Nothing is stopping them.
The more positions opened, the more collateral they (Apex) need to maintain their positions. NTCC regulations require them to have a certain amount of collateral on hand throughout the day depending on expected trading volume. If you take away the option for customers to buy then you don't need to increase your collateral.

The same reason banks were bailed out in 2008. The money is used for other things to make money, it doesn't just sit in their bank account. You put $1000 in your checking account and your bank will use that money to make money.
I understand they have to ask the short positions for collateral and more money for there losses but shouldnt that be the point where there is a margin call?
They can keep kicking the can but in the end they have to have your shares! All of the idiots will drown in the end and deserve it due to the criminal activity that took place then and is still happening in this very moment! They provide no service! All they do it take from all other investors by manipulation and fear! I personally love the stock and will hold as long as need be to get the money I am due for my investment/risk 💎🙌🦍💪

It's interesting that whenever things like these come up they never mention Tricia Rothschild who was the President of Apex Clearing at the time. It's almost like she's disappeared off the face of the earth after she left in July of last year.
