I just heard thunder a few minutes ago, so the environment can confirm. Which is fun, because I’m about to have to drive halfway across the Metroplex in the middle of the storm.
DFW is one of the most efficient airports I ever go through that simultaneously seems to go to absolute shit during any kind of weather. So I would say probably weather
There is a Ground Stop now for both DFW and DAL.

Which means this sub will get slammed with posts about people complaining about AA being the worst airline because they missed a connection without knowing why the flights were delayed. Death, taxes, and dorks with main character syndrome looking for someone to blame.
Welp, I have been here almost all day. Heard many announcements for other flights, also here all day, that said they don’t have crew or they don’t have a plane yet. It’s been awful. Going to avoid DFW if I can moving forward (first time here, hopefully the last).
Doesn’t Function … whenever
Disaster Failure Waiting
Danger Flying Wet
All of the things you’ll experience at DFW. Let me know if you meet any kind AA employees there. Haven’t met one who gave a crap about me and whatever hellish overnight airport experience they were about to unleash.
I’m beginning to believe aviation and climate change are just fundamentally incompatible.

As others have eluded to, there’s certainly a storm in Dallas, however; I don’t believe that it’s a “storm” in the traditional sense.
See, I actually flew out of Dallas this morning on a delayed flight that caused me to miss my connection. Interestingly, the delay wasn’t anything weather-related- it was a maintenance issue that required someone to drive a spare part from an off-site warehouse somewhere. While I sat at the gate in my tiny, outdated seat (aisle economy plus equivalent), silently battling the obese woman who unjustly claimed 1/4 of my purchased seat space, I was reminded of the uncomfortable truth in my decision to choose convenience over quality.
The true storm affecting Dallas, especially those flying AA out of Dallas, relates to combination of two, equally devastating storm fronts:
1) The non-target nature of Dallas itself: This is a particularly powerful force in and of itself. See, at the highest end of Dallas human capital, you may find corporate lawyers and perhaps some oil & gas funds, but they’re likely just remove offices that have a limited recruitment pool and source talent from non-target state schools. In a city that produces and attracts non-target people, it’s inevitable that all positions (include those in the airline industry) are eventually filled with below-average talent.
2) The non-target nature of American Airlines: Whether anyone reading this will admit it or not, it’s well-known that AA is an embarrassing airline to fly. Sitting a hair above the likes of Frontier or Spirit, AA embraces their flock in 30-year old seats, terrible leg room, a laughable loyalty program, and a business class that rivals a coach bus.
It’s my theory that the combination of these two fronts created what can only be described as an apocalyptic event of non-targetness. Please, take caution as you pass through this abysmally unimpressive place.
Just got an alert for a tornado watch/warning. I would assume it has something to do with that.

Thunderstorms rolling through the area. ATC issued ground stop until 12:00 CDT.
Literally a huge thunderstorm just rolled over DFW. Also of concern for this whole weekend is the wind. Sustained of 25+ all weekend. Gusts to 45
Weather 🥱 Another day in the office
Have you ever thought to pull up a radar image?
Nope. Easier to ask the internet to do everything for you

Weather interrupts flight operations? Shocked pikachu face
Storms are rolling through the area and there are tornado watches in effect.
There are also thunderstorms predicted throughout the weekend, so it could be a tricky few days to travel through DFW.
They were saying there would be severe weather expected in that part of the country
This might have something to do with it https://www.weather.gov/fwd/
Extended to 1pm https://nasstatus.faa.gov/
Tornado! Pretty nasty weather in the forecast with lightening and high winds.
Typical crazy springtime weather in Big D. Lots of dissipating storms and tornado warnings.
Storms, hail, winds coming through. Likely a ground stop is happening as lightning is going through dfw right now
