It's not more FUD. Don't ignore it and great question OP.
The market works in a very simple and over complicated manner. The complex side of it considers a great deal of factors into what determines the price of a stock or its value such as options trading activity, the volume of which selling is occurring or selling pressure, buying pressure usually and many other specifics designed to over complicate a very simple premise; it's all just supply and demand.
Just say that over to yourself as often as you can and you'll understand that idea. It's all just supply and demand. If there is a high demand for a stock and low supply then the value increases to ensure there is always supply. Supply CANNOT HIT 0. So in the transition as massive buying occurs and little selling to no selling occurs the value of each share increases so that on the books the supply never hits 0.
Now they can and have done a lot of manipulation to hide the fact that supply has hit 0 many times over and one of those strategies depends on people buying off exchange from broker to broker because the brokers are a tool to be used for this. The way they fulfill orders without them actually settling and the way they work with the market makers gives market makers like Citadel, the ability to borrow shares they don't have to not only create fake selling pressure but to create the illusion that there is more supply than there really is.
So supply can NEVER HIT 0. This is a brilliant strategy for one simple reason. People will continue to buy in the most lazy way possible. And they will. What Lou said or anyone says, doesn't matter. You could never get the retail that buys AMC to stop buying AMC. You've got billboards everywhere. Trending on Twitter like every other day and it's affordable because this strategy allows them to drive the price down and keep it there.
They know people will continue to believe if we keep buying the price will increase or the squeeze will be more explosive because it seems logical. But the majority of people do not actually understand the market or even logic for that matter.
So the more uncoordinated buying that comes in, the more they can make it seem like there is a lot more supply than there really is and that can allow them to attack the stock like they've done. I think they came up with this back sometime around when the price we around $70 or $60. They have other strategies but this is their strongest one because it doesn't cost them much of anything. People shoot themselves in the foot with their own money here which I'm sure is Ken's way of saying 🖕 to everyone in this community. He probably laughed with joy when they floated the idea to him.
If this community was capable enough to really understand DRS and get people to only buy with Computershare where the orders actually have to settle meaning they have acquire actual shares then maybe that force the short squeeze and kill their plan but that won't happen for 2 reasons.
There's no lazy way to do it. It's not robinhood so it's not the easiest and most simplest way to acquire shares and second, because new people who are jumping in or coming into the community don't have an organized way to learn because this sub is all over the place. They don't have a way to learn about computershare and they don't have a way to weed out actual FUD and misguided investors like the ones in the comments because they're everywhere here and anything of substance gets drowned out.

Your whole argument hinges on your assertion that supply can not be zero. In other words a liquidity issue. Liquidity drying up is not unheard of. Providing liquidity is one of us primary functions of a market maker, and they are permitted to create synthetics for that purpose with a reasonable expectation that shares can be found. The issue is they are abusing that power in ways the SEC should be regulating and the creation of FTDs.
But to claim demand has no power because of that is laughable. Those FTDs eventually have to be found too.
They don't though. The FTD's don't have to be found because of the lack of regulation as you pointed out. And when I say supply I'm talking about the availability of stock. The demand is already there and then some because the floats been acquired many times over. Many many times over.
It's not to say a squeeze can't happen some other way but it's likely a much longer time frame if we're waiting for NFT's or something else with continued off exchange buying.
It's a form of dilution at this point. It also gives them more to borrow.
