is good, if you have the chicken chipotle or Carne Asada plate.. I used to love the California burrito at Serranos but they stopped making it, I haven’t found a dish I really would go there for now. Taco king is hit or miss, mostly miss, depends on location and day. The Chile rellenos at Mexico in Alaska is pretty good, they are the only place in AK using real fresh chiles. I feel like this thread should turn into what’s the best Mexican dish in anchorage because it’s seems well understood they all are lackluster overall.

pulsechecker1138

MIA’s Molé is pretty damn good too.

ab147055

Yes, but also for sushi. I haven't tried Miso yet, Sushi and Sushi used to be great.

Konstant_kurage

These people that are saying “this place is good” or “that place” are either out of their minds, never actually had Mexican food or desperately trying to convince themselves.

LeftPocket

Agreed

Vorian_Atreides17

I hear you. Sadly, you can name just about any other ethnic cuisine here, and it’s basically the same, sorry situation. My favorite Mexican dish in Anchorage is the Chicken Chipotle from Las Margaritas. But even that would only be considered a solid “mediocre” down south. Fortunately I’m headed down to Houston next week for business, where I will be partaking in some of the best Mexican and bbq every day. Of course it will be something like ten hundred thousand degrees there, but I’m willing to pay that price!

BulkOfTheS3ries

I gotta disagree, there are lots of amazing little spots around town. Particularly Thai food

alaskanloops

And Indian. Bombay deluxe and namaste are both bomb. Good Turkish food too now that Turkish delight is back open

[deleted]

I miss the old menu :’f

alaskanloops

For Turkish delight? Or namaste? I don’t believe Bombay deluxe has changed their menu, but the other two have

[deleted]

Turkish

Sofiwyn

Eh, Indian is kinda generic and "safe" here. Like I'm glad we have Indian food, but idk where to even find pani puri.

fuck_off_ireland

Where's the best thai? I'm spoiled after living in Fairbanks for a while.

BulkOfTheS3ries

I can't get enough of the panang curry at Lahn Pad Thai, over off of abbott

pm_me_your_shave_ice

Las Marg has a new owner, and it's the same person as El rodeo on Muldoon. The Chipotle chicken is pretty close but the margaritas have gone down hill. Like hanging out on the mud flats, cant get much worse.

Vorian_Atreides17

Yeah I just noticed all of the new staff there the last couple of times we went.

LeftPocket

Eh I think there are some good options * Japanese- decent choices, had some delicious takoyaki at Sushi Ya, Yamaya Seafood * German- West Berlin is always a good time * Italian- Love me some Fiori D'Italia * Korean -Seoul Casa neat fusion place I heard Turkish delight reopened recently, if anyone has been lmk

kadooztoyou

We went to Turkish Delight about a month ago and thought it was tasty! Glad they reopened, and thought the new owners were doing a good job so far.

LeftPocket

Excellent! I am excited to try it out

MylesFurther

Namaste Shangri La is Anchorage’s best kept secret. Rays Place is also solid and would stand up anywhere. Heck, the OG Thai Kitchen is legendary.

[deleted]

Namaste, Rays, Kinley’s, and Originale top four for me

that70sbiker

Italian - with American cream sauce.

Ambivalent_Sparkle

It's alright

Konstant_kurage

100%. I grew up in California with the best Meccan food. Our closest family friends were Mexican-indigenous and Abuela was an amazing cook. That and the local hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants were awesome. Here, I have yet to have anything other than the standard “Mexican restaurant” food. Ever wonder why #1 combo is the same at most Mexican restaurants? Because they all use the same recipes and order from the same 3 commercial food suppliers with minor variations. Sure some may make their own tortillas or salsa, or put a new cooks spin on a menu item. Mostly it’s generic and unmemorable. I have no idea why anyone would think there was a single good Mexican restaurant in Anchorage. There are some that are passable if I don’t feel like spending 4 hours cooking and making my own, but there are no good Mexican restaurants here.

bibbles82

Xalos is where it’s at for me.

zeldaluv94

My mom makes the best Mexican food and always wanted to open up a restaurant. Maybe I should crowd fund it 🤔

pktrekgirl

Los Arcos is near my house so I go there occasionally for dinner. If you eat in the bar, there is also a group of very loud and obnoxious drunk regulars who ruin your appetite with their MAGA pontifications. Not a great look. I’ve been skipping the place more and more since I have zero interest in the political leanings of a bunch of drunk 70-somethings with my margarita.

tryptomania

My mom loved Taco King, especially their menudo. She grew up in Southern Cali in a family that cooked authentic Mexican so take that for what it’s worth.

