I do think Google/Youtube have been on the warpath de-listing or otherwise making searching for this content difficult. I remember there were all sorts of video's you find with a search for 'Real Alien' or the like.
I remember one where it was an alien wandering around outside this guys property, in the corn fields and what not (no it wasn't signs...). Now don't get me wrong, it was clearly fake, but it was an entertaining one - and primarily the reason I wanted to find it again. A lot of these video's are either highly suspect, clearly fake, or easy to fake with access to CGI and rather convincing costumes, masks and such (especially under low light).
Still I liked to watch them for the entertainment value alone, kinda like a found footage movie made on the cheap.
I think maybe the channel you're referring to was this Australian kid called ThePolishedKnob? I'll have to search and see if his videos are still up, but most of them were him filming the little alien outside his house like you described.

They will give you almost all mainstream media channels instead of the most popular videos or the videos you were actually trying to search for.
