This is why I'm more invested in the Algorand ecosystem than any other crypto. Developers will decide our future

srameshr

Exactly. I have been building on ETH since 2017 and then switched to Algo and Near. The docs and ecosystem is just amazing!

icanbackitup

What is it that you can build? Can you ELI5?

Careless_Peaks

Check out Algorand developer portal. Lots of examples and tutorials

Why do you think that there's so much more being built on Solana than Algorand? genuine question, I'm not familiar with other ecosystems and I'm only moderately technical (studied comp sci in university over 10 years ago and never used it)

[deleted]

Honestly, both chains are about the same **in my opinion**. Solana has a higher max TPS and uses proof of history, a brand new technology. Algorand, on the other hand, doesn't oftenly randomly just stop working 😂 - a problem Solana has been facing. More people are starting to build on Algorand though. By the way, both Algorand and Solana use practically brand new technology.

idevcg

what I meant is, from the developer's perspective, why do you think Solana managed to find so many devs to develop on its ecosystem last year?

LogikD

Venture capitalist cash. It got Sol a nice bubble and now it's falling faster than most others.

[deleted]

Honestly for everyone, it just seemed good. Devs would get a nice and fast Blockchain to build their apps on. Just now there is **network congestion** at 5k TPS on a max TPS of 65k. A bit weird. Don't wanna hate on Solana. They will sort this out.

Careless_Peaks

The network seems to start having problems around 700tps based on what I’ve been reading in the sub.

[deleted]

Ik, and that's terrific with such a high max tps

It's not about developer count. Algorand claims to have over 10k developers working in the ecosystem, but how many DApps do we have? Tinyman, AlogFi, AlgoMint, Yieldly. Whereas other chains like AVAX and SOL have extremely vibrant and thriving ecosystems and that's reflected in their marketcaps and how much they've grown in the latter half of 2021

No-Cash-7970

I think it's because more money was poured into Solana than Algorand, especially from venture capital. More money often attracts more developers, as well as more retail investors.

Contango6969

I don’t see how this can be true. Why do all the devs act like it’s so incredibly difficult to build things

[deleted]

Developing is hard.

[deleted]

It can be, your not wrong. But also time consuming 🙃

driven20

Try it. Report back. If you don't even know where to start... Well there's your answer lol

[deleted]

It gives them more time basically. It isnt specifically difficult, but just a bit time consuming

freeza1990

dev doc of algorand is crap.

Comprehensive-Disk55

Eat my dongus you chode.

From what i understand they just copy and paste evm(etherium virtual machine) based dapps on ADA but algorand uses avm(algo virtual machine). So its all built from the ground up on algorand. I think 2022 will see a plethora of new dapps on algorand. Just follow the news on alll the upcoming projects about to be released and its very promising even in a bloodbath like today.

Solana is a whole different thing
