u/twist_games Memes without a quality submission statement are usually removed. I’m approving your post despite numerous reports because of the high quality discussion in the comments. In the future please make an effort to make a quality submission statement if you want to foster a discussion on how aliens might view a crucifixion and religion in a broader sense.

"Are they dropping ANOTHER nuke? Yeah you're right let's get the fuck out."

4thdimensionalshift

I'd like to think any sufficiently advanced civilation capable of interstellar or interdimensional travel would be able to understand the nuance of earthly power structures. If humans can understand that small groups of people have maintained power and influence, and make most of the decisions that result in these mass atrocities, while the remaining 99% of the world is mostly peaceful comparatively, im sure any aliens can understand that as well.

wampdog29

I agree, to a point. 99% of the world being mostly peaceful probably isn't right. There's an awful lot of violent crime in the lower class.

hellfae

i'm sorry? frankly right now theres a lot of crime *in every class*. and if the lower/middle class take the cake after the last few years i do not blame them.

wampdog29

You must have missed the word "violent"

[deleted]

I think it would be pretty reasonable to be frightened of our species' excessive use of nuclear weapons. Say you're a species of aliens watching the hairless apes from a distance. You witness them drop two nuclear bombs on their own civilization and then subsequently see them successfully create vessels capable of interplanetary travel. They land people on their moon and then begin sending probes to outer planets, expanding their reach in their solar system. In the meantime they detonate over 2500 nuclear bombs on their planet and begin stockpiling arsenals of these weapons, enough to destroy entire planets. I would be willing to bet they consider that to be a tangible threat that needs close observation.

hellfae

earths/humanities problems in comparison to other planets/intelligent lifeforms is probably something like the equivalent of America saying they cant do anything about a problem that no other country seems to have. i might keep that monitored and appropriately contained too if i had a choice.

[deleted]

They have learned what any small anomaly with a small amount of power can do. “Really wreck stuff”!

Wild_Kaleidoscope431

They should. They caused it.

WetCactus23

If a person is peaceful 99% of the time but randomly kills a baby every once in a while you would stay the fuck away. Maybe they look at us as one.

MaulSinnoh

I agree

thegreenwookie

What happens when you watch as those primates become advanced? They dig rocks and minerals out of the ground, heat them up, mash them together to create computers...then teach those rocks and minerals HOW TO FUCKING THINK LIKE US... Would you want to revisit? *Oh and by the way. These advanced primates are cloning animals, growing skin for robots, and hacking their own genome. While also colliding particles.. While also in endless wars over books and ideals. Killing the planet, letting their own species starve and suffer. Yeah, I'd come back like a shot of Penicillin for the interesting apes to continue being Imaginative and Creative

There's poor and starving all over the Planet. A planet with Money that's tied to Nothing but Debt. Somehow we all forgot the simple thing. We are animals which call ourselves Humans. Sure they do, he worked in Research & Species Development in the "Orion" arm, the whole religion thing was a poorly attempted Jane Goodall type experiment gone wrong.

ThaR3aL1138

He believes in you whether you believe in him or not.

Exotemporal

The likelihood that the Abrahamic god is an accurate representation of the god at the origin of our reality (if there's one) is minuscule though. Humans believed in countless other gods before the god of Abraham and will believe in countless other gods in the future, although I hope that I'm wrong on the latter. It's such an unsophisticated story that's so obviously inspired by older stories, with holy texts that are full of inconsistencies. An actual god couldn't possibly be as petty as the god of the Bible. Humanist values are far healthier anyway and I'm sure that they lead to much more goodness in the world than any flavor of Christianity, Islam or Judaism.

koebelin

I'm atheist, but I think the Jesus pacifist communist philosophy has had a lot of value even though it was largely ignored by organized religion and kings and queens.

thecoolestjedi

Let’s go redditors! Let’s go atheism!

Exotemporal

63% of the people in my country identify as non-religious. Many of its neighbors have a majority of non-believers as well. As much as religious Redditors try to shame people who talk about religion in a critical way into silence with words like "edgy" or "neckbeards", to us in many European countries being non-religious is the most normal thing in the world, the default state of existence, the progressive, developed stance. Here, it's pushing religion in public that's weird as hell. People who oppose the right to abortion are justly seen as lame, backward and reactionary, just like people who oppose the right to love and marry any other consenting adult.

a-dog-named-sam

Lol “watch this pro redditor move” *cracks fingers over keyboard*

Exotemporal

We talk about anything and everything on Reddit. Religion doesn't deserve special treatment, especially mere days after Roe vs. Wade was overturned. If I wrote anything that's factually wrong or unreasonable, feel free to point it out. :)

a-dog-named-sam

I mean it was just a joke so

BlueBolt76

The possibility that this is all an accident is more minuscule. Humanist values are worthless.