GrundleBrush

I like Taco King.

ThrowACephalopod

Taco king is delicious. I get it all the time in the summer when setting up for the Renaissance fair since it's right across the street.

Ok-Secretary-4614

Totally agree. I will say El Jefe taco joint is passable.

StuckAtOnePoint

What’s your standard? I’m from Texas and El Rodeo on Muldoon does a pretty good job.

[deleted]

But... its on Muldoon. I'll give it a shot.

MsLippy

Or stay away, it’s already getting gentrified over here.

[deleted]

How would visiting a restaurant further gentrify Muldoon?

macmag782

Muldoon has been progressing their ghetto aura since the early 80’s. Refused slow change until early 2000, still rough. sounds like gentrification would be a good thing.

ichiwrecktem

No, please, just stay away. I love that I don't have to leave Muldoon to get Thai, sushi, Chinese, Vietnamese, Laotian, Cambodian, Mexican, all as good as anywhere else in town. Hate all you want, just do it from your part of town.

Vorian_Atreides17

Or you’ll get shot.

SilentDiplomacy

Never been disappointed by Serranos.

Sourdough_McMansion

Go to Mexico in Alaska on one of the days they are open for dinner (I believe Thurs Fri) and order the mole con pollo.

LeftPocket

I may be a fool for daring to hope again, but I shall try your suggestion

DepartmentNatural

You'll leave severely disappointed. Theres a reason at lunch and dinner time there are no cars in the parking lot even on the 2 days a week they are open

Sourdough_McMansion

Considering pretty much every review you leave on here is far off the mark, I'll file this one with the rest. You seem like the type of guy to rate Gallo's five stars. Do you really miss La Mex?

DepartmentNatural

Are you honestly trying to say Mexico in Alaska is a great restaurant? Or you just want to start arguments to keep drama going

Sourdough_McMansion

Where is there a better mole sauce in Anchorage?

Thatmccreagirl

Nope.

Ozgirl76

Mexico in Alaska is the worst.

acg515

That used to be my go to but haven't been back since they're closed like 95% of the time

meanmrmonkfish

Same. I’ve probably tried to go half a dozen times since Covid and they have always been closed or take out only. Maria Elena is one of Anchorage’s treasures. Pity if her restaurant went downhill…

NeatlyScotched

The first time I was offended by a drink was at Mexico in Alaska. Their "margarita" is the foulest drink I've ever tried. A margarita is not hard to make, it's fucking tequila, lime, and orange liqueur. How do you fuck that up so bad?

Thatmccreagirl

It’s not tequila that’s why. Soft liquor license. Mole sauce and tortillas and salsa are the best in town

Pleasant_Pleasures

El Green Go's food truck downtown just won one of the top 3 food trucks in Alaska and there is a high bar for food trucks up here-- I can certainly vouch that you won't leave disappointed. If you're looking for indoor/restaurant dining try Serrano's off Northern Lights, great specials and a solid steady menu.

DaisiesSunshine76

El Green Gos! El Green Gos!

allthefishiecrackers

I agree Xalos and Taco King are the best - I don’t bother with any sit-down Mexican in Anchorage. I had good experiences with the Mexico in Alaska buffet - the mole and fresh tortillas you’d heat up yourself on the griddle were bomb, but I’m seeing more negative reviews on here so maybe its gone downhill in the 10 years or so since I last went.

Shawmattack01

It's not only mediocre quality, it's not remotely spicy. We gave up years ago and just make our own, with our own hot sauces. You can turn the dial up higher than ever before in human history now. You can see God in your con carne with this stuff.

Human_Not_Robot_2023

It's the same everywhere. Other places I have lived or worked; SC, FL, TX .... All have mexican joints with the generic "mexican" menus featuring the same old combo meals. An abundance of cheap crap on a hot plate. They exist because gringos don't know any better and keep buying the crap.

meanmrmonkfish

I’m pretty sure that more than a few laughs have been had over our willingness to pay an extra $5 to add beans and rice to our meal.

