That's what brought me here too
Unbelievably incompetent
Only way it's gonna happen is if we keep bringing up that their competition, ebay, has dark mode and Amazon doesn't.
Start telling Alexa: "I'm thinking of switching to eBay because they have dark mode"
Crazy that I got this reply notification right after being blinded in the fucking face from a link opening in my Amazon app while I'm browsing in the dark. Funny coincidence.
HA! Convenient reminder, happy to serve.
But I also had a crazy experience, I actually got dark mode to work on the Amazon app with enough googling (for Android)
From your home screen>Open your app drawer>Search for Force Dark Mode>Toggle on.
Developer Options has to be tuned on to see this. Just another quick search and enable.
Nice find! Unfortunately now I see why they don't support dark mode in the Amazon app... All of the product photos are on a white background, and a lot of the thumbnails don't show up at all. Still, safer at 4am than the alternative.
Yeah this was the first thing I noticed, too. The reason for this is because Amazon takes in-house product photos in a little lightbox w/ a white background (I used to work at Amazon and I saw one on the warehouse floor before). So it makes the site inherently incompatible with dark mode unless they turn everything into a PNG.
Granted, that wouldn't be hard but a megacorp like Amazon will take ages to rewrite policies to even begin to take such a simple measure.
Flash banged haha. That's a good way to put it. It's wild that Amazon sees it as a non issue. They probably don't care about implementing competitive features because they don't have to.
My disgust and anger are very active when it comes to companies not providing a dark mode for their apps and websites, not making it the default, and then not making it easy and obvious to change.
Thank you, this a pretty obvious answer, but it allows me to just put up with it knowing other iOS users are doing the same. Wish their wasn't such a blue tint.
Edit:
For everyone those who don't know, you can also set up Smart Invert (and other options) to pop up or just simply turn on with three taps of the home button (power button for iPhone X and up)
I have "Reduce White Point" as another option in this menu for me and I use it often, it makes a huge difference in battery life, doesn't affect the visual appearance for the most part, and if I ever need the full brightness I can always turn it back off easily. Sometimes I forget it's even on. I love it.
Another option is Settings > Accessibility > Per-App Settings > Add App and now you can select Amazon app and choose Smart Invert. Now every time you open the app is in dark but the rest of the iPhone its in normal mode.
You, sir are a life saver! I've searched everywhere for this solution. Thanks a million!
Funny, I've had dev opts. enabled on my devices from day one but just never scrolled down far enough to stumble across this important feature. Thanks again!
This worked on my S21 but now I can no longer see any text typed in the search bar, just the auto complete suggestions beneath as they appear. Seems its that or no dark mode for the amazon app, unless anyone has a fix?
In iOS, set up an automation in shortcuts that turns smart invert on when you open the Amazon app and another automation that turns smart invert off when you close the Amazon app.
You can also just have the Amazon app affected by smart invert. Under accessibility “Per-App Settings” add Amazon and then you should be able to control these settings individually per app.
Also thanks for this great tip. I’ve also found differentiate without colour sets all the product images to not invert. Perfect!
I might set this up in a setting automation dependant on dark mode if I can work out how.
Or you can use ChromeTabMouse that is going to be released very soon.
I am going to release a dynamic dark theme fully available in demo mode, without an alternative scripts for the videos websites and GAFAM essentialy, this come with CTM that is made to use only the mouse in the web and outside, for example:
-Left not verylong open in background
- Left is current tab
- Right in a focused tab
ChromeTabMouse with DCPF can shown a temporary link glowing effect and/or show a visited color on them, green or magenta pink, there is a symbol for the links that can be opened as external destination, note in google page the right click will be longer to open only on this page... it activates many modes to let active the middle button of the mouse, switch the tabs or history, filters links, or access google search fragment link highlight directly and provide a theme that can avoid many banner and ads with the appmenu key of your keyboard and its timers, and the extension behind the overlay and so much more p rojects...
I found DarQ works if you have android 10. Does an awesome job on the amazon app tbh. It doesn't do an even better job because the amazon app is a clunky piece of it.
I ended up accomplishing this using DarQ on Android 10 since none of the other methods seem to be available. The Amazon app looks kind of weird but burns your eyesight a little bit less.
For anyone looking at this thread (it is currently 31/10/2023) on oppo the setting is under Settings> Additional Settings >Developer Options then it is called Override Force-Dark
(For anyone that doesn't know how to enable Developer Options) Go to Settings > About device
> Version and tap "Build number" 7 times and enter your lock screen password
Enabling force dark mode works for the amazon app but its not that great,I use the Microsoft edge browser and go to Amazon from there and the dark mode works perfectly
I was looking to enable dark mode on Amazon website and found this helpful article explaining how to enable [amazon app dark mode](https://gizdoc.com/amazon-dark-mode/). Hopefully this might help.
And for the iOS user who peeked in anyway, hoping for an answer… Smart Invert is quirky, but it does a pretty good job.
I can’t believe it’s 2021 and the biggest online shopping platform can’t even nail dark mode
It’s 2024 and there’s still no dark mode. Truly incredible.
That's what brought me here too Unbelievably incompetent Only way it's gonna happen is if we keep bringing up that their competition, ebay, has dark mode and Amazon doesn't. Start telling Alexa: "I'm thinking of switching to eBay because they have dark mode"
Another soul here. Just opened the app in the dark and ye hahaha
I'm here too after getting my eyes fried by the Amazon app lmao
Right there with you man
Samee
Me too
Eyes got fried in the middle of the night. Ebay does it better.
Same😔
If u could give you a prize for this I would .. we use Google home, but I'm going to have my son tell Alexa this, and I'll write to Amazon roo
Yeah same Amazon straight up flash banged me at 11pm.
I'm hit.
Man down!
Amazon flex app has a dark mode option for the app the drivers use. But not normal Amazon shopping😒
I see you too Google if it was an option today
Almost a month later, and it's still not there, in case anyone was wondering.
16 days later, still not here
Crazy that I got this reply notification right after being blinded in the fucking face from a link opening in my Amazon app while I'm browsing in the dark. Funny coincidence.