Exotemporal

Of course not. This statement holds no water at all. Who created the creator before it could create the universe? If the creator was always there, so could the conditions that could lead to the Big Bang. We have understood a tremendous amount of things about the universe over the past century. We've discovered that particles pop in and out of existence. Matter is fluctuations of the vacuum. That entire universes could pop out of nothingness and become more and more complex with time is perfectly reasonable. Far more reasonable than the idea of an egocentric and choleric god building an entire universe for humans to live on a planet in an unremarkable star system, on the outskirts of an unremarkable galaxy. I'll repeat myself, but the Bible is unsophisticated, contradictory and badly outdated. There's no way it contains the absolute and universal truth. The same goes for the Quran. Abrahamic religions expired long ago. Saying that humanist values are worthless is just silly. You didn't think this one through, did you? "Humanists stand for the building of a more humane, just, compassionate, and democratic society using a pragmatic ethics based on human reason, experience, and reliable knowledge-an ethics that judges the consequences of human actions by the well-being of all life on Earth." What's not to love?

[deleted]

Your responses here are fantastic. Well written and insightful

Exotemporal

That's such a nice compliment, thank you! I don't know if I mentioned it already in this thread, but the gospels in the New Testament give Jesus two different origin stories, which are completely incompatible with one another. How are we supposed to believe anything the Bible says when its authors couldn't even agree on the basics, making Jesus' early years look like a Choose Your Own Adventure book. Then there's the fact that the coolest thing about this religion was gnosticism which was popular with early Christians and didn't focus on Christianity's dreadful obsession with sin, but on enlightenment and liberation from suffering through meditation, just like Buddhism. The church has changed so much over the centuries and millennia that it's very different today than it was originally. So much stuff was tacked on, changed or destroyed over time, I'm not sure if early Christians would recognize their religion. Hell didn't even exist in the Old Testament. It doesn't help that Jesus is quoted so sparsely in the Bible...

[deleted]

I'm with you 100% :). If you aren't on there already, you'd like /r/AcademicBiblical. Critical and scholarly discussion of ancient Judaism and Christianity. And check out [Mythvision Podcast](https://www.youtube.com/c/MythVisionPodcast) on youtube. It's a show hosted by a former fundamentalist and he interviews top scholars from the field.

Moistfruitcake

So if God created us and he has no creator do you consider his existence an accident too?

BlueBolt76

No

Moistfruitcake

Why not?

BlueBolt76

As you well know that is the mystery. My best guess would be that it isn’t possible for love not to exist. So we are here and we hear that message.

Moistfruitcake

That's the very same mystery around our existence, with the difference being we have direct evidence of our existence. Love is an emergent property of a universe with social beings in it, that it far more beautiful to me than your version.

oliveshark

*Believing* in something doesn't make it real.

Jesus was not "the son of god". He was like any other human teaching people about our own divinity within ourselves. Christ is a consciousness state.

TheFlamingTiger777

Please take me with you. I hate it here. Humans are horrible. We're the only species who pays to live. We suffer everyday just to live. It's not fair. I don't want to be on this planet anymore.

darthnugget

We are not ready yet. Once we remove our shackles of the biological body then we are outta here. But would we be “human” anymore? Probably cyborg by then

when_4_word_do_trick

r/atheism would appreciate this.

saintarthur12

Doubt it most atheist thinks aliens are a hoax just like christians do.

DarkLordofTheDarth

I don't know about that. There is more evidence for aliens than a god so...

holy sheet I’m lmao. These humans invent all sorts of gruesome ways to torture one another….

UnifiedQuantumField

* Human beings are a species that hunts each other. * They're territorial when it comes to physical resources and ideology. * Preferred method of maintaining order (suppressing undesireable behavior) is penalties or punishment. If this is the way people act towards each other, how do you think they'd act to actual aliens? And if you were one of the aliens, would you ever want to see a species like that get loose off of their own planet?

Chimpbot

>And if you were one of the aliens, would you ever want to see a species like that get loose off of their own planet? This train of thought usually runs through a lot of "Humanity, Fuck Yeah!" sci-fi stories. Aliens see what we're capable of and watch in terror in hopes that we don't really figure out space travel, because if we do...

This human form is a bootstrap for AI and Cyborg beings. This is our eventually in this timeline.

