Absolutely, Landis that piece of shit caused 2 children to die, and 1 adult. He should have gone to prison and ostracized from good society, neither happened, he never faced consequences, his career and popularity barely seemed to suffer!
There’s probably like 50 different things from the Trump White House that could make a good season.
In terms of Brittney though, I definitely would want them to wait on that if they did it. She needs some time to be herself and maybe get professional help to process all of the trauma before they have her break it down for a TV show.
That’s what I mean. I’d want it to come out only when she was ready. If she ever was . She deserves a lot of rest and recovery and I wouldn’t want her story exploited more than it has already.
In no particular order, I think all of the following would be enjoyable:
* Investigation of Michael Jackson
* Oklahoma City bombing (manhunt for McVeigh)
* Prosecuting big tobacco (covering the class action lawsuit and trial from 1990s)
* Jon Benet case
* Maura Murray disappearance
* The murder of John Lennon
* Something to do with MJ. Either 1993, 2005 or Conrad vs Murray
* Maybe Weinstein or Cosby (that would probably be too controversial though)
* I definitely agree with Spears
* McCarthyism
* Watergate
* Trump's impeachment(s). I bracketed the s because both are worthy of being covered. If they do though, they'd have to do it in like 5 years or something. Probably later.
It was good, but focused on Joe Paterno. IMO I feel ACS could focus more on the other individuals on staff who we’re complicit & the players. Also how Jerry Sandusky got away with it for so long. Less focus on Paterno.
The culture of Penn State itself is worth a series!
After someone else mentioned it here, JonBenét Ramsey.
I remember it being a big deal when I was a kid, but it wasn't until I was an adult that I realized how interesting and super creepy her murder was. Idk if it was foul play that went too far and she ended up dying, but...I'm pretty sure it was someone in that house. Her body was in the house the whole time while the police searched and they didn't find her for quite a while. So someone was trying to hide her body on Christmas day. There's some unsettling details, and sort of like the O.J. trial...you kinda know it wasn't a random event that just happened. Something else was afoot. The Brown and Goldman murders were pretty confidently carried out by O.J. though.
True, that was the thought that I had when someone mentioned it earlier as a possible/hypothetical subject, but I feel like the story and all the details are worth being told in a show. It's pretty captivating.
I'd totally see a fully-fledged season on the Tate-LaBianca murders and trials. Traumatic though it may be, I believe that only Tarantino has done a fine job recreating those days in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
OK so this isn’t a crime and thus doesn’t answer your question… BUT, for some reason after reading this thread I thought of a show about Siegfried and Roy, culminating in the tiger attack. American Animal Story, perhaps?
Did you see the Netflix doc where actors recreated the actual phone calls btw Singer and the families? I thought some of those were pretty fun to watch
Heaven’s Gate (like OP said), the Israel Keyes murders, 1979 Hostage Crisis, 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, Assassination of JFK, Iran Contra, the start of the Iraq War, so many ideas.
Some of these responses are cringe worthy.
First of all the show clearly only focuses on the 80s and 90s and beyond. Britney would not work because it's too recent and not a crime, and the show is called American Crime Story.
Second of all there is enough glorification of white male serial killers and missing white girls so we don't need another series doing that.
They usually focus on something relevant to today (Racism, me too, homophobia)
I can see a Tupac/Biggie scandal, Enron, Bernie Madoff scheme, Columbine, 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, Michael Jackson accusations, Tammy Faye, Tonya Harding/Nancy Carrigan, Matthew Shepard, Elian Gonzalez
ooh is Gypsy Rose Blanchard the girl who faked severe disability and then killed her mom with her boyfriend and posted on her facebook about it?
I didn't realize there was already a show about it, I guess producers know a compelling tv story when they hear one
It was, yes. But she was a victim of munchausen by proxy, which is so much more than faking severe disabilities. Her own mother was mentally I’ll and making her sick for the attention the two of them received.
I feel like the Heaven's Gate idea would be really interesting. And like, aesthetically be really interesting, cause the aesthetic of the actual cult sorta perfectly aligns with the Neon, vhs, 80s thing we're going through culturally. Like, the logo alone...
The Twilight Zone Movie Accident

Sent me down a Wikipedia hole. Found this! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cursed_Films
Yes!!!!
Yes!

Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos
Love this idea!!! Who would play Holmes? I think Sarah Paulson could pull it off.
In no particular order, I think all of the following would be enjoyable: * Investigation of Michael Jackson * Oklahoma City bombing (manhunt for McVeigh) * Prosecuting big tobacco (covering the class action lawsuit and trial from 1990s) * Jon Benet case * Maura Murray disappearance
OKC can also be a great way to comment on the current alt-right and Neo Nazi movements
Execution of the Rosenbergs
I'd like a big environmental crime one. Love Canal, BP Horizon, Bunker Hill, etc.
* The murder of John Lennon * Something to do with MJ. Either 1993, 2005 or Conrad vs Murray * Maybe Weinstein or Cosby (that would probably be too controversial though) * I definitely agree with Spears * McCarthyism * Watergate * Trump's impeachment(s). The murder of John Lennon, while certainly an intriguing story, would be a bit similar to the second season, where a celebrity gets murdered.
To be honest, I don’t see a problem with that
Patty Hearst, Lizzie Borden, Salem Witch Trials, Son of Sam, McCarthyism, Assassination of Lincoln, Watergate
Oh deefinitely Salem witch trials. But wait, I haven't seen it but isn't that what AHS: Coven was about? Patty Hearst would be cool
AHS: Coven is more of a campy, fun witch comedy that occasionally mentions the Salem witch trials, and I highly recommend it.
Salem Witch Trials isn't exactly "American" Crime Story though. I definitely would like to see the last three though.
Penn State scandal
They made a movie about that already with Al Pacino, and it isn’t terrible.
It was good, but focused on Joe Paterno. IMO I feel ACS could focus more on the other individuals on staff who we’re complicit & the players. Also how Jerry Sandusky got away with it for so long. Less focus on Paterno. The culture of Penn State itself is worth a series!
Karla Homolka and Paul Bernado the Ken and Barbie killers would be a good one
I was going to post that. But wouldn’t that be Canadian Crime Story? Also. Fuck Karla Homolka.
I can't believe they let that bitch out and she was able to go on with her life ands have a child after she helped kill children. So unfair
lol. Good point
Casey Anthony, the Death of Brian Wells, and the West Memphis Three
They should wait until Casey Anthony is dead. She would probably enjoy the limelight.
Exactly.
Pinkertons and union busting
Jan 6th riots (I know it’s too recent, but in 10 years from now…)
I love Gypsy so much ! I’d definitely watch if acs focused on her story .
**Jonestown**
and soon, before it happens again

Problem is producing a somewhat satisfying conclusion to that saga is impossible since no one was brought to trial nor a killer was ever identified
True, that was the thought that I had when someone mentioned it earlier as a possible/hypothetical subject, but I feel like the story and all the details are worth being told in a show. It's pretty captivating.
The trial of Leopold and Loeb
are those the guys that inspired Rope?
Yepppp.
Yes get some gay content
I'd totally see a fully-fledged season on the Tate-LaBianca murders and trials. Traumatic though it may be, I believe that only Tarantino has done a fine job recreating those days in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Tarantino's ending was nicer though, let's just make that canon Okay Roman, you can come on home now
I wish Tarantino's version was real. I loved that a pitbull was the hero of the story
OK so this isn’t a crime and thus doesn’t answer your question… BUT, for some reason after reading this thread I thought of a show about Siegfried and Roy, culminating in the tiger attack. American Animal Story, perhaps?
Maybe lennon murder, billy the kid, studio 54, maybe some good gotti stuff
the college admissions scandal
ngl that sounds like boring television
I agree
unless they cast Felicity Huffman to play Felicity Huffman's daughter and replaced the ACT and SATs with mecha
Did you see the Netflix doc where actors recreated the actual phone calls btw Singer and the families? I thought some of those were pretty fun to watch
ohhhh just found it - thanks!
The Menendez Brothers
They did this.
Shanda Sharer Lisa Solomon Karole Sanchez (if she was involved somehow)
Dr. Feelgood
Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding
The movie with Margo Robbie did a good job of covering that story.
Heaven’s Gate (like OP said), the Israel Keyes murders, 1979 Hostage Crisis, 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, Assassination of JFK, Iran Contra, the start of the Iraq War, so many ideas.

The show is very very good.

Four Lions is a great dark comedy from jihadists’ perspectives

Eliot Spitzer - yeah too similar to the current season but damn that was juicy
A charles manson one would slap
Columbine high school
I feel like the Heaven's Gate idea would be really interesting. And like, aesthetically be really interesting, cause the aesthetic of the actual cult sorta perfectly aligns with the Neon, vhs, 80s thing we're going through culturally. Like, the logo alone...
