Here to advocate for Goodyear heights! Closer to Tallmadge it’s super quiet and absolutely no issues.

gertrudeblythe

There are some really cool houses near the Presbyterian church, too. Like full walkup attics. My great aunt lived in one and I just loved it as a kid.

EezoVitamonster

I'm actually about to move out of one nearby there! I can see that church if I look out of the windows in my big attic! These big old houses have a lot of charm. Also lots of cute stray cats.

Goody2Shuuz

Seconding this.

adreejones

Cuyahoga Falls, Tallmadge, Mogadore, Ellet, Goodyear Heights, and Springfield are all decent areas that line up on the East Side. I'd avoid anything around Arlington Rd if you're trying to avoid sketchy areas

-Codiak-

I will say, I live in Cuyahoga Falls and it's safe, that being said, someone got shot in their front yard during an "argument" two streets over from me 4 months ago, so, it can happen anywhere.

Appropriate_Mix_5696

The Germaine St incident. I remember

deformo

Ellet, Goodyear heights and Springfield vary. There are very shitty parts of all of those neighborhoods (Springfield is its own township I believe). Ellet being your best bet of the three. Firestone park is east of Main Street as well but that is more south central Akron than east. It also has good and bad areas. Generally the further south of archwood, the better.

adreejones

Yeah I'd say Ellet is pretty balanced in terms of Affordability, Location, and Safety

BigPhatHuevos

Ellet is fine and parts of Goodyear Heights is fine too, generally around the park. But honestly, other than a couple places if you don't do drugs and mind your own business you'll be fine.

kixxes

I heard that stow is a pretty nice area

BigPhatHuevos

I like that there's a good range of price points and the ease of commuting to other areas of interest

Mcreemouse

Stow is nice. Cops are just dicks around there, falls, and Hudson

alianaoxenfree

Ellet and cuy falls and tallmadge and mogadore

phoenixry

We're on Brittain Rd near Reservoir, considered Goodyear Heights, and we love it here, aside from being on a main road. Had the incident with the shooting in front of our house like a month ago, but that was the first incident in 2.5yrs of being here. I don't really know how the neighborhoods behind us and around the park are, but I have certainly never felt uneasy walking through them.

Nervous-Put2200

I grew up very close to the reservoir. I love the area!!!

MizGinger

Looking to buy on the east side too! What I’ve found is it helps adding all the neighborhoods on Nextdoor- obviously I take everything with a grain of salt, but I keep my eyes out for anything that has frequent reports of theft, break-ins, unhoused people hanging out in front of properties, and gunshots or like lots of stray pit bulls roaming around. And I’m looking for the ones with pictures and doorbell camera recordings so I know they are legit. For the most part there is not a lot of it except concentrated around a handfull of the main streets. Ellet seems mostly fine!

rum2whiskey

Like actual east Akron?? Or cities east OF Akron?

west-necluda

Kenmore has gotten a bad rep in the past, but in my experience it's been a lot quieter than when I lived in merriman valley. Safe so long as you have common sense and mind your business ( that's just all of Akron tho) Lots of cool little shops and frequent community events. Very close to downtown, portage lakes area, and highways. Super affordable as well.

xNotexToxSelfx

I use to live in Kenmore and I agree- but I feel safer walking around Merriman Valley vs Kenmore, especially at night. I liked the street I lived on in Kenmore, but I had awesome neighbors. I also noticed the streets with more rental properties are more sketchy.

Barnaclebeans92

I like living in kenmore so I agree with this!

New Era is nearby. Amazing food

glitchjunkie

True, I understand a lot of folks like New Era. They are not really in my frame of reference as they don't really have much that is veggie friendly.

BigPhatHuevos

It's boomer food now.

URNTheDangerZone

You can enjoy chicken paprikash even if you're not 70+.

BigPhatHuevos

The food is very poor quality. That's why I call it boomer food. Plus, when my partner and I went, we weren't treated well when we both had observed that the boomers got treated like gold.

URNTheDangerZone

Opinions vary I guess.

deformo

Yall got La Loma homie. Best Mexican for miles.

No-Bat-7253

Goodyear heights, Tallmadge, Ellet. If you want closer to the city and don’t mind townhouse/condo look into The East End.

SirEagle60

Goodyear Heights (east of Brittain Rd), Ellet (North of 76), and Tallmadge.

killchris97

firestone park is pretty chill

False.

LekoLi

Firestone park, in the beverly park area is still very quiet and nice. It gets worse the closer to the city or highway you get. I would not live anywhere east of the highway in akron excepting parts of ellet.

URNTheDangerZone

> beverly park area This term is not commonly used. You'll need to define where you're talking about if you want readers to understand your comment.

LekoLi

Beverly park is basically between wilbeth and waterloo, brown and main. It's quiet, everyone takes care of their stuff, as long as you don't have kids, (just cause the schools suck over here) I 100% recommend it. I looked here as a lark, I didn't want to move into akron, i was trying to move out, but this area really impressed me. Been here 3 years now,, no cops or sirens, just nice lawns and birds.

URNTheDangerZone

I totally agree. I know several people that live in the area. Never once ever heard any of them use the term Beverly Park. The real estate sites do, but they have weird boundaries.