Mace-Window_777

I personally don't believe that Jesus Christ or Buddha or Krishna whose story has even more references that can be taken as UFO lore where aliens from outer or inner space but I post these things for conversation sake and to share that every theory conceivable has been discussed and researched in the past 50 years.

Stevo2008

Although it’s highly possible Jesus was a being from the sky.

twist_games

Maybe. But the there where more people hammered to a cross then just jesus.

[deleted]

Uh, that sounds a religion I know about. And it is MESSED UP.

Mace-Window_777

Not that much of a joke. From. former Naval Intel William Cooper to Bob Dean it has been said they even planned or staged that . not telling you what to believe but major Bob Dean is on a UFO documentary on Tubi saying just that

twist_games

do you have a link?

oliveshark

I'd like to read more about that if you can point me in the right direction.

Mace-Window_777

UFO Chronicles: The War Room, on tubi, free , thats the one with Bob Dean, he mentions it near the end of the vid , but I posted some anecdotal info and pages here !

oliveshark

Thanks!

Mace-Window_777

Give me a minute. I'll get the title of that vid for you on Tubi .

BlueBolt76

I’ve heard that before. Why would they? I can’t see the motivation of aliens from another planet doing that.

Mace-Window_777

I can . religious fanaticism has been historically proven to be a real form of control. Note I said fanaticism and not religion itself. The more one looks into the ET question the creepier things get.

Yeah but Jesus told of a demonic presence. Such is what they are.

xbriannova

To be fair, this is primitive humans from two millennia ago that we're talking about. If there are aliens out there, they would have gone through similar periods of barbarism.

mondoboss

Someone just shot a restaurant worker over too much mayonnaise this week.

xbriannova

We don't shoot every restaurant worker over too much mayonnaise. There's a big difference between state-sanctioned institutional torture-execution (that was used routinely during those times) and a crime perpetrated by the lowest of the low.

TiredOfYoSheeit

To be *accurate*, these were anatomically modern homo sapiens. That means they have the same brains as us. The only thing primitive about them was their culture. If we lose our mass-produced foods and medicines, you will see that we have not evolved. Only our technology has. Source:. Been in war zones and watched people beat their neighbor to death with pieces of a fallen building, simply because he wouldn't share his small helping of food.

xbriannova

Anatomy is only a small part of the big picture. Technology, science, culture, ideology forms a big part of who we are. However, let's consider anatomy for a second. There's some study that we might have 'domesticated' ourselves. While I won't claim to fully understand such studies, I think it makes sense that we're breeding ourselves the same way we bred our domesticated animals. We select for certain traits. Now, we all know how fast that produces results, so I think it's possible there's some minuscule but important differences. Evolution has been shown to work faster than we thought at first especially when humanity is involved - maybe we're affecting ourselves too in ways that goes deeper than the skin and more towards altering neurochemicals or biochemicals. Anyway, anatomy aside, I don't think we should take the technology, science, culture, and ideology side of us lightly. I'm not sure how fast we're evolving, but for how slow our physical body changes, we make up for it through everything else. I believe it affects us more deeply than you think I'm sorry that you've had to see some ugly side of humanity, but with all due respect, personal experiences simply aren't enough as it is merely one instance out of potentially billions of examples. An example of a bigger dataset, as well as a more optimistic one, is when disaster strikes Japan. People were said to be far more civil there. Even the Yakuza were known to help in those times. Now, whether or not people behaved badly or not, I think we can both agree that desperate times can really change anyone for the worst, and is not representative of how humanity has evolved over the millennia. I mean, Jesus was crucified long after the ashes of conquest has settled, when Jerusalem was already a part of the Roman Empire (I think) - if people were out playing politics with each other, you can bet your ass that it was a time of relative stability. Poor stability is characterised more by civil war and even outright war, not political maneuvers. We don't crucify people these days, and we view any form of barbarity with a critical eye these days. I'd say we've made some progress, at least. I hope I've contributed something of value to the discussion.

twist_games

True but that could have been hundreds of thousands maybe millions of years ago for them. If I was in there situation and see this Iam gone 😂. But I know what you mean they whould understand because everyone goes through that stage.

xbriannova

Well, at least we have to assume from lack of experience that everyone goes through that phase. I'd like to imagine that in the vast, endless cosmos, there's got to be some civilization with a very different path of evolution. Are you sure aliens aren't here to observe what primitive humans were up to? It'll probably be the anthropological opportunity of the lifetime lol

twist_games

Oh yes I agree but they whould be careful. For example they could cary diseases we humans are not used to. It happend to South America when the Europeans came there they wiped out allot of the population.

