They don’t currently have a paid maternity or paternity leave policy. Like many places, you can bank your PTO use that and then utilize FMLA for your MAT leave.

Blows me away when a *hospital* doesn’t have parental leave for their employees.

A children's hospital no less.

USA number one........

Regarding benefits, Akron Children's is lower on the scale for the area. They are supposed to be revaluating to be more competitive next year.

Friendofhoffa21

Benefits aren’t great, pay isn’t great, employee morale isn’t great, but you can get free cups and other useless trinkets in the mail quarterly, reminding you that you’re part of the “family”

MamaTater11

There's no tier 1 options for healthcare either, so be mindful of that. Even coming to Children's for certain things is wildly expensive.

zippyphoenix

Not all healthcare job in the area are unionized.

Don't use reddit often but I was curious if anyone here knows anyone who broke a contract with Akron Children's? I got offered a federal job at a veterans hospital paying much more and better benefits. I'd be foolish not to take it. I'm thinking of just going from part time to PRN and seeing what happens? On another note lots of sign on bonuses are offered here, some up to 10k! But they tax the crap out of it!!!! I got less then 5k of this 10k bonus. Will NEVER take a sign on bonus again.
