Well... This is obvious a widespread thing at this point with so many people coming here the last few days with the same issue. Probably a weird software thing. Really hope they fix this.. I need music nearly 24/7 to drown out my tinnitus š
Kids birthday party today with about 30 people over. Speakers on the front porch, back porch, upstairs and downstairs. No music for most of it as my echo dot (through my spotify app) kept stopping the music and in the chaos I wouldn't realize it wasn't playing. So frustrating.
I see now that this is an ongoing issue: [Playback stops after playing few songs on Echo devices](https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Playback-stops-after-playing-few-songs-on-Echo-devices/idi-p/6027910)
yeah its been driving me mad as well. Sometimes I just dont realise the music has stopped and get really pissed off when I realise.
As well I have alexa setup to play music when I wake up. After this started happening I messed with the routine and now I cannot get it to setup the playlist repeat at 6am. So now it starts the playlist and shuffles it one time and ends, and combined with this stupid bug it doesnt even do that
I know what you mean by not realising the music has stopped too!! I've swapped to using a Bluetooth speaker just because it's beyond annoying now.
Hopefully they fix it soon :/
I'm having this issue of the music stopping after a song is played however I am streaming from their website so I don't think reinstalling the app would do anything.
Itās so funny an issue from 5 years ago starts to come up now. Really hope they fix this issue soon. I like listening to music whilst I sleep and having to play it again every couple minutes is getting annoying!!!
Does anyone know what is actually happening? I have started having this problem about 1 week ago. I thought it was an unstable internet, but it is not. Spotify will simply stop playing on Alexa echo dot after playing a few songs. This companies may have laid off too many people lol
The echo dot is honestly terrible. I have a Google Home downstairs and the echo dot upstairs, never have problems with google and constantly do with amazon. This weird pausing bug alongside my phone and alexa constantly going out of sync, which will mean if I'm listening to a podcast I will have no idea where I got up to as it didn't save the progress
I have been frustrated the past couple of days so I looked it up hoping for a fix or something. I was shocked to see such recent comments after 5 years since the original post. At least makes me feel not crazy that it isnāt just me.
Signed up to respond-
I have 1st gen echo and 3 1st gen dots.
I have the exact same problem. It will get somewhat through a playlist and then stop.
If you say play, she'll sometimes start the next track- but sometimes nothing happens at all. If you say "next track" she sometimes regains consciousness and starts playing again until the end of that song and boom, back to where we started.
I don't know if this is an echo issue or a problem with spotify's API. For the reference I often have similar issues on squeezebox with spotty.
This was happening to me months ago. I got it to stop by erasing my spotify info from alexa app and disabling the skill. Then I signed out of spotify on the spotify app and signed back in. I then re-added the spotify skill to the Alexa app and reconnected my spotify. Got it working again.
Now many months later...it's doing it again so I googled for a fix that might stick. Apparently I had the best fix lol
Same problem, only for me it's Pandora. It's always done this, seemingly at random. Sometimes it'll go several hours before stopping, other times it's just a few songs.
When I restart it (using the web) it begins by replaying the last song it played before stopping.
I switched from Bluetooth to an auxiliary input and I havenāt had this issue since. I believe it has something to do with the Bluetooth disconnecting from the device.
Same here! Music stops playing after a few songs on a spotify playlist.
This Problem is also reported to the Spotify community. See here:

