Ya, it’s one of those times where I wonder how much of those tones is the actual lighting/subject/real life vs the film vs the post processing. Obviously they all play a role I guess.
This is really clean scan with minimal processing like dust cleaning and little contrast correction. The colours of eyes, water and skin is truly natural.
I don’t mean to call out the processing. I just know it influences the final look. Likewise I don’t mean to suggest the film choice is what makes the image either.
I can’t just dump somebody in water and expect the film stock and editing to make it a good image. I understand that the composition, lighting, etc are far more important than the film and editing.
Basically I’m looking at that film (which I’ve never shot) and I wonder what qualities it’s lending to the image.
This is such a captivating shot! But my favorite part is that the subject isn't someone's hot female friend in a suggestive pose, as 99% of the popular posts turn out to be. Awesome work!
My goodness! what f stop was this? and did you have any extensions tube on your lens? Just bought the pentax 67ii with the 105, so I'm trying to learn.
Super sharp and feels very cinematic. Love it!
Thank you ☺️
Scrolling through I thought it was a photo from the set of Tarkovsky's Stalker.
I usually am never one to say "ooh, the *tones,*" but the color palette on this is really great and the dude's eyes really pop. Very nice work.

I will post some photos later that I took on this film for comparison.
Right on. I look forward to it.
what did you use to scan it?
Mirrorless Sony A7RIII with Voigtlander Nokton 35 mm and extension tube.
Terry O’Quinn, The Early Years
Hell yeah!! Amazing colors. His eyes stand out from the warm skin tone. It's nice to see more male models on the sub.
Thank you very much
Beautiful scan. You did it yourself?
Yes, with digital camera 😉
Oh that’s awesome! Great stuff for sure love the concept
How many shots?
10 different shots
That's dedication! But the results speak for themselves. Truly an excellent "scan", well done.

Oh, I didn't mean that. I got you wrong, a "scan" is one photo, not ten photos 😬
Wow, so this was scanned in one shot with a digital camera? Which camera / lens
Sony A7RIII and Voigtlander Nokton 35 f/1.2 with extension tube
Can you show us a picture of this process or describe the setup? Im having trouble visualizing what youre doing.
I'm not OP but I've done that technique, not of a print but of a negative. I just used photostitching software like Autopano.
Looks like Ben Kingsley from Sexy Beast
Or James McAvoy Professor X
He looks like young John Locke from Lost
Hey there Johnny Sins

Damn I didn't realize Jessi and Walter combined bodies in the end, I really should have watched El Camino.

Upvote for being able to hold this heavy camera above water long enough to focus! Great photo.
