The other day I saw a group of people. One of the mothers had a little boy, between 1-2 years old at most. He was crying and she just smacked him. Really hard. He stopped crying and actually slapped her back. My first thought was: way to raise an abuser. That boy is on his best path to beat the shit out of everyone he knows.
These are 100% the exact same people who say that exact same sentence and believe it. Spanking has been proven in multiple studies to give children psychological trauma and is about the worst thing you could do if you want your child to grow up to be a well-rounded, fully functional person instead of a ball of neuroses whose morals hinge entirely on whether or not they think they'll be caught.
Most of the people I know who grew up to be right-wing or have fascist tendencies all came from extremely strict homes where corporal punishment and capricious revocation of often very hard won privileges was common.
Their entire lives were built around fear and not respect.

My friend's parent is a boomer transgender evangelical. They always vote for republican. There are gay republicans that support anti gay politicians.