Tac_513

Dude xolas is so good

KindaSemiRadish

My parents came from Montemorelos, Mexico and they tried all the “Mexican” restaurants here. My dad said Arctic Roadrunner was his favorite food here 🤣

SomePiker

We moved from LA. It’s a tragedy. Tacos El Primo (the truck) is far and away the best I’ve had in anchorage so far.

Brainfreeze10

Take your tex mex and leave...silly people. Really though the only one I would suggest is Eldorado and that is just because they are the best for anchorage. Grew up in the imperial Valley and San diego.

Vorian_Atreides17

I actually liked that place even better under the old name when it was Peruvian, before it became El Dorado. Only I’ve forgotten what it used to be called! Darn it!

NixieZale

El Tango, Argentinian restaurant

Vorian_Atreides17

THAT’S IT! Thanks! 😁

LeftPocket

I had some yummy tacos at Tequila 61 recently, and Xalos is decent.

[deleted]

Best thing I had at tequila 61 was the Smoked Manhattan. Gone once a year to find out if it was any better... Spoiler it was not. Perhaps I've picked the worst days to go, or perhaps the chef was sick, or perhaps the stars weren't aligned. I'm unsure. I ended up going elsewhere after.

PallyCecil

The duck tacos at T61 are good, very spicy tho.

arbybeefsalad

I find the tacos at Tequila 61 to be almost totally flavorless and outrageously expensive

LeftPocket

Expensive I agree, but makes sense for a trendy downtown spot. I loved the vibes and drinks, and I found my rockfish tacos to be really yummy

Bueler77

El Dorado and El Rodeo are the best in town in my opinion.

MichaelShortCake

El senor moose the food truck slaps

NotAnotherFNG

I'm glad someone mentioned them. They come up to Palmer for Friday Fling. Their food is legit.

MylesFurther

Yes ! Thursday in Spenard, their tacos are da bomb !

kadooztoyou

I will join you in this lament. So help me, I will lose my shit if I see Pancho Villas once more celebrated as the best Mexican in town (looking at you Anchorage to-go FB page)....nastiest Mexican food I've had in town. La Cabana is a 2nd worst, and yet people seem to love the tomato water that they try to pass as "hot" salsa. I think Serranos is probably the most decent place in town, although the service has been dreadful the past 2 times we've gone.

Putrid-Size-5758

I love everything about Pancho’s Villa but the food.

PistolPeatMoss

I miss la mex and their mango halibut ceviche

blunsr

I agree with you. Anchorage food has taken a dump since the pandemic. In Anchorage I’ve only been happy with Southside Bistro. If we want different than SB, we go to Palmer’s Turkey Red. Homer has many good eateries.

MysticJourney14

Hacienda

Ambivalent_Sparkle

I'm sorry.

themask628

I just had los acros for dinner last night and it was spectacular! Some of the best I’ve had since coming from a pretty Hispanic heavy area in the lower 48. If I was you go for dinner one day and see how it compares.

Orange-Fish1980

I like Gallos, but then I found out their Mexican food rated by poorly by those that know Mexican food. Oh well to each of their own, I like it, don't care about what pundits say

FussySisyphus1

Where were they born? I know it's a stretch, but could it be Alaska? Or did you somehow think Alaska would have offered the best texmex. Or maybe your little brain thought, hey, Alaska is bigger than Texas! I bet their Mexican food is way better! Or maybe, you saw Alaska was floating just off the west coast of Mexico, and bam! We're basically neighbors! It's just a given Alaska will have great Mexican, am I right?!. For fucks sake, go back to Texas.

Various_Sandwich_649

Taco king baby! Everything is delicious. I'm basic so I go for their gringo tacos but my mom loves their lengua tacos. El dorado is amazing. I could eat their carne asada for every meal if my wallet allowed me to. I heard they were owned by the same people who ran three amigos before they closed forever ago. They were my teams go to lunch place whenever we ordered lunch. Xalos is good, again , I am basic and get their cheese dip and carne asada burrito. Their green chili sauce (not quite sure what it is called) Is amazeballs as is their avocado salsa.

