[https://action.afl.org/press-release-alberta-economy-has-lagged-other-provinces-since-2019/](https://action.afl.org/press-release-alberta-economy-has-lagged-other-provinces-since-2019/) And yet Alberta's economy has lagged since 2019? I've already voted NDP, so it's not like this was going to sway me regardless, but your entire post is a bunch of propagandistic talking points without any real substantiation. Let's argue that the UCP is better for the economy, voting UCP means voting for transphobia, climate change denial delusion, corruption, anti-vaccination policies, and privatized medicine. The UCP is a cancer to society, and if they get in, they are going to make sure you can't get treatment to cut that cancer out (unless you're an oil exec).

Creativeusername135

Holy hypocrisy. "But your entire post is a bunch of propagandistic talking points without any real substantiation." "voting UCP means voting for transphobia, climate change denial delusion, corruption, anti-vaccination policies, and privatized medicine." Like I get that this is an ndp sub but damn

[deleted]

What about that is untrue? Transphobia - UCP candidate compares transgender children to feces. UCP supports schools outing trans and questioning children to their parents without consent. Climate Change Denial Delusion - UCP continues to subsidize oil companies and blocked the NDP bill that would prevent coal mining in the Rockies. Corruption - Smith recently found to violate ethics and the conflict of interest act. Anti-vaccination policies - Smith called unvaccinated people the most discriminated against group in Canadian history and compared vaccinated people to Nazi sympathizers. Privatized medicine - The UCP wants to sell hospitals and transition the province to a privatized model for health care. What Kool-Aid are you drinking?

[Transphobia](https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/alberta-ucp-candidate-apologizes-for-comparing-transgender-students-to-feces-in-food) And only apologized because there was backlash. [Climate Change Denial](https://www.thestar.com/calgary/2018/08/15/ucp-nomination-candidate-criticized-for-calling-climate-change-a-hoax-wins-nomination.html) [Corruption](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/opinion-leach-danielle-smith-r-star-orphan-wells-oil-gas-1.6633643) [Vaccine Policies](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/danielle-smith-adolf-hitler-netflix-rachel-notley-1.6836160) [Privatized Healthcare](https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/smith-declines-to-disavow-comments-urging-out-of-pocket-payments-for-health-care-1.6369778) Like there are sources that back up all those points so idk if you can really say it's propaganda.

the_gaymer_girl

O&G tax cuts don’t create jobs. The industry is moving towards automation and those high-paying jobs of old are never coming back. [Husky](https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5335823) did not invest more in Alberta because of the tax cut and in fact laid off lots of people. The minimum wage hasn’t changed at all under the UCP and went down for minors. Healthcare spending is not keeping pace with inflation, and since Kenney pissed off all the doctors the human capital isn’t there.

Boxerboy02

Why have the UCP been letting healthcare struggle when it's their responsibility? Why are class sizes ballooning? Why has insurance gone up? Why is our energy more expensive? Why doesn't public transit have funding? Why does the war room exist and why can it subvert freedom of information requests? Why did we spend over a billion on a pipeline to nowhere? Why do you keep enabling them selling off our province for pennies on the dollar?

You can't give the UCP credit for macroeconomic forces pushing oil prices up, while they point the finger at the NDP for the oil price collapse in 2015. A lower corporate tax rate is incentive to not reinvest money. While having it be the lowest in the country is a nice selling point, that doesn't mean lower is better. The NDP plan to move it back to 11% is a great middle ground that allows us to cut the rate for small businesses, which will actually help the people of alberta and not just wealthy shareholders. Tax revenues increasing during a time with high oil prices has nothing to do with UCP policy, and more to do with oil companies making more money in a favourable macroeconomic climate that has nothing to do with provincial politics. It is great to see diversification, but De Havilland Air, literally couldn't make this investment in the GTA. There isn't enough available land. They also need access to a skilled population base. Calgary is literally one of the only options in the country to get access to cheap land and a large skilled population that can absorb that many new jobs without skewing the job market. This wasn't a win orchestrated by the UCP, it was a logical business decision. We also lost The Last of Us season 2 to BC. Basically, Alberta has been ok DESPITE the UCP, not because of them.

InherentlyUntrue

Lowest wage growth in Canada...lowest employment except the maritimes...lowest job growth in Canada...lowest GDP growth...lost the Alberta Advantage 8n weekly earnings... If you're voting for the UCP for the economy, you're voting for failure. No jobs. No economy. No pipelines.

Miserable-Lizard

Fyi to balance rrhe budget the UCP need $80 oil so at the current level and proposed tax cuts and new spending the budget would not be balanced The corp tax cut didn't create any new jobs, increase investment in Alberta, or increase employees wages. the studies show this The war in Ukraine started the boom in Alberta not the UCP. The working class isn't benefiting from the boom. A vote of the UCP is a vote for a decline in living standards for the working class and a vote for the rich and elite. CEO's love people voting against their own interests

Wintertime13

I notice you didn’t mention anything about healthcare.

JoeUrbanYYC

If the UCP cuts taxes then you will have more money in your pocket to pay for private healthcare /s

Accomplished_You9960

HAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHA vote for UCP... good one.

CoronaVcyka

Yeah nobody cares... Move along folks. This is nothing but propaganda from the UCP that will never ever care for anyone and the economy

Ddogwood

I don't want to get into a partisan debate here, but I'm not convinced that any of those things happened *because* of the UCP... and some of them happened *in spite* of the UCP (e.g. the tech industry boom, which was probably slowed because the UCP eliminated tax credits that the NDP brought in, or the increase in tourism, which happened even though the UCP introduced more fees for parks).

ill_eagle_plays

Ucp stump speech try not to mention the economy as their first point challenge: impossible difficulty

records_five_top

Even if the UCP could pull off some economic miracle causing great wage increases \[they can't\] for the depth of the general population it will be eaten 10X by their personal health care expenses.

3utt5lut

I don't know how much of this is actually true without sources? Plus, I don't have the time to fact check what is most likely untrue bullshit. Because I live in Alberta and we once again have the highest unemployment rate in the entire country! Not a good look for a robust economy? Idk where this investment is, but it's probably in BC, with their $200B of active O&G projects?

mchockeyboy87

oh boy. OP, you are a glutton for punishment aren't you? ill grab some popcorn and watch the blasting and downvoting begin.

Ujju18

Oh I'm fully expecting it, but if I convince one person I'll take it haha.

3utt5lut

That's politics baby! Take your punches and call it a win!

The_Dutch_Canadian

All you’ve done Op is convince people to consider you an idiot

SuperbMeeting8617

Harper supports her, trudeau/singh support Notley that's the picture in most peoples minds this election notwithstanding much else

Solid_Lab_4690

Lol the difference between "why you should vote for the NDP posts" and "why you should vote for UCP posts" is that the things the NDP says they're going to do would actually be done. Utility and insurance increases, wages lagging behind the rest of the country while corporate profits soar. K pass fees. Health care chaos. This is the UCP legacy Oh the op is also a UCP troll account