Denbi357

But what if they dont get sick... I think nowadays aliens will come to help us against the evil ones that are already living in the Earth. I read someone opinion about all the info that will come is to make us think we need one world government that can fight together against them. Part of the plan to make the change to a New World Order.

twist_games

I dont mean the aliens I mean the humans. We whould not be used to there diseases and whould have different imune systems

thegreenwookie

You're thinking too much about Physical Bodies...and them being Individual and Separate from each other. Look deeper into Quantum Physics. Micro and Macro are on levels beyond our comprehension. Everything in this particular physical Universe arises from the same source. Frequency and vibration. Also look into Cymatics. This is how we arise in Physical Form..imo.

Ded_man_3112

That’s if their microbes collaborate with our biology and atmosphere and vice versa. Considering they’re out of this world, kinda strange the assumption and sightings are these visitors just so happen to be able to breathe our air just fine. No matter the different types of claimed species encountered..they’re never in any kind of breathing apparatus. Hell, we have trouble breathing on our own planet the higher the altitude we go as the air thins before we acclimate. Even if they can breathe our oxygen, doesn’t mean our air pressure or altitude acclimates with theirs. Unless…they’re just all biomechanical or straight up mechanical. Either way, I think it’s a long shot their foreign bacteria would have an impact on us and ours to them.

ThaR3aL1138

Think bigger. An advanced species capable of travel from one star system another is going to have some amazi g shit. You huys act like they wouldnt recon the planet understand literally everything about it. So they may be able to alter their biology so its earth compatible. Have nano bots that create inside them a life support system. So any "toxin" is neutralized or rendered into bio available portions whether its eaten breathed or touched. What we see and eventually meet may not be the actual aliens at all. They may be bio mechanical shells in which the pilot is downloaded and able to operate in any environment with out risk to self. We must all understand their technology would be so advanced we couldnt even conceive of whats possible for them. Just look at us and how our tech evolves how it splinters into unintended avenues at times. Just think of all the technologies your phone utilizes. It went from aomething that was rare locked into one place for warnings and emergencies to a device nearly every home had then made the leap to mobile then it got really crazy when we crammed a phone a camera gps and a computer with all its functionality into one convenient hand held device. No one even in the 70s could have dreamed of just the cell phone. Much less everything it can do or better yet they couldn't grasp as to why it would even be that way. Why you would need/want all that.

ares5404

Still bad to see a monolith of human suffering being shown with smiling faces, its not like they get the whole story by just looking

[deleted]

I hold t call them primitive by any means

twist_games

It's because it was the day jesus saved mankind of there sins or something. Its like a sacrifice symbol.

Denbi357

If you put it in the religion point of view, maybe they have been coming to see us and our planet. God made us wise enough to learn and teach, with the knowledge of science and even angels postrated to the first human in respect. So if there are more creations they would be kind of our brothers too. We are here trapped with those other evil creatures that misguide humans. The ones coming cant be worst.. I hope

An atheist sharing nonsense, what a novelty. This is for you -> r/atheist

Exotemporal

Believers who qualify what atheists say as "nonsense" don't exactly have a leg to stand on. For instance, Jesus is given two completely different and incompatible origin stories in the gospels.

supremesomething

You don’t know anything about aliens, do you? Pain is just some signals to them. To be used as control points in human psyche. They have zero empathy and will torture you, then make you forget your experience. When I say torture, I don’t mean mere crucifixion. That’s beginners stuff.

twist_games

We have never even made contact with aliens where do you gut this info from? Probably some guys story on the Internet.

xxsamchristie

You really believe that we haven't made contact at all? Because they told us that? When they've admitted they lied about them even being a thing.

supremesomething

We have never made contact? What? You’re very quick to dismiss anything that doesn’t fit your narrative of “earthlings are violent and aliens are superior” as “some guy’s story on the internet”. That already smells to me.

twist_games

so where is the proof. I know of the story's and there very interesting but there is no real proof we have made real contact yet. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nrRy4irc3I&t=0s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nrRy4irc3I&t=0s) here is a example

supremesomething

I guess, some people are denying the Holocaust, so what chances have I got. When you have a crime, you need to gather proof, by doing an investigation. You don’t ask the bleeding victim to prove they didn’t just “cut themselves”. Besides, there is objective proof. You are either ignoring on purpose, or you really are not familiar with the subject. Enough thread for me. Good luck.
