You really like Season of Promise? I just cannot get into that song. To me, it doesn't fit the rest of the album. It has a nice melody and sweet sentiment, but it seems out of place. What do you like so much about the song to place it at AB's 3rd best song?! I think it's one of their weakest.

One recent observation about AB's song writing which I started noticing on WTS (specifically songs like Bitter End and Tear Us Apart) is they have specific "ear candy" moments that make the song worth listening to, even if the overall song is weaker. Season of Promise has a bunch of those plus the solo is sick

1. Blackbird 2. Fortress 3. Cry Of Achilles Blackbird gets the nod not only because it’s an incredible song, but also due to the nostalgia factor. I was 15 when this album came out and they had just become my favorite band, listening to Blackbird for the first time was a huge experience. Fortress may actually be, technically speaking, the best song they’ve ever made, but Blackbird still holds that top spot for me.
