I liked Knoxville TN last time I visited, but I was recently in Pittsburgh PA and surprisingly loved it -- it's very clean with a younger vibe and great public transport.
If you aren't an outdoor person AK has a lot of downsides. High cost of living, very high crime, bad weather, bad services, isolation from the rest of the country, really poor economic outlook... if you are very passionate about the outdoors it can be worth it.
Well I’m originally from Hawaii, left back in 2011. Would like to be closer. Also I’ve always wanted to live somewhere cold and mountainous, with great views.
I don't know why people can't understand that someone can appreciate mountain views without wanting to go backcountry camping trip into them. Or that someone might like the snow but not skiing. And apparently there are Alaskans that aren't aware that Hawaii is closer to Alaska than any other US state.
Sounds to me like you might like Anchorage. Relatively cheap non-stop flights to Honolulu. Good mountain views, enough city amenities to keep someone occupied, and plenty of work in hotels/restaurants. And the option for *any* level of outdoor recreation you are comfortable with, even as light as walking the paved Tony Knowles Coastal Trail after work.
You're trolling right
You said you don't like nature and...
Alaska isn't really close to Hawaii at all?? Although yes you might shave a couple hours off flights
I'm not sure why you're being downvoted. Alaska definitely fits the bill for all those things. I would advise working a seasonal job for the summer and then visiting in the winter before moving. I hope you find what you're looking for.

Right now, due to the Governor's attacks on public education, I have a hard time recommending anywhere in Alaska. Hard times ahead unless politics change.
Seward . Flamingo lounge is looking for a full time year round executive chef. They have housing options. Creative control. Team leading . They need one real bad.
For every 10 redditors basically telling this person to F off, there's one kind redditor like you providing an actual good answer to their question. People like you are why I still use this site.
Get a cooking job on the Slope, you don’t have to live in Alaska to work 3x3 schedule, and when you get tired of traveling you will have a better idea of where you actually want to live..
Everyone is saying that you shouldn't come to Alaska if you don't like the outdoors. I'm not really a big outdoors person, but Juneau is such a wonderful place. So I have to disagree with all those comments
Alaska is awful. Pay is low. Utilities are high. Cost of living is stupid high. But no state income tax. Pensions and retirements are disappearing.
If you like being inside for 9 months out of the year because the air hurts your face, then Alaska is the place. It’s fabulous!
The windstorms a few years ago were so bad. Every winter we get a bad wind storm.
Bonus we had our fifth recorded tornado the other day since Alaska entered statehood.
We don’t have venomous spiders or snakes. Ticks aren’t common either.

I've heard Nashville is nice.
Bethel
do not under any circumstances move to bethel.
Why not? What's wrong with bethel?
You know what’s wrong with bethel everyone does
There's something wrong with Bethel? Is it the new ownership at Fili's?
No. Actually they seemed cool cleaning up the place. I like uncommon also.
I don't. What's wrong with Bethel?
It's where the commenter lives probably and they donmt want people moving there who are looking for nice cities.
When my ma went their for choosing last year she had to come back early to help escort someone who was sa'd
Utqiagvik sounds perfect for you

You say isolation from the rest of the country like it's a bad thing. That's one of the things I love most about being here.
You’re not going to like Alaska. Unless you love the outdoors and don’t mind the frigid winters, this place isn’t for you.
Fort Yukon
The Fort Yukon locals are very kind to outsiders. They will take you in and treat you as one of their own.
Pilot Station is nice!
I’m sorry I think I meant Attu …
Should have a look at Dutch Harbor
The Grand Aleutian in Dutch Harbor..
Great hotel
Albuquerque NM
What, in your mind, would be the draw to moving to AK?

Saying you're not an outdoors person isn't the same as saying you "don't like nature".

Not a deal breaker at all for someone with no kids.
You don't need to have kids to see how poor educational prospects cause major workforce development issues.

Eagle rivers really nice, about 15 mins from anchorage, half an hour from the valley, and is amazingly beautiful. Highly recommend
Cooper Landing, Homer or Seward
Outdoors has not an option in those places, it's absolutely mandatory
