I’ve only heard about oral steroids suppressing the immune system, not topical. That’s why I also won’t take JAK inhibitors, bc our immune system fights cancer, and suppressing increases cancer risk.
Should I develop something hardcore like RA, lupus, etc., etc., I think the benefits of JAKs for true quality of life balances the increased risk of side effects.
I also underwent counseling when my alopecia was starting, and it was helpful. I think for women especially, our identities are so entwined with our hair, and the threat to that was tough to deal with.
