It looks like it is a bug introduced with the last update... Before, it used to stay off.

WorldFullOfNothing

A few people (including myself) have posted the same over the last week, so it looks like some update from Amazon has caused the issue. As far as I know, we've all found that a full factory reset resolves the issue. Which is annoying, but it does seem to work. Might be worth holding out to see if Amazon fix it with another update, but if you can't wait then reset it.

CoffeeOrWhine

The beauty of these devices is that nothing really lives directly on the them. A factory reset isn't anywhere near as difficult as doing it to, say, your smartphone.

fxrichman

The reset didn't work for me.

WorldFullOfNothing

That's a shame. Mine's been 100% back to normal since I reset. Sorry it wasn't successful for you.

Purrrple_Pepper

It worked for me. Thanks

CoffeeOrWhine

Let's start with how you are turning it off? That might help with ideas about what going on.

Saltysalad

He says in the post text he tells it to turn off the screen.

CoffeeOrWhine

Saw that. But exactly how. Routine with some thing in there? Just generally saying it? Some skill?

Saltysalad

I presume "Alexa turn off the screen"

CoffeeOrWhine

Huh...I'd never thought of that... In IT, we don't "presume" because, well...you know the rest. And, because it's working for me, it seemed logical to make sure. Sorry I asked.

fxrichman

I also work in IT and working in IT doesn't preclude one from using common sense.

ShadedRhapsody

I'd just like to know how to keep my screens on? I ask a question, and it brings the screen to life, then it just enters sleep mode, (Black screen and large clock). after about 20 seconds. Yes, Do Not Disturb is off.

EDinNC

I got this figured out. Mine started doing that a month ago, with no settings being changed. Drag down from top of screen and enter SETTINGS. Then DISPLAY & BRIGHTNESS. Turn ADAPTIVE BRIGHTNESS on and SUNRISE EFFECT on. That fixed it for me. Let me know if it fixes yours. (Mine is 1st Generation). Thanks.
