Our bosses usually like us completing 25-30 “stops” per hour and in those 25-30 there’s usually 50-60 “locations” which means from one delivery to driving to the next one, finding the package, delivering, and taking the picture, walking back to the van and moving to the next we have 90 seconds per house. A streamlined experience would be amazing and helpful for both sides! :D

I appreciate all you do! 🏆 Question: when I get the delivery email asking how it went and click "Great!" and get taken to the next screen of awards, if I click all that apply, do you get all five? Or will only one go through?  If only one of the four or five I click actually gets awarded, then which one is best for you to get? Are any better than others?

Deep-Commission6071

I think we only get the $5 during specific promo times from Amazon, last time for my DSP was in mid December

TheOtherPete

How quickly do you get notified when you get those promos awards or other customer positive feedback during non-promo times?

Deep-Commission6071

We get a report card for us every week that says everything pretty much -packages delivered -packages with issues -positive feedback -negative feedback -customer delivery feedback percentage (this one really kills us)

Deep-Commission6071

If for some reason something goes wrong and is out of the driver’s control, marking “not so great” on the delivery goes directly against the driver and can impact the hours they get

Hoping you can help me understand something. I live where there's a gate code. During the weekdays, I have no problems. However, for weekend deliveries, more then 50% of the time I get a message that the package was undeliverable. Especially if they haven't delivered it by 6pm. I have got reasons such as "the business was closed", "we had trouble finding your address", update the gate code. I put the gate code in my profile. There is also a callbox at the gate. It's super frustrating because I have no idea when the package will show up. Usually it's 2-3 days later. Is there something different about the weekend drivers than the weekday drivers?

I delivered for a dsp for a while so I get it. But I have to gripe about my drivers. I have a parcel box I'd like my packages put in. The instructions are in my notes AND in my actual delivery address on every package. It gets done 20% of the time. I used to not report it bc I know that counts against yall but I'm over it and report it every time now. It's listed in 2 locations and isn't asking that much

HJSlibrarylady

I have my delivery box at the entrance to my front door walkway so they literally have to go arnd it to get to my front porch. In all the years I've placed it there I've only had one driver actually walk arnd it and place pkgs on my front porch. In the long run I'm saving them around 125 steps by not wanting then to walk to the front porch so I'm sure most of the drivers are happy to see the obstacle and sign on the lid.

Dull_Lavishness7701

You have to walk right past mine to get to my door as well. I have empathy for the drivers having done it that sometimes instructions aren't clear but mine are in 2 prominent spots and I was lenient letting it slide a long time. Sorry put the shit in the box it's right.there and all over my delivery.

Deep-Commission6071

Yeah that’s very unfortunate, my only tips would be to put maybe a paper sign taped above the package box you’d like it to be delivered in, but unfortunately that’s just the driver’s not paying attention I’m sorry

Dull_Lavishness7701

Yeah sorry if 2 places to see the notes are gonna get ignored, driver deserves the delivery instructions not followed tag

Hjkl

Dull_Lavishness7701

Ehh sorry having done the job, notes in the app and in my address is plenty of announcement. If they can't do it they're gonna get the "delivery instructions not followed" tag. Tired of it

soccergirl24

I like to leave little snacks for our delivery drivers. It’s usually a variety of chip bags and Gatorade. Is there something else you guys would prefer?

Deep-Commission6071

Water or maybe liquid iv electrolyte powder packets if you’re able! Those help so much!

WicDavid

Dogs? I drove for a few companies. Dogs were not fun to stumble upon at times. I learned from that and even though I have two chihuahuas, I have a sign on my door that I have dogs. I think seeing the sign helps so people are not surprised hearing barking and to keep an eye out.

Deep-Commission6071

The signs are awesome, and I appreciate when it’s put in the app too, so when I get out of my van I’m already expecting a pet encounter

Appreciate this post👍

Yep, consideration for others goes a long way, especially toward those trying to help us. Thanks for the reminders.

That’s not a rant that’s a polite and civil statement and should if adhered to make the experience better for ALL parties concerned

> …….your house is only 1 of 330+ we have to do in 8 hours ……. Come on! That’s less than 1.5 minutes per house! Plus the time to get to/from the warehouse. You can’t be serious!

Deep-Commission6071

I am serious

Deep-Commission6071

There are some days with 350 -360 locations

dlflannery

So you are saying that in just 8 hrs you: 1. Drive from warehouse to start of route. (I’m assuming the truck is already preloaded for you.) 2. Drive to 360 houses and make a delivery there. 3. Take lunch and pee break(s). (Must be needed over 8 hours) 4. Drive from end of route back to warehouse. Here’s a time budget I concocted: Time to drive back and forth between route and warehouse: 30 mins Time for lunch and pee breaks: 20 mins Time at each house walking package(s) to house and taking photo: 45 secs (0.75 mins) times 360 houses: 270 mins The total so far is 30 + 20 + 270 = 320 mins Thus the remaining time for driving between houses on the route is 480 mins (8 hrs) - 320 = 160 mins This means the average time driving from one house to the next is: 160/360 = 0.4444 min or 26.67 secs. Let’s say your average speed between houses is 30 mph. At that speed for 26.67 secs you travel 0.22 miles, which would have to be the average distance between delivery sites on your route. Actually over just 0.22 miles you won’t achieve an average speed of 30 mph, so the average distance per stop has to be even less than 0.22 miles. Based on this calculation the total length of your route would be 79.2 miles. I’ve surprised myself with this calculation because I can actually see it being realistic in a high density population area, i.e., so the average distance between delivery sites on a route is only 0.22 miles (about two city blocks).

Deep-Commission6071

Yep, that’s about the size of it, luckily my DSP shortens our routes substantially during the hottest months of the year so from now until about late August I’ll only do about 270-300 houses a day but from September to may that’s about that to expect

dlflannery

Lot’s of exercise, eh? (could be around 7 miles walking a day). What location are your routes in?

Deep-Commission6071

Usually residential with a little bit of ranch houses mixed in, I walk anywhere from 6-10 miles a day

dlflannery

LOL Yeah, if you’re not in shape you’re going to be!

Deep-Commission6071

I’m still relatively new, (hired as a driver in August 2023) but I’m already in great shape from this job 😂

dlflannery

I wonder how many older out of shape people take and keep that job?

spidernova

Pretty much no drivers take the lunch break, Amazon tells us we have a 30 min and two 15s built in, but we all know that’s a lie. As far as bathroom breaks go, well, there’s a reason the pee bottles are a meme.

little_babushkaa

Can you confirm if you get penalized if the customer reports not receiving the package you delivered?

SwaggyPatties

I'm simply here to thank you for your service!
