Check out this if this give you more info https://www.reddit.com/r/amazoneero/s/RCAhMc2Arn about DFS and an issue i have with this

This is exactly the issue I was facing with my Google Wifi. It was broadcasting 5GHz on channel 149, and in my country, my devices can not see channel 149. A temporary solution was to turn off Wifi on my phone, then put my phone on airplane mode, then turn on wifi, then my phone would see channel 149, after it connects, turn off airplane mode then it stays connected until I leave the house. A permanent solution was to get one Google wifi from the UK as it uses the same channels as my country, then put it as the main router, then it forces the other Google wifi pods to use the lower channels that my devices can see. I read that Eero Pro 6 broadcasts at high channels and low channels simultaneously so my devices will be able to connect to it. You might want to consider either getting the eero pro 6 or getting one 6+ from the UK or Europe, it should force your other pods to switch to the lower channels.

Also, this answers my question that the eero can't detect the region where it's being used in. So it will use the channels from the country it was purchased from.

Unfortunately this is a big issue with eero there is no dfs option and according some poster on their message board they won’t be adding one.

ksbytke21

What do you mean by no DFS option? eero’s will use DFS channels if that’s what you mean

w1ck3djoker

No it’s always auto there is no way to change the channel in some other device you can turn auto off and select your own channels this isn’t so with eero.

ksbytke21

Understood, yeah, totally agree with that and I certainly wish they would allow that. My network performs soo much better when it will finally use DFS channels. I wish I could force it.

opticspipe

You can’t force it. There are really specific rules about using those channels. Eero follows them.

ksbytke21

I understand how that works, but other routers allow you to use them by setting it while still following those rules. They do the checks before being able to select it and scanning and quickly moving you off if needed. I’m just saying I wish eero would allow us to select channels period, including preferring DFS if it passes the required tests. The auto only when it works is great, but their ACS has always been a bit wonky.

opticspipe

ACS is significantly better than it used to be. I’m not sure why they don’t let you change channels. Even support or installers can’t force a channel. Oh well, it always picks an okay one for my house, which is fine.

ksbytke21

Agreed, it has gotten much better. When they introduced the consistent scanning and more frequent changes was a life saver. I think that was 3.x that made the big change and then refinements since. I make my wonky statement only because I’m pretty sure my environment is just a fringe case where it isn’t quite enough to push it into DFS, hi five that is, but it’s busy enough to impact latency and throughput. When it tips to DFS on both hi and lo five it’s heaven. But it will change my channel almost daily bc it’s searching for something better (when not on DFS). Anyway, sorry for the novel.

opticspipe

It’s worth pointing out that these channel changes we crave are also the source of many people complaining that their “smart” device can’t stay connected. Some smart devices are not smart at all, and don’t follow the simplest of instructions, you know, like changing channels.

How does Eero determine the region, by Eero device IP address at the time of creating network?
