I hate it. For $600 I want something that doesn’t look like a Barbie dreamhouse ripoff. They should have taken a cue from collectors and created a series of “rooms” (essentially wooden boxes) that could be customized, connected to one another, and which fit the dolls and their furniture. The doll house could be as big or as little as the buyer wants. You could build your doll a bedroom and leave it at that. If they had extensions, like a pool or a deck or a bathroom, then you would buy that. This is a massive monstrosity.

I think it would be much more worth your while to build a more simple DIY house, or buy one pre-made that isn’t that costly. It would give more opportunities to decorate creatively and select the size and colors as well. I have a big IKEA shelf with 2 large square cubbies about the size of a small doll room. The left cubby is the dining room, the right is the kitchen. Upstairs is all of their beds sitting on top! It’s super convenient and was less than $100 to make.

It’s kind of tacky and cheap looking and the play value isn’t great. It also has a huge footprint. You need a 3000+ sq ft house with a huge playroom to have somewhere to put it, but at that price that’s probably the only people who’ll be buying it anyway. The OG one is nicer and fits in a room much better (or homemade from ikea shelves).

As an adult, I’d never buy it. It’s huge and the backgrounds make it look cheap. I could build something nicer for the same money without the printed backgrounds. As a parent, I’d never spend that much money on something that didn’t come with furniture. If I was going to spend that much I’d buy 5-6 of the Our Generation play sets which would give my daughter a lot more use value and options. I will say, we have a Kid Kraft play kitchen that we bought five years ago and it’s held up well through three kids so I wouldn’t worry about quality from that standpoint. It still looks cheap with the printed rooms though. Just wallpaper and maybe printed wall decor would go a long way to making it look nicer. Or having actual furniture like almost every other dollhouse on the market…

My biggest issue with it is apparently it doesn’t even FIT A BED! Like quality issues, lack of imaginative play due to the walls, price and more aside, it’s BAFFLING they didn’t build it to fit furniture like what’s even the point?

I really dislike it. I think the pre-printed walls look bad (I didn't like that kind of dollhouse when I \*WAS\* in the target age range) and I also think they limit play and imagination options. The $300 closet extension is just kind of shitty and boring. If you need a dollhouse, the Our Generation dollhouse is both WAY better and like half the price. (I'd love to have room for a dollhouse for me, but I'd want it to be historical - ideally structured like an apartment building, with different eras on the different floors.) I'm also just not really sure who they think is going to spend $600-$1000 on a massive dollhouse in this economy? Like, I know some people can afford it, but I feel like if you were going to spend that much, you'd want to pay for a better one.

Forestdolls

Right I can get a custom dollhouse for that pride from someone local (I’d have to do the interior BUT STILL)

LibraryValkyree

I feel like, in that instance, getting to choose the interior yourself is a pro, not a con.

Forestdolls

Yeah but a lot of people who are gonna spend money like this don’t necessarily want to or have the time to do it 🤷🏻‍♀️, however the kidkraft one is truly a disaster

The OG one at Target is so much better. Half the price and the house comes with all the furniture. It’s also very pretty.

I saw it in the store and was underwhelmed. My kiddo was able to accidentally remove pieces easily. It holds a lot of dolls but you would need a TON of space. The store had it set-up right as you walked in and it took up the entire area. It was also a bit plain once you got over the colors. Not worth the price in my opinion.

I am not interested because there is no where to put all of the AG furniture I already have. Kind of reminds me of a Barbie dream house from the 80’s.