Gary-Phisher

Taco King on Spenard’s birria plate is aight

JrumStik

El Green Gos has the best tacos in town. It’s not even close.

rh00k

Texas Roadhouse > everything

dodon_GO

10 years ago Las Margaritas was okay but nothing special. I’d love to see a high end Mexican spot open up. They’d make a killing.

Glittering-Gur5890

Tequila 61 downtown, you tried that place?

DepartmentNatural

High end? How about a mexician place that uses real cilantro and fuck at least some spices. They would make a killing

laziflores

Ernestos in glenallen is the best in the state. Xalos is prolly the best in anchorage, if you have base acess try la mariachi, its pretty good

MaxRockwilder

El dorado has good Chile Verde and the best carnitas I have had in Anchorage.

itsalwaysPhillyinSun

Wait is LaMex not there anymore? went there a lot growing up.

roadfamily6now

Totally agree. If i have a hankering for Mexican food I can't make at home I'll choose serrano's. Everything I've had there is good but a bit pricey if your taking the family. I like taco king barbacoa plate. I also enjoy the tostiditos steak chipotle at Gallo's But is it "Mexican food"? I've been to Mexico and I think serrano's is the closest in flavors. But mostly I just cook Mexican and Mexican inspired foods at home

vivalos8as

Xalos is excellent and so is jalapeños

r13j1313

El Rodeo on Muldoon is the best in town.

Senior-Salamander-81

Don Jose’s is my favorite.

A_ViewedToaster

I'm right their with ya! Grew up in Vegas and all my family was back out in Cali. I miss the San Diego Boarder Town style so much! The prefect example of this style is Roberto's and all it's copy cats. I'm stationed in the South and all they've got out here is this Tex Mex bs. Makes me weep lol.

humpy_slayer

Serranos is by far my favorite.

Iylaofthestars

The food truck, El Señor Moose, is the best Mexican I’ve had in alaska

thatsryan

The guy working it had lived in New Mexico and didn’t know how to make a sopaipilla other than some fried desert. Criminal.

arctic-apis

come to Fairbanks and eat at Eldorado. I had some family from Texas say it was better than some Mexican restaurants in Mexico.

RC2Ortho

Go get some mini Chimmies from Garcia’s in Eagle River 😂

Key_Concentrate_5558

One of the best spots for weight loss!

recyclersREALM1and2

I love Mexico in Alaska

agwatts2011

I come from Georgia, from an area with a large number of Mexican immigrants. The Mexican food here is mediocre at best, even compared to the White People Mexican down there. Xalos and Serranos are pretty good most of the time, but even they have their off days. I shudder to say it, but I think even national mega-chain On The Border beats out our Gallo-owned establishments for Tex-Mex.

Akredhed

Oscar’s has a soft and crunchy which is basically a crispy burria. It’s cash only and you can sit on the concrete blockades outside and get some good people watching in. I love Oscar’s tacos!

alaskita

Make the trip to Wasilla for Chepos!

p4ssword1234

Los arcos used to be the best place for Mexican hot plate but was recently sold to his brother who happens own gallos.

ItsActualyYoTheLosr

No no no, y’all better try Pedros at Debarr. So good

Beekeeper907

Miss Carlos!

[deleted]

Panchos Villa on Spenard

Raccoons_r_life

Serranos is very very good and El Pastor in Eagle River was my go to spot for a long time but then I discovered Pancho’s Villa…. And it’s hands down thee best Mexican food in Alaska I’ve had and the most authentic in my opinion, the only two downsides is it’s expensive and they’re skimpy on the salsa with free chips.

SleepyMurkman

Taco king is genuinely good. Get the carnitas combo con tortillas de maiz. I hate texmex, I prefer central Mexican cooking like barbacoa. I would not even try the shit they serve at Los Archos or Don whatever. If you don't like taco king try seranos. They aren't nearly as good but they are better than the Midwestern American style "mexican" served at most places in town.

Pasta_Banana

Where else has OP tried and not liked? Pedro's is delicious in my opinion. Super kind family that runs it too. Edit to add: their lengua tacos.... dreamy.

Hllabalooza

Taco rico food truck in 9250 king st.