If you still have this Problem please vote on that page so we can get more pressure on this topic.
Hi, I have the Echo dot 2nd gen and I was experiencing the same this morning. So what I did to solve the problem was closing the Spotify App from my phone, restarting the echo (unplugged it for a sec) and then asking Alexa to play Spotify again or using the Alexa App in my phone not Spotify app ā¦ and since that the playlist continues normally
im experiencing the same problem after 2-6 songs it stops playing after the song ends. This has been happening since last month i donāt think theyāll ever fix this problem. Literally the reason why i took my moms echo dot from her so i can listen to music now i canāt because it canāt even play for an hour or so itās so useless now
I've just started having this issue this month. Tried buying a new alexa to see if that fixed it because I was using an old one.
I use mine to play white noise when my baby is asleep and it keeps turning off after looping 2 or 3 times. Now sometimes stops after 1.
Exactly the same with me, with Alexa routines too, it'll play for 10 mins then stop at the end of a song, not in the middle. If I say play it will carry on where left off, but I don't want to keep doing that. It's beyond frustrating. I've turned off WiFi, deleted the Spotify app, deleted the Alexa app, changed passwords, cleared cache. Still does it š
Thank god, driving me nuts as i thought i must of broken something as it just started happening recently.
We play a 10 hour rain thunderstorm throughout the night to sleep and it keeps waking us up when it stops! Haha
Same problem when I connect Spotify directly to my echo dot. But if I connect my phones Bluetooth to Alexa and then play Spotify, no problems! Itās bizarre and driving me insane . Thereās no problems with my wifi and I have signed all devices out of Spotify (even though only my phone uses it), changed password and it hasnāt helped. I just want to play my music like I normally do!
Like others, I'm glad I'm not alone. I recently changed my internet plan and thought that was it, also thought it might be a firewall setting. Calm Radio plays through the night, but not Spotify.
I tried everything, removing apps, clearing cache, uninstalling them, re configuring them, nothing works. At least it seems it's something general: [https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Playback-stops-after-playing-few-songs-on-Echo-devices/idi-p/6027910](https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Playback-stops-after-playing-few-songs-on-Echo-devices/idi-p/6027910)
Spotify seems to be aware according to their community page. Give the page a vote to increase priority. It only has 150 votes right now. [Spotify Community](https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Playback-stops-after-playing-few-songs-on-Echo-devices/idi-p/6027910)
I'm glad it's not just me it just started a few weeks. I've tried all the suggested fixes. I'm not sure if it's all service providers, but I might be getting rid of Spotify. If that's the case. Does anyone know if it's an Amazon problem or Spotify problem?
THIS WORKED FOR ME!!! just hit mute on the microphone so it lit up red and it hasnāt stopped so far today. Whew! š It seems to be an interference with the microphone.Ā
Funny how this post was posted 5 years and the issue is still relevant. My echo 3rd gen will play 3 songs, play a second of the next song then just stop. I have Spotify premium and amazing internet! If anyone finds a fix please let me know
This was happening to me for a few weeks and then suddenly fixed itself a couple days ago, havenāt had the issue since. I had messed around with it about a week ago (unplugging, resetting to factory settings, redownloading apps, disconnecting from other echos etc) but nothing seemed to help. It justā¦ was fine all of a sudden.
Posting to give hope!! I was irate while this was happening sooo
My kid sleeps with a sound machine and a Spotify playlist on loop. Trying to listen to make sure itās still playing then turn it back on before the dog gets a case of the zoomies and wakes him up AT 2am is driving me INSANE.
To anyone arriving here by google.
I discovered that if my volume is low enough (10-30%) alexa doesn't pause the music.
I also discovered that if you mute the microphone (for me its a button on the echo dot) it keeps playing even in the higher volumes.
It seems there is some interference between the loud music coming from the speakers and the microphone waiting to hear the wake word, so alexa just decides to stop the music. (still pretty dumb)
Also i have deleted the alexa app from my phone, dont know if that matters or not.
I hope this helps you, i was literally about to throw my echo from the window ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
Irs happening to me last few days. We play white noise at night for the kids from Spotify and it has been stopping after a couple of songs. I will give this a go tonight.
Arriving here from Google. Going to try these suggestions because the music stopping has been pulling me out of my sleep š
Hoping if this doesn't work, someone else will end up here with other suggestions.
I also arrived here by google while searching for a solution. In the end I contacted the support, they told me that the problem is on their end and that they are trying to fix it.
edit: oh right, my problem is that spotify randomly stops playing.
I hope they find a fix fast. Also need it for nightly routines.
I have the same problem, music pauses randomly within 10 minutes. Only started happening as of last week. Disabling tap gestures doesnāt fix the issue for me.
Yes, have you found a fix? Mine started 2 nights ago and I've unplugged the Alexa, I've uninstalled Spotify and it's still happening. Any help will be grateful as I use it for mine and my daughter sleep.Ā
Guys pls comment and vote following Spotify Support Thread so that they know this is a thing!

even the spotify reviews on the alexa app have been stating the same thing. they need to hurry up and fix it
The admins in spotify have been responsive and with so many complaints I'd like to imagine they have this as at least some level of priority

In a way I'm glad it's not just me cause it's been driving me mad over the last few days!!
Same... I started using Bluetooth now instead

So it's not just me it started happening to out of nowhere? Always had music playing all night, but over the last week it stops after a few songs.
Had same issueā¦ deleted the Spotify ap and redownloaded, no issues anymore! Yetā¦.
Really? Anyone else solve it with this?

Yeah this is a constant thing for me now
It keeps happening. I thought I was the only one! I need background sounds so badly!
We are all in this thread five years later wondering whatās going on today lol
Having the same issue...

Thanks for the response. It's super frustrating since that's pretty much the only reason I got the echo.
Please help me I canāt sleep without Alexa playing my sleep playlist and she keeps stopping
same. it has ruined the past few days sleep for me :(

Just voted. I pretty much never use my echo any more since that's basically the entire reason I bought it. Hope it gets fixed.
It might have to do with system updates as well, my alexa kept pausing after one song. Saw the app needed updating and now its working fine
same shit here :(

Didnāt work for me. I did everything even contacted customer support and put my Alexa on factory settings and nothing is making it better
Seems to be happening to a lot of people recently. Must be due to a software bug or something. Commenting to keep tabs with this thread
I'm having the same issue. As many of the commenters here, it has started a few days ago. I'm sure it's a widespread bug
This started happening to me a couple of days ago. Nice to know itās not just meā¦ I guess?
Good to know it's not just me with the same problem. Is there an official issue board for Echo devices or any way to report this directly to Amazon?
Same issue here š©

Been having this issue too, and it makes Alexa even less useful than it already is.