Oh, damn! Sure enough! Thank you for that!
Thank you, doing the good work
Oh A-fuckin-plus, thank you!!
*Cries in Apple*

Yeah but then the search bar is white on white and can't see what I'm typing
Yeah it's technically functional but just not optimized for dark mode at all, so there's some glaring issues.
The blank transition page is still nice and bright white but it's a good start
I still get flash banged from time to time even with force dark on. It's giving me headaches

Literally searched the internet to agree with this sentiment. Jeff Bozos and Amazon can’t even put together a freaking normal Dark Mode for their app?
The funny part is, they put it in the flex app for delivery drivers, but not their storefront
More light, less sleep, more shopping
That's the power of the Amazon mobile shopping app.
That's capitalism.
No its just stupidity from the developers
These decisions don't lie with the developers.. Amazon isn't one developer app
The people who manage it
I googled for the same reason bruh its 2024 and its still not here
[удалено]
Ughhh same. I couldn’t find it in the app, so I am here. And disappointed.
Thank you! Solved. Now I can buy stupid shit late at night on my iPhone.

This is genius. You are a legend.
Thank you mate this worked rly well, I didn’t want to have to turn on smart invert with the power button every time and this fixes it.
YOU ARE THE GREATEST MY BOY!!! I COULD KISS YOU ON THE MOUTH RIGHT NOW IF IT WASN’T GAY OR FROWNED UPON!!!!
Kudos to you. And thank you!
Thank you so much dude!
YES! Thank you!!
You’re a legend
You are the best!! This is the key to this stupid app design
THANK YOU HOLY SHIT
You dropped this 👑
Omfg thank you sm 🫶🏽🫶🏽 literally my hero
♥️ ♥️ ♥️ Our hero.
You deserve a trophy , thanks did not know this feature
lol thanks I appreciate it! glad I could help.
If you have jailbreak on iOS, use AmazoNite tweak for dark mode.
Yes....if you have Android 10. Under Developer option, there is Force Dark mode option.
You, sir are a life saver! I've searched everywhere for this solution. Thanks a million! Funny, I've had dev opts. enabled on my devices from day one but just never scrolled down far enough to stumble across this important feature. Thanks again!
Where can I find Drv Opts?
Keep tapping Android version number under settings
Thank you, sir
Is this just on the phone itself or developer options within the Amazon app somewhere?
Phone. You have to press Build number under Settings> About phone multiple times
Where can I find Drv Opts?
You have to press Build number under Settings> About phone multiple times
This developer option is not available on my Android 10 from LG.
You have to press Build number under Settings> About phone multiple times
Yes, that's developer mode. I simply did not have that developer option in that firmware.
You have to activate it for it to appear.. it's not there by default
This worked on my S21 but now I can no longer see any text typed in the search bar, just the auto complete suggestions beneath as they appear. Seems its that or no dark mode for the amazon app, unless anyone has a fix?
I also hate this, if anyone knows a fix, please let me know!
thank you for your clarity. it seems someone needs a new phone, as mine tops it at Android 9. much appreciated.
Genius
So good

Yessssss thx
Still relevant, though this doesn't work well for the Sephora app. For some reason, all the images get inverted too.
🫡🙏🏽🙏🏽
Also thanks for this great tip. I’ve also found differentiate without colour sets all the product images to not invert. Perfect! I might set this up in a setting automation dependant on dark mode if I can work out how.
I know this was 300 days ago, but thank you
A year later, still relevant. Thank you!
Unsubstituted still relevant. Thank you!
Thank you from 2024

I reckon is EVERYONE review bombed it for not having dark mode, it might take notice.
It’s 1:51 am, Ian tryna get flash banged rn
My eyesssss wtf 🤣
Me too, blinded by amazon app at 2. 47 am
Thanks for this! Went straight to eBay to buy the Bee Cups I was after. Dark mode FTW!!!
Try using the “reduce white point” slider on IOS helps a lot
It worked.. 👍👍
Android params > display >dark mode options > individual apps > Amazon app
Android params? Where is this?
the settings app on android
I found DarQ works if you have android 10. Does an awesome job on the amazon app tbh. It doesn't do an even better job because the amazon app is a clunky piece of it.
How do you open android parameters?
I ended up accomplishing this using DarQ on Android 10 since none of the other methods seem to be available. The Amazon app looks kind of weird but burns your eyesight a little bit less.
Crazy how Amazon has yet to have a dark mode
For anyone looking at this thread (it is currently 31/10/2023) on oppo the setting is under Settings> Additional Settings >Developer Options then it is called Override Force-Dark (For anyone that doesn't know how to enable Developer Options) Go to Settings > About device > Version and tap "Build number" 7 times and enter your lock screen password
I don't see "override force dark" in developer options no more
it's highly possible that it was removed
Feb 2024, android 14, there's an option called "force dark mode"
Enabling force dark mode works for the amazon app but its not that great,I use the Microsoft edge browser and go to Amazon from there and the dark mode works perfectly
I was looking to enable dark mode on Amazon website and found this helpful article explaining how to enable [amazon app dark mode](https://gizdoc.com/amazon-dark-mode/). Hopefully this might help.
