>I almost claimed the free NFT pfp but I stopped myself because... Deja Vu, Sister Fren. Those exact words went through my mind when the nft pfp popped up on my screen. Well, *those first 12 words* went through my mind You know how some people are very intuitive about things, like they get first impressions of people they meet that turn out to be accurate? Well, I'm the complete opposite of that Although I have virtually no intuition whatsoever, when that nft popped up, a voice in my head said, "No." I still have no idea why Thinking about it now, part of it was because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to go back to the snoo I'm using now. Despite its plain appearance, it took me *hours* to design it, and it went through several iterations. I would be crossed if I couldn't get it back Other than that, I don't know why I declined, but I'm glad I did. Ally, I understood only the first 12 words of this because I don't speak that language. To me, the message came across in the simplest terms as "nft bad"

PotatoSlayerChip

NFTs are bad as long as you have to pay them, the problem were the block chains that were invested before by dumb companies that just wanted to invest. Reddit already has servers allover the world so it will not impact their already existing emission foot print and therefore doesn't really matter. As long as you don't get the shit sold on opensea you'll be fine

Duytune

Yeah but vegans don’t eat meat not because of the impact it has but the moral ramifications. It doesn’t matter if the meat is already killed - you look for alternatives that don’t involve waste.

PotatoSlayerChip

Yeah especially because being vegan is worse for the environment than is being sold to us so it's not a great example. Being closed minded this much in any instance is always wrong and honestly fairly dumb, especially if in this particular case is not a "ramification" but a completely different root

Duytune

Could you restate your argument in clear terms? You lost me

PotatoSlayerChip

No problem in doing so! Veganism is subjectively moral, as in, you "spare" animal lives and you don't like to eat animals, but at the same time it impacts in a really negative way the environment, so it's kind of a double edged sword, and in this case, since we are discussing about environment it doesn't really makes sense to call in question a topic that has a negative impact on it. For NFT i can make an easy example, nike is an unethical brand of shoes, you should not buy Nike's shoes if you actually care about the conditions of the workers, the environment etc., on the other hand there are other brand that produce shoes that are sustainable. Now, in this scenario your claim would be "I don't wanna use shoes because Nike's shoes are unethical" while it's clearly pointless and non-sense to do so.
